The Morning Rant: Minimalist Edition

punk-monkey.jpg

Here is a perfect example of the chilling effect of overt far-left indoctrination. The Common Application is a convenient way for college-bound high school students to apply to multiple colleges. But it is obviously run by progressive scum, as exemplified by its CEO, Jenny Rickard, who looks pretty much how one would expect; a pinch-faced scold. Her career before she slithered into her current position, starting with her undergraduate days at Swarthnore College (Wow...what a surprise!), suggests that she is perfectly happy with driving anyone to the right of Stalin out of Academia and perhaps out of America.

commonapp.jpg

The obvious problem here is that every kid using the Common Application is going to reveal some part of himself on that application, including in an essay. After reading this letter how many of these kids are going to take the safe route and say nothing about any impure thoughts they might be having? No discussions of freedom and liberty or market economics or how I spent my summers hunting or shooting or serving the poor at my church or a hundred other telltale behaviors.

The hysterical tone and outright lies are simply a tool to intimidate and manipulate anyone who is thinking of applying to college.

The message is clear; wrongthink will be punished. And the rancid bitch who runs this organization will be lauded for her bravery, instead of being hounded from a position of influence over the futures of our youth.

Since Jenny joined Common App in August of 2016, the organization has developed a long-term strategic plan and roadmap and has expanded its access initiatives, including the acquisition of Reach Higher, the college access and success campaign founded by former First Lady Michelle Obama during her time in the White House[...]
Another surprise! She is an Obama fluffer!

The long march through our schools has yielded a monolithic academic culture that ruthlessly tamps down any deviation from the orthodoxy. And that orthodoxy is anti-Western, anti-White, anti-freedom, and anti-individual.

We spent 3,000 years developing a culture that has lifted the world out of Hobbes' "nasty, brutish, and short" life and propelled us to places unimagined just a few hundred years ago. These people want to drag us back down into the muck of a totalitarian hellscape. They had a taste of it in the USSR, China, and the many failed socialist states around the world. And they want that for us.

43 Hopefully someone compiles a list of companies that put out statements calling this an "insurrection", or racist, or whatever other bullshit they want to pin on it. I kind of ignored companies putting out George Floyd statements and posting lip service to BLM, because it felt like them all given into industry pressure (which says they're cowards, but not bad) But these statements about the Capitol hill fiasco are companies down right calling 75 million Americans traitors who deserve to be hung, it's far beyond the redline we should all have written in the sand.

Personally I'm getting out of Bank of America by thre end if the month. Thier statement was particularly despicable and i don't want to deal with them any longer. I'd love to move to a credit union, but it's not a very feasible option in NYC (maybe JJ knows one) but from what I've seen I can't find anything about this week or even BLM put out by TD Bank, so they might be my new home for now.

I've boycotted a few places after they pushed Obama shit much tamer than this, so I can hold a grudge.

It already is in many places as there is such a glut of lawyers many law schools have had to shrink their class maximums knowing graduating a whole bunch of persons trained in suing people what have been put greatly into debt when a school knows their chances for employment is not great is a fantastic way to find themselves fighting those newly trained people in court.

62 The "stark differences" in the treatment of black and brown "protesters" (a/k/a rioters, looters, arsonists, etc.), compared with MAGA (or even perceived MAGA) protesters, or conservative protesters, has been shocking and wrong, but not for the reasons this letter insinuates.

Blacks and browns, and lots of lefty whites, protesting/rioting under the BLM and antifa flags, have been treated with kid gloves by law enforcement. In most instances, even when caught in the act of rioting, setting fires, smashing up businesses, etc., they are not arrested, and in the cases of the handful who were arrested, they are either not charged or the charges are dismissed within weeks. Politicians either explicitly urge them to keep up the violence (see, e.g., Kamaltoe Harris), or they insist that we must give them "room to riot," and the media treat them like heroic figures.

Compare and contrast to protests by conservatives (such as the Tea Party) or MAGA types, where even the most peaceful and respectful gatherings are treated like Klan meetings by the media, participants are routinely slandered as racists and haters, and politicians called for armed responses.

