The Morning Report - 12/21/20 [J.J. Sefton]

blasbohic.jpg

Good morning, kids. Monday and winter officially begins today, while we seemingly continue to plunge headlong into a rhetorical nuclear winter of our discontent, and worse. A number of stories are in the lead and as is usually the case, are interrelated with implications reflecting my opening metaphor. First up, the President's legal team is headed back to the Supreme Court:

The Trump campaign filed a petition for writ of certiorari to the US. Supreme Court aimed at reversing a trio of Pennsylvania Supreme Court cases that "illegally changed Pennsylvania's mail balloting law immediately before and after the 2020 presidential election." The filing alleges the action was "in violation of Article II of the United States Constitution and Bush v. Gore," and "represents the Campaign's first independent U.S. Supreme Court filing and seeks relief based on the same Constitutional arguments successfully raised in Bush v. Gore," according to the campaign's press release.

"This petition follows a related Pennsylvania case where Justice Alito and two other justices observed 'the constitutionality of the [Pennsylvania] Supreme Court's decision [extending the statutory deadline for receipt of mail ballots from 8 pm on election day to 5 pm three days later]... has national importance, and there is a strong likelihood that the State Supreme Court decision violates the Federal Constitution," the press release, authored by Rudy Giuliani notes.

As the excerpt notes, with the multi-state lawsuit led by Texas against PAGAMIWI thrown out due to lack of standing and Roberts plus the three stooge backstabbers looking to preserve the steal, but mostly Roberts plus the three stooge backstabbers looking to preserve the steal, this is the first of the suits brought by Trump to each of the individual states where the fraud was most egregious and damaging, pre- and post-election. I can't wait to hear Roberts' rationale behind his likely move to toss these suits because Trump has no standing either. Oh, wait a second, there was no rationale given in the Texas suit because, reasons. At this stage, it's easier on my psyche and my kishkes if I go in expecting the worst.

Next up, you'll be happy to learn that the GOP has reached around, I mean, reached across the aisle to The Enemy and passed a $900 billion Chinese COVID relief bill. A few more like this and we'll Cloward-Piven ourselves into societal collapse before we even get the chance to experience gulag living courtesy of the Left. By the way, that is the aim; if not in actual gulags (and I will not dismiss that possibility out of hand given everything we have been through this past year) then via economic dependence on an all-powerful central government. Just like the framers of the Constitution had in mind!

Unless and until the lockdowns are unilaterally lifted, our entire economy is on track to be fundamentally transformed (wink-wink) forever, centrally planned from DC to inflict maximum pain on the average citizen and provide maximum comfort for our overlords. No more small businesses, no more self-reliance, no more freedom.

And now, just as two vaccines against the Chinese Lung AIDS virus, which was never the existential threat to wipe out humanity that it was and still is being pimped, are being distributed comes news from England that a new strain of the virus has appeared which means more lockdowns are necessary. Translation: China wants to deliver the coup de grace against the US and the West once and for all, so render the magic bullet - which Trump was never supposed to actually bring about but did at "warp speed" as promised - useless. If anyone reading this believes there is a new more powerful and deadly strain of a virus that was marginally more lethal than seasonal flu about to wipe out millions, I have to ask how the hell did you wind up on this page in the first place?

About the only thing I can say with any certainty is that there is a direct correlation between the millions of Americans who supposedly died from this and the number of votes Polident-Elect Joe Biden received after 9PM on election night. With that as a convenient segue back to the election heist, it certainly does look as if, barring the invocation of the Insurrection Act, the election is going to ultimately be in the hands of the GOP in Congress come January 6th.

Churchill recounted his exchanges with Admiral Francois Darlan, who was chief of the French Navy at the outbreak of World War II, and who wanted above all to rise to the top political post, Minister of Marine. Darlan repeatedly assured Churchill that, come what may, the French Fleet would never fall into German hands. As France was collapsing under the Nazi invasion in June 1940, Darlan was prepared to order his ships to sail to American and British ports. But, in the last gasp of the Third Republic, Darlan finally achieved his much hoped-for political elevation. He never gave the order to sail, and, when General Georges asked him why, he replied "I am now Minister of Marine." He wished to remain Minister of Marine in a new government, even under German control. He got his wish...

