The problem with "intellectuals"? They have no idea how the real world works.

According to Wired, a new bovine burp mask fitted with a catalytic converter catches methane expelled from cattle and converts it to CO2 and water. Methane is a more powerful greenhouse gas than CO2.

This burp-catching mask for cows could slow down climate change

Methane from cattle accounts for a significant amount of global warming – startup Zelp has a comfortable and stylish solution

Don't be shocked. But a municipality has repealed a 50 year old ordinance. Don't worry Indiana will never be confused with New York and/or Woodstock. Sorry Hoosiers.

An Indiana town has lifted a mass-gathering ban meant to deter “hippies.”

Officials in LaGrange last month abolished the ordinance installed back in 1971 that regulates gatherings of more than 500 people that last over 12 hours.

The law was originally installed to prevent another Woodstock from happening there.

“I called it our anti-hippie ordinance,” County Commissioner Dennis Kratz said.

Officials decided in December to remove the law as part of an annual sweep of the books to eliminate archaic regulations.

Thank you politicians for your "One Size Fits All" pain medication laws. Can NSAIDs Really Be This Dangerous?

It's no secret that NSAIDs come with a host of side effects. But how often? And how bad are they? A presentation at the 2020 PAINWeek Conference gives us some numbers. If taken at face value they are horrifying.

Before we get started please note that this study is not from a peer-reviewed journal. In fact, it's not even in a journal article. This information comes from an abstract from one of the presentations at the 2020 PAINWeek Virtual Conference, which was summarized in the December 28th issue of Anesthesia News. So, beware of over-interpreting the data.

That said, a study about what happens to people who take prescription NSAIDs for arthritis of the knee and/or hip is eye-opening because the side-effects are so pronounced. Often these drugs are the only option for people who have been stripped of the option of using opioid analgesics for pain by the anti-opioid zealots. You know who they are.

Gasoline-powered vehicles will always be popular with me. But let the "Greenies" dream.

In a world where gasoline-powered cars have begun to wane in popularity, there’s still some question over what alternative fuel will end up in the lead. Electric vehicles have, understandably, received a lot of attention, but hydrogen also has its advocates.

As it turns out, there are also a few high-profile naysayers when it comes to hydrogen cells in cars — including Elon Musk, who has repeatedly mocked and disparaged the technology. Most notably, Musk referred to hydrogen cells as “staggeringly dumb” on Twitter earlier this year.

Among those not impressed by Musk’s comments? Jim Glickenhaus, of the auto manufacturer Scuderia Cameron Glickenhaus. AutoBlog reports that Glickenhaus recently took to Instagram to challenge Musk — specifically, by suggesting the two automakers go head to head in a race.

I do not make New Year's Resolutions. However, if I did I would not visit Cabot Cove, Maine or Mid Sommer UK. On the other hand I wouldn't mind visiting Petropavlovsk, Russia.

....and therefore Petropavlovsk—from anywhere. It is one of the most isolated areas on Earth.

To reach it by land, you're looking at a journey of over 2,000 miles through the Siberian wilderness, which is about as crazy as it sounds. The summer is mud season, where what few overland trails exist melt into endless, bottomless, truck-swallowing slop. Also, there are bears. Lots of bears. A winter trek is just a bit more manageable because at least the ground is frozen solid. Then again, that's because it's 40 below zero.

Then again I like forests and water and The 'Strid’ at Bolton Abbey, Yorkshire, England, might be an enjoyable place to visit.

While it looks like any other stretch of water that you’d find in many parts of the world, it is known by many as perhaps the most deadly stretch of water on Earth. Why?

This innocent looking stream has supposedly claimed too many lives to count over the years, with stories going as far back as the 12th century.

It is said (locally) that the death rate in this piece of water is 100%. While that is, of course, very hard to confirm, it’s enough to strike fear into the hearts of the locals and visitors alike.

But after my returns, I don't see me authoring Romance Novels. I would rather draft ONT's.

HOW A TRIP AROUND THE WORLD TURNED THIS GUY INTO A ROMANCE AUTHOR
James Bailey has accomplished a lot, but now he's attempting the impossible: getting dudes to read love stories

In the vast wilderness of the literary world, a rare form of author exists — the male romance writer. They’re so rare, in fact, that many believe them to be nothing more than mythical creatures. But with the release of his debut romantic comedy, The Flip Side, 29-year-old James Bailey reminds us that male romance authors like himself are indeed real after all. “Romance and love are universal, they aren’t just female experiences,” explains Bailey who, by day, is an alumni relations and events coordinator for a boys school in the U.K.

