From the last thread:
Back from voting! And it couldn't have gone better. No lines, pleasant people (yes, they checked my ID), and nobody said a word about my not wearing a face diaper. I voted for the "Repub"-endorsed candidates and "No" on all the proposed amendments, esp. one giving the governor the right to appoint somebody who lives out of state for an education board of supervisors. I don't think this governor should have the "rights" he's usurped now; don't want to give him any more. Ten minutes and I was driving back home. I should have asked them how the crowded it was on Nov. 3. Posted by: Wolfus Aurelius at December 05, 2020 09:12 AM (rpbg1) 29

On the topic of coffee: My standby at home is a Braun drip-type coffeemaker, 12-cup, with a tiny water filter and a gold permanent basket filter. Right now I'm using Cafe Bustelo, that espresso coffee, at n + 1 teaspoons where n = cups of water in the reservoir. Usually I do coffee with chicory.
I tried approximating the roast-peanut scent of Turkish coffee with the Bustelo by putting in some cardamom. No dice. Posted by: Wolfus Aurelius at December 05, 2020 09:15 AM (rpbg1) 40

Just a couple of rules, be nice to one another, no running with sharp objects and no peeing in the pool.
Let's examine that sentence. Technically, there are only "a couple" of rules, however, to make the math work out, the second rule only prohibits running with sharp objects AND no peeing in the pool. Therefore, one without the other is permitted. Obviously, this is not the esteemed Mr. Humanitarian's intent. This should read "running with sharp objects, and no peeing in the pool", which not only correctly flaunts the blog's NoMath tradition, but keeps everything Bristol shape. There are three branches of government, all who are sworn to uphold the constitution of the United States of America.
If Congress fails to do so, and then the SC fails to do so, that leaves one final branch to uphold the constitution: the Presidency. DJT will do his sacred duty. Actually it is. Dr Evil had a one day sale so I picked up a Calphalon espresso machine with a built-in grinder for a few hundred off MSRP. Pour water in the back, beans in the top, plug it in. When you want covfefe let the grinder do its job, move the portafilter to the group head, push a button for either one, two shots or an americano. We are just having some Jamaican Blue Mountain. Ahhh tastes like Piracy.
I remember back in the day that the wildly overpriced coffee was supposed to be the best thing. Compare to Folgers crystals, yes. What makes Jamaican Blue Mountain special is that it isn't. If you look at a cupping spider chart, the graph is almost a smooth circle which means that there is no character in the cup. None at all. And that is what makes it a wildly expensive crowd pleaser. For a volcanic coffee, they over roast it, but most people like Vienna for a breakfast coffee. The other problem with Jamaican Blue is that you can only buy it in its roasted state. Which means it isn't going to last long and after a few weeks will begin going stale. Once it goes stale, pretty much any other decent coffee will taste better. For less than half the price (which is still three times more than fine coffees that cup in the mid 80s), one could get a Panama Geisha (cups in mid 90s), that will blow you away and make you wonder why you ever thought Jamaican Blue Mountain was so great. JBM is very good for a breakfast coffee - just grossly overpriced due to the almost cult like following by Japan. Enjoy your cup of JBM. Its probably better than what I'm consuming right now. I can attest to this. I worked in Boun Ma Thuot for a project. Got so enamored with the coffee I had it shipped back stateside for a while. I liked the fried chicken too. You would point to the chicken you wanted (which was generally running around the restaurant), and they caught it, plucked it and fried it. It was worth the wait because you couldn't get it any fresher. I had them do that in a couple places in China back in the stix too. Tried it a few times but it never resonated with me.
I'm with you on this. I carefully select the coffees I want to drink and make sure that they are roasted exactly the way the bean and the brew require. Cold brew is great if you want to store coffee syrup in the fridge for some coffee based concoction. Cold brew also if you are digging around in the pantry and find a two year old can of Maxwell House and want to get some value more out of it than just mixing it in the compost pile. But I want to extract the elements out of the bean that give it the full flavor, just make sure the bean is fresh to minimize the undesirable bitterness. Unless you are in a coffee-producing country, you cannot get locally sourced coffee. People who are not in Ethiopia, Colombia, Hawaii, who also talk about locally sourced coffee beans really need to wrap their pretentiousness around their ignorance and stuff them both up their noses. There is something about food and drink that turns people stupid. I want to go into some shop that insist that everything they churn out is "locally sourced" and demand to know from where they get their wheat for their bread as I see no wheat being grown for many miles around. 403: A "conventional" analysis would point to the GOP and the Trump campaign being lax on the Democrat's success in gutting voter integrity measures due to COVID. Mass mail-in balloting; sue-and-settle tactics to negate signature verification, etc.
That, plus the Democrats probably committed unrestricted ballot harvesting, targeted to Philly / Detroit / Milwaukee / Atlanta. Even in those jurisdictions where its illegal, it just proved impossible to stop when you had mass, unsolicited mail-in ballots and drop boxes everywhere. Was thinking while water is boiling, what time exactly did the 5 states all stop their vote counting? The Georgia surveillance video show the woman at 10pm called to stop, thought day after election in Pa Philadelphia stopped at 11pm but not sure exact time. Posted by: Skip at December 05, 2020 09:19 AM So I just put gathered the data for Pennsylvania in my Excel sheet and compared each of the largest counties to how they voted in 2016. What stood out to me is that Trump actually gained votes in Philadelphia County compared to 2016. He lost Philadelphia County by 475,277 votes in 2016. He lost Philadelphia County by 471,050 votes in 2020. (If Wikipedia vote counts are up to date.) Trump won PA by 44,292 votes in 2016. Trump lost PA by 81,660 votes in 2020. A swing of 125,952 