... It was thanks to Darlan that the British were forced to open fire on the French Navy at Oran in July, a month after the French surrender. This is a chapter in their history that the French would rather forget (and probably have forgotten). Having at our disposal certain important information as we do today--namely, that the Allies would eventually win the war--Darlan's actions seem to us not only treacherous but tragically foolish. As Churchill points out, however, it seemed to many men at the time that it was better to help administer Vichy than it was to fight in exile for the uncertain future of democracy.

In our present crisis, the future is again uncertain and our political men and leading commentators are making their calculations. The most powerful tool at their disposal is a refusal to look at, and a desire not to hear or understand the evidence which so many Americans -- so many private, unimportant, workaday Americans -- are risking their livelihoods to attest. Only by rejecting the evidence as unworthy even to be examined can these people convince themselves that their abandonment of Trump and of the majority of Americans who elected him is basically OK: Better to help get rid of a man whom they always despised and who always made life difficult for them than to risk damaging a relationship with the new Kamala Harris Administration.

One never knows the future, but given who and what the GOP is, the very people who can at least temporarily avert us from catastrophe may very well be the instrument of our doom. Milton Friedman, PBUH, once said "I do not believe that the solution to our problem is simply to elect the right people. The important thing is to establish a political climate of opinion which will make it politically profitable for the wrong people to do the right thing." We have got until January 6th to figure out how to do that.

Four days until Christmas. Keep the faith and keep your powder dry.

No way to overestimate the soulless cowardice, two-faced betrayal and/or out-and-out perfidy of the establishment Republicans including every one of Trump's chiefs of staff.

Any advisers who insists on shaping policy or disqualifying executive actions based not on their national value or urgency but on worries of "what the media will say" should not be within a mile of the President.

Like every other damn thing in public discourse, the word "politician" has been corrupted.

What should be actual public servants, forsaking personal opportunities and sacrificing their time to hold office, has now fully become a caste of semi-elected aristocrats ruling their fiefdoms like latter day earls and barons. Not harsh enough. Nothing could be, short of summary execution. And that's really only appropriate.

Hmmm... autocorrect didn't want to give me "execution". Nor execute. Executive was all it was willing to offer.

All 3 of the old-enough-to-think-for-themselves members of my writing critique group have gone in on this stuff. Not so much our leader, he's a big-time Trumper and is skeptical of a lot of what we're being fed, but he has medical issues that *might* make the Lung Rot dangerous for him. The lady who recently moved from Ohio to Da Swamp is also in the higher-risk group, and says, "I don't mind wearing a mask."

The third, the 70-something Bernie Bro who is a Vietnam vet and has been a working guy all his life, and so ought to know better? He thinks the Lung Rot is the new Black Death, and is so around the bend with Trump Hate that he parrots the lies of the MSM and never checks even the most obvious details. (Instance: He states that Obama graduated Harvard Law, while Trump never finished college. Two seconds with DuckDuckGo brings you to DJT's bio, which states his college career including the Wharton School. But Bernie-Bro couldn't check that.)

I don't email with him any more.

145 116 117 I'm noticing as people grow older, they fall into two categories as far as the Coup Flu goes. One group is absolutely petrified, takes notes while watching CNN, maybe even listens to people like Fredo's brother or that wop garden gnome Fauci. The other group goes about their business, maybe smiling, knowing they had a good run and are strong enough to survive this bullshit. Like Captain Hate says, group A seems to be growing, probably influenced a lot by their moronic offspring.

148 Here's all you need to know about Democrats and the Chinese.

Chinese manufacturing is running at full tilt. They are running to regain American industries recovered by President Trump. Some of their companies have now moved into record territory.

