Leaked Fox News Internal Ratings Show "Catastrophic" Loss of Audience
Last Friday's ratings for the supposedly "conservative" outlet were less than both CNN and MSNBC for the first time in years, according to an internal Fox document containing viewership analytics.I saw a couple of commenters noting that Bret Baier had made the inarguable statement that Biden hasn't been elected by the electoral college yet. They seemed to take this as "Fox is getting the message." No it's not. They're in a corporate crisis. Yes, there will be attempts here and there to continue Conning the Rubes, and some people will be tasked with Outreach to the Rubes. But this is not a decision recently made. Fox -- the News Division -- has been trending hard left for years and years, and have ignored our protests and complaints about it. Remember Chris Stirewalt making the very, very early call that the Democrats had won the House in 2018 -- while people on the West Coast were still voting? Costing Republicans in highly competitive House seats the election, as marginal voters, dispirited by the early call, decided not to vote? And remember him explaining to viewers -- who were already registering their anger about this -- that Fox News' "brain room" (that's what they really call it, and it's a murderer's row of smug but stupid liberals) could make this call "because we're just that damned good"? If anyone can find that clip, please post it in the comments. Anyway, we screamed about that two years ago. And what happens Tuesday night? The same thing, but this time on steroids. This time, Fox News made the startlingly early call that the Democrats would keep the House -- and gain at least five seats! They're sticking by that call. Even though there is some doubt the Democrats will keep the House. Certainly they're not gaining any seats. But they're on Team Democrat. Have been for years. The guy making all these calls is a registered Democrat and a big donor to Obama and Hillary. Fox News knew what they were getting when they hired him. Fox News got what it wanted out of the hiring. They decided to do this. This is a plan they are executing. Even if one or two of these people make some very weak noises about Trump still having lawsuits in play -- which, again, is an inarguable statement; we should not credit these assholes for managing to report that which is inarguably true -- it's simply an attempt to con you into sticking with them as they continue their metamorphosis from ugly conservative pupa into beautiful liberal butterfly. It's no secret that corporations punish Fox, refusing to advertise on the station. That's why you see so many smaller companies advertising there. And it's no secret that our Social Media Overlords rank Fox News very, very low in their search queries. Or at least -- they did until now. Note that "asshoe" reports:
This costs Fox money. That's true. The liberal Murdoch boys and their liberal socialite useless wives have decided to reposition Fox as a leftwing channel. They think they can keep most of their unfashionable, racist current audience -- we're too stupid and sheeplike to object or change our habits! -- while making more money, as they get more advertising revenue from left-leaning megacorporations, and Google starts allowing their articles to appear on the first page of search results. The plan depends on "keeping most of their unfashionable, racist current audience," plus picking up some liberals. Liberals who apparently want CNN-style liberalism but with Shrieking Eagle graphics and country music in the bumpers. In other words: They want to keep the current audience by giving the current audience what it does not want, and attract a Phantom Audience of leftwingers who want their CNN-style leftwing bias with a Fox News branding, for some reason. The plan depends on whether we're stupid and sheeplike enough to continue watching them even while they stab us in the back. Early indicators say: We're not that stupid and sheeplike. It says a lot about Fox that they even thought we might be. They hate you. They hate your fucking guts. They might even hate you more than CNN, because they hate that they've had to pander to your ignorant uncultured racist asses lo these many years. And now corporate leadership is telling reporters they can be as nasty as they wanna be on the air, and people like Sandra Smith, Chris Wallace, Chris Stirewalt, and Neil Cavuto are jumping at the opportunity to tell you how deeply they hate even the thought of you. Soon they will begin pressuring the few people on the network with conservative credibility -- like Tucker, Hannity, Laura, and Mollie, to start trying to sell viewers on the idea that Fox is evolving, but it's still your Fair and Balanced Friend. Just like they pressured people to not criticize Chris Wallace. Remember that? Remember the strange way that hosts like Tucker Carlson could not criticize Wallace himself, but had to bring on guests who would do it? But that even those guests brought on to criticize Wallace would only do so gently? And that those guests would not even criticize Wallace by name, but would resort to strange locutions like criticizing "the moderation" -- not even the moderator, but "the moderation," as if the moderation sprang up independently of the sole moderator, Chris Wallace? That was not just Tucker Carlson being nice. Fox News personnel were specifically warned that they were not to criticize their leftwing hero Chris Wallace. That's not a speculation. I am telling you that is a straight-up fact.

