2 Good Morning Morons. Today is Saturday, January 2, 2021. On this day in history in 1942 The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) obtained the conviction of 33 members of a German spy ring headed by Fritz Joubert Duquesne in the largest espionage case in United States history, the Duquesne Spy Ring.

47 A random observation: I watched The Peanuts Movie for the first time last night. It was actually better than I expected it to be, probably because Schulz' sons (I think) were writer / producers. It's not a movie I'd watch again, but it was a pleasant diversion. The basic plot is insecure Charlie Brown pining for the Little Red-Haired Girl, a standard tope of the strip.

Nicely animated, good use of the classic Vince Guaraldi music, and use of older characters like Pig-Pen, Frieda, Patty and Violet, though, sadly, not enough Shermy.

Look at Warren Wilhelm and his beard "dancing" in Times Square. In the 1970s, Noo Yawkers would have flooded the spot and beaten the asshole into a coma. Today, they all cower behind the Mask of Cain and wait for Big Daddy Gubmint to "allow" them outside.

Posted by: MPPPP

I did not realize I was stupid and lazy. To each their own. Of course, pot's not your drug of choice -- whatever *your* drug of choice is does not make you stupid and lazy; that's human nature (to defend what they like). But let's not kid ourselves that alcohol, as delicious and fun as it can be, is not horribly toxic in many ways that marijuana can't remotely replicate. For starters, alcohol is a solvent. Yeah, let's drink solvent!

Think about this for a moment: alcohol was prohibited in by our Constitution from 1920 to 1933 (what an embarrassing concept). When it was rescinded, it was just in time to lubricate everybody up so FDR could work his magic. Yeah buddy! By the way, CBD is not psychoactive at all and people don't OD on THC (as they do alcohol). So keep blaming one of the plants God put on this Earth for us to enjoy.

100 1984 newspaper date:

Five years later, however, Winston found a copy of The Times newspaper which featured a photograph of Jones, Aaron and Rutherford attending a function in New York on midsummer, the day that they were allegedly in Eurasia and plotting against the Party. This dated newspaper, therefore, is significant because it provides irrefutable evidence of their innocence. But possessing such an article is dangerous for Winston because it contradicts the Party's official version of events and this is why Winston throws it in the memory hole where it is quickly incinerated.

Wasn't dunking specifically on you, and I apologize. And as I drink like a Kennedy, I can certainly attest to the depressant and idiocy-promoting side effects of alcohol. It certainly makes me stupid and lazy.

I'll revise and extend my remarks to saying that an authoritarian government prefers a lazy and ignorant public, and comes up with various ways to guarantee that, whether through MUH SPORTS! or mind-altering chemicals or pot or, yes, booze.

Add to that a dumbed-down press and its sister, the vapid "morning zoo / show" that passes for entertainment and information on TV and radio, and you're halfway there to a stupefied public. Why not make pot / CBD legal, to keep people's attention on getting their supply rather than on the issues of the day?

For good reason, stimulus checks, via the Cantillon effect, increase income inequality by heavily promoting asset inflation. This is why the equity markets explode when there is news of more helicopter money.

In this trial run of the New Green Deal via Lockdowns, the plutocracy has practically eliminated fun ways to spend money, so if I were to receive anything, it would go straight into investments. More money chasing fewer assets results in asset inflation.

230 The best police will have no problems getting hired in the best near-tier suburb cities. That's where every company who could afford to was headed anyway, and working at/from home will just accelerate that.

What gets interesting is when the core/corpse cities, now basically just barracks for the Left's warriors, need to be policed out of the still-civilized areas ringing them. It's not fair for each contiguous town to have to take on a lot of extra police, and set up the checkpoints. If the states don't step in to share the cost of sanctuary, perhaps some enabling legislation would allow counties or other bands of towns to pool resources and tax and grant funds to contain the threat, without the center cities getting the vote in how that is done. The guy on the other side of the border wall does not get to vote on how high you build your wall.

While I totally agree, it has ushered in a culture of death that poisons medical care.

It never stops at voluntary abortion, beause it is a paradigm shift ino thinking we can play God at deciding which lives have value. It becomes abort all Downs babies (or potential, based on prenatal testing), then Groningen Protocol of letting imperfect babies doe, then Loverpool Care pathway of killing elderly and defective adults and on and on. Totally unnecessary, but probably where we are heading.

