The 4 year old nods his head in approval. The 6 year old continues, "When we go in for breakfast, I'm gonna say something with hell and you say something with ass". The 4 year old agrees with enthusiasm When the mother walks into the kitchen and asks the 6 year old what he wants for breakfast, he replies, "Aw, hell, Mom, I guess I'll have some Cheerios". WHACK! He flies out of his chair, tumbles across the kitchen floor, gets up, and runs upstairs crying his eyes out, with his mother in hot pursuit, slapping his rear with every step. His mom locks him in his room and shouts, "You can stay there until I let you out!" She then comes back downstairs, looks at the 4 year old and asks with a stern voice, "And what do YOU want for breakfast, young man?" "I don't know", he blubbers, "but you can bet your ass it won't be Cheerios." Fourteen years later they had both enlisted in the Marine Corps. Saturday morning. So I'm going to have to use multiple posts to post part of this reflection for Christmas by this pastor from the local churches:
"Within the Bible I found that joy is often paired with a contrasting feeling. Take for example the story of Jesus' birth. The angels were sharing what they called 'good news of great joy, but the shepherds didn't feel joyful. They felt terrified' Within the Bible I found that joy was paired with fear, sorrow, trouble or difficulty. God's people could experience joy, for God had acted on their behalf, God was with them... Part two-connected to post 23-
"But they were still living in a broken and difficult world -and so their joy was almost always infected by a contrasted feeling. Personally I found this comforting. We are not alone in having our joys mixed with sadness. Another lesson I learned about joy was this: When the Bible speaks about God's joy it does so without condition. God's joy is rooted in God's connection to us, God is joyful when God is able to find us, and bring us back into God's loving care. God is like a shepherd rejoicing after rescuing a lost sheep. Posted by: CN at December 26, 2020 09:01 AM (ONvIw) Nashville has a license plate camera scanning system that tracks all vehicles. They most certainly know everything about that RV's path. But one of their spawn married a nurse who is still scared. So I'm pretty sure they had to choose between seeing us and seeing them. We are forgiving types, and I guess that decided it. No one is sick (of course. I'm pretty sure this household has now survived both variants just fine) and we get to spend the holidays in our own beds. The bad part was the children's heartbreak. Have been reading a lot of Hayek lately, primarily The Fatal Conceit. He makes the point that people learn from imitation and societies advance through experimentation, not from pure reason or the contribution of intellectuals. He further states that intellectuals tend toward socialism because it is a society based not on anything real, only the musings of the intellect. Watching a documentary on Seattle losing its soul to the rabble on the street and it included an interview with the female mayor. She perfectly represents the detachment from reality of the 'intellectual' left.

I know Tire Rack has a good reputation, and lots of folk use them. But, have you considered looking at BJ's Wholesale club? I was skeptical, but went with them for the Volvo wagon, and was totally impressed with the tire choice, price, service and follow up. The thing about the Nashville bombing that is bothering me is the audio warning. Way out of the norm for sociopaths. They don't give a shit about injuring people. Everything was so out of the way to prevent casualties, the time, location, and the warning. Looks like a law enforcement/guvment operation, just to scare people into staying home. Has anyone tried this device or brand Dragon Touch Notepad K10 Tablet, 10 inch Android Tablet .I have had really good luck with Samsung tablets. bothering me is the audio warning. Way out of the norm for sociopaths. They don't give a shit about injuring people. I am here in Manchester TN and the AT&T network is still down. It went down yesterday not right at the bombing, but around 8 am or so. So I guess AT&T turned their switching station or whatever it is off, shortly after the bombing. It is bizarre to me that there was a single point of failure for a huge part of their network. I saw a Facebook meme earlier taking Marco Rubio to task for getting the Chinese Lung AIDS vaccine, therefor using up a dose that an old person could have used, therefore wanting to Kill Abuela.
Rubio is 49 years old. Did this meme mention Sandy OCrazyHo-TittyCaca (age 31), Ayanna Pressley (age 46), or Ho-Queen Castro (age 46), all of whom also got the vaccine? Why no, it didn't. Oddly enough. Nor did it mention that Ted Cruz (age 50) declined the vaccine, as he thinks it should go to old people first. Posted by: Rodrigo Borgia at December 26, 2020 10:19 AM (6dXV7) 180

