The Morning Rant

talking ape.jpg
I think there are different kinds of TDS. Or perhaps it's just degree. Some like, Rick Wilson and Bill Kristol, seem to have totally succumbed to madness, as if Donald Trump is shooting rays from his eyes directly into their heads, and it is melting their brains. Not pretty. But then there are those like Rod Dreher, who, like many cancer or dementia patients, have good days and bad days. I generally don't like Dreher, but sometimes he can get it together enough to write something good, so I'll give him props for that. But he was not having a good day here:

<><>

dreher 20201214 01.jpg

Apparently, Rod was watching the Washington DC Trump rally, and the somewhat dormant TDS woke up and engulfed his brain. The thread and the responses have crossed the border from 'batsh1t insane' to 'clinically delusional'. It's like a late night dorm room bull session where everybody is passing the bong around and the comments just get more and more hallucinatory:

1st stoned guy: Trump is a dictator! ( *toke toke* )( *passes bong* )

2nd stoned guy: Trump is a fascist! ( *toke toke* )( *passes bong* )

3rd stoned guy: Trump is a fascist dictator! ( *toke toke* )( *passes bong* )

1st stoned guy: (stoned laughter) Yeah man, I was watching a Fellini movie once, and ( *toke toke* ) it was just, you know, like, well, you know... (stoned laughter) (nods off)

2nd stoned guy: Hey, pass the bong, man.

1st stoned guy: (wakes up) What? Oh, yeah... ( *passes bong* ) (stoned laughter)

2nd stoned guy: ( *toke toke* )

(several minutes of silence)

3rd stoned guy: Uh... so what were we talking about again?

(more silence)

2nd stoned guy: Trump is a fascist dictator...

1st stoned guy: Who? Oh yeah, the guy from that Fellini movie.

3rd stoned guy: Trump was in a Fellini movie? Oh, wow...

1st stoned guy: Hey, I know what.

2nd and 3rd stoned guys: What?

1st stoned guy: Let's do some 'shrooms!

All: (stoned laughter)

I've never understood the 'Trump is a fascist dictator' schtick. What has he ever done? Name one thing that he has done that is dictatorial. Issued a few EOs? That's pretty much par for the course for every president these days. Put kids in cages? That was a program started by Obama. I can tell you some things he hasn't done. Like this summer, when blue cities were burning, he could've signed some sort of emergency decree, then used that authority to send in military units to quiet things down. But he waited for the state governors to act, as it is their primary responsibility. He waited until he was asked to send National Guard units.

That's not dictatorial. That's pure federalism. In fact, I would say that Donald Trump is probably the one president most respectful for federalism and aware of the boundaries between federal, state, and local government in modern times. But Dreher sees him transported in a helicopter above one of his rallies and he soils his pants. And what that proves mostly is that we need a better class of political commentators.

Friday Who Dis: I always have trouble picking out modern-day actresses because I'm familiar with hardly any of them. But I did see Anya Taylor-Joy in the Netflix series The Queen's Gambit and found I could pair her with Paul Sparks (known chiefly, I think, for his work in Boardwalk Empire because they were both in a 2017 movie I had never heard of, Thoroughbreds.

Having been forced to endure gluten-free for over a decade, I can tell you - no. That's the worst part of no gluten. No chewy-factor. Just crumbly. I thought that keto meant no carbs, or very few so not sure how that'd work unless they come up with a meat or cauliflower bagel.

Bought and toasted an "everything" bagel from Whole Foods this Sat. With smoked mozzarella (also from WF), sliced ham, and mustard. Good stuff.

Also tried sprinkling pepper and/or chili seasoning on my bacon before baking it in the oven. Seems 25 min. at 400 F. is too much; 22 is better. I'll try 20 next.

48 People like Dreher keep saying that Trump is somehow destroying our institutions, which is bunk. It's like saying that a woman whose husband beats her regularly, drinks and gambles their savings away, cheats with numerous women, and gaslights her, is somehow destroying her marriage when she finally gets the courage to leave him. It's utter bullshit. The reality is that they know the institutions are rotted from the inside, but they don't have the courage to face what comes after those institutions are gone. They don't know how to, because their entire lives have been spent gaming the system.

