The Morning Report - 12/30/20 [J.J. Sefton]

fatchance.jpg

Good morning, kids. Wednesday and the penultimate day of 2020, which may very well go down in history as "Year Zero" depending upon what happens a week from now in Congress. More on that in a moment, but on the continuing idiocy of the kabuki/bukkake theater that is that body, Mitch McConnell has pulled one of his trademark cunning stunts by agreeing to raise the original $600 insult to the President's demand of $2,000, but only if the new bill includes the repeal of the Section 230 protections for Big Brother Tech.

Honestly, it's hard for me to get all excited about this; if Joe-Blow is/are installed and the Georgia Senate seats are also stolen (as I fear is a likely scenario), Section 230 protection for the Enemy Propaganda Complex will be reinstated as if it never went away in the first place. All this talk about 2022 and 2024 is as idiotic as the illusion of regular order, parliamentary procedure, comity and all that other rot. I mean, for fuck's sake; the judge in Georgia who blocked the purging of voter rolls in two counties is the sister of Tank Abrams. The litany of corruption in that state as well as the five others are well documented and show beyond any reasonable doubt that the 2020 election was indeed stolen. John Lott, who is the nation's foremost expert on gun crimes, 2A issues and an adviser to the DOJ just released a report that concludes up to 368,000 "excess votes" did indeed tip the scales for the Polident-Elect in the critical swing states:

"Increased fraud can take many forms: higher rates of filling out absentee ballots for people who hadn't voted, dead people voting, ineligible people voting, or even payments to legally registered people for their votes. [...] The estimates here indicate that there were 70,000 to 79,000 "excess" votes in Georgia and Pennsylvania. Adding Arizona, Michigan, Nevada, and Wisconsin, the total increases to up to 289,000 excess votes," the summary notes.

Lott, who now serves as a Senior Adviser for Research and Statistics at the Office of Justice Programs, also adds that there are two reasons to even believe the aforementioned numbers are "underestimates":

1) the estimates using precinct level data assume that there is no fraud occurring with in-person voting and 2) the voter turnout estimates do not account for ballots for the opposing candidate that are lost, destroyed, or replaced with ballots filled out for the other candidate

Lott points to universal mail-in voting as a hotbed for fraud, remarking "unsecured absentee ballots create the potential that either fraudulent ballots will be introduced or votes to be destroyed."

This is on top of what we all saw happen in real time on election night, when the observers were kicked out of the tabulating centers, the doors and windows sealed and the pallets of ballots trucked in and, voila! As if the GOP state legislators and officials, did not see this coming. They did and yet still certified the electoral votes. Considering the character of most Republicans in the House and especially in the Senate mirrors that of the useless, spineless, corrupted jellyfish in the state legislatures in question, I am dreading next Wednesday like the plague (a real one, not the phony one foisted on us by the Chi-Coms and their Leftist agents in our own borders).

And for the third day in a row, all eyes turn to Vice President Pence. Edward Davis over at American Thinker argues that the GOPers in Congress should not contest the electors and leave the heavy lifting to the veep:

...opinion has long been divided on what the vice president is empowered to do in his vote-counting role. Ivan Raiklin is hardly alone in his argument. It should not surprise us. Constitutional law frequently is not black and white, as seen in the numerous 5-4 Supreme Court decisions by Justices applying the same law to the same facts.

In other words, Pence should go for it. He need only interpret "votes" as votes from states not in dispute, and count them accordingly. He could declare, "I will not count the Biden electors, or the competing slates of Trump electors, in disputed states where there is overwhelming credible evidence of systemic fraud." Thus would he restore the election win to President Trump, from whom it was audaciously stolen.

What would Pence have to lose? A commenter at Legal Insurrection observed:

Pence should refuse to count votes from the contested states, and dare someone to sue him in court. Then the SCOTUS can simply docket that for January 21, 2021. If the SCOTUS can't stop states from stealing elections, they damn well don't have the power to stop Pence from counting the votes any way he wants to.

One caveat: This has been a season in which everyone seems to be letting us down. Why expect Pence to be any different? The Washington Post reported, "Pence is hoping for a low-key Jan. 6 and is not planning any unnecessary drama, aides said, intending to stick to his perfunctory role. He is eyeing a trip overseas soon after."

