Saturday Morning Coffee Break

The Saturday Morning Joke

A nun walks into Mother Superior's office and plunks down into a chair. She lets out a sigh heavy with frustration.

'What troubles you, Sister?' asked the Mother Superior. 'I thought this was the day you spent with your family.'

'It was,' sighed the Sister. 'And I went to play golf with my brother. We try to play golf as often as we can. You know I was quite a talented golfer before I devoted my life to Christ.'

'I seem to recall that,' the Mother Superior agreed. 'So I take it your day of recreation was not relaxing?'

'Far from it,' snorted the Sister. 'In fact, I even took the Lord's name in vain today!'

'Goodness, Sister!' gasped the Mother Superior, astonished. 'You must tell me all about it!'

'Well, we were on the fifth tee...and this hole is a monster, Mother -540 yard Par 5, with a nasty dogleg left and a hidden green...and I hit the drive of my life. I creamed it. The sweetest swing I ever made.

And it's flying straight and true, right along the line I wanted...and it hits a bird in mid-flight!'

‘Oh, my goodness’ said the Mother. 'How unfortunate! But surely that didn't make you blaspheme, Sister!'

'No, that wasn't it,' admitted Sister. 'While I was still trying to fathom what had happened, this squirrel runs out of the woods, grabs my ball and runs off down the fairway!'

‘That would have made me blaspheme!' sympathized the Mother.

'But I didn't, Mother!' sobbed the Sister. 'And I was so proud of myself!

And while I was pondering whether this was a sign from God, this hawk swoops out of the sky and grabs the squirrel and flies off, with my ball still clutched in his paws!'

'So that's when you cursed,' said the Mother with a knowing smile.

'Nope, that wasn't it either,' cried the Sister, anguished, 'because as the hawk started to fly out of sight, the squirrel started struggling, and the hawk dropped him right there on the green, and the ball popped out of his paws and rolled to about 18 inches from the cup!'

Mother Superior sat back in her chair, folded her arms across her chest, fixed the Sister with a baleful stare and said..............

'You missed the fucking putt, didn't you?'

Good morning Morons. It's Saturday morning, time for a beverage, opine and bloviate away in this open thread. Just a couple of rules, no pulling the 'ettes hair, no running with sharp objects and be nice to one another. Have a nice weekend!

13 So I go through the drive through to get some coffee this morning, I splurge once in a while rather than home brew, and as I'm glancing at my change I noticed something that surprised me.

I took a closer look at the quarter that came back and it is a 2020 National Parks quarter, specifically American Samoa. The damn thing has bats on it. There's like a momma and baby bat design.

FWIW, I think that 'plan' you linked from the Nye COunty GOP seems to be consistent with the PDTS MO in that he would exhaust every legal means and giver everyone, including his enemies a chance to do the right thing. However, that 'plan' requires the support of some very key players and entities in the gummint too. And make no mistake, it would very likely require military participation at some point.

I'd be inclined to believe that's going to happen if PDTS came out told Biden: Joe, you know this election was fraudulent and stolen. You yourself said you had the biggest election fraud organization ever. Your vice president said that violent protests weren't going to end after the election. Spare the country and the world from further violence and mayhem. Do the right thing Joe. Concede.

I will be pleasantly shocked if it does.

The OEM blades on the car now have lasted for at least a year and a half now -- I don't know when the previous owner put them on, but they still clean the glass well. One is starting to split at the tip.

Usually I clean mine with a little rubbing alcohol from time to time, and get the grime off each week when I wash the car, so maybe that helped the longevity. I'll wash and clay the glass to get it clean and smooth, then put the new blades on.

77 One of my favorites! I love religious jokes the best, I think. I have a few that I've even told pastors, against my better judgement. They loved this one:

At the end of the sermon, the pastor is at the door, greeting a line of parishioners. A boisterous man in a cowboy hat shakes the pastor's hand, loudly proclaiming, "That was a DAMN fine sermon!"

The pastor quietly thanks the man, and says, "Well, I thank you but there's no need for..." The man interrupts the pastor, "Hell! I don't think I've ever heard such a damn good message, Pastor!"

The pastor is clearly uncomfortable now and says, "Thank you, but you really shouldn't cuss in the Lord's house like that, you know." But the man continues, "Sonofabitch! It was such a good sermon, I put ten thousand dollars in the offering plate!"

The pastor's eyes get big. He leans in close and whispers, "No shit?!"

I use a big glass jar with a cork stopper I picked up at World Market or Pier One years ago. It's got a wide base, so I can put it in the trunk of the car (well, I used to) and bring it to the bank without it spilling.

Now I just load my pockets with about a dollar in change, a mix of silver and pennies, so I'm won't have to break a dollar bill. If merchants are gonna bitch about a coin shortage and ask for exact change, I'll give it to 'em . . . even if I am slowing the checkout line down a bit. Heh, heh, heh.

