Chris Wallace is a Disgrace
And Fox News May Very Well be Threatening Staffers Who Point This Fact Out

Bonchie at RedState:

The debate was about what you would expect. Trump was overly aggressive while Biden lied and relied on the moderator to save him continuously. That wasn't supposed to happen. This was Fox News, and Chris Wallace is supposed to be a serious newsman. He was anything but that, though.

As the night wore on, Wallace grew more and more hostile, refusing to let Trump answer questions at times, asking slanted questions that benefitted Biden, and not bringing up topics that would have been beneficial to the President. At one point, Wallace even joked with Biden about Trump supposedly ranting, which was really just Trump trying to answer a question, in what was one of the most unprofessional displays by a moderator I've seen.

Here's some more of the play by play to give you an idea if you didn't watch it yourself.

Biden doesn't support the Green New Deal.

Oh, Wallace got that out of him?

No, Trump did.

Oh, well, did Wallace clarify what parts of Green New Deal Biden is against?

No, needed to move on...

-- Andy McCarthy (@AndrewCMcCarthy) September 30, 2020

I was going out of my head with Chris Wallace declaring the urgent "NEED TO MOVE ON" every single time Trump was effectively attacking Biden.

We NEED TO MOVE ON from every single issue that Republicans find interesting, in order to discuss the issues that Democrats -- such as red diaper baby Chris Wallace -- find interesting.

No, we can't talk about Hunter Biden's receipt of three and a half million dollars from the richest woman in Russia, the ex-wife of a former mayor of Moscow.

Even though the media -- including leftwinger Chris Wallace -- considered RUSSIAN INTERFERENCE the only story that mattered for three and a half of the last four years, now that we've got Hunter Biden taking millions of Russian money, we NEED TO MOVE ON.

Move on to what?

Why -- to Global Warming, of course!

@EddieZipperer

4h
Wallace in a nutshell: Excuse me! Excuse me! Nobody cares about the things you're talking about, Mr. President. The American people want to know where the two of you stand on the issues that matter to them. Now, Mr. President, how much did you pay in taxes in 2016?

More Bonchie:

One of the worst moments of the night was Chris Wallace pretending as if he doesn't know what Critical Race Theory is and trying to needle Trump for opposing it.

I believe Chris Wallace does know what Critical Race Theory is. He just supports it, and therefore wants to do the Motte and Bailey defense of it:

The motte-and-bailey fallacy (named after the motte-and-bailey castle) is a form of argument and an informal fallacy where an arguer conflates two positions which share similarities, one modest and easy to defend (the "motte") and one much more controversial (the "bailey").[1] The arguer advances the controversial position, but when challenged, they insist that they are only advancing the more modest position.[2][3] Upon retreating to the motte, the arguer can claim that the bailey has not been refuted (because the critic refused to attack the motte)[1] or that the critic is unreasonable (by equating an attack on the bailey with an attack on the motte).[4]

This is such a common logical fallacy offered by leftists that they don't even know it's a fallacy-- they just think it's how people argue.

Critical Race Theory gets its foot in the door by saying, "What's wrong with teaching people some sensitivity?"

And then, once they get hired by a corporation or a government, they have white people standing alone in front of a group being forced (on pain of being derailed in your career) to Confess Their White Sins.

It's a literal Maoist struggle session.

Chris Wallace pretends he doesn't know that -- because he's playing the Motte and Bailey game with CRT.

It's a thoroughly dishonest, and thoroughly leftist, tacitc.

And Chris Wallace -- who reports FACTS, not OPINIONS! -- is only too eager to deploy it.

And that's because Chris Wallace agrees with this leftwing Maoist goal of endlessly denigrating white people and treating them as lower than second class citizens.

Chris Wallace, like all other left-liberals, thinks that white people should be discriminated against.

Except themselves, of course. Interestingly, most of the very white people who support this shit are too rich to be negatively impacted by a reimposition of Jim Crow.

Conveniently enough!

But perhaps the biggest abdication of Wallace's duty involved the very beginning of the debate. Biden was asked if he supports packing the court, one of the most damaging, consequential possibilities in modern American history. When Biden refused to answer the question, Wallace simply moved on. When Trump tried to press, Biden told him to shut up and Wallace just let it happen. It was astonishing to watch.

