Opinions are like assholes, everybody has one. My opinion: Beautiful project but what a waste of coffee beans.

Open thread. Feel free to bloviate and/or opine away the morning. Just a couple of rules, please leave the 'ettes hair alone, no running with sharp objects and be nice to one another. Have a great weekend!

gawd, I hated that. Probably cost me $1,000 in traffic tickets before it finally got repealed. Proof that the police love to enforce a stupid rule passed for stupid reasons, just because it keeps them busy and brings in some cash.

18 Not necessarily a waste of beans. Getting the right roast for the right bean is an art as much as a science, unless you take the Starbucks Charcoal approach. There are batches that don't turn out - some beans do better with lighter roasts, some do better with darker, sometimes a bunch of customers interrupt you at a crucial moment in the process. Rounding up a couple of pounds of throw-away stuff isn't too hard.

-

I can't do much about the "someone else" element, but a quick and dirty is

- Melt some butter in a pan over medium heat.
- Take a piece of white trash white bread and push a hole through the center with a shot glass. Put that bread in the pan and crack an egg into the hole. Toast that little medallion, too, especially if you've got kids. They love that piece.
- Find whatever cooked meat is in the refrigerator, be it Christmas ham, Carl Budding turkey, frankenfurters, etc. etc. - and brown it in the pan, too. I usually slice the frankenfurters.

Eat. Syrup is good on it if that's your thing.

80 Honestly, the top G5 team vs Notre Dame should now be the standard bowl game for the Irish until they join the MAC or ACC. This silliness of putting them in high-level playoff games because of TV ratings believed to be tied to their name would easily be countered by people watching to see them lose to UCF or Cincinnati.

I guess there's a .0000001% of .0000001% chance Trump will prevail against this stolen election, but barring that, why in the hell would he be gunning so hard to help out the miserable Senate GOP (e not needed, they're all the same) when they wouldn't pour water on him if he were on fire? He is still fighting! Don't read msm anything; read alternate sources and see what is being done, not just by the President , but by those brave enough to fight. Why is our side so quick to just give up? It's sickening. Fight like your very existence depends on it. For some reason, I'm thinking about my dad, who once followed a city hall clerk into the men's rom and cornered him because said clerk was giving him the run-around about building permits. Dad got his permits that very day. Another local builder was being put through the wringer by an inspector with a reputation for making builders miserable. Said builder put his cigar out in the inspector's neck. Yesterday a bunch of my cousins had a family zoom and spent it reminiscing and complaining about old aget. I knew their parents. Their parents never did that. They were too busy living and enjoying life and fighting whatever they could when they could.

Some beans are good when roasted to a certain darkness and just mediocre any other way. I had a good peaberry coffee once, but I do my own roasting, so I can try it out light or very dark or in-between. I prefer a very full-bodied coffee, so I go for Sumatra coffee, roasted until the beans are black and shiny.

160 back to chickens from the early thread ... the automatic door opener/closer makes life much easier. I did have to end the free range thing after coyotes got them wandering off too far, now they are fenced in with 6' fence. Predators tend to stay away from the house in daylight at least. Some people put fence over the top as well, completely cage them in, or use smaller cages that they can move around to new grass.

I have a license to kill now, for coyotes and coons at least ... need a special one for the bobcats, which are becoming numerous.

188 Coffee drinking has come a long way over the decades. We now can buy beans of particular varieties, fresh-roasted; we can make our own mix of different beans if we want. In comparison to what was going around, maybe she was.

I've watched old movies and TV shows from the 60s and 70s, and a character might offer another character a cup of coffee, and proceed to mix a cup of INSTANT for them! That was really mainstream for awhile.

Oh, I like Valeros - clean, good variety of food, greta stop on a road trip.
This spring I had to hop up to NH for an online order pickup (this was when stores were starting to re-open), and it was masks required at the mall with security at the entrances. However, when we went to a gas station nearby, as we walked in everyone inside looked at us (it felt like walking into an olde west salloon) -- no one had masks - so we quickly yanked ours off. Made me laugh because it was my first time where there was a sort-of tension about masks, and clearly a "live free or die" attitude.

276 Have you ever video'd the process of you creating one of these?

*********

Five minutes of me chewing on the eraser end of a pencil would not be compelling video.

