Contradicting National Polls, Actual Early Ballots Cast in Three Critical Swing States Show Republicans Even With Democrats, Or Even Ahead

One more big thing here, too:

National polls show that a greater percentage of Biden's voters intend to vote early than on election day.

So Biden actually should have far more early voters right now in these swing states, because he's going to have fewer votes on Election Day.

But the ballots cast show Republicans keeping pace with Democrats.

The Republican Party is keeping pace in mail-in and early voting in three key swing states despite polls showing early voting should clearly favor Joe Biden.

Data out of Michigan, Wisconsin, and Ohio indicates that registered Republicans are returning ballots at about the same rate as registered Democrats in the battleground states.

In Michigan as of Wednesday, just over 1 million ballots have been returned, 40% from registered Democrats, with the same from registered Republicans. In Wisconsin, 40% of the 711,855 returned ballots have been from Democrats, while 38% have come from Republicans. The GOP actually leads in Ohio, with 45% of 475,259 early ballot returns coming from Republicans, compared to 43% from registered Democrats. The preliminary data matches up with the requests by party affiliation for mail-in ballots.

The data contradicts national polls showing Biden supporters overwhelmingly plan to vote by mail or early in person. According to a Pew Research poll released Friday, 55% of voters who plan to cast their ballot in person before Election Day support Biden, compared to 40% who support President Trump.

Biden's lead is even larger among those who plan to or already have voted by mail, with 69% saying they support Biden, compared to just 27% who support Trump. On the other hand, Trump leads those who plan to vote in person on Election Day, 63%-31%.

So if the great majority of Biden's voters claim they'll be voting early, but in fact are not voting at a greater rate than Republicans -- doesn't that mean the polls point to a Trump win in these three states?

In Florida, an average of recent polls shows Trump quickly filling the hole he'd dug for himself:

trumpbidenflorida

Trafalgar -- one of the very few polling companies to get 2016 right -- puts Trump up over Biden in Michigan, 46.5% to 45.9%, obviously completely within the margin of error (0.6%).

Still: those national polls, filled with Californians and New Yorkers who just don't matter, are just not reflective of what's happening in the twelve states that do matter.

Biden's average in Pennsylvania fell by 1.5 in about 2 days, and it'll fall even more once that crazy +13 Quinnipiac poll is phased out. Meanwhile, Trump's average is skyrocketing in Florida. Keep in mind this is 18 days before election day.

69 Do I need to repost from this morning?

I guess I'll just restate it, not sure I made it all clear.

There is a huge disparity between voter intent on when they plan to vote. 60% of GOP voters will vote on election day, 56% on Independents, and 30% of Democrats.

In actual election day voting, Trump will get TWICE as many votes as Biden.

The Democrats must bank early votes to remain competitive, and need to win the early vote by 40 to 50 points, otherwise they will lose.

They currently are not doing that. It is particularly bad in Michigan. The Michigan polls that show Biden leading are claiming that 3 times as many Biden voters have already voted as Trump voters. However, that is not true. In actual early votes, the GOP and Dem are even.

In Michigan the Dems are severely under performing, and if they don't get their voters to the polls soon, Michigan will not even be close.

There is NO SCENARIO where Biden can lose Florida and Michigan and win the election.

75 The polling industry has no reputation to kill.

Oh, and btw, Nate Silver has figured the perfect way to grift from the polls but keep his reputation. He basically crowdsourced his data collection to the polling outfits but can turn around and blame them if his meta analysis is incorrect for giving him bad data. Or he takes victory laps when he is correct like in 2008 and 2012 with internal polling from a candidate to "correct" the media polls.

111 Salon is trying to tie John James to the leftists who tried to kidnap Gov. Karen. Based on what? Based on what the FBI alleges.

Michigan Republican Senate candidate John James received campaign contributions and was photographed with the organizer of the rally where conspirators accused of planning to kidnap Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer allegedly plotted with a militia to recruit more members.

Ryan D. Kelley was the organizer of the "Well-Regulated Militia" rally at the Michigan capitol in June. The FBI alleged in court documents that the leader of the group who plotted the attack on Whitmer met with militia leader Ty Garbin and a confidential source at the rally to discuss a plan and recruit more members.

It's all the FBI alleges. However there are no real ties. Just that some of the would be kidnappers showed up at one event and the FBI is saying that's where they plotted the kidnapping. What does the FBI base that on? The FBI's political agenda.