Nah. A bagel is a bagel IF it is plain, poppy, sesame, onion or pumpernickel. Cinnamon raisin is borderline. Everything else is heresy.

But for me, the bialy is preferable. Also, NY bagels, like pizza, are superior because of the water used to make the dough.

They see a Trump rally with (mostly) white people cheering and stomping their feet and it reminds them of Hitler at Nuremberg.
But I've seen the same thing at a Bruce Springsteen concert--or any concert.

Are they all Hitler too?
Posted by: Grim Reaper at December 14, 2020 11:22 AM (HrMC1)

Humans are wired for the religious experience. Religion isn't simply a belief in God, it's a whole complicated mess of beliefs, rituals, and social arrangements that underpin our lives. The left's religion became progressivism a long time ago. Everything else is just flavor variations of it: progressive Christianity, feminism, racial progressivism, etc. Progressivism provided the basic structure that was tailored to each believer. This is important because it gave the left a sense of unity which the right lacked.

Trump is the first candidate who really seems to have built a similar movement on the right, through MAGAism. MAGA isn't simply a few political ideas, it's an identity movement that supports everything else. Or, to put it another way, people aren't simply MAGA because they agree with his policies, they agree with his policies because they've accepted MAGA.

157 The news is so depressing. With all the Republicans demanding Trump concede. The "conservative" sites talking about how the coming Biden administration will be affecting us. Etc. So ok there is no hope, where do we go from here.
Posted by: AnnaS at December 14, 2020 11:32 AM (l4l/z)

It's going to be ugly, but all hope is not lost. The establishment burned through a lot of political and social capital to take down Trump, and that's going to hurt them. I expect that the Biden admin will be so rife with corruption and infighting that it will undermine their ability to push a hard-left agenda. Meanwhile, the world will go to hell and the establishment with their credentialism fetish and their inability to adopt their thinking to the new world will step on their dicks trying to make things go back to the way that they were.

Trump may be out of office, but I doubt that he's out of politics. The threat of him running again will hurt the ability of the establishment to regain power, and his support from the base will mean that he can influence the party over the next four years, hopefully building a better foundation for a run in 2024, if not by him then by a successor.

181 I have some passing familiarity with clinical depression, and by passing I mean I live with it every minute of every day.

Coping mechanisms I use include distraction (I use video games and binge watching old TV shows), cognitive behavior techniques (mainly identifying things that lead to major depressive episodes and intentionally modifying my response), working on more positive things such as self-care (I count cigars in that list), and in general just trying to be aware of my emotional state and actively countering it.

Medication has also been helpful but it hasn't been a cure. If anything it helps me slow down and take action before I spiral into a suicidal state.

What's also helped me is the realization that those in power WANT me to be in this state, and I'm damned if I will acquiesce.

Surely, you jest!!

This is the FIRST RULE of Obama's Democratic Party! If you want to know what they're up to, just ask what insane thing they're accusing Republicans of.

How can anyone STILL be unaware of this, after they accuse Trump of colluding with enemies, who hacked the election, and now the Dems and the CCP have hacked our election?

The SECOND RULE, BTW, is that if you want to know the truth about something, see what Obama says about it. The truth is beyond the exact opposite. Remember "if we drilled every two inches, we STILL wouldn't be energy independent"? Or, "it's impossible to hack an election" (back before 2016, of course)?

If so, nope, I made up those five on a "one-off" basis. But, you're free to copy the design if you wish, and I can provide some specs & dimensions, if needed.

With this one caveat. The actual hinges were nautical, stainless pieces provided as "used-surplus" by a U.S. Coast Guard shipfitter. Neither you nor I will be finding their like or their equal at anything near an "economical" basis.

My help cometh from the Lord, which made heaven and earth.

