FBI aids in investigation of gas pipeline sabotage that turned heat off in Aspen

The name of a radical environmental advocacy organization was scrawled Saturday on a pipe at a natural gas pumping station near Aspen that was vandalized, Aspen police said Monday.

It was not clear whether members of the Earth First! group were involved in the intentional disruption of gas service to the Aspen area - which resulted in thousands of people living without heat or hot water - but the name was found at one of three Black Hills Energy sites vandalized, said Bill Linn, Aspen assistant police chief.

45 Happy New Year, fellow morons!

I haven't bothered to check to see whether we got any "stimulus" funds. I think we make "too much" money. If we did get anything, it'll go toward building the emergency fund back up after it got depleted by job loss and foundation repairs in quick succession this summer. But the good news is that as of a few weeks ago, our only debt is our mortgage! We paid off the last car and some debt related to private education intervention for our older son last month.

Alas, January means it's time to write the extremely painful property tax checks...I can't believe the idiots in my town voted to increase the property tax even more. (I mean I literally can't believe it - I'm not entirely sure that was a free and fair election result. The email from the school superintendent declaring victory on those increases went out awfully early on election day, not long after the polls closed. Makes you think.)

46 Happy New Year, hordelings!
Today is our girl spawn birthday. She has become 15 yrs old. This summer she will be able to do driver training classes. Yay! Here in south central Indiana the weather sucks. Its cold, windy, rainy. We woke the girl up to ask what she wanted.. Go out for shopping and a meal or stay in and start rearranging her room. She wants to stay in. Good. She went back to sleep and is still in bed. Okay. Guess that room rearrangement is gonna get a much later start than planned.

I did get them up a couple weeks before Christmas this year. But I like the cheery lights so will probably leave them until at least mid January to offset the cold and dark of winter.

We have a small Christmas tree that sits in a corner all year. We drag it out into the room for Christmas then push it back. It has two strings of mini LED lights. One set is white the other is multi colored. Use the white lights at various times of the year.

Hopefully, you will see it on the pet thread in a few weeks since I got a nice picture of the cat next to it.

For the longest time, swank French eateries offered sweetbreads, and my M&P always got them. Definitely a thing with the Hispanics, they're always offering some sort of gland or gut or jowels at the local taqueria as a daily special.

The "specialty" of Venice is liver and onions, and I'll definitely say I've never had better. Growing up not so wealthy for a while, if it wasn't free out of the sea, it was something like liver. I never, ever got the taste for kidneys though. Fava beans and Chianti, yes.

One thing CA did right, and that was vote in prop 13. Of course, few states I know of have had real estate that can go up 100% in a matter of just a few short years.

There's no way I could afford my properties if prop 13 were killed off - and I guarantee it's going to happen, sooner rather than later.

Sigh.

At its core, none of this is about Trump. He just happened to be the guy representing us when the totalitarians decided to not even pretend there were free elections to seek the consent of the governed.
======
That's true. But it was Trump's success as the ultimate outsider president that made the Deep State, the not-so-closeted Socialists, and the Globalists join hands in a desperate alliance of necessity to deny him the chance to get the USA headed away from becoming the world's biggest banana republic. So it did become about him to a certain extent. and Ace is just unhappy that Donaldus Maximus Yuugus hasn't given the Caesar's Funeral speech yet.

Jane Seymour, I think . . . who went on to star in Live and Let Die[/i[ w/ Roger Moore.

Actually Henry was not as violent as he's painted. He put Catherine of Aragon, Wife 1, away in a nunnery, so at least she lived; Jane died in childbirth, but many women did then; Anne of Cleves was the supposedly "hideous" one, but he settled a good income and maybe some property on her in the divorce. Catherine Howard was unlucky -- young and good-looking, she flirted with other men, and that was considered treason, so she had to go. But Catherine Parr outlived Henry and did all right for herself.

342 While we're talking about Henry VIII, despite his prediliction for turning his court into a telenovela due to his quest for a male heir to actually ground his dynasty, his true infamy was grinding southern Scotland into a wasteland over gaining control of the northern nation, and crushing an Irish uprising so thoroughly that most school histories pass over it completely.

Fun fact: Four of Henry VII's queens (Anne, Jane, and the Catharines) all came from branches of the same noble family. The Howards had been Yorkist in the time of the Two Roses, but made their peace with Henry VII, and the Howard Earl of Surrey led an army to victory over the Scots at Flodden. The grateful Henry VIII showered honors on them, and their star rose. Howard male heads became earls of Somerset and then Dukes of Norfolk. They had a big say on national policy, and were powers behind the throne for Edward VI & Mary I. The Duke of Norfolk got the chop in Elizabeth I's reign (he had it coming) but a Lord Howard retained her trust enough to be the official leader of the fleet that confronted the Grand Armada.

-------
Henry VIII was quite the athlete in his youth and prime. The irate fatso of later years does his memory little justice. The jousting accident was a proof of him wanting to strut his stuff in front of Ann and the other fine ladies of his Court. "Still got it, babe!" He pushed his luck, took a hard fall, suffered a concussion, and was carted off the field. (Yes Karen, concussions existed before the NFL.) Anne was so stricken by his injury that she suffered the miscarriage of a baby boy who had he had lived been king and made Anne queen for life. Henry never took the tournament field again, and it soured his mood. Also, that was about the time the syphilis he had gotten from...someone....started to affect both mind and body.