To deconstruct the process sucks the fun out of it, but it goes something like this>. The limerick starts with a punchline. Today's joke was that a person with no anus would be full of crap. The base word at the end of the last line is then 'atresia'. The first line typically includes a name or place name. So, what rhymes with atresia? Artesia, a place.(cont.)

Posted by: Muldoon at January 02, 2021 11:16 AM (m45I2)

277 (cont.) What else rhymes with atresia? Aha, another medical condition, 'amnesia'. So the man from Artesia thinks he has amnesia but lines 3 and 4 often reverse the premise set by 1 and 2. So "full of crap" is marginally less crude than "full of shit" just needs a rhyme (sap, fap, nap, yap...take your pick). Once I've got the AABBA scheme it's a matter of fine tuning the meter. I recite it verbally (in my head), and if it "works" I hit Post.

That's idiotic.

The laws penalized the knowing transmission of HIV, as was appropriate, given that HIV-infection was virtually a death sentence at the time the laws were passed. The laws applied to everyone, and did not single out gays. The fact that gays were the ones most likely to knowingly transmit HIV to an uninfected person did not make the laws "discriminatory."

This is the same kind of stupidity that makes leftists demand we eliminate laws that prohibit murder and robbery, because blacks are the ones most likely to be charged with murder and robbery, so therefore those laws are "discriminatory."

298 It was a lot of fun watching OSU totally embarrass Clemson (and by way of Clemson, Notre Dame whom Clemson whipped in their last outing), but in truth, I'm an Indiana grad and OSU should never have been there for the game. IU has had a breakout year dropping records that have stood for decades in every game. In their only head to head meeting IU was down 14 players to the 'Rona and held OSU (at OSU) to a one play/one touchdown game. IE: IU was one play from an undefeated season and the B1G Championship. OSU, because of 'Rona cancellations, didn't have enough wins to even play in the B1G Championship game and by default, IU should have played as the Eastern Division Champions against Northwestern for the B1G Title. BECAUSE of the CFP money, the B1G executives changed the rules at the end of the season to ALLOW their Buckeyes to play for the B1G, screwing IU in the process. The Buckeyes owe IU their share of the CFP playoff money. Period.

306 Trump as a Republican president in office is still the head of the Republican Party. Part of his responsibility is fund raising right down to the wire

====
And their responsibility is to not stab him in the back.

Fuck 'em.

309 Yeah, baksheesh is bribery. But so common as to be basically customary, and not really a large amount, so it's basically like pre-tipping a waiter or greasing a palm if you will.

310 And on a totally unrelated note, for a laugh, go onto the youtubes and looks up "Orson Welles drunk wine commercial."

In the commercial for Paul Masson champagne, he is clearly lit and flubbing his lines. He has a really hilarious outburst on take two...something like a "Mwwaahhhhhh.. the french...."
Time period appears to be early 80s.

I'm saving any money I might have sent the GOPes to primary opponents of
Thune, Blunt, and Murkowski. I don't live in any of those states, but

Your money won't matter and neither will votes. The franchise is dead as is our republic if this steal is not stopped. Whether we want it that way or not, this will have to be solved with guns and blood if Biden is allowed to cheat his way to the presidency.

Sort of like civil service employees expect to be paid for showing up. If you want them to actually *do* something, an extra payment is required.

First of all, voting is now passé. Secondly, don't send good people to DC. DC is irreparably corrupt. Keep them in your state. You'll need them.

Yup. When I lived in NY every civil servant with any juice expected a 'tip'. Be careful if you didn't give a christmas card to the mailman,

Even when I went to Boise, I could get the garbage man to pick up stuff they wouldn't by showing him a little dinero love. My neighbors were confused.

Find it on Amazon "Muldoon's Library of Limericks Vol. 1" Includes the first 300 or so.

Or you can see the entire collection (well over 600) for free at the link in my nick. I do it for my own entertainment, not for money.

Woman of The People. Down with the struggle and really feels their pain.
These fools that consistently elect people like her and her ilk- I think they really have a subconscious desire for royalty. What else can you call it with an public figure/government official serving continuously in office, subject to no laws that the underlings are held to, and paid to pontificate? And now with even basic voting procedures under question, why not just call her what she is? A fuckin duchess or princess.