Wallace also never demanded that Biden condemn BLM or antifa -- despite himself demanding that Trump condemn the "white supremacists" in Kenosha -- and did not press Biden's claim that antifa was "just an idea, not an organization."

Apparently it's "just an idea" that's burning down your business and gunning people down in the street.

More at the link, including reactions in tweet form.

It was so bad that even fellow Fox hosts Brian Kilmeade and Greg Gutfeld felt the need to risk being fired to criticize Chris Wallace.

Kilmeade tweeted, "Why is @JoeBiden allowed to interrupt? @realDonaldTrump is not."

Gutfeld, in response to a tweet that said that Wallace was laughing along with Biden wasn't a good look, tweeted, "That was not good."

Andrew McCarthy, a Fox News contributor, also criticized Wallace, as seen in the tweet quoted from the Bonchie article, above.

Now, Kilmeade has deleted his criticism of Wallace. Whether that was out of professional respect or the corporate enforcers of Fox telling him to delete it or face consequences, I don't know. I'd imagine that even if it was his own decision, it was a decision informed by the knowledge that Fox News is a censorious corporate cult and does not permit any Wrongthink outside the narrow corridor of neoliberal Acela-corridor ruling-class-supporting thought.

Had enough yet?

We NEED TO MOVE ON from Fox.

That said, the "commission" is garbage and Trump needs to bypass them. Debate Kanye, hosted by Rogan.

64 At the end of the day Trump got what he needed out of Biden -- soundbites on his insane policy positions.

Biden has spent the last several months either cooped up at home or conducting softball interviews and engagements. Biden's handlers have been careful in not letting him commit gaffs or get pinned down on policy other then in the most neutral way possible.

The debate last night was Trumps best chance to get Biden on the record -- unscripted and no handlers -- and committed to the most Leftist positions. For example:

Packing the Supreme Court -- "I'm not answering that question."

Denouncing ANTIFA -- Biden couldn't do it and then threw his Leftist supporters under the bus by saying he was against defunding the police.

Green New Deal -- I'm for it but I'm against it but I'm for it.

Hunter Biden 'pay-for-play' foreign influence -- 'That's a lie!'

The voters already know Trump is... animated... when it comes to talking and they expect that from him but they probably weren't expecting Biden to gaff on several very serious issues. I expect by the end of the week those moments will be packaged into targeted campaign ads in swing states... and Trump's objectives in the debate will be complete.

++++++++++++
This is the big reason why I think - in the absence of "a la carte" cable packaging - streaming is going to eventually arrive at the answer. It's in gray middle ground now, but the best way to get a la carte is to cut out the middle man (the cable carrier). This is starting, and will get more popular. Want sports? Buy ESPN and leave the rest at the curb. Stream it in. This will continue as the big exclusive contracts with cable carriers start to turn over and the networks demand provisions that let them sell in isolation over the top via streaming.

This is already true of OAN. You can get their service (the stupidly named "KlowdTV") and depending on how much you want to pay you'll get OAN and Blaze and a couple of others, or you can pay more and get some more content. It isn't expensive in either case (and their basic package is free for the remainder of the year, I think).

This will be the model. The cable companies hate a la carte because it wrecks their subscription model and I think they have a vested interest in cramming shit you don't want down your throat. But their role will be increasingly obviated as the content creators like Discovery and ESPN and other networks (HGTV, for example, which is still in a legacy carriage contract) just start selling directly, delivering it via the internet, and your smart TV doesn't care whether it comes from Comcast or the network directly. It's all just a bag of bytes anyway.

A la carte will never come to cable (at least, not until it's too late), but it will absolutely come to streaming, and has already begun. And none of this "we don't have a carriage agreement with Echostar" crap like you have now, which locks you out of stuff you might want.

129 Corrupt scumbag Joe Biden called the President of the United States a racist, a liar and a clown and told him to shut up. It's easy to use the entire Nat/Sec Apparatus to wiretap, frame and overthrow somebody you hold in such contempt, isn't it, Joe?

