Sefton: sefton at cutjibnewsletter.com | The Morning RantProgressivism Is A Religion, Part LXXVI The people who live across the street from where the pastor of my church live have a sign on their front lawn that says this: In Our America:And it's not posted near the house, but rather out right up where the lawn meets the sidewalk. Its placement plus content ("In OUR America...") comes off as being belligerent and aggressive, as if they're just daring anyone to disagree with or contradict any of the sentiments expressed. That was a few months ago. And then I started seeing it other places, the latest being outside of a church in downtown Denver during my Colorado road trip. It reads like a mantra, something you would say to yourself over and over again to remind yourself what you believe. So not really like a mantra so much as it is a creed or confession of faith. Christianity has a rich history of creeds and confessions. Many books have been written about the various creeds and confessions of the Christian Church. And this list is showing up in various forms all over the place, on signs, T-shirts, coffee cups, wall posters, etc. These represent the articles of faith of the progressive religion. The list is introduced by "In our America" or "We believe" (which is very much like a traditional Christian creed. For example, the Apostle's Creed starts out "I believe in God, the Father Almighty, creator of heaven and earth...") Or even "In this house, we believe..." Yes, like most creeds and confessions, there are variations in the content. For example, some of them say "Love wins", others "Love is love" which appears to be far more common. "Kindness is everything" is on some, but on on all. "Water is life" also appears in some versions, and I'm guessing it's there to support clean water projects in Africa. I especially like this one here, where the "Kindness is Everything" line appears just above a row of raised fists. Because nothing conveys the idea of kindness quite like the threat of a severe beating. These slogans are quite popular. Even some misguided Christians are trying to get in on the act by coming up with their own version. You really can't get more religious than this. Except for maybe blood sacrifices. Oh wait, progressivism has those, too. I expect this list to grow in time. I've seen some that say "health care is a right" Also "Global warming is real." Perhaps we'll eventually see statements in support of ballot harvesting and court packing. Because there is no way to put the brakes on what progressives think are essential human rights. However much you give them, it will never be enough. By enforcing a rigid and unyielding secularism, religion is not banished from the public sphere, it just shows up in different ways. @adamhousley Exclusive: early Jan 2017, a Retired SR state department official wrote a letter to the FBI as a whistleblower after he uncovered evidence he says showed classified info was being misused by the Clinton Foundation. Two weeks later after he got no response, he walked into the Adam Housley @adamhousley FBI office in DC to deliver the intelligence/info in person. This info/intelligence was completely ignored by James Comey & Peter Strzok. He also alleges he has proof of lying to Congress. He was not low level. The last line on that sign betrays the flaccid thinking of virtue signaling leftists. If the Constitution matters, then you can use it to effect the other things you say you are for on the sign- but in the way the Constitution says these things are to be determined, not EO fiat or judicial usurpation of the legislatures of the states. You want those other things, convince people and vote on it. These numbskulls forget that's how the original Constitution was put together, conversation, conversion and affirmation by delegates.

A county Trump won 2-1 in 2016. Voters are pissed and confused. they REALLY took a long time to send out the absentees this year probably on purpose but could just be bc so many govt workers AREN'T working "cos covid" so you get the ballot late, then you have to figure out the stupid envelope thing, then you have to do individual bubbles now b/c of the new "no straight party ticket" law, and then you send it in and HOPE it doesn't get stolen or otherwise trashed, and that the idiots who do the counting have time to count it and don't just toss it in a fire! voting in PA oh so corrupt Posted by: BlackOrchid_j9HX3 at October 09, 2020 11:23 AM (j9HX3) 102

"Mr. Vice President, I'm speaking," Senator Kamala Harris proclaimed. It was a moment during the vice presidential debate that women across the nation found to be all too relatable. Immediately afterward, the phrase became a trending topic all across social media. Many women said it so closely reminded them of what it was like to be a woman in a corporate/workplace setting, a woman in a patriarchal society and just a woman, period. For one group, in particular, the plexiglass was reminiscent of the many barriers they face in professional settings while the distance served as the long winding path they very often trot towards leadership. Harris, the first Black and South Asian woman to be chosen as a Vice Presidential candidate for a major party candidate, was no exception to the looming stereotypes that follow Black women throughout corporate politics, and just plain ole everyday life. Thousands of tweets from Black women across the world showed how "seen" they felt during that viral moment. As one Twitter user mentioned, the challenge for Harris was not only winning the debate against the current vice president but managing to do so without the lens of the "strong/angry Black woman" stereotype. Black women and men alike noted the additional obstacles Harris had to battle the entire time. Often subject to the historically racist caricature of an "angry Black woman," President Trump demonstrated how Black women often have their tone and attitude policed, instead of the substance of their ideas engaged, when he called her a "monster" in the morning. It wasn't just critical men who came under scrutiny, however. The support from white women was also subject to criticism by some Black women across social media, as it came with its own juxtapositions. Harris, also the first graduate of a historically Black college or university to vie for the high-ranking White House position, not only inspired dialogue around women utilizing their voice, but also inspired an upcoming generation of young leaders. Another Twitter user said that she hopes young girls everywhere learn how to declare their voice when being talked over. Posted by: Bertram Cabot, Jr. at October 09, 2020 11:34 AM (63Dwl) 207