68 Blogger Bookworm has done posts on how the college applications encourage and reward kids for being woke.

The Common App also has five essay prompts, from which the student picks one, all aimed at helping the university see what kind of person the student is outside of test scores and grades. This year's prompts:
-- Some students have a background or story that is so central to their identity that they believe their application would be incomplete without it. If this sounds like you, then please share your story.
-- Recount an incident or time when you experienced failure. How did it affect you, and what lessons did you learn?
-- Reflect on a time when you challenged a belief or idea. What prompted you to act? Would you make the same decision again?
-- Describe a place or environment where you are perfectly content. What do you do or experience there, and why is it meaningful to you?
-- Discuss an accomplishment or event, formal or informal, that marked your transition from childhood to adulthood within your culture, community, or family.

156 68 Blogger Bookworm has done posts on how the college applications encourage and reward kids for being woke.

The major cloud providers are Amazon and Microsoft. Google is in that space, too. Then Oracle, IBM kinda.

Amazon is easy. If you have an Amazon account to buy stuff (you know you do) then you can go on AWS and create a server. For free. If you need more stuff, you can just have it billed to your credit card on file.

They have a lot of services that if you had to build it yourself, it would cost you a lot of time and money.

See, used to be, it didn't matter your politics when you did business.

I was not at all woke or political growing up (HS in the 70s,) but even back then I thought there was a strong bias in some things. I remember (still) some essays that you had to read for standardized tests, like the SAT, and they were all fluff and nonsense about minorities and strong women.

You HAD to read it and then answer questions, and I would leave the test thinking that they had picked essays that were written by f-gs. This was the 70s.

Or history books that seemed to make the soviets appear virtuous. I remember a social studies class where they discussed Jimmy Carter, and how misunderstood he was. Or how virtuous it was to have 10 babies and live off welfare.

Again, this was the 70s and just the beginning of the commie infiltration into the schools.

It's far beyond distortion and lies (people who still use the term "bias" for what is barfed into the public square astound me), it's now orwellian inversion.

To some one that is indoctrinated, you basically have to use the same techniques to deprogram as parents whose child went into a cult.
They have to own their behavior and ideas and the insidious part of indoctrination is that they can no longer see anything but some 'big' purpose to give their life meaning.
For your daughter apparently, it is to 'save' the world from climate change which is noble but the means being proposed will cause suffering and death.
Raising and expressing skepticism might be good along with anecdotes that Rachel Carson lied about the cause of bird deaths in Silent Springs and a lot of people died of malaria as a result. That the solar concentration power project in NV attracts and roasts birds, including endangered species and so forth. You have to introduce the hard concept of tradeoffs for ANY policy and that includes climate change. But it has to be done gently rather than using authority. Skepticism is very corrosive on faith of all kinds which is why Socratic method works.

294 We've spent some time over the past few days discussing what happens when for-profit corporations align themselves against freedom. The conversation that needs to take place more urgently, however, is the hold that nonprofits hold over America.

Education. Philanthropy. Healthcare.

These are under the hammer lock of the Left, and they will control our lives even more than corporations do. We have the ability, at least in theory, to choose what companies to do business with. We really don't with the nonprofit space.

If you want to know that the cause du jour will be with corporations in five years, I always said look at what the folks at Non-Profit Quarterly are talking about today.

After the Night of the Long Knives over the weekend, I'm shrinking that five year time frame to six months.

If no one else of importance objected, then neither would he.

The above is based on Eichmann's statements after the war and as a prisoner in Jerusalem and may be suspect but, too me, it has the ring of truth.

98% of the damage to society, the economy, and rule of law from mass illegal migration has been through passive means - refusal to enforce laws. Like most billionaires his assets are a not a big Scrooge McDuck pool full of dollars. He has properties, and a lot of the value in those properties is in the name.

That value in the US is going rapidly to zero. He still owns Trump Tower, for example. If he sells the property, its worth WAY less than it was 5 years ago. Same with everything else. And he's not going to get new loans or financing for new properties.