Ironically, Bailey’s interest in matters of the heart started because of a serious ailment with his own. At 17, he was diagnosed with a rare heart affliction called Wolff-Parkinson-White syndrome. After undergoing two operations, he was ultimately cured, but he says the experience left him with a “seize the day” mentality. As such, he’s since run the London Marathon, carried the Olympic Torch, made a speech at the House of Commons and appeared in a segment of BBC1’s Lifeline, all on behalf of Cardiac Risk in the Young, a charity that had originally diagnosed him with his condition.

As many of you know I have 3 wonderful daughters. And I have had my fair share of Chick Flicks and drama over the years.

Dec. 31 (UPI) -- A New York state man filed a class action lawsuit against the makers of King's Hawaiian sweet rolls, alleging the company misled him into believing the California-manufactured sweet rolls are made in Hawaii.

Robert Galinsky of Yonkers said in his lawsuit against King's Hawaiian that the packaging prominently features "Hilo, Hawaii" on the front, but the back reveals they are actually made in Torrance, Calif.

I just went and read Tom Cotton's statement... what a weasel. He is basically saying that congress has no constitutional role in deciding if electoral votes are legitimate EVEN THOUGH THAT ROLE IS LAID OUT IN THE CONSTITUTION. I hope his constituents burn his hide for this. Again, what a weasel.
Unlike Tom Cotton, I have read the Constitution. No where does it say that the courts shall adjudicate electoral disputes as he claims it does. Also, the Constitutions does not have "the people" electing the President. It has state legislatures doing that. They could decide electors by playing a game of naked Johnny-on-a-pony if they wanted instead of holding a popular election and it would be just as constitutional.

To paraphrase: He will not object to the electoral votes because, according to him, Congress has no constitutional role to do that (false as their role is explicitly laid out in the Constitution). Instead, Cotton claims that the Constitution gives the courts the role of adjudicating whether electors are legit (false) and that the Constitution gives the people the right to choose the President through electors (both really REALLY false and beside the point as fraud negates the "voice of the people").
He sold out.

421 I understand Congress' role as that of second fail-safe mechanism. The first and most important being state legislatures. But if if Congress (enough of it) decides the states have failed in their job, it has every right to step in - thus the contingent election procedure. It wouldn't be there if Congress had no legit role.

422 I wonder if we should have analyzed the fraud in states like CA and IL, even though the EVs would not have changed, in addition to the swing states. Of course cheating happened in the 7 or 8 known states, but I would have expanded the umbrella.

Also, why hasn't the early Nov 3 call for VA not gotten any attention. Trump didn't lose his lead until the 4am flip, and I am not convinced Polident Elect won there either.

electors. The states have not fixed it.

No, he definitely said that it was up to the people to choose the President. He said "the founders entrusted the choosing of our President to the people" which is patently false and so much bullshit besides in an election where a shadowy extreme minority "selected" the president through fraud.

"Enough of it" being the key phrase. There is no way that a majority of the House is ever going to decide not to accept the Biden slates of electors. The only remaining hope has always been that the Senate could tie things up long enough to effectively run out the clock and force the presiding officer of the Congress (VP Pence) to declare an impasse, and then the election goes to the House to vote by states.

I think that's rhomboid's point. There have been contested slates of electors in the past (during the First Civil War and in the late 1800's) and Congress convened commissions to try to get to the bottom of it and make a recommendation. Of course, they had until March 4 to get it done, so there wasn't as much time pressure.

442 Servo is right - but I'd expand on the apocalyptic implications a bit (surprise!). The failure of state GOP legislatures to deal with this in the key states (and/or governors, or Secs of State - as in the truly mind-boggling GA example) was the final nail in the coffin.

But Cotton really beclowned himself here.

If he stuck to his probably indefensibly incorrect technical explanation, it would be one level of failure. But to try to fog up the picture with "if we do this, then the Dems will be emboldened to ....." - wow, Tom, that's pathetic.

A party already quite content to see all the most powerful organs of the federal govt. politicized and turned against political opponents, a party that without hesitation trivialized impeachment when the first set of outrageous improprieties didn't succeed, a party that without hesitation moved to destroy even the slightest appearance of election integrity - and ramped up even familiar forms of election corruption to historic heights - that party needs to be "emboldened", Tom?

And stealing, or certainly at a minimum giving the appearance, of having stolen, a presidential election, won't "embolden" them, Tom?

471 As I've noted for weeks, this time the failure is not just possibly of the apocalyptic variety, in terms of import, but is comprehensive.

The GOP just happened to be in charge of the key institutions in the country at this moment (WI MI PA GA legislatures). An amazing thing. And ...... bupkis. So it's not just the Beltway GOP - it's THE GOP, in general.

The "judiciary"? Honestly I have no idea where the lawsuits stand. But I read most of them, and they were the opposite of frivolous. The vote change procedures in PA alone were obviously completely indefensible, and inarguably unconstitutional. Period. Not even talking about the obviously also improper conduct of the vote count. Read the exhibits/evidence for the MI suits, the PA suits, the WI one. The US has never recognized a foreign election with 1/10 of the shenanigans documented therein.