By the way: A while ago I recommended boycotting Fox except for the evening opinion hosts, who are in fact good conservatives. Even if you don't like Hannity, you have to admit, he's conservative. But that won't work. Because Fox makes barely any profit from its News Division shows, which is basically everything except the opinion hosts and Fox and Friends. It's the opinion hosts and Fox & Friends that generate the big ratings in prime time (and in morning "prime"). The rest of their schedule is just a loss leader. So they don't care if you boycott Outnumbered. It's not making much money if you watch it, and it won't lose much money if you don't watch it. It's like trying to send a signal to ABC by boycotting their news show but watching all their entertainment shows. ABC could give a fuck if you watch their news -- if you're watching their profitable entertainment programming, then they have you in the only way that matters to them. So yeah, while I hate saying "boycott Tucker too," it's the only way to hurt Fox. Fox is bizarre: Their "news division" makes little money but their "news" division gets to censor the opinion hosts who do make money. And the "news" division gets to, you know, make absurdly early calls about who our president is to be. Sure, Tucker can rant about populism -- but it's the "news" division that gets to install a fraudulent president in the White House. And then the lowly opinion hosts -- who make almost all the network's money-- get told that that they are forbidden to even broach the subject of election fraud. None of this is just an "oopsie." This is a calculated corporate repositioning coming from the Murdoch Bois and then, a bit further down, Paul Ryan and Chris Wallace and the rest of the "Brain Room" crew. They have decided to betray you -- but they think so little of you that they think they can hang on to a substantial number of you by occasionally having Brit Hume on to say something vaguely conciliatory. Yes, they are realizing that their plan of taking a hard left turn but keeping their assumedly stupid and sheeplike audience isn't quite working, so they'll consult some corporate crisis response professionals who will advise them how to make some soothing noises during this transition period. But they have no plan of deviating from the plan to become CNN With Country Music. They thought about this plan. They previewed this plan for the past three years. They're now executing this plan. The only way that Fox stops the plan is if the Murdoch bois are forced to sell their stock in the company to someone with more credibility with conservatives. But the only way that happens is if their ratings fall so low as to constitute a bloodbath. And, as I've said: Who cares if that even does come to pass? Fox News is just a brand. It's not even a good brand. Once Fox goes down, there will be replacements. As Roger Ailes observed: Fox News -- the conservative-leaning fair and balanced version of it -- discovered an overlooked niche audience -- "Half the country." The current ownership of Fox and its suburban Karen liberal directors like Paul Ryan have forgotten that. They want to compete for leftwing eyeballs. Well, they're welcome to try! But there will in fact arise a new, big, conservative alternative. And whether the new alternative is Newsmax or OAN or a merger between them or some new network entirely -- the new alternative won't need Fox News' poisoned brand dragging it down.

I think they are doing this less for the money (getting better ad rates by getting large companies to advertise on the channel), and more to avoid the EMBARRASSMENT they get from their social circle and their wives about working at "icky" Fox news.

In an election a couple of elections ago AZ got a puking dem into the Election counting spot.
It took me 3 years of contact to get the last Conservative in that position to quit sending my daughter absentee ballots after my daughter died.
As soon as this guy got in my daughter started getting the ballots again.
Why the slow count in AZ? My guess.
The vote cheating had to be done with the Dominion software and that is why Biden was ahead election night.
The guy is trying to cheat; but, there are too many checks and balances in the actual counting area.
So the absentee ballots are being counted right; but, he's still trying to create the appearance of impropriety.

With the entire staff of the intelligence and honesty of Catherine Herridge or Sharyl Atkisson - not just a few reporters.
But I'd much rather have back something approaching an actual news wire service (they're the lifeblood of all news). As AP Reuters and AFP slipped off the shallow end into becoming like TASS in many respects, nothing has replaced them.
Collapsed, formerly actual news outfits like the NYT* and the like have mostly closed their foreign bureaus. So the wires are even more important now.
And they're garbage.
And it so happens I had an inside, direct view of the process, years back. It's a disaster for the world, really. The greatest country in history, the USA, the one that literally invented self-government and and open society, literally has no real news organizations of consequence. It's amazing, and a disaster.
* yeah yeah yeah Walter Duranty et al, but it's more complicated than that, and along with the crap and the lies there have been many periods and personnel doing a decent job as actual journalists - I saw some of the last of it up close

I do think Fox's core audience has noticed and will move on, biggest problem is the alternatives just need to up their game, too much like a YouTube channel. Someone with deep pockets needs to get involved.