I expect he can turn this into a few hundred million at best. Probably the Trump Organization gets turned into the Trump International Organization run out of Dubai.

348 314 Christopher Taylor,
It does not work that way on evidence and trial procedure. Those are codified court decisions more or less. Congress has more power over things like jurisdiction and filing requirements.

The feds have all the power that they want regarding evidence as the whole Russia Russia Russia hoax revealed that the Feebs and political contractors have been abusing the NSA intercept system for years to use as the basis for law enforcement targeting. Michael Cohen is a perfect example--my guess is that they used comm intercepts via a FISA warrant to have him discussing taxi medallion fraud. Then they used subpoena powers and NSL powers to get his banking records, pen register, etc. to justify the subsequent charges and warrants to search his offices.

354 I think you are both right about health issues,

but we have entered a new phase in society. In the past a large percentage of the public were farming. That meant the parents raised their kids, and the family unit was the building block of society.

All the health stuff was a boon to that society. But with technology, we entered the modern era where people live in cities. You no longer rely on your children to provide for you as you age, and you no longer interact with your kids every day at work.

Also, in a farming community everyone has to deal with each other, so the communities are stronger and people are more connected.

No, the modern age started when we went from 90% farmers to single digits. Not that farmers are better people, but that the system mankind had created over 1000s of years was optimal for that society, not for the industrial age.

My kind of model for all this is a company which has built a reputation for quality and customer service, and has a decent amount of assets such as factories and machines. The US after WWII was kind of like that company. The political and educated classes used the cultural, social, and political capital which had been built up as collateral to borrow against, asking for a massive increase in power and influence, much like said company leveraging its assets to borrow a large amount of money for expansion. As long as times were good the debt could be paid, the political/educated classes could provide a stable and prosperous society. However, as time went on, especially after 1990, they became increasingly overleveraged, and hence fragile. 9/11, the dragging on of the Iraq and Afghanistan wars, the failure to contain ISIS, and the rising threat of China were all shocks which demonstrated that they could no longer service the debt which they'd taken out.

366 >>The differences are startling. But, above all else, having your entire

healthy. It is not a sustainable social structure at all.

And how! Here's what I've seen my kid struggle with: teens are acutely aware of their social status and the degree to which they are/are not included in various events/gatherings. If you weren't invited to the cool kids party on Saturday night, you might not have even been aware of it until Monday morning when the stories about it were buzzing at school.

Nowadays, you know immediately where and when your classmates are having a good time without out you, as they are tweeting (or whatever) details, pictures and video real-time. Kids are now real-time spectators to the fun they are missing, which makes the feeling of exclusing much more devastating. And no matter how cool you are, how connected, there are always times when others are having fun without out you -- being pushed in your face.

Saw this last July 4th when picking up the kid at a summer ice cream stand . A gal in the group ahead of us was tweeting selfies enjoying her ice cream before it was even paid for.

It may be dismissed as a matter of law if the preliminary evidence by the plaintiff shows that the plaintiff is unlikely to prevail in a trial over the breach or that construing the contract, no breach occurred. But, summary dismissal is one of the biggest reasons for appellate reversals as appellate judges often send the case back to the district level for a trial.

Yeah, I mean privately people have always been sleazy. Humanity is sinful no matter what. But publicly there were standards and mores which are utterly gone.

When I was young nobody walked around swearing constantly, you kept that for private areas and special circumstances unless you were in combat. People were kind of ashamed to talk about certain topics in public.

Now people are kind of ashamed to talk about moral decent things and God in public, but are foul and horrible as loudly as they can be, everywhere.

389 It does not work that way on evidence and trial procedure. Those are codified court decisions more or less. Congress has more power over things like jurisdiction and filing requirements.

I'm pretty sure the rules for evidence gathering and standards for arresting people are all on the law enforcement side, codified in law. There's a lot they can change which would grant greater power and reach for the federal government.

Most of it would be unconstitutional back in the old days of the republic, but that's not an issue any longer.

This Capitol nonsense is 99% fabrication and distortion, and is being imposed on the country as truth, or fact.