NV (Clark County) was like Zimbabwe - hilariously improper, it gets little attention now.

Country is in deep trouble.

472 Completely off topic, but I thought I'd finally try and be brave and ask for prayers for myself and my health. Though in a bizarre way I feel selfish even asking, because my health issue isn't life threatening, but it has been life altering for the past ten or so years.

The short story is I have a chronic pain problem, and I've tried many things over the years, including surgery, to fix the possible/probable source of the pain. I feel like I've been led by God to a certain course of action now that will help, but in the short term, it'll be pretty painful. And asking for help for the extra pain from my doc is basically a no go, thanks to government overreach/worry only for possible addicts, as opposed to concern for those in moderate or severe pain.

So I'm asking for prayers for strength, to make it through this, and that it would finally, FINALLY be the solution to my pain so that I could get rid of or greatly reduce my pain to the point where I could live a fairly normal life.

I know this post is probably a downer, and out of nowhere, but I thought I'd finally ask for the Horde to pray for my situation before I get embarrassed and not ask at all. Thanks.

509 There are idiots who claim that wind turbines can create the energy used to electrolyze water to make "clean" hydrogen. This is technically true, but this process results in hydrogen that is about 3 times as expensive as hydrogen produced by reformation of natural gas. This expense is a feature, not a bug. All that (subsidized) capital spending goes in someone's pocket.

Prayers up for peace for you, JediArashi.
This is probably completely irrelevant, but years ago wife had spinal pain that became unbearable. She got those shots in the spine (can't remember the name), lots of drugs, and was told she needed spinal surgery.
She was recommended a "soft touch" chiropractor. While I thought it was a form of snake oil. but after a few months of treatment (soft taps and touches on her neck and spinal area), her pain essentially went away.
Essentially the theory is that your nervous system has blockages, and the touching breaks up the blockages, and your body heals itself naturally.
My own eyes told me this worked for her, and a few others I have since met.
I pray for your peace.

You don't make bulk hydrogen by electrolyzing water. Water is completely oxidized hydrogen. You start with methane, CH4, which is is only slightly oxidized hydrogen. Burn some of the methane to obtain energy to strip the hydrogen from the carbon in the remainder.

You can buy small table-top electrolyzers, used to make chemically pure hydrogen as a reagent, or fuel/carrier gas for gas chromatography.

Same general stuff as my wife had. Many years before that, she had some disc problems which were bad (i hadn't net her yet). I wish I could remember more technical information, it was nearly 20 years ago, but I distinctly remember "soft touch chiropractor". And IIRC, there are a number of them now , who study this specific thing.
They take some kind of scan of your neck and back, it shows if/where the blockages are, and then the doctor rubs and touches specific areas. Each session took about 45 minutes or so. I would drive her and wait, because after the appointment, she would be wiped out. The doctor said her body was flushing out bad stuff and healing her. Sorry can't remember more.
Good luck.

I've been living with my pain problem for over a decade now, and I can't even remember exactly everything I've been through to try and fix it. I know my husband wouldn't remember everything, either, and he's been with me for this every step of the way!

I know they've learned a lot more about nerves in the body, both in the spine and in the muscles, in the last couple of decades, including a lot of new information on how nerves can possibly regrow or heal themselves with certain non-surgical treatments that sound similar to what your wife went through. What used to be considered fringe theories are now being practiced by regular physical therapists in major hospitals, which is why I don't discount things just because a single doctor says it "shouldn't" work or whatever.

We have a couple of Jeeps in our family, one of them replaced a dodge caravan minivan, which is part of the same company and has many of the same problems. Had to get rid of the caravan because it wouldn't start. Not an electrical problem, it was a cpu problem. The new jeep has now started the same problem (or not started actually).

Jeep supplied all the vehicles for the fraud-elect biden to have his drive in "rally" right before the fraud election. Identical black jeeps. If I had known that, I would not have bought a jeep last year.

572 Didn't see much talk today about Nancy Pelosi being reelected to the speakership. Not a huge surprise, but there was some agitation on the FAR left about withholding support unless she agreed to hold a vote on Medicare for All. The Squad (including AOC) had all pushed for this kind of thing when they ran for office, but now that they had the leverage to force it, they went suspiciously silent.

I guess it's slightly comforting to know the DNC is full of sellouts, too, and has their own version of failure theater. Living under a corrupt, centralized government/big business hybrid is slightly preferable to full out socialist utopia.

My husband had very similar symptoms to yours. Finally got to a hip specialist in Flagstaff named Dr Amber Randall. She did not want to operate, but sent him to intensive PT. Tons and tons of glute work. 6 months later he was 75% better. Kept at it, and by 12 months the pain is gone. Huge relief because he has had a spinal fusion, and if the PT did not work, he was looking at just living with it. His PT did pull on that leg at every session.