What is fascinating about the Fox turn is it is pretty much the same as other groundbreaking, monolithic and popular creations: Disney, Walmart, etc.
Even though Fox was definitely leaning that way (censoring Newt on air is a big one I can recall off the cuff) they saved their powder so there was no alternative and could be the cap on the echo chamber. Calculated. Worse than your garden variety leftists, imo.

Tucker is probably in a difficult position. I get that--he probably thinks he has better access to an audience if he stays where he is and follows the Murdochs' rules to the minimal extent possible. Trying to get a new show on OAN, Newsmax, or wherever would be a gamble, and I can't begrudge him being reluctant to roll the dice on it.
But if the prime-time star power isn't taking a hit from this boycott, Fox probably isn't going to get the message. And besides, with this sudden spike in interest, OAN and/or Newsmax may not be as big a gamble as assumed.
So I say, nuclear option.

Hate to nitpick, but they didn't have the "chance" to be that. They *were* that. And they had the market almost to themselves. For a time CNBC wasn't a complete leftist shit show. They have some attack from the flanks from OAN and Newsmax, but they stood alone and dominated it.
I think that it doesn't matter that they're brand is poison on the Left and that they will be abandoned by their once fanatically loyal audience to languish on the margins or even possibly fail outright.
The powers that be don't care that the lit a hugely valuable, money-making asset like FNC on fire. They lit that fire deliberately. The viewed FNC as a means to an end - to interrupt the 2020 election and demoralize the enemy (that is, conservative real Americans). Sacrificing the network is an acceptable price for that goal.
All of it was done toward the evening of November 3rd. Nothing else matters. That it is a smoking crater doesn't matter. That they will never be trusted by anyone doesn't matter. That they're effectively finished doesn't matter.
It was just the cost of doing business. Do not try to ascribe business or commercial motivations to what Fox did. Commerce has nothing to do with it.

They would need a State level bailout given their ongoing potential liability. The Cruise Industry is dead-Guess where a good chunk of Disney cash comes from? Add in closed theme parks around the world and the possibility the film industry may suffer for years and I can't see the Mouse trying to consume more while trying to hide their panic on investor phone calls.
Pluss they already own ABC, so there would probably be some sort of FCC red tape there.

There is no clear-cut answer to that, Avi. Officially, probably not. Unofficially, almost certainly. If you have an addressable cable box (digital cable) or connected satellite box (most are nowadays), then the record of your recording - and your subsequent viewing, for that matter - is there. Whether it gets integrated into ratings is another questions. If you defer to Nielson, then no - it doesn't count. But more inclusive or comprehensive measuring outfits do include things like DVR and other time-shifted views, etc.

Barr gave an interview to CNN a few months ago and absolutely ripped Wolf Blitzer over mass mail in voting saying it extremely dangerous and susceptible to fraud.
He doesn't speak that much but when he does he speaks pretty plainly.

I was in a room full of Trump supporters, and it was definitely a bit of a disheartening thing for that to happen. Not that we thought Trump was going to win VA, but it was like "shit, maybe a blue wave is really happening if they can call VA so quickly"

On twitter, I've followed someone everyone calls "inevitable" who appears to be a fairly young guy living in Colorado (if you can believe the profile pic--always a big "if")
He tends to post photos from news accounts, and then adds the "eyes on" emoji, with the two eyes looking sideways.
The pics aren't particularly alarming--a hospital is on fire in Kenya. Two private planes collide over a lake in Italy. But the inference is always--pay attention, this is deep state stuff.
You might think he's a coo-coo conspiracy guy, except that twitter has suspended four different accounts under him this year. He appears with a different name and a different IP, and as soon as twitter figures out its him, he's gone.

FNC has been useless for years. Other than Tucker, Guttfield, Hannity
and Levin, no reason to watch. As it is, I DVR it. First time since FNC
launched I did not watch them for election coverage.
Watch their ratings drop like a stone outside of opinion. If Hannity and/or Tucker bail, they will implode.

