Posted by: runner at December 04, 2020 07:58 PM (zr5Kq) 37
I've told this story before, and not tooting my own horn, but our female cat, we got her from the shelter in which she was born. Had been there for six years. Had never been outside the building, never seen the outside world, as the shelter was a huge warehouse, with no access to windows except sunlight coming in from way too high for any type of view for the cats.
Anyhoo, we had our pick. A number of other cats that were much more affectionate. This kitty, she wouldn't even let me pick her up (still won't). But it was kind of a no-brainer decision. The other more affectionate cats will have been adopted within days, if not hours of us leaving. So... fast forward about 4 years, she's a sweetheart. Mostly keeps to herself, but when she want attention, she will get it, because she's relentless. Posted by: BurtTC at December 04, 2020 07:58 PM (hku12) 38

And then there's other rules for smaller spaces - but that could be a county by county clusterfuck. Guy at my gun shop said they were only allowed to have one person at a time. This will be the death of many more businesses. Yes Gavin Gruesome, let's shut down the stores at Christmas time, because there might have been a chance some could have survived into next year otherwise. The Sizzler in town folded, that's the first "big" restaurant that bit it. Because of the way it was situated, they couldn't put tables outside, and it was mostly patronized by the senior citizens. Dead and gone. Hard to tell with some of the smaller places, at least grub hub and uber eats is helping them limp along. Ever since Jared Polis tested positive for the coof-coof, local talk-radio guy Peter Boyles has been asking all over the place why nobody in the local media has been asking him how he might've gotten it.
He doesn't seem to have considered the most likely answer to that question. Polis is gay. And it's politically incorrect to ask a gay man if he's maybe been, you know, engaging in some risky behaviors. Doing well. Moved Eldest Kidlet up to Colorado over Thanksgiving. She and Son are staying with their Grandmother and helping her take care of her house and get it ready to sell. Also working at a local Good Samaritan, which means they have to get their brains scraped twice a week (at least working with the elderly is an almost reasonable excuse for all the testing). They're not moving, but that's because if you get too close to check for a pulse, they suck out your soul. Hence, the phrase "playing possum" is really not about faking one's death, it originated with pickpockets from back in the day. To all you naysayers (or "pants-shitters", as the less empathic among
us would call you), saying nay because *some judge won't hear the case despite a metric FUK-TONNE of evidence!!!!* ["ahh we're gonna die"], What do you want? Do you want a trial court level (district court in federal; in California we call the state versions "superior court, county of ") - a trial court-level judge to wade through a metric FUK-TONNE of evidence, with the assistance of a couple research attorneys and staff, AFTER the other side has had a chance to respond.... Or do you want this passed up the chain as fast as f*cking possible -- that means to SCOTUS -- with the hope that it says: 1) if these claims are proven true, the remedy is Donald Trump is arresting a lot of people in a couple of months; and 2) given the time since the complaint was originally served, by X date, we will deem each properly-pled allegation of fact, for which substantial evidence in the record exists, as true and conceded unless defendant provides specific, evidentiary proof of each fact that it considers worth spending resources to dispute, if any. In the meantime, SCOTUS proceeds with an opinion assuming most -- if not substantially all of the properly-pled claims -- will be established. Will that happen? I don't know. But why on Earth would you want someone so far down the totem pole mucking around in the evidentiary record? Posted by: SFGoth at December 04, 2020 08:42 PM (KAi1n) 234