But the Post report might be inaccurate, or this could be Trump disinformation intended to cause the opposition to let down their guard.

As for the mention of no "unnecessary drama" in Pence's plans, that doesn't rule out necessary drama. The Democratic election theft was bold and shocking. It calls for a bold, shocking correction.

As I have often stated, the more dire the situation, the more unassailable the logic, the more massive the evidence, the more clear the remedy, the more you can count on any given Republican to ignore it all and do exactly the wrong thing. So, the $62 trillion dollar question is, is Mike Pence any given Republican? With a nod towards the great Milton Friedman PBUH, will the weight of history compel the wrong man (or at best perhaps the unlikely man) to do the right thing?

The world wonders...

Nothing fishy about any of that at all. People want off Georgia's voter roles and judge sister says, ummm, no, my sister will need your credentials for one more election.

But they did. They screwed Bernie - he was their Trump. They just didn't let Bernie get as far as the White House. And they pulled some shady shit to get Obama over the finish line the first time against Clinton - when she was quite a bit more popular than in 2016. Disqualified her Michigan delegates, IIRC.

Both these parties have proven something, and they've done it more than once. They care more than anything about keeping control of their party. They care more about that than winning elections.

A lot of Republicans seem to have this idiotic idea that everything will return to normal, and that the old Bush Party will come back.

They don't realize that the Democrats aren't who they pretended to be, and that they've been scared shitless by the past four years of someone calling them out on their bullshit. That fear is propelling them to get power by hook or by crook, and never let it go again.

We are no longer dealing with rational opponents, but irrational, desperate enemies.

The only bright spot I see - and it'll be a bitter pill for some to swallow here - is that we are far from alone. Blue collar working class folks that typically voted Democrat have no friends either, be they union or non-union. I don't have the anti organized labor reflex that others do. I don't mind making common cause with them. Either way - numbers don't mean a damn thing at the ballot box. But there are plenty of potential friends out there.

It's absurd to pretend that asymptomatic carriers are driving the spread of a respiratory virus to any degree. They certainly CAN spread it, but they're not a major threat and it's silly to have them wear masks to... wait for it... prevent droplets from coughs and sneezes from infecting other people.

Anyway, evolutionarily, what would be the point of infecting a person so that they didn't sneeze, cough, or produce increased mucus that would infect other surfaces? That virus wouldn't last a month.

Utter absurdity.

104 Can someone with more knowledge than I about the details of how the house and senate reconcile a bill help me out? I went looking to see how the two GA senators (and my own house rep) voted on the 2021 authorization bill. I'm looking at the timeline from this link:

https://tinyurl.com/ydx4wsxb

The house passed the bill on July 21. My rep voted against it.Then the senate passed it with amendments on Nov 16. Both GA senators voted against it.A conference committee was convened to reconcile the two version of the bill. Once completed, the 'conference report' is voted on by the house and the senate. Both GA senators and my rep voted FOR the conference report.
The thing I don't know is this: Is there some procedural reason for them to vote for the conference report? Or is voting for the conference report the same as voting for the final bill? My cynical side sees this as a way to vote for AND against something.

210 >>Firing Flynn was a gigantic mistake, and I think that one is on Pence.

Recall that there was at least one deep state plant on Pence's transition team -- the guy (cheif of staff?) whose wife worked for Strzok. How many others were part of the transition team, either RNC backstabbers or deep state plants, who pressured the dumping of Flynn and so many other bad picks while Trump was distracted with the MSM leaking something big every day?

There were so many parts to this coup, I have no doubt there are aspects that have not yet been revealed (and may never be). Not letting Pence off the hook here, just wondering if a trusted aide of his advised him to do what the deep state wanted.

The "science", such as it is, says that wearing the mask (especially ersatz cloth face coverings) doesn't protect *you* at all. It protects the environment and the people around you from the gobs of phlegm and saliva that you constantly eject from your face just by being alive and breathing and talking.

Which is true enough. I've never been "anti-mask" in the sense that it doesn't technically work in that regard. The problem is that you introduce too many other hazards that outweigh the minuscule benefit you get from them. Encouraging touching your face. Trapping exhaled CO2 and pathogens. Encouraging closer contact than you otherwise would if you were "unprotected". Encouraging a false sense of security. Etc.