yes, the leftist "fascism" has attributes of some religions. Some truly believe tyranny is needed to convert the unbeliever, the same tyranny used to spread Islam. Even Institutional Christianity has some unsavory sides when it comes to exiling the "sinner", or making demands that one "kiss the ring" to be a member.
In its most basic format, Christianity is the one body, Jesus Christ is the head, all (true) Christians are "members in particular". The various institutions are religions (often with wolves inside), earthly segmentations that group people by worldly interpretations. In that sense, the true Christ in You One Body is not a religion, The Church is spiritual, Jesus is its High Priest. (earthly institutions always become corrupted, as we see commies infiltrate/corrupt every good institution) I'm still a little irritated that the thing my Lutheran church made us all repeat each Sunday was a doctrine that emerged from a compromise with the pagans at the Council of Nicea, instead of devoutly repeating actual scripture. That is how we get denominations ... schisms. But at least the Bible is still used, and members can read it (thanks Gutenberg, thanks faithful Catholic scribes), and there is no physical force applied. NPR Fact Check - Republicans have said that vote fraud is an issue.
That is misleading. A recent study has indicated that as much as 93% of all votes are corrected accounted for. Also, some areas are so effective in accounting for votes they exceed ballots cast which offsets shortages elsewhere. I forget what the word is, but something like "affirmed" or something-meaning, I suppose you're not going to overturn the guy in the wheelchair-unless he's a Trump voter. Also this one house with the "gay plus" flag has a sign saying, "Presidents are temporary . Because, if I'm paying attention to Dave, there is no path to victory for Biden if Trump wins PA and FL.
Hey Biden! Your lies about not banning fracking are totally working Posted by: RoyalOil ----------- Pretty much. Mathematically, Biden can win picking up AZ, NC, and OH and lose FL and PA. But realistically, there is no way he can lose FL but win AZ. It's all a sliding scale of redness, if FL goes for Trump, then the redder states also go for Trump. FL and NC are really the key. If Trump wins them both, then Biden has a very narrow path to victory. If Trump wins FL, NC, and PA, then it's over. Trump wins. So since I am all about caveats this year, I am not aware of any demographic shifts that make AZ substantially less red than FL. It is possible that Trump could win FL and lose AZ, but that would have to be driven by a demographic change in the last 4 years. I don't think it has happened. I'm still a little irritated that the thing my Lutheran church made us all repeat each Sunday was a doctrine that emerged from a compromise with the pagans at the Council of Nicea, instead of devoutly repeating actual scripture. That is how we get denominations ... schisms. But at least the Bible is still used, and members can read it (thanks Gutenberg, thanks faithful Catholic scribes), and there is no physical force applied.
Posted by: illiniwek at October 09, 2020 11:37 AM (Cus5s) a clarification - the Nicene Creed is about defining the Doctrine of Trinity, which is never explained in any formal way in actual scripture. In Our America:
Immigrants make America great Health care for all Diversity is celebrated Love wins Science is real The constitution matters! _______________ "Science is real" -- except when it tells us that there are differences between the sexes (or anything else that we don't want to hear). "Science is real" -- which is why we have to hide the science (like records showing temperatures declining) that doesn't confirm our pre-existing beliefs about things like "global warming/climate change." "Diversity is celebrated" -- except for diversity of opinions, that is. We demand that everyone think the same way we do! And because we believe in "love," we'll happily kill you if you don't! And "immigrants make America great" unless they're the First Lady, in which case we'll mock her immigrant accent and insinuate that she's here illegally and call her a whore! Posted by: TrivialPursuer at October 09, 2020 11:45 AM (k4dH2) 303
No one says science isn't real. Way to straw man though.
We're arguing that science has been infected with politics and is being purposefully skewed to benefit an agenda. But yeah, fuckstick. Keep saying we deny 'science'. Declaring yourself a believer in "science" is a way of distinguishing yourself from the caricature of the conservative that the Left trades in. Because nothing gives you a sense of unearned superiority more easily than having a knuckle-dragging foil to compare yourself to favorably. The irony is, most of the dumb toads who spout this nonsense could not define "science" if their life depended on it. They've never picked up a book more complicated than Harry Potter and have not a clue that such a thing as the philosophy of science even exists. But yeah, "science is real." Whatevz. Fun (or disgusting) fact:
Newton S. Minow is one of the members of the Presidential Debates Commission. He is 95 (yes, ninety-five) years of age. He was FCC Commissioner under President John F. Kennedy! He became famous or infamous for his "television is a vast wasteland" statement in a speech in 1961 (!): "When television is good, nothing - not the theater, not the magazines or newspapers - nothing is better. But when television is bad, nothing is worse. I invite each of you to sit down in front of your television set when your station goes on the air and stay there for a day without a book, without a magazine, without a newspaper, without a profit and loss sheet or a rating book to distract you. Keep your eyes glued to that set until the station signs off. I can assure you that what you will observe is a vast wasteland." TV people were obviously offended. One of them, the producer of the future "Gilligan's Island" series, supposedly named the Skipper's boat the S.S Minnow as a dig at Mr. Minow. Posted by: Gref at October 09, 2020 11:46 AM (AMIL/) 313