Or do you want this passed up
the chain as fast as f*cking possible -- that means to SCOTUS -- with the hope that it says: 1) if these claims are proven true, the remedy is Donald Trump is arresting a lot of people in a couple of months; and 2) given the time since the complaint was originally served, by X date, we will deem each properly-pled allegation of fact, for which substantial evidence in the record exists, as true and conceded unless defendant provides specific, evidentiary proof of each fact that it considers worth spending resources to dispute, if any. In the meantime, SCOTUS proceeds with an opinion assuming most -- if not substantially all of the properly-pled claims -- will be established. Will that happen? I don't know. But why on Earth would you want someone so far down the totem pole mucking around in the evidentiary record? Posted by: SFGoth at December 04, 2020 08:42 PM (KAi1n) Thank you. It's extremely frustrating that all the steps of the process have to be allowed to fail for SCOTUS to act, but we really don't want to establish the precedent of having them swoop in immediately to "solve" this mess, because we've seen how quickly people can be to lower the threshold on the things that SCOTUS or whoever should immediately address without following the steps. The Friday before the election Robert Cahaly said on Hannity's show the Trump would have to win PA by at least 5% to beat the margin of cheating they would do. He even was saying the cheating would be that bad prior to the election. Posted by: TheQuietMan at December 04, 2020 08:34 PM (jXxav) Which we now know is nonsense, no amount of margin could overcome the Dominion vote fraud counting and vote changing software. The reason the CheaterCrats had to bring in so many hundreds of thousands of fake ballots was because Trump was winning so massively. All the CheaterCrats had to do was bring in the amount of ballots the Dominion software told them. One of the ballot counters has a signed affidavit that he and a Democrat poll watcher walked into a locked room and found 70,000 ballots filled out for Biden. Both sides agreed to that. Then the ballots were gone the next day. The vote was completely fixed, and there are stats and math experts that have proven this, beyond a ponderance of the evidence. How is Supreme Court going to undo this mess ?
--- They're either going to do nothing or go with whatever remedy Trump's lawyers ask for, which is probably going to be vacating the vote results in several of the states as hopelessly undefuckable (they'll spend 20 pages saying that in a technical way) and telling those legislatures to select electors or not. Hopefully Trump has someone whipping that vote because right now I think gope will go ahead and give the electors to Biden in most if not all cases, just to show us they're in charge. So I hope Trump's lawyers will also give Thomas an opportunity to tee off on mail in ballots, with a remedy being their total removal (PA is the obvious candidate here, but if the case is made that mail-ins specifically are undefuckable, maybe it can get applied to other states) and order certifications on the new totals, that gives Trump the states without giving gope a say. It's not terribly likely and depends on the court considering long and hard the horrors ahead if we become a Chinese colony. Posted by: Methos at December 04, 2020 09:04 PM (kOpft) 320
What McDonald's doesn't tell you is that nearly all of the special meals they have come up with - the Filet-O-Fish, the McMuffin, the apple pie, the Quarter Pounder - were invented by franchisees and were all hated by Ray Kroc. What did he keep trying to get McD's to serve. A "Hawaiian Burger," which was a fried slice of pineapple on a bun. Posted by: Mary Poppins' Practically Perfect Piercing at December 04, 2020 08:55 PM (2JVJo) This is true! Both the Filet-O-Fish and the Hawaiian "burger" were designed with Catholics in mind, because of that whole "not eating meat on Fridays" thing. The corporation put the two sandwiches head-to-head, to see which one sold better, and the Filet-O-Fish just ran away with it, so that's what they ended up going with. I'm not surprised to hear that Kroc was a little butthurt over it. But, hey, nobody has the best idea all the time. NV state judge rejects Trump elector lawsuit.
Shipwreckedcrew has an analysis that sticks with his theme that the election context process is inherently hopeless and dysfunctional, because the state always has the key evidence, not the plaintiffs, and it takes a lot of time for plaintiffs to ever get it, if they can do so at all. I didn't read the lawsuit. I did read many many accounts of specific serious problems with the NV process (Clark County, actually). Lack of adequate, or any, signature verification. Observers being prevented from observing (pretty gross and blatant example). Very large number of illegible out-of-state voters ID'd. A local journalist (an actual one) sent in 6 ballots that should have been rejected, 5 were accepted. I've hesitated to say what I've been fearing for a few weeks. We're going to get a likely stolen, and obviously very tainted election, AND the most absurd and disastrous election result at the presidential level in modern history*, AND it's going to be clear that the GOP, the courts, the state legislatures, are either quite content with Third World style irregularities, or even willing to fight viciously to *protect* same. * both Obama's elections are close runners-up, but exchanging these two vile non-entities for Trump is a unique calamity Posted by: rhomboid at December 04, 2020 09:12 PM (OTzUX) 361

Shipwreckedcrew has an analysis that sticks with his theme that the election context process is inherently hopeless and dysfunctional, because the state always has the key evidence, not the plaintiffs, and it takes a lot of time for plaintiffs to ever get it, if they can do so at all.
---> right. it's not ripe before the election. after the election, not enough time to collect evidence. the key for SCOTUS is to dismiss this idea that there has to be some sort of "rock solid" doubting Thomas level of evidence. Otherwise, the nation is fucked with sub-3rd world voting processes with millions of mail in ballots. Posted by: President Elect RedCheckmark at December 04, 2020 09:14 PM (hpcyB) 372

