Good Morning Morons. Today is Saturday Dec 19th. On this day in history Vice President of the United States John C. Calhoun penned the South Carolina Exposition and Protest, protesting the Tariff of 1828. This was called the Tariff of Abominations in the South because it placed high tarriffs on incoming goods from Europe to help Northern manufactoring but raised the prices on goods in the South and made it harder for the South to export agricultural poducts to Europe. And to rub salt in the wounds the income from these tariffs was being spent on capital projects in the North. These un-holy tariffs came close to the South leaving the union 50 years earlier than they did and continued to be an isssue right up until the Civil War.

Republicans ties the last $1T coronacrap extravaganza to the budget limit for spending thus blocking the bill (which we don't need). This coronacrap spending is just giving the communists an excuse to push their unlimited socialist spending they have wanted since FDR.

Wow: The New York Times has a massive egg on its face as a prize-winning audio series has collapsed under a weight of falsehoods. . . Times executive editor Dean Baquet confessed to NPR media reporter David Folkenflik that the appeal of getting a "terrorist" to talk was too tempting: "We fell in love with the fact that we had gotten a member of ISIS who would describe his life in the caliphate and would describe his crimes," Baquet said. "I think we were so in love with it that when we saw evidence that maybe he was a fabulist, when we saw evidence that he was making some of it up, we didn't listen hard enough." Interesting word choice. Think I see the problem. . . Posted by: Lizzy at December 19, 2020 06:11 AM (bDqIh) Posted by: Rosasharn at December 19, 2020 06:13 AM (PzBTm) 28

The Supreme Court ruling is AGAINST Trump. They should have ruled for him; anything else is unjust and disenfranchises huge numbers of states, as did the recent non-ruling ruling on Texas et.al, But Roberts is playing politics and preferring to try to trick the base. The idea is to not rule, so it doesn't become a case (just as refusing to even hear Texas prevented any evidence from making the official record).

TheJamesMadison, I know you do that too. I just don't get to join in on your movie threads on Saturday nights very often. Oh, and the discussion of shaving yesterday was really cool. I planed off my 48-hour beard this morning with a German-made "slant" safety razor, a Russian blade, a German soap, and an American aftershave. None of it from P & G. Full serenity prayer
This always get truncated when people quote it because the first part up to "know the difference" is used by 12 step programs-which depends on a "higher power" not necessarily God or Jesus, but the whole thing is great for people of religious faith: God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change; Courage to change the things I can; and wisdom to know the difference. Living one day at a time; Enjoying one moment at a time; Accepting hardships as the pathway to peace; Taking as He did, this sinful world As it is, not as I would have it; Trusting that He will make all things right If I surrender to His Will; So that I may be reasonably happy in this life and supremely happy with Him forever in the next. Leave for a bit, come back and read. Leave for a bit, come back and read. Okay, first off, these vaccines are NOT the mark of the beast. They are at most a possible precursor. To receive the mark you will have to worship the beast and it will not happen until the second half of the 70th week of Daniel. That 2nd half will be kicked off when the anti-christ steps into the Holy of Holies in a rebuilt temple, where animal sacrifices have resumed, and declares himself God and demands worship. Secondly, after having been incredibly blessed to be born into this country and after everything PDJT has done for us when he could have just lived out his life wherever and however he wanted, that so many here are so ready to just roll over and play dead is, in PDJT terms, sad. Sunshine Patriots indeed. Posted by: TeeJ - WWG1WGA at December 19, 2020 08:10 AM (ZCD4H) 239

I'm not really worried all that much about "our grandchildren" any more.
Almost all of them want communism. Let them get it good and hard. It is well that you are so acquainted with what other people's grandchildren want. How wise you must be to be able to see into the minds and hearts of people not born yet. You're just farting on the porch here, right? Three quarters of the class will be Caucasian; one quarter of the class will be African American; one seat will hold a Latino; and the remaining seats will be filled with students of Asian descent or non-resident aliens.
Other than the maths being an indicator of an unintelligent mind, look at the arbitrary distinctions made in the demographics. One could, in theory, if using a Venn diagram make this New Maths work out. For example: "Caucasian". I seriously do not believe that three quarters of the population are from Iran or the Caucasus region of Western Asia. If she is using it in the discontinued technical form, then it also includes all of Western Asia, Europe, parts of North Africa and India. Then she uses "African-American" which is a non-technical, political word (official documents use the term "Black") that is utter nonsense and simply is a very stupid way of saying "dark skin, but not Australian Aboriginal, Indian or mixed Latin" because very few in her classification is native of Africa. "Asian descent". Would that include Middle Easterners? Russians? India? Pakistani? people literally from the Caucasus Region? In other words, her selection of demographic distinctives are in no way consistent with itself let alone used by any competent demographer. How on earth could she source or document that statement? Pure conjecture. Posted by: President Elect 🐧 at December 19, 2020 08:39 AM (C+evo) 305

