A company I previously worked for about ten years ago or so was creating some promotional video for it. They used actual footage of some employees for it. And then they also used B-roll footage from something else. The B-roll footage/pictures definitely included more "diversity" so yes this is almost certainly a thing. Even if they won't actually admit that it is a thing.

Posted by: empire 1 at February 09, 2021 03:44 PM (JJatH) I don't have a Subaru now but I enjoyed driving the Subarus which are smaller than the Outback - if you don't need tons of power, they are a blast, especially in inclement weather. I know some people who have had problems with their Outbacks (like 2015 and earlier), and I personally found the handling a bit "floaty". But definitely not worse than others in the same class. I just like a grounded drive. They hold their value well so I'm thinking they must generally be pretty reliable. I don't know how it compares to all the other makes but they do seem to have a lot of stupid recalls. Posted by: ... at February 09, 2021 03:49 PM (jBRLB) 157

168 . . . Impeachment---it is a farce to hide that the administration other than any orange man bad policy reversals has literally nothing popular to propose and the fount of their party is an unpopular party hack with dementia issues. What you are seeing is that there is no strong hand at the tiller and each of the Dem oligarchs are doing what they want to do.
Whatever purpose behind main stream Dems (not the woke brigade) has rotted just like it has for the bulk of Republican office holders (except for a small core on the right). Moderates of either party basically have run their race and have no ideas left except trying to buy off each organization of their pissed off base. With Obama at least, the Dems had a core, but defining themselves as Not Trump in 2020 means that the gas is leaking out of the administration and leaving a noxious odor in its wake. It looks like I'll be going with a "Pod" for my move. $400 cheaper than the estimates from the door-to-door movers. Downside: takes a bit longer and I have to hire my own movers on either side. Upside: fixed, predictable costs without hundreds of extra dollars of "unexpected" or "off estimate" costs when the movers are holding your stuff for ransom.

Thanks 196. I am not a lawyer and I would remind everyone here that this is not a trial in the legal definition. Its a political theater presentation whose final outcome has no ability to prevent Trump from doing anything. The legality or constitutionality of this impeachment farce is irrelevant to the Donks. Why? It doesn't matter whether the Senate has the authority to prevent Trump from running for office. The point is that they can create the illusion that he can't run because the legal issue hasn't been resolved. If not resolved, it is possible that is prohibited from running.
So, assuming the Senate votes to ban future office holding, even if ultimately unconstitutional, it gives every tinpot secretary of state the opportunity to deny a place on the ballot because "the Senate said so." Trump goes through the laches and standing BS again. And ultimately it undercuts support from potential Trump supporters who don't want to risk backing someone who "can't get on the ballot" and want to back some sure thing like Jeb!. Posted by: ... at February 09, 2021 03:53 PM (jBRLB) This is correct. DC politicians are theatre actors without the looks. I think most of us have been, at some point, in a real court room during a real trial - its boring as shit with very little going on that makes for Perry Mason catch ya's, arm waving gestures, and thundering finger-pointing excitement... basically Trump's lawyers seem to be your standard everyday working trial lawyers. Now - maybe they are in the wrong setting, since this is fantasy theatre and not really a trial or court of law. But let's not bite into the narrative that Trump hiring Shakespearian actors would have made a difference in the outcome - its pre-ordained. Posted by: empire 1 at February 09, 2021 03:44 PM (JJatH) We have a 2015 Forester. We test drove an Outback after a lady crashed our Rav 4 into bits while she was texti...scuse me, when she sneezed. The Outback's visibility was not as good as the Forester, but we also prefer the small SUV profile rather than the wagon profile. It's also roomier in the Forester, which is nice. Test drive both to see which suits you. Posted by: Moki at February 09, 2021 04:10 PM (+X9Vs) 305

245, Naw, it does it job and then you can uninstall it.
Expect to see a lot more of these sorts of resistance apps as the Biden administration becomes more unpopular by the minute. He already started out at a record low with no honeymoon. Notice the media is not even saying the word in their coverage. The rancid sausage making of the upcoming Covid relief bill and unpopular crap stuffed into it will make it worse and the woke brigade, riots, spikes in crime, unemployment, businesses closing, etc. will further sour the public mood. The Dems running the party literally do not know what to do and they have outsourced (as have Republicans) their bill writing to a bunch of interest group lawyers out to benefit their clients at the expense of the nation. So, they repeat the old tax and spend shuffle which doesn't do anything but make things worse except for certain interest groups that can afford to play. This is hilarious but quite useful as so many companies esp. ones started in the western countries are (get this) majority white employees and white owned. Because that's how it works. I'm guessing that most companies in India are run and have employees who are Indian!!!! Ditto Africa and Sud America. If they really try to press on this white supremacy nonsense they're going to be shocked when people start pushing back. Even those who aren't white. Maybe finally we can have a legitimate convo about how everything that's wrong in the world is not White People's fault. Posted by: jakee308.com at February 09, 2021 04:12 PM (aH4R4) 320

334 CN, that is a bit difficult as a president cannot exonerate for state crimes and investigations. The whole purpose of having a compromised candidate like Biden is so that the puppet masters have literally life and death control over him.