The THC in today's weed is concentrated in the bud, and many dozens of generations of weed has been selectively grown to improve the concentration of THC in the buds, and the buds grow bigger. 70's weed was usually the entire plant, save a few of the lower big leaves, and included seeds. Seed weed is much lower in THC, as the plant directs it to the seeds to reproduce. Today's weed is all from cuttings. And is incredibly concentrated in the bud with THC. In fact today's plants have mostly buds and few leaves, compared to 40 years ago, or outdoor weed. Posted by: LeftCoast Dawg at December 04, 2020 09:21 PM (sy5kK) 402

Apparently Obama judges in lower courts don't think a thousand sworn affidavits, insane spikes for Biden in the late night count, and other obvious fraud is possible.
Like that NV judge today. ---> right. there's a burden of proof, and it's not "signed confessions from the people who actually cheated, iron clad 100% proof" but something a little more realistic. as a matter of law, these judges are erring. Yes, the weed is stronger.
I used to cram a quarter ounce of pot into the bowl of a crudely fashioned hookah we made out of a 5 gallon office water bottle with some gas lines we drilled into it leftover from my Datsun 280Z. Oh we'd get baked for sure. We'd fill the thing up, pop the bowl off of it an somebody would blow back through the gas lines and give you a shout gun out of the top of the carboy. But it took extreme measures to get baked off of cheap Mexican dirt weed. Now, two puffs off of that lime green hybrid shit and you are unfit for anything. Posted by: President Elect LASue at December 04, 2020 09:17 PM (Ed8Zd) Exactly, they pulled out as many fake votes as the Dominion software told them they had to. then Lin Wood spoke up and told people not to vote for Loeffler and Perdue in the runoff, and then Loeffler and Perdue fell behind in the polls, and now the Repugs are scrambling to look like they're actually doing something while, er, the clock, uh... runs out... Nobody ever rescues bats. Anyone else notice that?
Posted by: qdpsteve at December 04, 2020 09:24 PM (L2ZTs) When we were kids, we'd play in organized little league, and if a bat was broken during league play, those bats couldn't be used anymore. However, when playing on the lot or playground in the neighborhood, we'd just tape up one of those bats and use it until it was basically shredded. So yeah, rescued bats. Try living near where it's grown. You drive down certain roads and it stinks, bad. The wineries are pissed. Long time farmers are losing their Avocado farms next to the pot grows because the spray companies won't spray their orchards because pot cannot have any pesticide residue and they are terrified of being sued. It's a big deal here. The Trump MAGA/America First Coalition must survive and grow no matter the outcome. We can't get Tea Partied, must move and be more, ah, aggressive in our moves going forward. And by aggressive I don't mean having Glenn Beck speak for us at a rally in DC. I'm thinking something more forceful...more....terrifying in nature. Posted by: Bitter Clinger at December 04, 2020 09:46 PM (XVNQq) Off hand, I'd be inclined to say that "moral" laws are good (essentially compatible with a civil society based on Judeo-Christian principles). He told a caller that he did not feel optimistic about Trump refuting the Steal. Posted by: vmom at December 04, 2020 09:37 PM (nUhF0) Well, it DOES rely on useless Republican turncoats failing to backstab their own party ... It speaks volumes to the corruption, as Trump exposes every day - that Republican legislatures hesitate to undo the most obvious, In Your Face fraud in history, even though it's against THEIR party, and they have popular support in their states to do it. Remember - all it takes is THREE such states!!! There's also the possibility of the courts throwing away enough fraudulent votes to do the trick. That OUGHT to be EASY, but it's NOT. Is it Rush being generally fatalistic, given his condition, or just being tired of a LONG history of "failure theater". It's up to the VOTERS to get in their faces, and make them aware that they are paying VERY CLOSE ATTENTION. Posted by: President-Elect Optimizer at December 04, 2020 09:53 PM (hOOi9) 516

Tear duct fail. I watch a lot of this sort of thing. Another channel is similar, Hope for Paws, an Israeli guy operating in Los Angeles rescuing abandoned dogs. The dogs are all scared. The guy has good techniques capturing them while sometimes seeming a bit brutal. He knows that within ten minutes he can get their little doggy psychologies off survival and into the lap of luxury and human adoration if they can just endure a few minutes of intense discomfort. Then, seeing the dogs integrated into foster homes then permanent homes, running with other dogs, seeking attention, playing, is splendid each time. I do shed a tear. I get all choked up. Seeing the dogs terrified then captured then transformed to ordinary dumb dogginess is the same pattern repeated and it gets me every time. When the dogs are occasionally returned to their owners the family and the dog react the same way that service families do when daddy comes home. It's awesome. There are ten years of such videos in his library.