In the 80's the LEOs would often tell about how prior to the shift the duty chief would give the current SITREP and tell them what to focus on. When there was a problem with vehicle thefts, the LEOs already knew who the perps were, or would soon find out, and then would "encourage" the perps to practice their trade elsewhere. Something they had some time to think about while in traction.

The crims just moved to a different town once they healed.

no, that's why I said less criminal. There's long been a style of defense lawyering which is to get a lot of publicity by making outrageous, bombastic statements to the media, with no actual proof at all. It works when the other side is so nervous about their own position that they fold without a fight, like the media did in the Sandman case. But guys like this are always huge bluffers, and once you recognize one, don't let yourself get tricked into believing anything they say.

258 I love how Obama's campaign team can accuse Mitt Romney of giving his employee's wife cancer, and torturing the family dog -- on a call with the press, right out in the open - but Lin Wood twitter theatrics is the worst.

The Left has been doing this for how many decades? They have the loons on their team put their saying the worst, most slanderous stuff out there and no one disavows them, the MSM gives them a platform, and life goes on, no one's reputation is hurt except the target of their accusations. meanwhile, any loon on the right pipes up and its all "we must harshly condemn and silence this person who makes us looks bad."

Meh. Lin Wood worls for Lin Wood, and if he wants to emulate the Left with crazy accusations, whatever. Not like our discourse hasn't already been polluted by the MSM and Democrats attacking Trump and anyone even remotely associated with him*.

This is also somethong that I have enjoyed about Trump since he first kicked off his candidacy: he says the things that a lot of people have noticed or thought and said in private, but have not said publicly (on tv, in speeches, etc.) because the MSM-DNC-Academia have decided the subject/fact is offensive or off-limits.

Maybe they have a F'd up monk ethos that requires them to suffer? The urban outdoorsmen in NYC were granted three star hotel accommodations yet preferred passing out on the sidewalk.

Seattle, with approx 12,000 homeless pisses away over a billion annually to the grifters in the industry. So those on the take have a very high incentive (continued employment in a lucrative field) to make sure that the bums stay in Seattle.

I've seen an ad on the front page of the HQ multiple times now that says "Click to learn the surprising secret of CBD". I'm not sure what that secret would be, since we all know about his French toast thing.

329 Fox's this day in history. Does anyone remember that useless and unconstitutional 55 mph speed limit?

I remember my parents and later me breaking it regularly. I still have a lead right foot . . .

333 Congratulations to Ohio State on being the first seven-win team to make it to the final.

OSU plays in a terrible conference, where the Chinese Virus rules were dictated by an Obama acolyte hired last year. The schedule was put in place over OSU's loud objections. Either Kevin Warren should leave the Big10 or the Buckeyes should.

334 A Starbucks owner in Portland said thats it! Not reopening after he had his store trashed on New Years Eve. I know Portland is noted for many Starbucks, but downtown. Macy's windows were smashed. Why oh why would any business stay in the downtown. In my nearby city, there is no retail in the downtown area. (Common in most cities now)

All of those woke companies had their stores attacked by leftist mobs? You mean they can't placate the mobs with their SJW BS? (looks at Nancy Lugosi's garage) I guess not.

Well that global warming on the driveway isn't going to shovel itself so I'm off for a while.

Haven't seen it Heirloominati but I'm well aware of what Patrick has been doing.
And when Millie talks about gaslighting, stop and think for a moment about all of the defeatism, and PDJT should have done this or that, and who and where you're hearing that from.

337 Coming from the north? Park in the garage at New Carrollton Station and take the Orange Line from there. That's my plan.
Posted by: Huck Follywood

Thanks, yes, from the North, I'll look into that, too. (That's the MTA, right?) Can't imagine mass transit will be unfucked-with.

338 So, I have an extra $600 in my account this morning? I thought congress was still fighting over this. Guess I missed something?

341 Dropped off my friends daughter at her cousins apartment. The stench of Mj was disgusting.

Maybe mj doesnt screw your brain up. I have my doubts based on personal observation.

But one thing the MJ types cannot deny. It stinks bad. That cant be said for alcohol (unless your right on someones breath after a bender).
