I have no problem with Barrett being a Catholic and against the death penalty; that is the Church's position. But because of that prejudicial belief, she doesn't need to be on the Supreme Court. Putting her at the top of his nominations list could be a nice head fake for Trump, though.

Sure it was covered ad nauseam in previous threads but Mitch can't deliver the traitors from AK and UT - I think people like Collins and Tillis would have to join because of their elections. It seems to me the best outcome to hope for is this is it forces Biden to name his names and the debate is now not optional in any way and they can't sidestep the red meat issues now. He has to defend the left and the middle will drift further away from him. As for creating enthusiasm, I think the Dems will try to use this, but Ruthie screwed us both - she died too late for Trump to be able to get this done and she died to early for LIVs to be ginned up - they don't have a 6 minute attention span let alone 6 weeks.

But other than that, sounds good to me! I was in the mood for boiled eggs as I haven't had them in quite a while. And my 'recipe' is no fail: Put eggs in a saucepan, cover with water and that splash of vinegar, put a lid on the pan and bring to a boil. Once boiling, turn off and let sit covered for 9 minutes (soft boiled) or 10-11 minutes (hard boiled). I've been watching the Tour de France and the announcers are obligated to mention Kovid at least 3 times an hour. Masks and social distancing are the bomb-diggity.

Okay, here is my official litany of cautious optimism.
Right now, almost every factor outside of twitter/social media madness indicates a solid Trump win. His approval number is at its highest yet, which indicates not only a solid EC win but the popular vote as well. Support like that moves things beyond the margin of fraud. In a statewide election, it's going to be hard to overcome a majority of 100,000 votes or more, which is what it's looking like. The Dems are clearly trying to simply blow up the vote with widespread and obvious fraud. That carries risks, however, because if it's too big, the vote will have no credibility. Because of the lag time there is plenty of time for a re-vote in affected states under federal supervision. Remember: Not every single marginal Democrat voter is willing to die for their candidate. The Dems act like each person who with confusion or reluctance checks their box has now pledged their life as a suicide bomber for Biden. It ain't so. The more the Dems wreck everything, the more reasonable and safe Trump looks. In the end RBG personified the corruption of SCOTUS from a branch of government to a political instrument. For all this talk of her contributions to the court, it is her inability to move beyond politics and into political activism that largely defines her. One needs to only look at her motives for staying on the court to understand intent. When one occupies a seat from which they cannot be removed solely for the sake of politics they've become a despot. It is demonstrative of the outsized power our courts have gained. That type of power accumulation from unelected jurists should worry every person who values liberty. It will be wielded by one side or another with reckless abandon and the target will always be us. Every one of us. Yet instead of fearing that power, many have fed and encouraged it. Damn every one of them and their faulty judgement. Because As a result upon each one of will fall the hammer of tyranny. The Left wants war over this and the general constitutional composition of our government. They want exactly what the anti federalists feared- and they shall stop at nothing to gain it. So be it. If you want war, then war it is and we will fight with blood lust to win. In the end we may all lose, look upon the battlefield at the carnage and decry our ignorance. But we go this route knowing fully where it ends, and that it was avoidable If reason prevailed.

McConnell will probably go through regular process, he seems to stick to that pretty much, and the nominee probably won't get out of committee before Nov 3rd, but Lisa will have to vote on it shortly after.