No wonder the President was feisty. You'd be pissed too if you had to spend the evening with Chris Wallace and Joe Biden--especially after seeing Gen. Flynn prosecuted by a judge, yet another special un-American Police State rule just for Donald Trump. And then you have to go debate the swinish yet senile jackleg grifter who participated in framing both you and Gen. Flynn.

Bill Barr wants it both ways. He claims prosecutors were malicious, yet will not charge them with malicious prosecutions. Or even fire them. Or even discipline them. What the hell, Bill? You can't protect your precious DOJ by finessing a Police State coup, Big Boy.

Thus far, there have been exactly three Deep State prosecutions:

* Obama/Clinton/Castro lawyer Greg Craig was given some Flynn-like charges as a way to prove the even-handedness of the Mueller Fraud. Craig agreed to a Kabuki Court-show because they couldn't very well charge the Podestas. So they gave Craig a leftist D.C. Acquittin' Jury and It Was Like It Never Even Happened(tm).

* Life-long FBI Agent and Senate Security Chief James Wolfe leaked the FISA Warrant for Senator BurrWarner, and was charged with jaywalking. The sweetheart plea was conditional on not ratting out the crooked senators who participated in the Coup.

* FBI lawyer and Coup-plotting seditionist Kevin Clinesmith, who forged documents at the behest of Andrew Weissman for the FISA Court, in order to hide Carter Page's history as a CIA mole. Otherwise, the FISA renewal would have been rejected. He also got an overdue book fine. It looks like he was also given a plea deal, not to sing, but to silence.

That's it. Now Comey will appear before the Senate, who will either protect him or try to throw him--and him alone--under the bus. Here's the thing that AG Barr doesn't or won't grasp: if the Obama/Biden/Clinton Crime Family are allowed to escape with impunity, they will have to keep committing more crimes to cover up the previous crimes, a permanent escalation of sedition, as we have seen. Now, they're even burning down and wrecking their own cities and assaulting Americans with their Klantifa Brownshirts.

Worse, should they re-assume power with no accountability for their Coup, that would institutionalize an American Police State forever.

And that's the day the Revolution would really start.

Well, I'll repost this old comment I made about Fox news, because it seemed to resonate with Ace, at least:

"Fox News is a curious case. Their product is shit. It has always been shit. Even in context of the rest of our execrable cable news media, it's of noticeably lower quality.

Their people are so low-grade, that I'm surprised they can finish complete sentences between Crossfit sessions and appointments with the hair stylist. It's like the cable news version of Balls' Models from Zoolander.

But they've been #1 for quite awhile, on the strength of precisely one strategy: being the only right-of-center news outlet in the United States.

Rupert Murdoch rightly perceived that he could serve up the very thinnest of gruel - a thoughtless, cheap, trashy product - and make a gazillion dollars by serving a yuuuuge and utterly ignored mass-market.

And they are knifing that golden goose right in the neck. It's bewildering."

155 "We NEED TO MOVE ON from Fox."

I do glance at foxnews website, giving it the same 15 seconds per day that I give NYT, WaPo, CNN, etc. If you need unabashed Trump boosterism, American Greatness has had that beat covered for over four years. It's a good site, even with the obvious bias.

170 The one good thing about the debate was how badly Wallace looked. Reaction from several of my family members was horror, because they thought because he was on Fox that he was conservative.

Good point from last night's ONT:

[]>>They're softly weeping at MSNBC. I really don't think they know what happened.

That's important. Real important. It can never be said enough, "they" and "us" don't even perceive reality the same. Their goals are not our goals. Their strategies and reactions are not normal or even sane to us. And that makes it damn hard to compete in much of anything against them - because to us, their moves are totally random.

But their reactions are a tell. And they're not clever enough - or more importantly, disciplined enough - to fake a reaction very well. If those are real, salty MSNBC tears - that's an important data-point. They perceive a loss. Good enough for me.
Posted by: English Lycanthrope at September 29, 2020 11:03 PM

As we keep seeing, the MSM keeps laying out the same traps for Trump, and when he goes in a completely different direction, they are devastated and horrified. They likely had their talking points all prepared and then -- the Trump blitz.