The smart families (but only those where one partner can stay home but then a lot of them are laid off from where they work so...) have switched, are switching or going to switch to home schooling.
Which is the greatest thing that could happen for the families, the kids and the country. It also has the benefit of defanging the teacher's union. I hope they keep it up cause people are learning that they enjoy teaching their kids, the kids enjoy it too with the added benefit of no stupid leftist lies being taught. I figure the union will catch on and bring suit or push their Dem Reps to enact laws to remove home schooling. We'll see at the beginning of the next school year in August on what's going to happen. 352, You need to go to the Supreme Court's decision in Humphrey's Executor or Weiner v. US. This was reiterated in Morrison v. Olson. The distinction is between major officers of the US and more minor functionaries. Major officers are confirmed by the Senate, minor officers reach offices by other means is a gross simplification. A special counsel is a minor officer and thus Congress can control their removal via a statute which was done in the original special counsel (not the independent counsel law which lapsed) dating from the Tea Pot Dome scandal.

The company I work for needs specialized skills and is too small to train - you have to be experienced. They've tried to diversify, but short of one Latina employee, it never seems to work.
Hired one minority that went to lunch her first day and never came back. The person training her said she was 90% sure this person had lied on their resume and realized after a few hours they weren't going to bluff it. Had a few Native Americans over the years...but it's tough when we don't train. But as to the post, years ago, our website had some stock photo of a diverse group of "employees" none of whom actually worked for the company. A special counsel is a minor officer and thus Congress can control their removal via a statute which was done in the original special counsel (not the independent counsel law which lapsed) dating from the Tea Pot Dome scandal.______________________________There is no way the Supreme Court would prevent a President from removing a special counsel who's power includes investigating crimes or potential crimes against the acting President or his family. The Court would rightly decline to hear this under the political question doctrine and leave it to Congress. Let me be clear, the foregoing would only apply if a Democrat fired such a special counsel. If Donald Trump tried to do it, it would be prohibited under the taxing power. 304 This being an open thread, any opinions on the Subaru Outback 2.5 Limited? Reliability especially? I need to trade down from the Crown Vic for something smaller, with much better visibility, which this seems to have.
Posted by: empire 1 at February 09, 2021 03:44 PM (JJatH) My wife has a 2019 Outback, and I have a 2006 Forester. Great cars. Lots of snow in CT right now, and I wouldn't drive anything else short of a truck. Jeeps were on my radar at one point because every other car in CT is a Jeep (the other car is a Subaru), but I'll pass on the Jeeps from now on, thanks to the L(I)V Bowl. That lawyer is just showing he can do two things at the same time. Like nodding his head and rubbing his stomach.
Maybe he had someone hypnotize him while in college and they left this quirk in just to eff with him. He doesn't even realize he's doing it and no one will say anything to him about it. Posted by: jakee308.com at February 09, 2021 04:26 PM (aH4R4) 392
Morrison is much closer to the truth than Humphrey's Executor or Weiner. The President has power to fire a special counsel.

347 Boswell, I agree. For example, the cleanup brigade basically undercut Biden's assertion of the elimination of Trump's intel briefings the day after or so. They stressed the decision had not been made. The stumble on AF1 is another such warning sign, and enough of them, figure advanced planning on 25th Amendment after cabinet in place.

I wanted to buy an outback but I couldn't fit in the door. I'm a big guy. Over 6' and stocky so It was too much of a twist to get in.
I went to a small size truck which was because of the money. I shoulda bought a duely diesel. Jacked up with twin stacks. Yeah baby! That may be my final car if I can manage to get the financing. Big. Comforable. Fuel guzzler cause I don't go anywhere too far away so it won't bother me but other people will get upset. hahahahaha Posted by: jakee308.com at February 09, 2021 04:29 PM (aH4R4) 395

They went Kamala cause who else was there?
The Governor of Georgia (allegedly)? No way was that woman getting the nod. Way too big, way too black, way too stupid and way too loud. Where as they knew Kamala was easy and would go along with the scam. Posted by: jakee308.com at February 09, 2021 04:33 PM (aH4R4) 398

In a way that's actually true. Dogs can hear at a much higher pitch and a vacuum cleaner motor and air movement I'm sure puts out some very loud harmonics in a range we can't hear. And it could be at a pitch that dogs and other animals emit when they're getting attacked/hurt. I know rabbits squeal. Posted by: jakee308.com at February 09, 2021 04:36 PM (aH4R4) 401

392, SH, not what the statute giving power to the AG says. Essentially, the AG is a major officer, a special counsel is not. AG has to fire for cause.
Morrison was simply restating doctrine on minor versus major officers that is scattered throughout constitutional law cases such as Mistretta. See 28 CFR Section 6000.7 with derived authority from 28 USC Section 509 and 5 USC Section 301. Those statutes describe the powers of the Attorney General. Even Nixon had to get the AG to fire Archibald Cox, not himself. The AG and Dept. AG resigned leaving Solicitor General Bork to do the deed. Posted by: whig at February 09, 2021 04:42 PM (pO7gM) 404
