+++++++++++++ Only sort of, WD. This isn't exactly what they're longing for. They are longing for an parallel universe Present where Trump didn't win. If Trump hadn't won, then the world would still be compatible with them and in some ways life would be better (assuming of course, that ignorance is indeed bliss): - The lockdowns and mask mandates would not have happened. There would have been little or no response, like with H1N1 - There would be no rioting or street violence, because the Right Group would still be in power - The cucks would still be in positions of moral authority - People would continue grinding themselves down into dust on the walls of corruption, largely without knowing why they keep failing - The bread and circuses would continue unabated - The SCOTUS would be a hard-left institution permanently thanks to three picks (one of which was neutral by replacing RBG) and the status quo would be unchanged. - There would likely be 1-2 new minor wars, which is what puts them in their element. They don't exactly long for the 90s again. They long for *today* in a different timeline. Posted by: Joe Mannix (Not a cop!) at September 21, 2020 11:11 AM (hYcqw) 79

Did I feel sad that DJT was the candidate who could defeat the FNM in 2016? Yes, yes I did. However Trump did not just win the election, he has done a huge amount to advance conservative goals.
I'd like to live in a world where a conservative candidate didn't need to have Trump's stage presence and outsize personality for the public to learn their views and make an informed choice but we don't have that world and 'conservative' columnists who only bemoan Trump's style instead of trying to do something about the FNM working for the commiecrats while pretending to be 'neutral' are part of the problem, not at all any kind of solution. Nationalism - like bilateralism - got a bad rap after the Great War. This is because the Great Thinkers of that age wildly misattributed causes.
Two-party deals weren't the problem, opacity was the problem. Rather than focusing on transparency, they focused on multilateral deals that were - and are - unworkable as they scale. Nationalism wasn't the problem, the lust for conquest and national expansion was the problem. Loving your country is a good thing. Wanting your country to do well is a good thing. Working for the betterment of your country is a good thing. A Frenchman *should* think that France is the bee's knees (unless he moves to a different country, of course). This is all good. But they slandered nationalism after WWI instead of slandering blood lust and conquest and again created a solution to the wrong problem and the solution doesn't work. Trump is president because the NT types were wrong. Flat out wrong.
Mitt Romney was the perfect technocrat. He actually got things done with the top down, command style that they like. He has no personal scandals, well beyond letting his staff loot foreign countries for personal benefit (seriously they all do it now). And yet he lost, badly, to president overseeing a 4 year recession. Romney politics will never work. And the sanctimoniousness of the then-fledgling Never Trumpers didn't help. Those professional losers accomplished the opposite of their goal with me. When the Kaiser or the Czar calls the shots (though it was complicated a bit for Germany) there is less feedback in your calculations on risk/reward Presume Germany wins WWI, it gets some French colonies, some Russian territory, and some sort of trade incentives at the expense of Britain in Europe. Then he ran for President and on the first day that I heard his platform I was good with that. Then all the other contenders denounced the major platform planks. That made me against them and for Trump's platform., Then Trump got elected. And I found that I kind of like the guy. I was a Cruz supporter right up until he blamed the violence at Trump rallies on Trump. This was an outright lie because ex-con Robert Creamer (aka Mr. Rep Jan Shackowski (D-mentia)) had been caught/quoted saying he was behind it some three weeks earlier and wasn't arrested (naturally.) Then I started seeing who was opposing Trump and noticed that it was the usual gang of leftarded idiots who were also against me for daring to oppose their anti-American, anti-Constitutional agendas. That's when I climbed aboard the Trump Train. I'm not getting off any time soon. He's done more for this country that any president I can recall, even Ronaldus Magnus, which is saying something. IMO, God is giving us a chance to return America to Him and His Values upon which she was founded. We cannot fuck this up. #PurgeProgressivism Posted by: BackwardsBoy - Joe Biden killed my career at September 21, 2020 11:25 AM (HaL55) Posted by: thathalfrican - The One at September 21, 2020 11:25 AM (raH/0) 206

Younger people can't appreciate how dominant the issue of Russia was prior to their collapse. (A big reason the Dems are still stuck on it, every year is 1972 to them) But worry and fear about conflict with the Russians was dominant everywhere for 40 years! You couldn't talk about any international issue without wondering how it impacted our seemingly eternal conflict with the Russians.
And then Reagan ended it. He ignored all the State Professionals who said it could never end, it could only be managed, and he ended it. now younger people today, who didn't live through that, seem at times to say "Okay, I know he solved the biggest most existential problem America had faced throughout the post-WW2 period; but how come he didn't fix everything?" Reagan's first term was truly epic. In his second term, his age started to show, plus he never recovered completely from getting shot. And the Deep State, headed by Bush, started to reassert control.
Even with all that, he still collapsed Russia and ended a 40 year long Cold War. The two men are so different - Trump is a tough fighter, Reagan was a wise father. The thing about National Review types is they really think they're on the cusp being back in "power." Trump will lose and everyone's going to be like, "Oh man, I guess the cucks were right, let's listen to what they have to say now that Trump is gone." But you'll notice they never really get around to explaining what they'll do once their fantasy comes true. If McCain had really loved his family, he would have spent his final days in Sedona with his family. 263 Excellent points regarding "populism" and "nationalism". The NRO crowd doesn't have the wherewithal to understand that these aren't necessarily pejoratives. Their use of the word "populist", especially, reminds me of the time when the media collectively discovered the word "gravitas" and then couldn't stop using it. I also remember them being rather nationalist back when Obama rejected the notion of American exceptionalism. Or they pretended to be, anyway, because that is what the grift required at the time.

Sigh, my company is talking about diversity and inclusion initiatives in our townhall meeting. How much more diversity do they want.
I partner with 2 other team leaders on the east coast. 2 of us are African. The other person is a white (Jewish) guy. In our collective team of about 15 people, there are *3* white (European heritage) people. Everyone else is Asian, South Asian or black. Among the 8 US team Leaders, 3 of us are black, 1 is Asian. I work closely with a gay colleague on a couple of my projects. Our division is very technical and math/programming heavy, so it's similarly diverse in the US. The less math-y division has more white folks, but it's still diverse. There are lots of women throughout the company. This all happened *organically*, so why do we need a diversity and inclusion push. The NeverTrumper problem imo, is based around "open borders and free trade". "Globalism" jazzed up the markets (with help from easy money policy, rates always going lower since the late 80's) ... so the Romney hedge funders loved it, and called it "capitalism", and claimed it would make the world free (as they sold our middle America).
Many of us went for the ride, and turned our pensions and futures over to these money changers. Now we see leveraged globalists got their gambling underwritten by our government, before we woke up, we were fighting wars and setting policy to keep markets juiced, and China was using their slavery and pollution profit margins to buy up the world. Now we see the supply chain problem, and the commie iron fist behind their "velvet glove" which is up the arse of half of DC. And our globalists are still in bed with these enemies, but other nations are uniting against the Red China Threat. Good Changes ahead, if we get beyond the election with a Trump win. When your political system can be thrown into hysteria by something as predictable as the death of an octogenarian with advanced cancer, theres something wrong with your political system. _____________ What's wrong is that the federal government has far too much power. The federal government was specifically designed to be a government of limited power. Instead, because the SCOTUS has rubber-stamped all its power grabs, the federal government is now a government of virtually unlimited power, including the power to print and spend unlimited amounts of money. If the Supreme Court had done its job properly and kept the federal government in check, we would not be in this situation today, where a single Supreme Court justice's death can wreak so much havoc. So ironically, it is the Supreme Court's failure to do its job properly that has allowed the Supreme Court to become so all-powerful.