By being against "identity politics", it lets them frame the argument, in terms of being against inclusion of the other. 384 "The masks aren't talking about someone hocking a loogie at you, it's
about the normal can't-even-feel-them micro-drops of saliva that

true ... symptomatic people should stay home (for flu as well), if they had to go out, a mask might mitigate their infection rate (to others). But they will still be touching their mouth and touching door handles (if brief social closeness is even a viable way of spread).

There are multiple risks to wearing a mask, including some indications that they can make the person more susceptible to covid, or making the person feel safe, so they don't wash their hands and they freely touch contaminated things. The social destruction from the masks is also large ... people don't talk to each other much, it is "not cool", and difficult to read expressions.

Posted by: Warai-otoko at December 30, 2020 09:40 AM (6FeV1)

I'll take Guilds over what's coming. CorpSoc won't tolerate a Guild. Because a Guild can, and will, collectively bargain. CorpSoc wants to name their own price. They really don't believe in an open market when it comes to the price of labor.

And look - I've seen this since the 90s. When I first got out working - all the small AE firms I worked for loved them some Chamber of Commerce. Why ? Because they all shared information about wages in the form of a survey. And then they agreed to pay no more than X for a given job classification based upon said survey. That agreement held up for a long time - in a city of six figure population back in the day.

Yeah, I doubt it would've mattered regardless. If we still have to wear masks because the vaccine doesn't keep us from getting or spreading the virus, having antibodies present probably wouldn't change anything.

Exactly why they love an H1B so much. About two-thirds the pay scale, and no worry about them ever quitting, even for a better offer. If that's not indentured servitude, what is ? And it's nothing new - SE Asia has been doing this for decades. Indonesians and Philippinos used mostly. Nice that our political class is tapping into the practice, ain't it ?

Oh yeah - the Chamber of Commerce party is going to save us all. You bet.

408 Loeffler and Perdue won't even say boo over an obviously stolen
election, but I am to believe they'll put the brakes on whatever lunatic
diktat the Dems come up with?

Still not the argument being made. People ceding that you're right
and they're GOPe/CoC zombies. But there's still a fair amount of the
Dem agenda that GOPe/CoC opposes.

The level rationalization here is just stunning.

"They won't oppose the Chinese invading America but they are in favor of tax cuts."
Unbelievable.

If Mike Pence were to toss out the electoral votes of those six states, or a combo of them enough to throw the vote to the House of Rep., he would WIN 2024's GOP Primary EASILY.

EASILY.

412 argues that the GOPers in Congress should not contest the electors and leave the heavy lifting to the veep

This makes it appear that the new idea is, in reality, a plan to enable the backstabbing, base-hating, anti-America, coup-orchestrating GOP Senate to dodge a public vote on the PDT electors and blame it on Pence.

If the GOP Senators do not compel a vote (every single one can do this) it will be because every single one of them is personally stealing the election and ending the republic.

As for Pence, sure, add now a documented fifth way the GOP had the Dems absolutely beat proving that the coup is at heart a Republican coup.

414 "As I have often stated, the more dire the situation, the more unassailable the logic, the more massive the evidence, the more clear the remedy, the more you can count on any given Republican to ignore it all and do exactly the wrong thing."

Knowingly. Intentionally.

415 "but only if the new bill includes the repeal of the Section 230 protections for Big Brother Tech."
---

IF the GOP wanted to do this, they would have already done it when they had both chambers, SCOTUS, and PDT as a two-term POTUS.

416 Thanks for capping the Morning Report with a dollop of optimism.
I realize the odds are long that Pence will step up and do the right thing. But it helps me (and I imagine many others) to read that it's not implausible that he just may.
There is absolutely no question that the Constitution explicitly assigns the opening and the counting of the votes to the President of the Senate.
Moreover, this is precisely how our Republic has proceeded in counting votes for President since its founding.
And there is absolutely no question that the only recourse the Constitution provides for stopping any officer from exercising his powers of office (be he President, Senator, Supreme Court Justice, etc.) is through impeachment conviction requiring 2/3's of the Senate.
So if Mike Pence as presiding President of the Senate rules that contested electoral votes are fraudulent and therefore will not be counted as votes for a candidate: that's the end of that matter.
So we're going to find out what kind of man Mike Pence really is. Is he clear eyed and courageous? Or is he a cowardly swamp creature with scales encrusting his eyes?