Gary Johnson regularly polled between 6-8% in 2016. He ended up with 3.5% in the election.

Jo Jorgenson is now regularly polling around 3%, representing a very solid return to the mean.

Democrats had their own protest vote candidate, Jill Stein, and the Green Party did increase their historical average from about .3% to about .9%. Disaffected Democrats voted for Stein. Disaffected Republicans voted for Johnson.

And Jorgenson is not pulling Johnson's numbers. The Libertarian protest vote is going to come home to Trump.

124 Posted this before. If you believe that Biden is going to win, there are only 5 ways that's mathematically possible.

1. Trump 2016 voters flip to Biden
2. Trump 2016 voters stay home
3. Democrat voters who did not vote in 2016 turn out for Biden
4. Third Party 2016 voters break for Biden
5. Trump 2016 voters flip to Third Party

Does anyone have good anecdotal support for any of these? Not that I've seen. Liberals will argue that 1 and 5 are possible because Trump's senior base is freaked out over the Rona. 4 is unlikely because there were more Johnson and McMuffin voters than Stein voters in 2016, and they are more apt to lean right. As for 2, lol. That leaves 3. Are there a bunch of black voters who didn't turn out for Hillary but will for Biden? I doubt it, but maybe. Heavy black turnout was the thing we all missed in 2012, but that was with Obama on the ballot.

And i think they may have actually listened to me, and realized that the actual man who is president is not the evil villain the propaganda media has portrayed him as.

136 I would take this with a big grain of salt. Michigan, Wisconsin, and Ohio do not register by party in my understanding, so there is no such thing as a registered republican or democrat from those states.

The party percentages referred to in the link are based on modelling by a firm called Target Smart. They have collected data files on voters, but I have never seen them before this year, so I have no idea how their estimates will translate to actual final vote shares or how predictive their data really is.

Most states with actual registration by party seem to be showing much higher percentages of democrats voting early, as expected for this year based on surveys. Much higher percentages of Republicans say they will vote on election day.

Hopefully the numbers are accurate, but I'm not making any bets on it.

The question of legitimacy arising from Trump losing the national totals while winning the electoral college can be put to rest if 1) He comes closer this time by narrowing the gap in blue states or 2) Puts to be the idea of scrapping the electoral college by winning the national count outright.

We know how many folks in blue states don't bother to vote because it don't matter, but if we can get those people to the polls anyways it could make a difference in the perceptions of the stupid and easily mislead. Which turns out to be a rather sizable chunk of the American electorate.

And who knows, it could make a difference in a few congressional districts. So, if you're a deep blue stater get out and vote, and take your apathetic neighbors with you.
I guess the same could be said about safe red staters too, but it seems red staters know how tenuous jthat status is.

155 Remember that both in 2000 and in 2016 the Democrats claimed that the EXIT POLLS were more accurate than the actual voting. And exit polls are even more bogus than pre-election polls -- who in their right ind would confess in-person to some green-haired nose-pierced college minimum-wage freak with a clipboard on the sidewalk outside the polling place the they voted for Trump? No one.

So of course Hillary (and earlier, Gore) obliterated the Republicans in the exit polling.

They're going to pull that again this year, guaranteed. If Trump wins, they'll claim the election "was hacked," since the more-accurate exit polling showed Biden won.

The question is... where are these residents? Did they all move out?

The implications of failing to count so many people though are huge -- if so few people are counted in NYC and California and other blue states then that means in January when reapportionment of the House and Electoral College is made there could be a SIGNIFICANT loss of seats and EC votes in Blue States for the next 10 years.

I believe one pundit has said that New York AND California could lose 2 - 3 representatives each.

I am declaring Florida for Trump right now.

I have seen polling internals that show Trump up over his 2016 numbers by 5 on the Atlantic Coast and 10 in Miami-Dade.

Trump will win Florida by a minimum of 400K votes.

It is very unlikely that Trump wins Florida but loses GA, NC, or AZ, so you can start penciling them in on your map.

224 Biden doesn't need a lead in early voting. It's the late voting he intends to dominate. If things are as close as in 2016, we'll have multiple Florida 2000 style court battles.

225 I'll leave it to the serious people like TJM to run actual numbers, my back-of-napkin scenario for VA is 1) ultra-super-turnout for Trump, due to usual factors plus incredible war on the society by current Dem govt. 2) less turnout and more Trump votes in black vote in Hampton/Richmond/etc.

