Medicare has approved a payment of 18$ for the first shot and 28$ for the second. As far as we can determine we will not be allowed to bill for an office visit so that is the entire amount we will receive for registering the patients, screening then for covid outside of the office, taking their vital signs, taking a history to see if there are any contraindications to the vaccine, administering the vaccine, observing them in the clinic for a minimum of 15 minutes up to 30 minutes depending on their history, and recalling them in 28 days and going through most of the same procedure again, minus the registration and history. There is also an extensive regime of recording and reporting all vaccination data daily to the state government. We had anticipated hiring someone to manage this new service due to the amount of new work that is required. At this rate we might be able to give 10 shots an hour in each of our 3 clinics if we see no other patients for illness, injury, or covid testing. Do I need to say that we cannot possibly afford to do this for the reimbursement offered. The alternative is for patients to receive the vaccine in some state funded site or clinic. That may take a very long time to roll out. We need many more economists complaining about this, right? Other than John Cochrane, where will we find them? Why do we not find them?

Watching "Manhunt: Deadly Games", which begins with the false accusations against Richard Jewell for the Centennial Park bombing at the '96 Atlanta Olympics and then transitions to the multi-year pursuit of Eric Rudolph, the actual perpetrator.
The FBI gets their ass kicked throughout the story, both in the script and in the action. Not a good look for them, but who among us believes they are deserving of being held in high regard in light of their actions over the last four-plus years?

And, as everyone who knew her predicted, she was late to her own funeral. Right before her viewing service started, the funeral director approached me and told me something had gone wrong in the back and there'd be a delay. I don't remember the details but she wasn't wheeled out until 30 minutes after the service was supposed to start.
I didn't blame the funeral home. It was T. reaching back from the great beyond.

Dr. Pol is a vet in Michigan. It's sort of a reality show on Nat Geo. Most of it is heartwarming and nice but when they have to put a pet down I can't take it. I was crying my eyes out.

When the little boots were really little, we used to watch a lot of public television, and would leave the tv on that channel. Lots of nature shows, very educational.
Turned on the tv one day just as an orca was opening his gigantic mouth and swallowing whole a tiny baby seal. With appropriate commentary in a british accent.

I think butter and cheese were pretty common.
Both are easy to make at home, and both let you use up milk that wasn't going to last long otherwise in the days before refrigeration.
A family I know makes homemade butter as part of their Thanksgiving routine. Put the cream in a jar and start shaking it. When one person gets tired, he hands it off to someone else.
By the time dinner is ready, voila, fresh butter for the rolls.
It's a nice tradition.

I need one of those also, though I did manage to "rejuvenate" my old one by buying a couple of slabs of memory foam to put on top of the old mattress.

I've never seen a great movie version of it, but The Count of Monte Cristo is the greatest escape/revenge story of all time, IMO.
I guess a movie would have to be a three-parter, like Lord of the Rings.
The Wooden Horse is a great true-life escape story. It's about some British POWs who dug a tunnel right in the open by hiding the diggers inside a wooden vaulting horse they'd built.
I see there was a move version of that, but I haven't seen it.

I swear I've been on Interstate highways in OH that had 55 MPH speed limits. Straight line, maybe three miles between exits, no unusual traffic. Woods on either side. I was tempted to push it, but the highway patrol insignia is a winged tire, and there's no way I'd keep a straight face if I got pulled over.

This has happened before. Regular posters who are using sundry VPN's (as I am) have had hashes that matched. It has happened to me. The answer lies with the algorithm used to generate the hash. The symbol set used for the hash is limited, and while duplication may be highly unlikely, it is far from impossible.

Most of the time doesn't know I'm her daughter. Has forgotten pretty much everyone. She had a lot of anxiety when we went to daughter's house Christmas morning, and later with my brother at her house for dinner. She shuts down and won't participate.
By yesterday afternoon she was a bit more herself. (Herself- meaning that of a few months ago). The downward slide mentally is happening very fast
