I struck another blow for freedom yesterday.
Apparently Dollar Tree's new gambit re: masks is to post a sign outside, but then not to say anything to you about not having one until you are actually in line to check out. In other words, you've invested time and energy in the store, but not yet your money. Checkout girl: "Do you have your mask, sir?" Me: "Medical exemption" *waving letter* Checkout girl looks confused. Manageress wanders over. "You have a mask?" Me: "Medical exemption." Manageress: "Can I see it?" I handed it over. She pored over it as if she were a tax attorney looking for a loophole, but at last handed it back and shuffled away. I love frustrating these little tinpot dictators. The entire rig looks pretty flimsy. He should take some industrial engineering classes, so he can optimize initial and replacement material costs versus repair time versus pounds of fish obtained per hour versus average dollars per pound of fish paid by Boston markets. Otherwise, he will never know if he's making more dollars per hour than homeless bums on welfare.

Late to the thread so these remarks will get lost in the politics. Oh well.
This is an interesting painting. He captures, visually, the quiet of inshore shallow water on a calm day. Max Kurzweil has a near Impressionistic technique. Look at the brush strokes making up his coat, the hull of the boat and the water. They blend from a distance but seen close up each stroke is distinct and deliberate. It's effective. Actually, the way the water is created reminds me of Van Gogh with a very light touch. I doubt that is deliberate, just an observation. Thanks, CBD. This is a pleasant painting. Mask Wearers have found comfort in their "Trust Science" religion, and the force of government to convert the unbeliever is very attractive to them. I've heard a few places where people were speaking on the problems caused by pandemic, but then saying they felt it had given them a sense of common cause ... (and the deplorables are viewed as evil/ignorant, especially if they defy outdoor mask mandates).
The Karens can't imagine Liberty and the Constitution are under attack, or that those defying Mask Orders perceive the pattern of fake experts and crushing mandates that hurt the small business and free person, but just happen to enrich BigCorp. I think he did but can't remember. Posted by: MJ at September 29, 2020 10:58 AM (gAMkn) In so many words. When Hillary was imagining what it would be like if Trump were President "Because you'd be in jail" Best line from the 2016 debates Posted by: Marybeth at September 29, 2020 11:00 AM (4pK1/) 591
My idea a couple weeks ago: if you want to get Biden to lose it, repeatedly refer to him as Mr. Biden. When Sundown tries to correct him, all Trump has to say is "you must be confused Joe, Mike Pence is the VP." Then continue to address him only as Mr. Biden.

President Donald Trump's personal attorney Rudy Giuliani went on Fox Friends on Tuesday, a matter of hours ahead of the first presidential debate, and declared that there is "no doubt" Joe Biden has "dementia."

Trump will get the first question and should make clear from the get go "First Chris, I just want it noted that I requested that both Sleepy Joe and I take drug tests before the debate and that neither wear an earpiece during the debate. Joe refused on both counts. My drug results are with my handlers and will be released after the debate and as you can see, I have no earpiece."

530 Ryan Lizza
@RyanLizza NEW from me: I re-watched all of Trump's 2015-2016 debates. My takeaway: He's a much better debater than you may remember and it is Trump--not Biden--who is being underestimated going into tonight. Posted by: m at September 29, 2020 10:50 AM (xRJkg) Lizza is simply working to set the bar lower for Joe. Posted by: Gref at September 29, 2020 11:01 AM (AMIL/) 597

In other words, if John Smith wants to be a lady sometimes, he'll have his legal name changed to Whisperderia-John Smith.

FNC reporting Trump campaign demanding the candidates ears be inspected for presence of radio receiver prior to debate, Biden campaign refusing.

Biden won't have to say much tonight. All he has to do is grin that idiot grin or frown with the camera focused on him during Trump's answers. Wallace will chuckle and say that it looks like we already know Joe's answer to that. And then Wallace will proceed to as Trump another question.
Rinse. Repeat. Watch for it. OR, Biden has been faking it for this very moment to catch everyone off guard. We'll see. Posted by: Justsayin' at September 29, 2020 11:06 AM (Fs5vw) 604
