Sefton: sefton at cutjibnewsletter.com | David Perdue: Boy, I Can't Wait Until We Can Start Cutting Deals With President Biden!!!When Christine O'Donnell beat Mike Castle in the Delaware Senate primary, I stopped criticizing her and I stopped saying she would lose. I told cobloggers like Gabe to lay off. Before the primary, I felt it was my duty to tell people she would lose. But not after it. After the primary I felt peace. I'd done my duty. And there wasn't anything more I can do. I feel the same way now about the Senate Republicans. They've now chosen to lose the Senate. I can't persuade them to stop losing it. They're determined to lose. This has nothing to do with little old me. They're actively demoralizing the base and gleefully spiting the base with every word and every vote. I -- you, we -- have warned them again and again: This is how you commit political suicide. We try to tell them what we, as constituents, actually want. They ignore us, and get the "straight dope" about what the base wants from Noted Tribunes of the People such as The Bulwark, The Dispatch, and National Review, and various Koch-suckers at neoliberal AEI like Tim Carney. See, that's where you get accurate reports of what the vox populi is saying. Right? Right. We keep telling them: You can either win as populists, or lose as corporatists. But they keep deciding to see if they can squeak out a bare 1% win as corporatists. And they will keep doing so until 30 of them fail out of the Senate. You can't stop a suicidal person from committing suicide. At some point -- they will find the razor. They will find the pills. Once again, I will sit back in silence and let people enjoy their own choices.I can't stop the Party of Losers from losing. I'll more or less stop talking about the Senate in an electoral context. There is nothing the GOP can do about it now, and there is nothing I can do about it, and there is nothing you guys can do about it. And after they lose the Senate and deliver one-party control to the Democrats, they can write another post-election autopsy stating that what really did the GOP in was not giving amnesty to illegals and expanding immigration from one to three million per year. Again. The GOPe can't even fake it until after the runoff election. They can't sell us out fast enough. The Stupid Party's gonna stupid.

But no one* will get farther than that in professional politics if they are not in the good graces of whichever party they run on. The parties set up the system so that they get to decide who gets the media attention, who gets the endorsements, who gets the financial and logistical support of the state or national parties. Without that, no one will ever see or hear your name until they see the ballot on primary day. *there are a few exceptions, namely Trump. There may be some benefits to a "GOP controlled" Senate, depending on how they behave.
But make no mistake. You are trapped. As noted by me and many others forever, the worse the Dems get, the worse the GOP is allowed to get (and they do, and have). And you have no choice. The rational choice is to bleed out slower. And no executive orders about foreign interference are gonna change anything. And no "fourth box" is going to be opened, or make any difference whatsoever. And nothing approaching 2010 is going to happen to the GOP, and note that that enormous grass-roots rebellion resulted in precisely bupkis, anyway. None of the foregoing is really a forecast, just the exhaustion of patience with endlessly repeated baseless escape fantasies that have no basis in experience or common sense. The people's tribune versus the oligarchs is what this is shaping up to be.
Oligarchies are unstable though and end up cutting each others throats or being conquered/slaughtered by outside forces. They are also nasty, venal, corrupt, and dishonest. If you like read, the depressing politics of the Northern Italian city states during the late Middle Ages and early Renaissance in Machiavelli or John Adam's Defense of the Constitutions of the United States for a shorter version. Few will fight and die willingly for an oligarchy and end result is usually a strongman (internal sometimes or external) that crushes the oligarchs by either killing them or exile. The thing is, for a person to give their life in service for their country (or to police an area), being made a sucker and/or dupe is not particularly inspiring. The dream for GOPe Senators has always been a megacorporation friendly DEM President willing to join with them to enact the policies this country really needs ... massive increases in immigration, massive increases in corporate regulation (which mainly serve to entrench megacorp incumbents, a good couple of foreign interventions each year (makes a senator feel important to send kids off to die), and, best of all, free trade deals with third world countries (since it provides access to third world levels of graft, see e.g., Burisma). And since it's a Dem president, they can do all this all without the Rubes putting the blame on them. "We tried to stop him! Please send more money to the NRSC."

It's been said for years, the GOP is not a legitimate political party, properly understood.
I mean, the ink isn't even dry on the heist and they have already... - Rewrote immigration law to allow unlimited H1Bs - Are already working on a DACA "fix." - Are actively conspiring with Democrats against a GOP President. The only conceivable way forward is to start agitating for the creation of a new America First/MAGA party. And that's going to require letting the Donks get control of everything. Let them overreach. Their overreaching may create the spark that will light the fuse that will start the war. And war is what we need. Because the enemy is not going to stop unless the enemy is crushed. I simply do not see another way forward that doesn't involve destroying the GOPe. Posted by: Thomas Bender at December 04, 2020 05:37 PM (ztzef) 166