I recall one of the books written by Vernor Vinge about 20 years ago, he was always one of my favorites. In it he had one of his protagonists visit a planet much like ours where advanced communications technology was just being implemented (a lot like our world) and one of the more aware characters noted that they were in that technological sweet spot where it was all still wonderful and let people do more than ever before. But he knew that within 20 or 30 years, it would all become a tool to run 100% surveillance on everyone, all the time, and that this new tech would push them into one of the worst tyrannies ever known.

All websites are hosted by an ISP (internet service provider). The powers that be decide they don't like your webpage or your content or your commenters and turn off your ability to have your webpage be connected to the internet.

Left to the people who decide such things, you can rest assured it will take a political bent and only one side will be affected.

You get de-platformed, as in no platform with which to share your thoughts via the first amendment.

Pretty sure I used them on the previous car, the Buick Regal. They seemed fine. As long as a blade isn't split and doesn't smear the windshield when I use the washer fluid, I'm fine with any brand and don't mind replacing them every year -- as long as they don't cost $60/pair.

Since it doesn't freeze here very often, I could use plain water in the washer fluid tank, but that probably wouldn't work as well. When I had the BMW, I bought their OEM fluid, and still have some in the Buick.

If you think everything is hunky dory then you are probably suffering from disassociative amenisia. My professional opinion is that you should embrace your paranoia . Long term effects of disassociative amenisia can result in reality biting you in the ass. Paranoia in your case will merely result in your friends and associates being jealous of your ammo inventory.

If Joe is sworn in January 20 it's basically going to be swearing in the Chinese Communist Party.

I was thinking that the CCP will move quickly to consolidate their victory, and speculating as to what form that would take, then it occurred to me that maybe they're already kind of there. Maybe they've already compromised everything and it's how Joe won.

Maybe there are some things still beyond their reach. If the inauguration takes place I will be looking for signs of consolidation.

I would grudgingly support a military takeover to prevent this, but would the military?

Brave. Made by Brendan Eich, the guy Mozilla kicked out -- who actually MADE Firefox -- because some hackers found out he donated to California's Prop 8, eight years prior -- a whopping $50! (Marriage = 1 man + 1 woman).

I've been using it on PC, Kindle, and phone for a few years now, and I love it. Very secure. Has a toggle switch called Shields, which blocks ads, scripts, and trackers, selectively. Firefox, the leftist convergence notwithstanding, became immensely bloated by the time I switched.

Go easy on Instapundit. He has been remarkably stalwart for a known public figure at a public university. He allows people on his site with divergent views and that is not a bad thing.

I do think it is an acceptable position to opine that it was bad for people to enter the capital building, even though I thought it was ok (if only to give the other side (the uniparty) a small taste of the tactics that have been used so effectively against the general public). I only ask that those who take that position acknowledge that the uniparty has completely failed to make a meaningful objection to those tactics when they were used against the general public. Most of Instapundit's contributors who criticized the entry into the capital building have have posted comments that also acknowledged the uniparty's failure to meaningfully oppose those tactics when used by the left. We have to be able to hear other opinions without tossing everybody who voices them off the "team".

I've gotten hooked on watching videos (but mostly just listening) of miniature gas engines. Saw one the other day of an old machinist who is not me who was hand-working a little miniature camshaft for the engine he made from scratch. Some of them are for RC vehicles but some are mounted on a stand and get fired up at shows and videos.

Somehow, someway, I got to a youtube video about a guy named Stobe. He was a semi-professional hobo, who hopped trains all over the place and filmed his journeys.

Turns out, there are a few characters who do this, sneaking onto various box cars and such and travel from place to place, filming it and putting the vids up on the tube.

For some reason, it's interesting to me to watch these folks live this kind of life.

313 My wifes car, an Audi, had a check coolant fluid message pop up. So I popped the hood and sure enough it was a little low. In the garage I have some coolant and I go to fill it up. On the bottle it says can use in any car with any color. But the Audi manual says you have to use only this specific one. So not wanting to mix colors and have someone at the dealer invalidate my warranty, I drove down to the dealer, 9 miles away, and had them to it off with the Audi approved brand. Which is most likely the exact same shit I have in my garage.

But think about who, or what, has let you down. Was it Trump? I think not. I disagreed with his setting off the lockdown madness, but I recognize that he may not have had a choice, politically. Just look at what he did regarding the COVID vaccines. Trump is the guy who has done the impossible, including getting elected in the first place. Remember that in the Real World, Trump had an unbelievable victory in the election.
It was even beyond what I predicted, based, in part, on what Dave_in_FLA and others here had figured out. We've seen mind-boggling betrayals, and widespread outright treason, but that's not on Trump.

This has been the biggest crisis ANY POTUS has ever seen, including Lincoln. Trump has figured out a way to fix this, and I'm positive that your second link is the answer (or close enough). It puts all the pieces I had figured out together, and adds the pieces I couldn't figure out.