I just remember 2014 when Tom Cotton won Arkansas by about 17 points, but the final polls showed a close race.

I refuse to believe that if there had been accurate public polling that Republicans wouldn't have moved some of the Arkansas money to Virginia or New Hampshire where a few more million dollars might have made a difference.

Posted by: TheJamesMadison, levelling Metropolis to save it at October 16, 2020 03:18 PM (+rZgP)

228 Here's my take:

There is really only one deciding issue in major elections:

Name recognition.

You might wonder how Arnold Schwarzenegger, a Republican (sure, a squishy Republican, but a Republican nonetheless) won the governorship of California, which was even back in 2003 a lock-solid blue state, in which Democrats routinely would get 65% of the statewide vote? And the answer is: Fame. His name was universally known to voters -- he had nearly 100% name recognition. The competition was not nearly as famous -- only Arriana Huffington had some name recognition. But nothing compared to Arnold. The rest were essentially unknown to the public.

Policies, record, and party affiliation were irrelevant. People voted for Arnold because they recognized his name. Period.

The same will happen with Trump. Those five letters T-R-U-M-P are the most famous five letters in the world right now.

Forget about politics. Forget about Party.

Name recognition will win it for Trump. Bank on it.

James has gotten a donation from the guy Ryan Kelley who is head of the Patriot group. 2 of the guys who were part of the plot to kidnap Gov. Karen showed up at one event he held. The brain trust at the FBI claims that's where they plotted to kidnap Gov. Karen. If that isn't a direct tie of James to that kidnapping group what is?!?!?!

BTW, the event they showed up at was a Back the Blue. Kelley - "We coordinated the entire rally with Michigan State Police [and]
thanked them publicly for their service. To suggest our rally was a
meeting place to discuss a plot against the [governor] is grossly
inaccurate."

Some how the communist FBI is still all tying it together.

She was taken to a voting machine, where she again shouted that she wanted to vote for Hillary. The poll worker clicked on Hillary's name, asked her who else she wanted to vote for, and she said, "Nobody! I'm done!"

And she proceeded to be walked away.

301 Prayer Request

I've mentioned this dear woman before. She is in my congregation. Her name is Arlene. She had a knee replacement and had all kinds of problems since then. Now she can't urinate and she has a fever which might be from a previous UTI that they didn't seem to have the correct meds for before. Her blood pressure has been dropping. Her daughter worries about the fever because of possible COVID. Anyway, if you could pray for her healing it would be much appreciated. We all love her so much. Thanks so much.

Incorrect regarding MI and WI. There is an online service that will tell you within a few 10ths of a percentage the party affiliation of early votes.

It is easily done through voting history of precincts and the number of votes returned.

306 Putin doesn't care that:

1. Obama dismantled the Polish nuclear shield.
2. Obama and Hillary sold a Russian company 20% of American uranium.
3. Joe Biden was tasked with getting him in the WTO (a 19-year campaign of Putin's)
4. Obama and Hillary reduced the export restrictions on technology shared with the Russia.

Putin's job is foiling the Democratic Party in America. He seems to be doing nothing else these days, but foiling the Democratic Party.

361 Ho Lee Fuk

Link below is a Chinese video cut from a livestream apparently from 9/24/20, posted to YouTube 9/30/20 in which the host describes the Hunter Biden materials that were released just two days ago. In other words, this video was posted two weeks before the NY Post article.

The story is that some of the Chinese power families are in fear that Xi is going to confiscate their money and so they released these hard drives (plural) in order to stop him.

1st drive: Hunter Biden's deals with Ukraine, China, Kazakhstan and sex tapes, some with Chinese females

2nd drive: details of Xi's overseas wealth and plans

3rd drive: details of CCP bioweapons (!)

He claims that initially a copy went to DOJ and Pelosi as warnings (we have your dirt, you'd better win) but that a departure separate whistle-blower got a copy to Trump.

Could be nonsense but this video went out two weeks ago. I suppose it's possible that this guy could have gotten the info about the Biden stuff from a back channel a couple of weeks ago and is making up the rest.

And in lots of cases that would never be of interest to most folks, it will ensure actual conservative results (e.g., personal jurisdiction). 470 394 I've been hearing about a fresh "surge" of WuFlu since July.
Posted by: Asshoes at October 16, 2020 03:38 PM (22mNy)

I think the numbers show that every area will have one big spike, then a steady drop off. And each city and area follows it's own trajectory, which is why national numbers are foolish.