He will not suffer thy foot to be moved, He that keepeth thee will not slumber.

Behold, He that keepeth Israel shall never sleep nor slumber.

The Lord is thy keeper: The Lord is thy shade upon thy right hand.

268 It's going to be ugly, but all hope is not lost. The establishment
burned through a lot of political and social capital to take down Trump,
and that's going to hurt them. I expect that the Biden admin will be so
rife with corruption and infighting that it will undermine their
ability to push a hard-left agenda. Meanwhile, the world will go to hell
and the establishment with their credentialism fetish and their
inability to adopt their thinking to the new world will step on their
dicks trying to make things go back to the way that they were.

Trump may be out of office, but I doubt that he's out of politics.
The threat of him running again will hurt the ability of the
establishment to regain power, and his support from the base will mean
that he can influence the party over the next four years, hopefully
building a better foundation for a run in 2024, if not by him then by a
successor.

271 I don't blame people one bit for being deeply suspicious of Dominion. You do know 99% of this is because Dominion did screw up on Election Night and accidentally gave a precinct to Biden that Trump won comfortably. (or they are saying a clerk didn't update the software properly)

You would have to be an idiot not to want to dig deeper and see if more "accidents" happened.

And there's multi million dollar projects Dominion did with the Clinton Foundation, You think if Dominion did multi million dollar projects with Trump's foundations and "accidentally gave precincts to Trump the media wouldn't be all over that?

That all being said, do I think this got into the fever swamps with Sidney Powell? Yes, I do, and I have no idea why such a reputable lawyer made so many wild promises and allegations about the evidence she had.

That being said, I do know Biden and the Dems committed massive fraud in this election and anyone who says otherwise is playing for the other team.

They won't give a shit unless it really hurts, and they're going to be fighting dirty, and brutally, right out of the gate. What we "have already" in most places is the situation where, if you exercise your natural rights to bear arms or defend yourselves, the Dems and their lackeys will kill the fuck out of you, then rubber stamp it after investigating themselves.

The only reason we have put up with this shit is because on the whole the alternative seemed worse. Well, now we're in "wax those balls/close that business/no gatherings allowed unless it's our goons looting you" clownworld and that no longer applies.

If they're going to cheat and pretend everyone can't see it, we can depopulate red counties of leftists and pretend we don't see that.

379 THE REPORT:

After the forensic examination of 16 Dominion Voting machines in Antrim, Co. MI, Allied Security Operations Group has concluded that the Dominion Voting machines were assigned a 68.05% error rate. DePerno explained that when ballots are put through the machine, a whopping 68.05% error rate means that 68.05% of the ballots are sent for bulk adjudication, which means they collect the ballots in a folder. "The ballots are sent somewhere where people in another location can change the vote," DePerno explained.

Based on the Allied Security Operations report, Constitutional Attorney Matthew DePerno states: "we conclude that The Dominion Voting System should not be used in Michigan. We further conclude that the results of Antrim County should not have been certified."

TBF we don't define "problem" the same way as the Trumps do.

To us "problem" is something that my effect us directly and our offices. That's pretty much the only problems we compute. We've come a long way in negotiating safe zones with our friendsh on the other side.

It
looks like they ruled that one of the reasons absentee ballots were
issued wasn't valid after all. There's no remedy though, they just say
that each ballot must be judged on a case by case basis. They won't be
throwing out all mail votes.

It goes beyond that - the reason they pulled the indefinite confinement BS was to ditch verification requirements.

It's not just failing to meet the criteria - it's that many, many thousands of these people didn't vote in the first place. It was a ballot stuffing mechanism, and now not only may the votes be tossed, that avenue of fraud may be exposed.

You have to factor this in, the investigators have sworn to investigate and clear up at least 5 ballots every day until this is resolved. They expect to have a clear, definitive, final answer in 117.8 years.

Standing is a pure bullshit "principle" that Judges can call on, or ignore, whenever they want to kill a case they don't like for other reasons, or advance a case that is completely unjustified. It's another spot where the corruption in the system is right out in the open, for all to see.