144 The people's tribune versus the oligarchs is what this is shaping up to be.
Posted by: whig at December 04, 2020 05:34 PM (pO7gM) Yup That's why the cycle ALWAYS seems to go Democracy > Oligarchy > Tyranny....and then sometimes back to Democracy. Not often. We made a Republic to break that cycle. But human nature may be too strong. Or something else is at work. But if the Republic isn't worth fighting, killing, and dying for, then Biden, Clinton and McConnell sure as fuck ain't. Mercs will only go so far. They're doing widening on I-16 and I-95, and modifying the connectors between the two and just started construction there. So, the speed limit is down to 55 now. It was 65. When it was 65 people drove 70-90 there. Now that the speed is 55 people are driving 60-90 there. Large difference in speeds you see. I've seen all sorts of near misses. There are so many stupid people in this world. I just stay in the far right lane speeding by 14mph at 64. Mostly safe there. Then I get on I-95 which was 70 but is now lowered to 55. I still keep in far right lane at 64 while cars accelerate around me to 80. I cut my teeth on ATL 285/75/85 craziness so I can handle this. But some aren't doing very well. Do many of them say stupid shit? Of course. I heard all sorts of Red State Democrats saying they were willing to work with Trump. They all say this "reach across the aisle stiff" especially in purple states like GA now is. Posted by: Blago at December 04, 2020 05:36 PM (hcE6S) I agree on going ahead and trying to win these seats. However, this presents two problems. -one, if we let them blatantly steal the presidential election, then it will not matter if people DO vote. There is a priority here to the multiple problems we face. -two, if we go ahead and hand the GOP the majority, what will they do with it? My priority remains: If elections can be blatantly stolen, then there is no point to any of this and we need to start planning for other eventualities. This whole thing has left me in a bind. If elections are not sacrosanct and cannot be trusted for results (and to be honest we are far beyond simply not trusting them- we know they are stealing this one) then what do we do? There are a few options, but each one is a mess where it is hard to control the outcome, even if we were all on the same page. However refusal to act means we will be telling the Dems: Go ahead and steal every election, our freedom and rights mean nothing to us. This is depressing as fuck. We can't give the Democrats full control of Congress. It's not about just losing an election or two: they will push through changes (packing the Supreme Court, admitting DC/PR, national mandate for mail-in voting, giving full citizenship to anyone who steps across the border) that will literally make it impossible to ever win an election again, perhaps for 100+ years.

Libertarians promise to do less with government power, which means they promise to look the other way while leftists use government power. It is an arms race, and the only options other than losing are to win or quit. Libertarians pretend like you can win by not playing, which you can't. The only way to win is to use the power for yourself and your own, and this is the fact of politics. Quitting involves moving somewhere else, but there are vanishing few of those places to go. Posted by: Harry Paratestes at December 04, 2020 06:03 PM (UPoLF) Correct. Slavery in itself was not a problem, but the fact of slavery was. Some were offended by it because it involved black people, some because it involved owning people, some because it involved people other than them owning people. But Lincoln was focused on the political union itself, which as an entity was more valuable than a moral victory (either way; robbing many people of their possessions, even if those were people, is not a moral victory any more than enslaving people is.) I suspect this rewrite took place in FDR's era, or more precisely during the Civil Rights Era to paper over the history partially. It's not that slavery wasn't important, it's just that to people in the 1960's, the Union being strongly anti-slavery was important to tell the story of how their ending Jim Crow was part of an 'arc' of history. Ending Jim Crow was similar; it did end political humiliation for many blacks, but it also broke up black communities and destroyed many black businesses and livelihoods. Remember that when we win, we will also need to understand how to tell the arc of history up to our current time. Clearly ours favors the less edited history - the preservation of a God-given and hard-won union against forces of globalism who would sell it out or break it up for their own profits. Posted by: Harry Paratestes at December 04, 2020 06:08 PM (UPoLF) The part about tariffs seems like agitprop to me. Those tariffs didn't come into existence under Lincoln or the Rs, and the Ds were the more dominant party, even having a lock on government for a while with the Whigs gone. If it was upsetting to the South, it's an issue of the D party screwing their constituents. Them screwing their constituents is quite plausible since many were tight with well-to-do northern industrialists. Sidney Powell has the answer (of course).
Georgians need to make it loud and clear that if they are to come to the polls, the electoral system must first be FIXED: "Loeffler and Perdue haven't even spoken out for President Trump on this. I mean, 'What the hell?' The Republican Party is nowhere to be found on this fraud issue, which leads me to think that they're as complicit in it as anybody else. The American people are a hell of a lot smarter than the politicians want to give us credit for and we are 100% fed up with all of them. ... Absolutely demand a completely new Senate race, on a paper ballot that everybody can trust, and bipartisan counting of them in full transparency. And demand a special session of the legislature. There should be a downballot race on everything, all over, from the Senate on down, in GA. There really should be. And they could put it off a little longer if they needed to. But it is imperative to get this right, and every public official in GA ought to be demanding it now." https://tinyurl.com/y6mjfgcu [towards the end] Earlier, she says that GA is the ONLY state that mandates using Dominion though the WHOLE state. She also says she thinks the Dems stole up to 6 Senate seats in The Steal, and 10 in the House. House, Senate, POTUS ALL legitimately belong to Republicans. Anyway, if the GA governor is Republican, and bought the system, doesn't it follow that system should be rigged FOR Republicans? Maybe it's a "Biden situation" where they don't NEED real voters to show. More likely, that governor is working for somebody ELSE though. Somebody who wants a Dem Senate. Having token Republicans here and there are perhaps part of the gaslighting scheme, telling us we have two political parties, when in fact we have one.