So 2020.

Honestly, no one should find any of this surprising. The Media has been who they are for decades now, and this is how they behave--especially with someone they despise to an all new level, like Trump.

The next debate (if there is one) will not be any better; there's a good chance it will be far worse.

yeah, they frame Trump (and real scientists) as climate deniers, if they deny it is Only American CO2 that is the cause of all "global warming" ... which they claim is also causing floods and earthquakes and pandemics and .... every damn thing

... all caused by only American Industry (China/India ... go ahead and keep belching out raw soot, dump all your sewage into the rivers/ocean). Since more CO2 has helped food production and helped green up arid areas ... the lie is even more pernicious than just an odious environmental lie.

Posted by: illiniwek at September 30, 2020 12:36 PM (Cus5s)

225 Every Trump question was posed as though the Democrat position was the norm and Trump had to "defend" his different position.

Every Biden question was designed to tee up the Democrat talking point.

Basically it was "Mr. Trump why are you a bad person" and "Mr. Biden, why is Mr. Trump a bad person."

And whenever Trump cut in to defend himself against the 2-on-1 attack, Wallace would jump to Biden's defense: "Sir, you had your turn now it's Biden's turn."

No wonder everyone is complaining about everyone talking over everyone. Biden would start his lying, Trump would cut in with "hey no that's BS" and Wallace would cut in over Trump to give Biden the chance to continue lying. Trump isn't the type to back down from that, so yeah, it was chaotic and loud and jumbled. Because it was two on one and the "one" was man enough not to take it lying down.

There was one moment where Trump was told "you have one minute to reply" and then Wallace flipped over to Biden and the two of them had like a ten minute conversation about the best way to implement the Democrat agenda.

It was maddening.

Posted by: Stephen Price Blair at September 30, 2020 12:38 PM (2lndx)
+++++++++++
Depends on how you sign up. I am working on a post for Ace if he wants it on cord-cutting. You can sign up from your box (Roku, Apple TV, Android TV, whatever) and it is bound to your platform in that case because that's how payment flow works. The alternative - which I *strongly* recommend - is to never sign up for anything from your set-top box. Sign up at their website on a PC. Then you get a username and password from the *service* and it is not bound to an intermediary. Then, when you load the app, you just authenticate to the actual subscription from the service provider. The benefit of this is portability, because the authentication and service management is handled at the provider instead of the platform (the smart TV system). Not all apps lack portability when signup is done from the platform, but many do. Handling sign-up outside of the smart TV platform is a superior option because this usually permits portability (though I don't have an Apple TV and couldn't say for sure - this has been true for me across Roku and Android TV (I prefer Roku)).

THIS ^^^. Of course, everyone has to arrive at that decision on their own. As I said above, I cannot and will not be a viewer to a news network I have no respect for, or for one I simply do not have any trust in.

It's the same feeling about Drudge, who I haven't visited in countless years now -- but used to visit multiple times a day. Lost my respect. Doesn't deserve me as a viewer. Do not trust.

It's hard to let go and turn your back on these kinds of repositories you used to have faith in; I get that. But they're shells of what they used to be. And they don't deserve me. Or you. Or us.

+++++++++++
OAN doesn't have a streaming service just for themselves. The parent company (Herring, IIRC) has a service called "KlowdTV" that they inked a deal with to stream (there are a lot of nuances with this due to how cable carriage contracts work, and usually a network cannot directly offer paid streaming and one of the ways around it is to make a cutout company that is technically a carrier, and then cut a deal with the "carrier" for your network). "KlowdTV" is the service that carries OAN and AWE (the other Herring channel), along with some others like Blaze and some others.

To sign up, you sign up for "KlowdTV" and not OAN directly.

373 I feel like Newsmax is closer to my way of thinking than Fox is. Our local talk radio station dumped ABC/AP for Fox last year, not much improvement I can see. Only thing this station has to offer is Beck/Limbaugh/Levin. Notice I do not include Hannity though he does come on after Limbaugh and before Levin. I usually listen to Christian radio at that time, as I do at most other hours.