You have f***ing members of Congress calling on other members to resign, accusing them of being involved with "insurrection". The lazy "oh this is nothing new" view will immediately race back to the 1850s to say, "oh this is nothing new" - which is nonsense. Nothing like it in the modern era.

402 350 rhomboid,
It is my contention that the Clintons developed a huge database for political blackmail of opponents. First they used disreputable PI's for their dirt and then official government records were scoured.

The Patriot Act and the move to digital comms along with pervasive databases from commercial companies spying on their customers made it even easier to target and cull out opposition. It was supersized by the Obama administration where you could consider the entire conversion of the federal government happened to expedite domestic spying on opponents. That corruption includes the Gang of 8 which is why Angelo Codevilla calls for getting rid of the whole national security surveillance apparatus.

This fact will be difficult to find, however, as there is no press, and now the official propaganda organs have zero push-back, strong tail-winds, and no limits.

If VDH and Prager have actually bought into any of this, it adds to the free-fall degradation we're experiencing.

Oh - and I am gonna go out on a limb and guess that being fired from your job for attending a political event in DC is also not "normal", and is, in fact, pretty much something new under the sun.

Talk with your financial planner if you have assets to save. Everyone's plan should address individual problems beyond the limits of the AOS grey boxes.

Do you have a small business with cash laying around? Then perhaps you might just want to splurge on a solar system for power disruptions. Do you have a bunch in 401k's? Then you might want to plan out what to do on withdrawal if the Dems come after them as they have threatened to 'nationalize' them.

Do you bank with the monster mega banks? Be aware that your deposits and cd's and ira's are treated as unsecured loans to that bank. Move it to a credit union that makes safer loans. And so on.

Posted by: washrivergal at January 12, 2021 11:50 AM (66BnU)

I doubt she's sleeping well at all. I looks like she's been taken into custody. Two days ago, a radio talk show host claimed that a top general - one in a position to know - told him that Pelosi would be arrested Monday. Towards the end of that day's broadcast he also reported quite a few troops being spotted at the Capitol.

The next day, there were no troops and no news item about good ol' Nancy. The talk show host took all kinds of grief, and he swore to never pass along another prediction. Another g-damn hoax!

But by the end of the broadcast word spread about something somebody had noticed. Nancy did not come to work that day. So it's either an incredible co-incidence that Pelosi happened to take a day off from her impeachment frenzy the exact same day that somebody said she'd be arrested, or she's been arrested. Probably, they moved the timeline forward, and those troops spotted help capture her the previous evening.

It is almost exactly like they have no credibility and are Chinese agents.

Do you bank with the monster mega banks? Be aware that your deposits and cd's and ira's are treated as unsecured loans to that bank. Move it to a credit union that makes safer loans. And so on.

Credit unions and savings and loan companies come under federal laws and scrutiny also. What makes them better?

When the communists come for our money and property, no place is safe. We're living in a whole new reality now.

I am not holding my breath for anything but us to save us. The Lord is always coming again but, thus far, He never has gotten here in time so I do not have to do my homework. On the other hand, if this is true then I will rejoice in my as well prepared as I can make it apartment.

Buy weapons and ammo, lots. Buy gold, liquor, food, water and gasoline. Buy a 25 foot RV and a repair manual and tools for that RV. By a four wheeler.
Buy enough camping gear that you can live outside indefinitely.

Did I mention weapons and ammo?

418 Trump supporters forcing their way into the Capitol on the 6th is analogous to the abused wife slapping her husband on the face as he approaches to beat her up for the umpteenth time.

The world at large seems to be aghast that the abused wife might strike out while ignoring the many beatings already endured from her bullying husband.

Gold is way too high to be a solid investment. Silver maybe.

If I were to go in that direction, it would be a tent, two or three practical firearms with a basic load of ammo, food, water for three days, and a pack bicycle much like the NVA used on the HCM trail.

Of course other implements of survival would also be taken, including a freshly stocked first-aid pack.

421 White Supremacy. Because the only reason Americans would have to be mad at having their votes thrown in the trash is because they dislike those who don't have their own skin color.
