AP Poll: Americans Are Done With the "Mostly Peaceful Protests"

Support for the " " " " protests " " " " has fallen 15%, and approval is now below disapproval.

The poll from The Associated Press-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research finds that 44% of Americans disapprove of protests in response to police violence against Black Americans, while 39% approve. In June, 54% approved. The new survey was conducted Sept. 11-14, before Wednesday's announcement that a lone Louisville police officer would be charged in the Taylor case, but not for her actual death.

I'm sure the sight of Mobile Riot Command Centers being unloaded in the street, and of cops being shot by Mostly Peaceful Gunmen, has increased public support.

Since the protest that shut down Michigan Avenue in Lansing (where the guy on the motorcycle trying to get through had a rifle pointed at him), I last saw the dickheads who were leading that protest standing along Saginaw St. a couple weeks later. They were holding up signs, but I didn't read them because traffic was going past them at 40mph. So I guess that second one was "peaceful".

OT: got word protests are happening in the city where I live. So, I decided to take a look at the area where one of the protests is supposed to take place. I wanted to eyeball the area, looking for any signs that BLMantifa was pre-staging equipment. (supposedly, protesters were bused in last night. Yeah, nothing says spontaneous protest quite like busloads of commie scum)

And, no, my wife wasn't any to happy that I decided to check out the area.

I kept a 1 block radius from the advertised site of the protest, and...nada to see, though it is early. It being early is why I decided to take a chance and look around a bit.

However, the trip wasn't a complete loss, because, as I headed downtown, I naturally got caught at a couple of stops lights, and was hemmed in by the cars around me.

Getting caught at the light wasn't the problem. However, the thought crossed my mind that, while being in a car, surrounded by a mob wasn't a big deal, what would be a big deal is getting hemmed in by a couple of cars, then being surrounded by a mob.

All it takes is a driver to freeze in front of one, and, watch out.

As I told my wife, I took the chance to look, once, and, that was enough.

Here's what confuses me. Cities are being burned and destroyed by right-wing white supremacists (RWWSs). Kyle Rittenhouse is RWWS. Earlier he had a fire extinguisher and put out a dumpster that Rosenbaum and crew were trying to push toward a gas station--and Rosenhouse became very irate "Why you DO THAT?!" Why did Rittenhouse destroy Rosenbaum's personal property fire?!

So, was this RWWS against RWWS--there's no facts behind that. All of the other people chasing Rittenhouse were proven to be leftists.

How is it that right wingers can so easily slip into a crowd of "peaceful protestors", and commit damage as part of this crowd, but suddenly when we want to find blame they are obviously identifiable as RWWS? We see people destroying things yelling "Fuck the Police". Okay RWWS can yell "Fuck the Police" to inflitrate into a crowd--but then the purpose is to *blend* into the crowd--how then are they immediately identifiable as RWWS as soon as they cause destruction--especially when I haven't seen one ounce of evidence that anybody has documented anything like that.

They said my evil, twisted ex sister in-law (featured on the sidebar during a deposition where she talked about holding a baby's still beating heart) who in her dead baby-brokering travels, went through Portland at lunch time.

She tried to convince the MIL and FIL that nothing was happening, it was peaceful as could be. They knew better (FIL was pissed).

These people don't care - and I know that if a family member were hurt or even killed in front of them, they'd consider it collateral damage for the greater good. I can only hope and pray it happens to them (especially in her case).

She was not the sainted innocent EMT shot dead while asleep in her bed that the media portrayed her as. Taylor was named on the search warrant because she had, for years, been assisting her ex-boyfriend Glover in his drug dealing operation. She had run errands for him to his various trap houses, she had purchased bail bonds for several of his jailed associates, she was keeping his drug money for him, and she was letting him get mail at her home address and use her home address on some of his bank accounts. In 2016, Taylor had rented a car that turned up with a dead body (an associate of Glover's) in it. Cops questioned her about the body, and she said she had loaned the car to Glover and didn't know anything about the body.

And that's just what has been leaked so far. Some reports say there is more coming. By the time this is over, Kamaltoe and a lot of other race-baiters may never want to hear the name Breonna Taylor ever again!

I always had a problem with "Black Lives Matter" as a slogan because it implies there is a significant group of people who DON'T think black lives matter. It's an explicit accusation of racism against anyone they protest, whether that person has exhibited proof of being racist or not.

For those of you who aren't quite the history nerd that I am, the Molotov Cocktail in it's modern form dates back to the Winter War of '39-40 when the Finns used them against Soviet tanks.

DC is the same way. The number of restaurants, coffee shops, and small businesses that rely on people actually going to the office (such as dry cleaners) going out of business has been picking up lately. Even if Biden won on November 3 and the mayor opened the city back up in celebration the next day, the damage is already done and won't be repaired for a long time.

That also includes areas in the near suburbs in which a lot of office space is taken up by the feds and contractors.

You may notice that "peaceful protests" are rarely if never used around the sound of "Trump" or "law and order". This reinforces the idea of angst, fear and panic to Trump and Republican.

There is no logical associations. There is no requirement that what they say are lies - blood libel even. Because this generation is incapable of reason and logical thought. They understand the world around them as a series of univariant equations with binary outcomes. There is no nuance, there are no mitigating circumstances.

Pure emotions tied to words. We are dealing with something less than lizard brains.

Depends what you mean by "peaceful". There was a protest in my town, a Chicago suburb, that was apparently all dumb white locals, with no nighttime afterparty.

But they were supposed to march from city hall to the police station and go home, and instead they turned down a side street and wound up a mile away in passing my house, in a purely residential area. Intimidating people in their homes doesn't qualify as "peaceful" in my book.

I don't know how much or what evidence the cops had about the killing, but they probably figured that if they arrested Taylor she'd say that Glover murdered the guy, and if they arrested Glover, he'd say that Taylor murdered the guy, and they'd both end up getting acquitted. The murder is one of the reasons (besides the drug dealing) that the cops had been investigating Glover (and his GF Taylor) for several years.

336 Glad to hear it, Ben Had. Reason I'm asking is, would bringing a semi-auto sporting rifle be out of place? It's not a full-power rifle cartridge, so it wouldn't really be suitable for any long-range work. But it would look awful silly at a pistol range.

345 I always had a problem with "Black Lives Matter" as a slogan because it implies there is a significant group of people who DON'T think black lives matter. It's an explicit accusation of racism against anyone they protest, whether that person has exhibited proof of being racist or not.