American companies are still running under Chinese Flu Lockdown conditions. As Democrats continue to hurt our industries, the Chinese are using this as an opportunity to crush the American worker.

The same people who allowed the Chinese to take over our industries and militarize islands and atolls in the South China Sea, are now getting prominent spots with Biden.

BOHICA and f you to every person who voted for Biden or Democrats.

170 Milton Friedman, PBUH, once said "I do not believe that the solution to our problem is simply to elect the right people. The important thing is to establish a political climate of opinion which will make it politically profitable for the wrong people to do the right thing." We have got until January 6th to figure out how to do that.

____________

The international communists, with Beijing fully in control now, have made it far more politically (and more importantly, financially) profitable for the wrong people to do the wrong thing. We had in-your-face overt treason in the White House back during Clinton/Gore vis-a-vis China and not only were they not punished, they were subsequently rewarded for it.

I went to the Reagan Library when President Reagan (PBUH) was laid to rest there and remember writing to a mailing list of conservative friends that his passing seemed fitting at that time as it had indeed become "Evening in America."

On the surface, probably nothing. You can't question them without being banned at best or harassed and "occupied" in worse cases. So superficially, there will be no change.

But how many people are there like me? I now assume that everyone is lying about everything. Unless I personally know the person or the person has a long, rich history of thoughtfulness and honesty, I actively *distrust* them by default. I imagine I am not alone. But I have no way to know.

That is the other side of the coin with all the canceling and deplatforming and harassing. I feel all alone except for the Horde, but I know I'm not. It is just hard to convince myself of that. This is psychologically and logistically difficult. On the other side, though, *they* don't know either! They have created an intelligence vacuum. Nobody knows how many people are scoffing, disregarding and tuning out - or who those people are.

When I am out an about, I *do* read placards and signs because I compulsively read text - I actually can't not read it. But that's as far as it goes, and I drift over things without really processing them at this point.

That is what needs to happen for some. My dad was a bit scared and concerned when everything shut down. Then he got it. He was sick with the equivalent of the flu for four days and then weak as a kitten for a week. After that, he wised up and realized what shit this is. Maybe if more people got it, they would learn? We don't let ourselves or our children get sick these days.

Thanks, JJ, and Happy Birthday!

215 it would be more in accordance with our ideas to tell the people the truth, instead of populating the world with saboteurs and devils.

This describes most of the people in the US today. Every theory of race, social justice, and reform is based on the ideas that the reason we cannot have (whatever it is we are missing or want) nice things is that someone is standing the the doorway and blocking you from entering.

PDT did... PDT did NOT... My mom never... My dad always...

And religions of the world have zero problems with the ideas that some Saboteurs and Devils are the root of societies problems WHILE never addressing the ideas of the DEVIL and SIN in an induvial life is destroying their souls minute by minute.

I think being freaked out at the beginning, when there was no data and just speculation about China's crazy reaction to it, was justified. I was a bit freaked out myself and don't apologize for it. I think a bit of extra caution is also justified and changing some habits might be in order. Again, I did this myself - I am more contentious about hand-washing now than I used to be, and I added some immune support to my daily multivitamin. That seems reasonable to me.

But I don't get *still* being freaked out about it. By Easter, we had some good indications as to what this thing is and every day since then the lies and hyperbole have become increasingly apparent to anyone paying attention. Even if you just watch the MSM, you surely *must* notice the absence of piles of corpses and mass graves and crematoria running 24/7. I just don't get still being freaked out about this.

255 this COVID thing is certainly not a hoax in and of itself.

It is a real virus. You can catch it. You can die from it if it isn't treated properly, you have other weaknesses, or if you're just plain unlucky.

The problem is that there are dozens of other illnesses exactly like that out there that we *don't* freak out over, simply because we are used to them.

If "A lot of people catch it, and some die" is the new standard for "Pandemic".... then there will never ever again NOT be some pandemic or another on any given day.