New York, New Jersey, and Louisiana all had their big spike in the spring, along with a lot of mismanagement. Texas and Florida and the rest of the South had their spike in July into August, now tapering off. The upper midwest and the west never had much of a spike til now, so it's their turn now.

there is no "2nd Wave", there hasn't been one of those anywhere in this country. Instead, what happens is one spot gets hot, then gradually gets over it, then a different spot gets hot, then gets over it. The only thing that Lockdowns have done has been to delay the initial onset of the first spike in different areas - but as soon as they start opening up, then that spike comes and the total illnesses and fatalities over time end up being the same for those places that locked down and those places that didn't.

I've been thinking that the best way to do this is not to give anyone an "earful", no discussions (since they won't listen anyways) Instead, tell them you have something you've come up with a little thing that gives you great Positive Vibes, that you want to show them.

Then you get up, take a breath, and do your dance. "Go Trump, Uh Huh, Go Trump, Yeah Yeah!!". Do some lariet action with one hand over your head, maybe a bit of Frankenstein arms out front, then close with some rockin' pelvic action! Everyone will be very impressed!

This is somewhat similar in comparison to the 1980 election and the 1984 election.

John Anderson, running third party, got about 6% of the vote, which was largely (In my humble opinion) a group of disaffected Republicans who did not want to vote for Ronald Reagan.
There was no Anderson in 1984, and Reagan won by a landslide.
Agreed, there was a LOT of positive economic news in 1984 for Reagan to run on, but third part candidates tend to do funny things in elections.

535 The polls are crap.

Not necessarily wrong, but they're crap. Phone polls get responses from less than 10% of the people they call. 90% of the people who are called hang up as soon as they hear it's a pollster.

Do you think the 10% that actually respond are a representative sample of the people who will eventually vote? Who the hell knows? The pollsters claim they can fiddle with the sample weighting and get meaningful results. I think they're full of crap, and as a result . . .

The polls are crap.

539 501, What a lot of folks are missing is that corporations, government, and educational institutions at their heart are risk averse.

If they start getting lawsuits based on critical race theory training/Title IX violations and lose them on racial or gender discrimination, they will dump it. If they get enough lawsuits regarding section 230, anti trust, violation of terms, etc. and lose enough of them--they will capitulate. You cannot install virtue in such places but you can place the incentive structure there for them to do the right thing regardless of their desires or that they pay through the nose.

Remove or limit Sullivan v. NYT, by returning to the older libel/slander doctrine, media will be forced to comply or go bankrupt.

A lot of folks dump on trial lawyers for a variety of sins, but when you are the aggrieved one or accused of a crime, you want the meanest sob on the block to represent you. And at the heart of their actions is individual fairness to client and mucho bucks for them.

In the long run, people and institutions respond to both positive and negative incentives.

And I certainly have no worry about Election Day voting at the polling stations by registered voters, whether they be Communist or Republican.

BUT... I have EXTREME WORRIES about illegal, unauditable voting cast by unsolicited mail-in ballots whose provenance cannot be determined.

FINALLY, I have utmost TERROR at the thought of the Communists manufacturing mail-in votes AFTER ELECTION DAY IS OVER and flipping the election of the presidency and most down-ticket offices to the communists.

A recent Oct 2020 poll by Scott Rasmussen indicates that you are probably right. The demographic least willing to lock down the economy again were those 65+ in age (23%). The most willing were 43% of millenials ages 25-34 followed by 18-24 year olds at 39%. This was a likely voter sample.

These are very encouraging numbers. The one caveat about Florida (DaveinFla please jump in) is that the Hispanic vote in Florida tends to be a little higher because of the huge Cuban immigrant population, who tend to be very conservative (although the younger Cubans-Americans aren't).

576 That's all welcome news, but I don't know how any claim can be made that "registered" Republicans are keeping pace with "registered" Democrats in Michigan and Wisconsin, since neither state registers voters by party.

Texas doesn't either, but at least records the party chosen by voters who participate in primary elections (called "open primary, public choice") so that would provide some insight into the metrics discussed here. However, primary voters in Michigan and Wisconsin may only choose one party, but that choice is concealed ("open primary, private choice"), so there's absolutely no information to work from in that regard.