I've been experimenting with it for a while and you can manage a decent outcome. The trick is spraying it with cooking spray or oil frequently.
The best is making a 1:1 Frank's hot sauce and melted butter marinade and basting it every couple of minutes while cooking. It gives a good texture and flavor. No breading but it needs to be something with skin on still.

Just finished the synopsis:

But they have called both AZ (11) and PA (20) for Biden.
290 - 31 = 259.
So that must be where the RCP 259 EV count comes from.
I think all media outlets show Biden at 290 and then called the race for him based on calling AZ and PA.

I am going to be a nerd that you want to throw fruit at but... the word is spoliation and it is the deliberate spoiling of evidence either through destruction or, in this case, mixing fraudulent ballots with legal ballots.
In court rules, the cure for this is the judge automatically assumes that the evidence will show what the harmed party said it would show and rules as if that showing is a proven fact. They can and do also fine the spoliator (I just made that word up) out the wazoo. A lawyer here in a divorce case got fined $100,000 for telling his client to delete incriminating pictures from his Facebook.

I'm learning the word exspoilation. And this time I think I spelled it right.
If you have a bunch of evidence in a basket, and there's tainted
evidence in that basket, evidently it all gets thrown out under this
concept.
Same as indistinguishable ballots that are corrupt.

I
am going to be a nerd that you want to throw fruit at but... the word
is spoliation and it is the deliberate spoiling of evidence either
through destruction or, in this case, mixing fraudulent ballots with
legal ballots.
In court rules, the cure for this is the
judge automatically assumes that the evidence will show what the harmed
party said it would show and rules as if that showing is a proven fact.
They can and do also fine the spoliator (I just made that word up) out
the wazoo. A lawyer here in a divorce case got fined $100,000 for
telling his client to delete incriminating pictures from his Facebook.

There is an adverse inference, the court gets to think the worst of what it would have seen but can no longer see due to the spoliation.

Ronna has been absolutely steadfast in her support of Trump. She was so pissed at the way the debates were changed and the agreed to moderators. She said if she has a say no Republican will ever agree to another debate arranged by the Debate Commission. She has come out publicly at tmes and said she does not agree with Mitt's positions on many things.
She has proven this over the past three years that she has been RNC chair, a position she was appointed to by Trump. She initially came on the scene as the RNC chair for Michigan and Trump credits her for getting him Michigan's electoral votes in 2016. She has done yeoman's work in arranging rallies, advertising, coordinating events, etc. She ended up with Covid along with a lot of other people at the same time Trump contracted it. She continued to work from home in Northville Michigan until she was ok'd to go out on the campaign trail again.
Leave the Mitt's niece bit behind. Trump has assholes in his family too.

Well, he was Canadian! He pretty much had to be able to pronounce French properly. I remember one episode where a lady was giving the usual little backstory for herself, then just at the end threw in the little fact that she was distantly related to someone who was supposed to be famous. Her uncle had been a boxer, and "His name was Joe Louis." Trebek, in a quietly stunned voice, said, "He was... the greatest boxer of all time!" I've already explained this multiple times.
1) Alaska has always counted absentee (not "vote by mail") ballots several days after the election.
2) Absentee ballots must be postmarked by Election Day, but are allowed about a week to arrive (many Alaska villages are reachable only by small planes, and the weather can be bad at this time of year).
3) There are metric fucktons of absentee ballots this year, all of which went out to real, non-dead, genuinely-registered voters.
4) Unlike Fox "News", we don't "call" elections until we are sure of the result.
5) That said, Saddam Hussein will win in Alaska before Gun Grabber Joe does.

I find I read a lot more and I watch some stuff but it's remarkable how messed up TV is. When I was traveling before the pandemic hit I would flip on the TV in the hotel room and was aghast at how horrible broadcast TV is. I had apparently forgotten. Nothing like watching a 20min show stretched into an hour with commercial after commercial after commercial. Seinfeld is the worst!
If you have any technical skills you should setup the Plex Media Server then you can rip all your DVD/Blu-ray disks and have a media library you can stream about the house. I carry an Amazon Firestick when I travel and plug that into the hotel TV HDMI port and then I can stream from my Plex server at home while on the road. You can also sync content from Plex onto a smartphone or tablet and play offline on say a train or airplane. Plex is some serious awesome sauce.
I get better news and information online anyway. All the talk TV is garbage with some special effects. I am currently considering OANN or Newsmax and will try them both and decide if I want to pay for the content or not. Probably not.