bothering me is the audio warning. Way out of the norm for sociopaths. They don't give a shit about injuring people. Everything was so out of the way to prevent casualties, the time, location, and the warning. Looks like a law enforcement/guvment operation, just to scare people into staying home. Posted by: TrivialPursuer at December 26, 2020 10:08 AM (k4dH2) --- Folks of a certain age will remember when bombings typically came with a warning precisely to prevent casualties. ok Braenyard, the video of the actual explosion is fascinating. Definitely not a normal homemade "bomb". There is an explosion (the flash of light), then something shoots into the sky (a propane tank with the end knocked off? I've seen that before) and only THEN does the big explosion happen. A homemade bomb doesn't have a staged explosive sequence like that.

Used tires aren't the same as retreads/recaps, though. Hazy memory says that recaps stopped being a major thing about the same time as radials became near-universal. TATP.
There. That's my WAG about the ingredients for the Nashville bomb, based on nothing more than footage I saw from CFP story. White smoke initially, which in my mind is linked with the bomb vests of the ME. They are powerful, but non-incendiary. May have been a small bomb. Does anyone know anything yet? I sent off a set of Pirelli P7's clear across the country for retreading, years ago. Yes, they can be retreaded, and well, too. The thing was? The belts of that carcass must be investigated extremely carefully. Yes, one of mine had a separation, so the other three are still set aside in the shop. The retread guy said a huge number of high-performance low profile radials are running around with broken steel in the belts, and they hold together to the end of the tread life just fine. When you start a second life cycle, little things like that tend to show up on the inside of the wheelwells.

This is war time, I want focus. Those that refuse to focus are just grifters. Posted by: Mark Andrew Edwards, shotguns solve problems at December 26, 2020 11:21 AM (d1uFV) 434
Last night I watched "T-34" which my youngest has decided is great cinema.
It is remarkably fun and stupid for a Russian film. They used Rachmaninoff's piano concerto 2 for their romantic scene, which compelled me to find "All By Myself," for closure - because that's how the concerto is supposed to end, if you grew up in the 70s. A lot of puns are homophones, and are better delivered in spoken form, with the ability to inject a subtle change in emphasis or pronunciationn to deliver the pun. Tying to format for delivery in written form is a challenge.
I imagine that sometimes people scrutinize even my 'straight' comments looking for the hidden pun, to no avail. And some of my personal favorites have passed unnoticed and unremarked. All cars are premium now, no matter the brand unless we're talking entry-level. And Buick is a premium brand in it's own right.
. . . Back in '99 I got a used ML450 for Mrs CZ. Great car, built like a Sherman. My brother in law still has it. Since then we buy *used* Benz's and drive them until they collapse and cannot be resuscitated. Posted by: CZ = FNG To Remain Silent Because, FNG *** Lexus = the Japanese answer to Buick! Got one from an MA1 Off the USS Sierra at Charleston Naval Base in the 80's. Fought it in Base traffic court where the CO of the base was the judge. When he saw my photographs of the conflicting and missing parking signs on HIS base, he dropped the ticket, and went off on base security. KC Jones. Great ballplayer, great guy.
True story, I was sitting next to him at a bar in Boston having lunch at the bar. Said hello, how are you etc. He was being mentioned as possible Coach of the Celtics, but was also interviewing with other teams, on of which was the Warriors. He finished his bowl of chowder, and as he was heading out, played Tony Bennett's I left my Heart on the jukebox. I figured this meant he was going with the Warriors. An hour later the news reported his hiring as Celtic Coach. Posted by: From that time at December 26, 2020 12:15 PM (aAQRl) Processing 0.05, elapsed 0.0591 seconds. |