The standard things that Mama taught you: Don't pick your nose. Don't touch that. Wash your hands. Don't breathe on people. Give people their personal space.

These are the same things that get (got?) us through all the other illnesses out there for 100,000 years as a species.

These are the same things that the "medical community" were advising almost a year ago when this Chinese Lung Rot first hit the news.

It's not an accident, and it's not a mistake - frightened, isolated, distrustful people are very easy for a dictatorship/oligarchy to control. 264 The analogy to Vichy France is totally unfair. The French had fought valiantly and mercilessly during World War I and it was their courage led to victory. The war exhausted the French and when Hitler rose to power a generation later, the country was too spent to meet the challenge and surrendered.

The Republican Party has never fought let alone won a battle. The GOP has surrender down to a fine art, though, so that is the only part of the analogy that is correct.

I will be surprised if a single Republican senator votes to challenge the results. If so, the GOP has to be put down.

Far from it.

Shutting down the economy was the worst.

Wearing the mask could've been leveraged into business as usual and we wouldn't have the threat of a collapse economy, destroyed jobs and lives, etc.

Plus, once people started living normal lives except for the mask, the mask would be on its way out. Except for the old and infirm.

The shape of Corona is known now.

I think there's a lot of undiagnosed low level claustrophobia out there with people concentrating too heavily on the mask.

Concentrating on the mask was silly politics.

The 50% or more who were panicking needed a safe harbor.

And look where we are, destroyed economy, Biden as presumptive Preezy, and the mask is still required.

Good job everyone.

Yes, some of these areas were the hardest hit, but even many strong conservatives up here that I know are still viscerally scared of it. The facts don't matter -- people aren't dying in the street, hospitals aren't overwhelmed, etc.
The school system has been sending out reports of how many students / staff members have been determined to be a positive case. I personally find it darkly humorous that the vast majority of positive cases in kids come from those who are "fully virtual" while those who are attending school physically have little to no positive cases. That doesn't change the mind-set of the Karens though, many of whom will run to the barricades to fight against someone else breaking the COVID "rules," while themselves disregarding them as they see fit.

You could argue that Trump enabled it in two ways:
1) A national state of emergency, which gives governors more authorities, too.
2) Bailouts.

Of those, the second is the worse of the two. I understand it to a point, at least the first one. But continued bailing out of the economy - at huge cost, massive forward risk and tremendous economic dislocation especially in the capital markets - is what enables this continue.

On the other side of the coin, though, refusing to assist anyone would likely be politically untenable even though it would force reversal much more quickly.

Oh well. We got our taste of UBI. We're going to get more of it.

and this goes for EVERYONE!!

JJ, my parents are in their 80's a freaked about covid, but not in the typical way. They have seen how seniors have been treated throughout this, and the latest bit about seniors being old white people who shouldn;t get the vaccine, so their fer/grim realization is this: they get covid and it is a death sentence. They will not get good care as it's clear their demographic has been written off, heck even used to spike the numbers for political purposes. They also fear any significant health issue (fal on ice and broken bone) for the same reason: they don;t trust the care in the current cultural hate whitey/hate seniors climate.

Mom's recent gallows humor was to say, "we've finally knocked your white son off the top of the list as the most hated demographic."

I am continually amazed by people who are either frauds, ignorant, cowards or incredibly blinded by fear or hate saying we should give up on Georgia. No, we shouldn't. We should use it to change the flow of battle and finally get back on offense.

It's simple. This was not all an elaborate scheme by China, they simply acted opportunistically after they screwed up. As for Kemp's China connections, it's probably more like compromised by bribes than it is full ownership, much like many other politicians. Clinton took bribes from China back in the day and has taken bribes from Russia more recently. I agree completely. A devout Christian lives in joy, not fear, no matter what happens. The Apostle Paul never lived in Fear of the Roman authorities, even though he well knew they were after him, and eventually executed him. He knew the threat was real, he did not try to court it, but he never lived in Fear of it. He lived his life boldly, knowing that his end would come when God had decreed it.