Good mornin' y'all!!!!!! Rainy and warm here in East Texas.
My boss tested positive for the plague. He reported it to the safety guy and our crew is banned from working until January 1. Job site is Sheppard Air Force Base. I'll lose at least one weeks pay. On a good note, my job interview yesterday went pretty good. Over an hour with 3 of the 4 owners. I received a text half hour after I left requesting a follow up on Wednesday. After the interview I had lunch with my former coworker who served in the army for over twenty years. True friend and brother. Always supportive and positive attitude. That is something that I miss on a daily basis. Today I'll start a new book. "Monsters of River and Rock" by Adrian Smith. Maybe mess with garage band a bit. Sorry for the novel of a post. I don't have many friends anymore. At least not many I really trust. I hang out here and you all have no idea how much I enjoy the articles and especially the comment section. Thank you. Carry on. What is it in this damn climate with the insects? Yesterday I spotted (and I hope I killed) a small roach crawling across my windshield. The inside, mind you. Just now a large ant, you know, the kind that look like they should be invading Charlton Heston's plantation in The Naked Jungle, just strolled across my laptop keyboard. I hope I got him too.
Of course, I live in a swamp of a city. That could explain it. Posted by: Wolfus Aurelius at December 19, 2020 08:59 AM (rpbg1) 355

The guys at Harvard Lampoon who did Bored later founded National Lampoon and did Doon, so there is a tie-in.
Posted by: Sharkman at December 19, 2020 * * The Doon paperback has "National Lampoon" emblazoned on it. And the writing styles of Bored and Doon are very, and wonderfully, similar. Posted by: Wolfus Aurelius at December 19, 2020 09:00 AM (rpbg1) 357

krak's post today is somewhat poetic:
Hard to believe it's almost Christmas. I should probably buy some gifts. The first line could be sung to the tune of: "High on a hill was a lonely goatherd." Posted by: m at December 19, 2020 09:01 AM (o4czV) 360

Trying to find toilet paper in Leningrad in December. A single liter of spoiled milk in an empty warm refrigerator case. Empty shelves. But plenty of cabbage and potatoes. Posted by: San Franpsycho at December 19, 2020 08:55 AM (EZebt) __________ At least you weren't overwhelmed with choices, Comrade! of the USSR and its deprivations. When the toilet paper shortages hit, I swear I had panic attacks walking into the grocery stores and seeing empty shelves Posted by: Jmel at December 19, 2020 08:48 AM (bVhJi) Yes and that's what the left is forcing upon this country now. 307 > Or maybe, they put those products in the mixture because they worked.
Clearly they "worked". Give a fussy baby a mixture of alcohol, opium, and chloroform and it will shut right up and go to sleep. That doesn't make it a good idea, yo. Good morning Horde!
I got Fatman last night, but there was a problem with Amazon. It kept crashing. I tried to restart, hoping that would help, but the load screen still flashed a message in German and it kept crashing. Never saw that before. Never had issues with Amazon streaming. Maybe we can watch it today. What else. Oh. Costco trip today! I like staring at pallets of Ramen and Spam in my apocalypse garb. I am thinking about making a 150 mg edible and eating that before we head out to make it possible to really immerse myself in a prequel to the Last of Us vibe. I am now number 18 on the wait list at the library for the latest Jack Reacher novel. I am number 22 for the new Preston and Child novel. Win by Harlan Coben comes out soon. March, maybe? I am number 1248 for that one. I will probably splurge for my own hardback copy. What are they these days, thirty bucks or so? Our first Christmas break jigsaw puzzle is spread out and awaiting assembly. I have all of this going for me and more, which is nice. Now to read the comments. Have a great day everyone. Posted by: CN at December 19, 2020 07:07 AM (ONvIw) The ones we would want as refugees have already been shipped to camps in mainland China.