votes. Here are the counties where Biden increased the most from 2016: Allegheny: +63,142 Bucks: +37,652 Chester: +40,690 Delaware: +29,021 Lancaster: +24,754 Montgomery: +63,429 Meanwhile, in Philadelphia, where everyone seems to be focusing, Biden only had a 3% increase in votes from 2016 (+19,765). Almost every other county in PA, he had 20% or higher. The same situation happened in Michigan. Wayne County (Detroit) was where Biden did the least improvement from 2016. Is part of the Democrat fraud strategy to get Trump's Legal Team to focus on what seemingly would be the obvious areas of fraud -- big cities -- while they did their major fraud in every other area of the states? So when they find no or little fraud in the big cities, they reject the effort to overturn the states. While they have hidden all their fraud in every other large counties in the states. Maybe, just maybe, it is time for the MAGA Nation to go beyond "they cheated" and figure out what went wrong because the margins for Trump should have been much higher. Posted by: VADM Collingwood RN - holding Nelson's rum ration at December 05, 2020 10:48 AM (9X60i) What do the margins matter? The point being asserted is that the numbers were changed by vast margins to give Biden the victory, despite his margin of loss being enormous. Yes, it would appear we are surrounded by a panopticon of traitors and saboteurs. And what was said upthread about giving up... Everything is completely out of my hands. I live in NJ. I have emailed my Senators, Corey Booker, Bob Menedez and Rep. Mikie Sherril, as well as my Governor Phil Murphy, Democrats all, I haven't gotten anything back yet, I'm sure they will correspond. I have also attempted to email the GA SOS, GOV and AG, sadly they haven't gotten back to me either, I'm sure they too will at some time. If you call the GA Gov phone number: 800 GEORGIA, it goes straight to recorded message and getting a human on the phone is akin to a landing on the Sun. Bottom line, if you don't live in one of the affected states, there's nothing you can do. And also, this is all out of Trumps hands as well, its up to state legislatures, inferior courts and SCOTUS at this point. Unless and until a couple hundred thousand people descend on the state houses of the affected states, nothing is really going to move the needle. So who's organizing that? I know there is a Trump rally in GA today, that rally needs to happen at the Governors mansion and state house. Sucks, but that's where we are. Unless you are in a coffee-producing country, you
cannot get locally sourced coffee. (For one example) Posted by: Catch Thirty-Thr33 at December 05, 2020 10:45 AM (/0HPZ) There was a hotel on the Oregon coast where the owner's wife had done a medical mission to Colombia and was growing a coffee bush in the atrium. Wisconsin Supreme Court showed the way for any judicial bodies to get out of making what they are worried will be an unpopular ruling - they claimed there were just sending it to the lower courts first.
Of course, the lower court will ask for briefs in 30 days, and then 30 days to amend the response, and then 30 days to consider, and then sometime around summer they'll dismiss the case as moot since Biden and Harris will have been in office for 6 months already. Judge Sullivan showed all of us the blueprint this year, and the DC Circuit upheld all of his delaying games. Justice delayed is Justice denied, and that's the plan. And how it became a political demarcation --with the Left in favor and the Right perceived to be against. Am I the only one here who thinks that if Trump had ORDERED a nationwide mask mandate in March and DEMANDED complete compliance, that the same people who now damn him for not doing just that would have FOUGHT it so much that today going MASK-Less would be a marker of the Left? Oh and whomever is saying 4 states couldn't hold an honest election. Pish. You think OR and CO - both all mail in ballots for years now are honest? I'm not sure what all kind of cheating goes on in OR, but in CO they mail out ballots AND have same day registration and a month of in person voting so the hacks can register an Manual Labor without proper ID as many times as needed. No shit. Trump won this bitch by at least ten points. When they rig the vote, the answer is not "vote harder". Apparently vote tampering, fraud and rigging are perfectly legal activities. We should do so ourselves and school them on how its done. Why screw around with loser GOP candidates who really are beholden to plutocrats and hate We The People. If we are going to jump in and do the fraud game, lets go all out and have write-in candidates for all the offices, national down to local. lets not accept the "choices" we are given by the machine. Our candidates, even the local ones, should have a winning margin measure by millions of votes. The write-in local sheriff in a county of four thousand people should win the election by at least fifteen million votes. If the New Normal is flood the system with "votes", as a computer professional, I can definitely write hijack code that commits all of the bit-coin mining operations and google servers into generate trillions of votes for the candidates we want. With mail in voting, you know what goes out, you know what comes in and with extended deadlines you can make up any difference you need. The only path to a honest and secure vote starts with a physical person, with ID, casting a physical vote, under the watchful eyes of partisan observers. We also need an EC structure superimposed on the states themselves to blunt the fraud factor of large cities. Posted by: Thomas Bender at December 05, 2020 11:20 AM (ztzef) 503

Little late to the discussion, but UPS just delivered my coffee beans. So, I thought I'd add my current coffee making setup. I get two lbs. of Peets Coffee single source beans mailed once a month. Get it from their website not at local store. Free shipping and slight discount if you sign up for a subscription. Fresh roasted weekly out of Alameda CA and sent 2-4 days after roasting (probably best for western states if you want it freshest). Had Aged Sumatra and Papua coffee so far (both great). I use a hand grinder to grind the beans to coarse drip to use w/a Clever Dripper (like a pour over cone w/paper filter and an immersion French Press combined with a plug that releases the coffee when you sit it on your mug - Holds about 18 oz - 2 tbsp ground per 6 oz). So good! I am going to have make some more now w/the fresh beans (plain Sumatra this time).