Don't forget the submarine propeller secrets that Slick sold to Hihachi or Toshiba or Yamasaki, I forget which one. How he did not end up under Ft. Leavenworth for those things indicated back then that Repubs were dirty, too.

Has anyone here seen the vid of new Sec Def thanking VP Pence for his assistance in some very complicated, recent military maneuvers?
I haven't. Only "heard" about it.
Also, have seen vid that more to Space Force than meets the eye.

664 #669 SMH,

Hey, look at that, listed three prominent leftist pedophiles in a row, and got 666 for a post number. They really are offering their aborted babies to Molloch, aren't they?

665 Sam Adams, is it confirmed that that was Roberts in the water swimming with Oil Slick Willie at Epstein's place?

Posted by: clutch at January 04, 2021 06:04 AM (9UmRs)

666 #667 clutch,

Not to mention them letting Wen Ho Lee steal ALL of America's nuclear weapons secrets, including weapons we never even assembled, as well as classified rocketry and satellite technology (Thank you, Bernard Schwarz at Loral Space and Communications), dual-use computer technology, classified encryption technology, and much, much more.

The Clintons should have been tried for Treason, convicted and executed. That they have been allowed to flourish speaks to the rot within Washington.

The video I saw? It was John Roberts, no doubt about it.

No Miklos, that was Slick, sold those propeller silencing secrets for 1996 campaign cash.

669 Goof morning!
The "Amen and Awomen" stuff is just. . . hilarious.
They have no idea how stupid this makes them look.
Like Obama constantly mischaracterizing the few bits of the Bible he knew (brothers keeper = yes, we totes need Socialism, per God!).

672 676 Lizzy,

That "brother's keeper" crap makes me laugh my ass off! They think they're alluding to some sacred duty to their fellow man! Never, EVER read the story of Cain and Abel? Lord, but this is how they come up with their platforms....They're actually THIS DAMNED STUPID!

673 >>John Roberts is on the flight manifest for Pedophile Island, and it looks like they have video of him swimming there with Bubba Clinton, so, pretty damned sure he's little more than a child-molesting puppet

Was that something Lin posted/linked to?
Saw some of his recent tweets, and holy sh#t, he'd better have backup. He's alluding to stories (alleged) that've been leaked out on CDAN for years.

Posted by: Lizzy at January 04, 2021 06:13 AM (bDqIh)

674 I don't care what Roberts likes. But the guy bringing it up, and then the pearl clutchers making accusations against him for bringing it up are both fucking stupid. I'll go ahead and piss everybody off.

676 #675 clutch,

And told them how best to hunt for American nuclear submarines. Just look for the quietest spot in the ocean.

Ever read the entire Cox Report? Everything in that report was unanimously agreed to by Republicans and Democrats regarding the complete loss of American national defense secrets. I downloaded my own copy, but you can still read it online.

It's House Report 105-851

679 Lost all defense secrets on every single nuclear weapon ever in deployment. Clinton also gave them MIRV technology, so they could miniaturize nuclear warheads, and put ten on each missile. There is soooooooooo much we owe the Clintons for!

680 Can we get rid of this Attila creep?

Well Clinton kept our HR files secret. Oh, no he did not. All those FBI files. That was only one of the tells the FBI was bent. Obama let those go to China.

What sad people. Not even American. Just barbarians.

684 687 NaCly Dog,

Yep, that incident told us everything. The very first thing the Clintons did was to seize almost 1200 classified FBI background checks on all members of Congress, judges, members of Justice Dept., etc.

I believe it was from that moment on that the Clintons effectively put our government under the control of the American Mafia.

And nothing was ever done about it. Craig Livingstone, the bartender, walked unscathed.

Posted by: Sam Adams at January 04, 2021 06:33 AM (VDbGO)

685 clutch,

Look up Wang Jun and Poly Technologies in that report. Bill Clinton gave him a waiver to import thousands of AK-47s to the streets of L.A. They were intended to go to street gangs.

FBI busts the shipment at the docks. Wang Jun presents his Presidential Waiver and walks. Fled immediately back to China, just like the 123 Chinese Clinton donors under Congressional subpoena.

THAT was our president.

Trying to download that report did bad things to my computer. Had to force quit Safari.

690 692 NaCly Dog,

You're absolutely right. They pick and choose who they protect, and they frame and sabotage those they don't like.

Robert Mueller was Whitely Bulger's cockholster for a couple of decades. He let Whitey run around Boston killing all of his enemies, so long as Whitey kept informing on a rival crime family. Mueller knowingly sent three innocent men to prison for murders he knew they didn't commit. Hope that poisonous old son of a bitch burns in hell for that.