492 Trump lost this election, Biden did not win it. Trump could have easily got another 1% of the vote and past the margin of fraud had he kept his cool. But he never could do that.
Posted by: Blago at December 14, 2020 12:06 PM (gkdnV)

I agree, that despite the massive fraud, Trump blew this election. He obviously saw the fraud coming a mile away as everyone here did. He also knew from his internal polling that he was up big in all the key states.

What he failed to realize is that the fraud would come in a two-prong attack this time, not only through late-night ballot box stuffing, but inherently through the counting machines. While he may have thought he was safe from the ballot box stuffing, he didn't count on the software keeping Biden within striking distance before the ballot dumps. He thought all the states would go like Florida, where his lead was too big for early morning ballot dumps to make a difference.

He should have had more and better people monitoring and documenting the ballot dumps and most importantly who had the guts to stand up and not meekly comply when told to evacuate for an overflowing toilet in the building.

the article points to a huge win for Trump even though it was not his

Posted by: redbanzai the Southerner at December 14, 2020 12:12 PM (946rW)

The opinion reads like a huge win for both the Republican party of WI and Trump, too. It seems likely that the 4 fold increase in mail-in ballot requests on account of indefinite confinement was caused by people claiming that status on account of COVID. This is likely true even though election officials were enjoined from telling people they could do that.

Those ballots are no subject to being tossed because they are invalid.

495 Accordingly, we conclude that the Respondents' interpretation of Wisconsin's election laws is erroneous. Additionally, we conclude that Emergency Order #12 did not render all Wisconsin electors "indefinitely confined," thereby obviating the requirement of a valid photo identification to obtain an absentee ballot.

- -

Sounds to me like the Court agreed that photo ID is required to get an absentee ballot, counter to what Milwaukee was saying to those who were staying at home because of Kung Flu and the government's orders to stay home.

Therefore, those voters should have had to provide a photo ID for their absentee ballots.

It does NOT say that (that I could see) that those ballots will be thrown out, but I'm thinking that will be a future action.

reliance on some lucky throw of the dice to counter it. In 2020 his
luck ran out.

You should be reading PDT's emergency EO from back in '018. We should be hearing more about that in the coming days as all the reports from the various agencies come due on the 18th. PDT has been on top of voting fraud for a couple of years and had a pretty good eyed-deer that the Demoprogs were going to try to rig this election. Which they did, but panicked when it was a blowout for him.

I found the opinion. While on its face, this is a loss for Trump on the issue of indefinitely confined voters as he was denied the relief he prayed for. His lawyers had asked that all ballots issued after March 25, 2020 be tossed because of illegal guidance given by two counties (that they had to take down when the WI SC issued an injunction back in March).

HOWEVER, read with their other opinion today, it is likely that mail-in ballots where people avoided photo ID requirements by claiming to be indefinitely confined are void to the extent that people claimed indefinite confinement because of COVID restrictions. Given that there was a 4 fold increase in such claims this year, that is likely A LOT of ballots. After all, the state cannot very well claim they never told voters that they could cheat the system and that advice, once given, is still out there even after it is officially scrubbed. They cannot unring that bell.

I just looked at the computer report. A ludicrously high percentage (almost 70%) of the votes were "adjudicated," meaning that were marked as errors and were then able to be manually changed on the computer. Conveniently, all the adjudication logs for the 2020 election are now missing.

Yeah, nothing suspicious there at all. The prior years' adjudication logs are intact, but this year's logs are missing.

Also, almost all the server security logs for election day are also missing. You can't do an effective audit without these logs (or without the adjudication logs). The security logs show the times when users logged on and off, network connections, internet connections, data transfers, etc. And they're missing.

But yeah, keep pissing on us and telling us that it's raining, Michigan SOS.

There was massive fraud here. Blatant and obvious fraud. And then there was deliberate destruction of the evidence to cover up that massive fraud.