Local conservative radio host Mark Belling thinks Trump is holding off on running ads because Trump voters will vote in person. They'll run in the last 2 weeks of the campaign to encourage people to get our there and vote. The early and mail-in voters in the swing states are Dems and the Biden campaign wants them voting now.
We'll see. The Dems do seem to have a huge amount of cash to spend on ads - as Belling pointed out, they're even running them on his show although no liberals listen to him. Is that because Dems have no problems with wasting money? Or because they want Trump voters to feel like there is no escape - we're surrounded? Probably both. I keep reminding myself Hillary blew though much more money than Trump did in 2016 and in the end, it didn't work. Posted by: Donna&&&&&&&V at October 09, 2020 11:50 AM (HabA/) 342
As much as I have criticized Ronna McDaniel for campaign faux pas, I have to give her big high fives and props for her no holds barred statements and responses this am on MariaB.
Maria was asking her about the debate commission, it's virtual idiocy, etc. Ronna went at them with both barrels. She said that the commission is a joke, it's all Dem operatives and sympathizers, and if she has anything to say about it, the Republican party will never have another debate arranged and hosted by them. She called the members partisian hacks . That they never contacted the campaign, just changed the format and rules on their own, despite Pres. Trump being told he would be cleared well in time to participate and would be in no way able to pass on corona to anyone else. She said the commissions action , like all their actions were done to help Joe Biden. I can't do her tirade justice. Hopefully someone can post it . It was glorious and refreshing to know that finally, there are some Republicans in charge who aren't going to take it. She also said the race is tight and they need every single Trump voter out there helping to get the vote out and Trump's message and policies with it. The crap they sell in plastic tubes around me is trash. I think it's made to melt down like a flavored lard. Some of it has pieces of bone and gristle and I don't want to know what parts it comes from. One brand is tolerable, and I use it to flavor ground beef for tacos. It too melts down completely. Some of the local meat shops make their own "chorizo" which is basically sausage that's flavored with chili and cumin. But it's just a differently flavored breakfast sausage. Blech. I do have a recipe for bacon wrapped dates stuffed with (real) chorizo, in fact, that's the recipe. Pre-cook the bacon soft so you can still wrap the date, then grill it to semi-crispy/crispy. Advertisements on TV, radio, and print are basically money in campaign consultant's pockets as they usually get a generous percentage of ad costs placed.
Ditto with most campaign mailers, robocalls, robo texts, and so on. GOTV with personal contacts, knocking on doors, etc. and perhaps social media contacts where the research is still out are the most effective at getting voters out--particularly in a base election. In person managing of volunteers door knocking is also the lowest paid campaign activity to consultants. Dunno about social media as I haven't kept up with the literature. 393,
But we can't actually know anything, because every well has been poisoned. Actually, you can. A technique is there to get usable information from biased sources--lawyers have been doing this for centuries by cross examination of lying and biased witnesses but it does require attention to detail. A) for example, the NYT stories--even now, you look for the nuggets usually at the end of the story that contradict the main narrative. Statements against interest such as Biden is no longer running ads in Ohio because he is concentrating on winning PA and MI tells you that Ohio is no longer a battleground by the Biden campaign. E.g. statement against Biden's interest in winning Ohio but telling the reader where Biden will surely win. B) Small sources like the Nation, Jacobin, etc. are often quite truthful about the shortcomings of their leaders and policies whereas mainstream media is not. The technique is old, your enemies will often tell you straight up what they plan to do and where they plan to do it. So, as distasteful as it might be, seek out the strongholds of the opponent's intelligentsia to understand their aims. C) Some sources, aka Baghdad Bob syndrome, are so wrong all the time that you can basically take what they publish and believe the opposite. D) Some sources are weathervanes for the popular consensus--so do not expect anything other than what the other MSM herd thinks from these sources. E) Triangulate your information--in other words, seek confirmation of your hypothesis about the state of reality by checking multiple sources. Easy enough to do in the internet age. Last, but not least, things like pictures, visual images, etc. are important. Biden's creepy behavior is apparent at a glance from pictures of him interacting with women. Ditto for listening and watching Kamala in a debate. People rarely can hide who they are for decades and rarely will change--this is true of politicians as well. The suffering people of Russia would see pictures of leaders with curious gaps and analyze who was next to who at the Mayday parades and so on during the bad old days. So if they could get information about who was in and who was out, most voters can as well. Posted by: whig at October 09, 2020 12:15 PM (OLiBJ) 465