If wolves in Minnesota are coming into conflict with humans it's because winters are colder and snowier.

He said he thought my taking up shooting was perfect.
He seemed pretty wise for his age.
So, Family, Friends, Fun and I'll add Food to that and staying off social media which seeing as they have deplatformed everyone I usually read except here makes that easy.

I think that the fraud was massive enough that PDT received a majority of the votes. Vote by mail is one of the most fraud prone ways of voting. Take a gander at the GA Judiciary Cmte hearing done by RSBN while you can. It is about six hours but completely describes how voting systems can be subverted completely.

They gave her a laundry list of stuff that made her car dangerous. One key is that while it seems like all the procedure required has been done to elect Biden, it really hasn't. Trump is the top law enforcement official, and every election law in the book has violated 100,000 times over. Marbury vs Madison precedent makes SCOTUS the last line of defense for the Constitution, but that's not actually IN the Constitution, and when SCOTUS de-legitimizes itself - as it clearly has - the simple reality is that the POTUS has sworn to uphold the Constitution too, and logically must step in.

Trump's term expires 20JAN, so the answer to that is to hand it over to the military. It also served the purpose of eliminating conflict of interest. The military has no term expiration, and has the Constitutional duty to defend the nation from enemies, foreign and domestic, which is clearly who is behind this.

It's brilliant! If it seems too extraordinary to be real, consider that extraordinary situations require extraordinary action. It fits PERFECTLY with his "concession" tweets too.

443 Look most people are disheartened right now because of the media and actions by the Dems such as an apparent pointless impeachment.

It is all smoke and mirrors-the US is not China, if anything, it is more like Afghanistan in that you have a large territory with a variety of tribes with a history of antagonism. Even in China, people still find a way to get information around the censors.

The tribe of leftist liberals is about 25-28 percent of the US population and up from about 20-22 percent a few years ago. Righties and Right leaning about 35-40 percent. The rest are bystanders that have a strong preference for no violence but are increasingly restive about COVID lockdowns, economic deprivation, etc.

Even with the flawed data, PDT received the highest pct of minority votes of any GOP president since 1960 and Richard Nixon. Don't be gaslit by the media and keep a light heart. Even GopE is recognizing Dem overreach and it is more or less the beginning of the end for the Techlords. No one, even their allies, like them.

"Gel around a divine being." I hope that my faith given by God is always the foundational cornerstone of my life.
Why do we have this idea that if you believe in God it and desire to serve him it means you think you do nothing else but wait for God to do things. Did Jesus do that?

MAGA and sovereign state concepts still lives ... that is still the movement. We were not doomed to lose, they were, so they stole it. Now they have to convince/threaten the people into compliance. Oh, and just brainwashing via schools and BigTech is still a big part of their game ... but imo a majority still sees DeepState as an evil globalist power.

George Washington was a Virginia gentleman who against the prevailing morals of the day read other men's mail, engaged in brutal violence aimed at the British officer class, and "stole" this nation.

When in power he acted according to his morals and was gracious and generous but make no mistake when necessary he had moral maneuver room the "muh principles!" purists lack.

The current state of play is because of this.

Exactly. He attacks people who attack him. He's a hell of a lot more forgiving, and more willing to find a way to work with the Devil than I could ever imagine being. That's part of what makes Trump, Trump. Really, Romney should be at the top of your list. Trump reached out to him, and supposedly talked to him about being SecState or something, even after the unbelievably vile and slanderous things Romney said about him. Romney was apparently too much of an asshole to make peace.

Speaking of Romney, if you subject yourself to the long and complex history of the voter fraud machines, I recently learned that Romney's Bain Capital plays a role. So that's interesting.

465 Trump's term expires 20JAN, so the answer to that is to hand it over to the military

So the first problem with this plan is "the military" can't hold an office. Some person would ultimately be the executive, and there's no reason to trust anyone promoted during the obama years (and if Trump ever purged that lot, I didn't hear about it).

The second is that it couldn't be secret enough for the uniparty and their Chinese masters to be caught unawares, *and* be known to all of us.

Good points, both. I've almost always plumped for the mid-range in whatever I bought, from cars to watches, i.e., not the cheapest and not the most luxuriou$$$. So $30 a blade is ridiculous, and $2.50/blade is a little too el cheapo even for me. $5-7/blade is about right.

Of course there comes a time when going for the mid-range can be false economy. With age and wisdom, you can discern when those times are.

507 BTW, I see that many of us have demoted ourselves away from "President-Elect". In the unlikely event that Biden is sworn in on the 20th, I will promote myself to "President" on similar grounds.

A link that Taqiyyologist shared in the last thread has really set a light bulb off, and I see Trump's basic path to his rightful victory, which he clearly is following, and there's no way it doesn't work. The enemies have revealed themselves; the white hats are clear, and they will carry the ball until this is fixed. America will not be rolling over for the Communists, thanks to Trump pulling off the impossible - AGAIN.