Some stores still have "the guy" there, dickin' around with the carts and shuffling them around, but not really wiping them down or cleaning them.

Which means you've turned your semi-random point of contact of the cart handles from one customer to the next into a single funnel of universal contact, where all incoming and outgoing customers get exposed to everyone else. One-to-one becomes one-to-many, basically.

363 this COVID thing is certainly not a hoax in and of itself.

And if you want a view from a man who wasn't a Christian, take Marcus Aurelius: "Socrates used to say that death is like some prankster in a scary mask, dressed as a bogeyman to frighten small children. The wise man carefully removes the mask and, looking behind it, he finds nothing worth fearing."

366 The following are the lyrics for the REAL reason I never bought an AR-10 or AR-15 (my chemo made me cranky and I have a closet full of Hawaiian shirts):

<blockquote>And it's down Along the Falls Road, that's where I long to be,
Lying in the dark with a Provo company,
A comrade on my left and another on my right
And a clip of ammunition for my little Armalite.

I was stopped by a soldier, said he, You are a swine,
He hit me with his rifle and he kicked me in the groin,
I begged and I pleaded, sure me manners were polite
But all the time I'm thinking of me little Armalite.

And it's down in The Bogside that's where I long to be,
Lying in the dark with a Provo company,
A comrade on my left and another on my right
And a clip of ammunition for my little Armalite.

Sure a brave RUC man came marching up into our street
Six hundred British soldiers he had lined up at his feet
"Come out, ye cowardly Fenians", said he, "come out and fight".
But he cried, "I'm only joking", when he heard the Armalite.

Sure it's down in Kilwilkie, that's where I long to be,
Lying in the dark with a Provo company,
A comrade on my left and another on my right
And a clip of ammunition for my little Armalite.

Sure, the army came to visit me, 'twas in the early hours,
With Saladins and Saracens and Ferret armoured cars
They thought they had me cornered, but I gave them all a fright
With the armour piercing bullets of my little Armalite.

And it's down in the New Lodge that's where I long to be,
Lying in the dark with a Provo company,

When Tuzo came to Belfast, he said, The battle's won,
Said General Ford, We're winning sir, we have them on the run.
But corporals and privates on patrol at night,
Said, Send for reinforcements, it's the bloody Armalite.

And it's down in Crossmaglen, that's where I long to be,

You guys are arguing two different things. Rational vs natural. Death is inevitable, fear of it is in some sense not rational. It is a natural biological function to discourage stupid behavior, although low testosterone in old age tends to make people more fearful, not less fearful of desth, even though this is irrational.

Random chance explains a lot of it, and predicts it so well that insurance companies can make a bundle by estimating how many people are likely to (e.g.) have car accidents in a given year.

"God's will", by contrast, explains nothing, predicts nothing, and provides no reasonable mechanism for reducing the risk.

I believe that our lives are given to us, and is up to us to steward those lives in a responsible manner. Sometimes, yes, it becomes necessary for one to lay down his life for what is right (and we may well be approaching such a time). That doesn't mean that it's okay to risk that life foolishly, trusting in "God's will". Quite the contrary. It is a sin.

415 The legal definition of a conspiracy is "when 2 or more people agree to violate a law". Under that definition there are plenty of real conspiracies in the world. For example; 911 was an actual conspiracy. Mafia crimes are conspiracies. All of the people who went to Pedo Island were involved in a conspiracy. The Hunter Biden laptop evidence makes it clear that their family activity is a conspiracy, since there are a number of people who agreed to violate numerous US bribery laws. When Democrats agree to oppress our Constitutional rights, that is a conspiracy which violates federal law.

It is not a conspiracy theory to state any of the above, nor am I guilty of conspiratorial thinking when I point out any of those obvious real conspiracies. The left wing, collegiate warnings, about conspiratorial thinking are designed to keep you from noticing real conspiracies that are all around you.