Those are vacuous slogans that can fit on a bumper sticker. If you can fit your political philosophy on a bumper sticker, it isn't worth having.
Immigrants make America great, and one made me, but even she HAD to show a passport to get into the country, to a Customs official at a port of entry. (That makes millions of Americans VERY, VERY, VERY, VERY, VERY, VERY, VERY, VERY, VERY, VERY upset.) Health care for all, but as I pay for my food, water, clothing, and shelter, I'm going to pay for my doctor. The farmer, well-driller, tailor and tradesmen need to eat. So does my doctor. I'm not expecting my doctor to work for free. (And remember: YOU. MUST. BE. HEALTHY. To get "health care".) Diversity is celebrated..well, duh. Love wins...they don't study history much Science is real...but they want science to be dogmatic, at which point science dies. The constitution matters only when we get the unitary Socialist state we so very badly want!!! What a bunch of shallow people your neighbors are. 418 You can get higher than a 4.0 because Honors and AP classes both give a bonus to your GPA. Well, even without that, an A+ is a 4.33.
Posted by: Broseidon - Now A Scientist, Too at October 09, 2020 12:00 PM (FCQR/) And even then, many HSs take the top 10% of the class and declared them all "valedictorians" to help their chances of going to college and make the school and school district look better. (The throwaway yawner of the speech at the secular bar/bat mitzvah is given by someone picked via popularity contest.) My HS did this as do the other HSs in my district. When they gave me my ballot, I wrote down "James Hetfield". A spoiled ballot but I didn't care. Posted by: Catch Thirty-Thr33 at October 09, 2020 01:02 PM (3DJkT) 470

On the yard signs, I think there was a link from Ace to an American Thinker piece a few weeks back that had a good run-down on their condescending nature.

...and if you ever see a sign that says "health care is a right", know that the person holding it or displaying it wholeheartedly endorses slavery and the repeal of the 13th Amendment. And point it out to them.

The last statement contradicts most of those above, which are misleading in and of themselves. I nominate the one who defecated this out their pie hole for the "Obfuscation" dark cloud award.

He won Ohio big in 2016 and barely won MI and PA.
So...maybe. Posted by: TheJamesMadison, twirling and whispering meaningfully --------- Yeah, it is nice to not have to worry about Ohio, but none of us really were seeing that as a point of vulnerability for Trump. That means Trump is ahead in Western PA, but that is only part of the story. What this does tell us though is that Trump is performing at least slightly better than in 2016, so the Biden +14 polls are bullshit. Posted by: Dave in Fla at October 09, 2020 11:47 AM (5p7BC) Yes, I don't see where Trump lost support. It couldnt' be that every disaffected blue collar Dem went Trump in 2016, some were on the fence. Events since must have added to that total. The Walkaway movement is adding even more from an entirely different demographic. Posted by: Oldcat at October 09, 2020 02:12 PM (eoQWY) 476

I would just like to point out that 99.99% of Lee Harvey Oswald's, Sirhan Sirhan's, and James Earl Ray's lives were peaceful.