405 My impression of the debate immediately afterward was that it was just a lot of people trying to talk over each other (and, interestingly, when that happened I could only make out what Biden was saying). I can't imagine it did much to convince anyone of anything. Biden showed, passing that "low bar", but also faltered visibly at times.

The question "Who Won?" (as idiotic as that is, even normally) doesn't even seem applicable. It's like an auto race where the only two cars spend the whole race crashing into each other, without even going around the track once.

Now, reading this, it reminds me that the only real "Won/Lost" call goes to Wallace, who yes, completely disgraced himself and authored that train wreck.

Nobody should be too surprised. FoxNews ambushed Trump in the first debate in 2016 (in the Primary). It backfired spectacularly, costing Megan Kelly her career, and exposing a number of Republicans who eagerly promised to support whoever the nominee was - and then DIDN'T. FoxNews has been establishment GOP (and therefore anti-Trump) since Day 1.

At the end of which he should look at Biden and (thanks to Biden's bizarre statement earlier) and state "and the main organization dividing the country, spreading hate and racism, and funding violence and crime, BLM, links directly to 'your party' for donations on their website. Will you denounce the violent racism of BLM, Joe?".

When people complain that Trump didn't follow the rules, to me that means the rules aren't written to be fair to a brash, plain-speaking, non-Deep State Made Man.

Also, Biden's handlers know Trump's character and how he deals with Media questioning. If they send Ol' Joe into a tank battle on foot, armed with a squirt gun, they are lousy handlers.

If Fox wants to include a Democrat for "balance," they should do what the socialist networks do and hire an EX democrat (like the Dems hire EX republicans.

446 Wallace used the 50 year-old term "Racial Sensitivity training", no "Critical Race Theory.

CRT teaches that white people are born guilty and should hate themselves, minorities should hate white people and everybody should hate America.

It's not just evil, Hitler-esque and incorrect, it's also un- Constitutional.

447 ONce the election is over, I'm sending a photo with an email to Fox News showing my cable tv cancellation.

They did this: Chris Wallace and Donna Brazile at a debate, ON FOX NEWS.

I hope Rupert Murdoch's kids and Paul Ryan get a form of COVID that morphs into Zika that morphs into Flesh-Eating Disease.

448 and one last cheap shot: Ainsley I hope Hannity become's ex-husband #3.

I bet their pillow talk consists of:

AE: "I'M A MOM! SOUTH CAROLINA! JESUS CHRIST!"
SH: "Buckle up Ainsley, that's just the tip of the iceberg. Huge news inbound, I've got a lot to unpack!"

449 Fox News folk were clearly told not to disparage Wallace's performance (Tucker tonight will let us know for sure). Bill O'Reilly is lacing into Wallace on Hannity's radio show right now and Hannity is defending Wallace at every turn. Sell-out.

450 As I said last night, I've only been watching OANN for some time now. Can't remember the last time I watched Fox (except for TuCa, and even that's been some time ago).

Now, I don't believe for a moment that OANN is an impartial, nonpartisan news network. They're totally in the tank for Trump. But the thing is, they're pretty honest about that, and everyone who watches them knows it, too.

If I have to watch a biased news network, I'd rather watch one that isn't going to piss on my leg and tell me it's raining.

The "unpartisan" media is a made up creation. Back when papers and magazines did the news, you had republican and democratic papers in every town.
Heck, some in the past were owned by factions of the party!

They fact checked each other to some extent, since each side had its options and the barriers to entry were fairly low.

Radio might have changed scene some, but with only a few networks TV tried from the start to spread the lie of one, unbiased media view. That spread down as the newspapers died off.

451 I know this is a far off take.

Faux News knows what their polls really say, and it is not good for Biden. So they had to put not just the thumb but the whole fat Chris Wallace reputation on the scale to help Biden.

Yeah, it is a weird take. But Wallace flushed his reputation (what was left of it) last night, and it could only be because they felt they had to.

Yes, I see this as a disaster for the myth of unbiased news and for Biden. A president should not NEED to be saved by anyone, and especially in troubled times everyone really wants the leader to be a leader.
