willowed, so repeated since peoples were whinin' about the topic -
Mask fans, note that just today, the buffoon CDC director quadrupled down on his idiocy, of course not producing any new evidence of any kind that masks are effective in preventing transmission of any influenza-like virus, such as C19. His own agency published a meta-study just in late May summarizing 70 years of research showing no benefit. There is very persuasive leak-based reporting that the WHO did its own volte face on masks based on .... nothing more than political pressure. The advisory experts had no evidence to change the standing recommendation that masks for the general populace were not advisable. According to the leaks, WHO changed their guidance anyway. Actual respirators, properly fitted and used, can prevent transmission - and are utterly impractical. And of course the entire discussion takes place within the false framework of trying to what's never been done (contain or control a highly infectious respiratory virus), vs. trying to limit the damage it can do (the proper approach). All this discussion of cookies, everyone seems to be talking about factory made things. I don't get it.
Cookies are baked at home... somebody's home. And the people who love us most generously apply the axiom, never too much chocolate. I have a relative who thinks they are the best baker in the world, and I beg to differ. They have a perspective which seems to be that one can never use too much sugar and/or butter. Sadly, many people do not know this is not true. You really really can put too much sugar and butter in things. But again, remember, never too much chocolate. heh, yesterday folks here were ragging on the paranoid folks wearing both masks and faceshields. Today I overheard a snippet on FNM while Dad was watching them about people who wear glasses are only 6% of covid cases but x% of the population.
Its almost like the CDC was more correct back when they were saying "just wash your hands and don't touch your face." I'm guessing glasses wearers like myself probably rub our eyes a bit less just due to trying to avoid having to clean the lenses constantly. I used to make shortbread cookies with 1 1/2 cups flour, two sticks of butter, 1/2 cup of sugar, and a pinch of salt. Roll into balls on a cookie sheet and press down into disks with the tines of a fork. Bake until the edges are golden. Done right they are buttery and basically crumble and then melt in your mouth.

My dear, long dead, mother was born and raised in Deutschland, and was a teenager when WW2 ended. She emigrated after the great hate, ended up in NYC, married my father, and raised a family.
Somewhere along the way she became a great cook and baker. Leading up to Christmas she would make countless dozens of cookies, which were placed in tins, and squirreled away for the feast. Her butter cookies were sublime, and her hazelnut macaroons exquisite. My siblings and I would lay waste, despite being forbidden. Invariably, we would be cookie-frei just before Nativity, so she'd bake some more. Good times. Posted by: eastofsuez at September 16, 2020 08:58 PM (U2zca) 453

A little more background from earlier about the two boy suspended indefinitely for carrying a thin red line flag and a thin blue line flag.
These two boys were INDEFINITELY SUSPENDED from their FOOTBALL TEAM because, as the SON of a FIREFIGHTER and the SON as a POLICEMAN, they carried these FLAGS on the field before a game to HONOR those who DIED in 9/11. Support both these boys and their choice to run with the thin blue line flag and thin red line flag!!! These two are the sons of a Sheriff and a firefighter, we played on 09/11/2020 (Patriot's Day) and they were supporting those that lost their lives protecting and serving on 09/11/2001. I am disappointed in the choice of Little Miami Local Schools and Little Miami Athletics to suspend these boys indefinitely from the football team! We have a "mandate" but I just walk into the liquor store and buy what I need. No mask. No real enforcement possible. Most stores just let you be now. I think it's time for All Good Men and Women to deliver an NBA/NFL-sized wake-up call to Fox, explaining to them the principle of Get Woke Go Broke. Its been time for years. What the hell do people keep watching Fox for?? Posted by: Christopher R Taylor at September 16, 2020 08:57 PM (KZzsI) ------------------------------- Familiarity bias. Fox was the conservative news channel. They internalized that Fox was the conservative news channel. Although it no longer is, their brains default to "Fox is the conservative news channel." Changing things like that takes a long, long, long time, and until a new conservative broadcast network shows up in a big way, or until streaming becomes the norm and networks like OANN can draw general viewership, it will stay that way. Every show on Fox could be hosted by Peter Strzok, Al Sharpton and a random 350-pound antifa tranny, and the viewership would still watch it, because Fox is the conservative news channel. I do concur with the moron who holds that peanut butter cookies are best when things are added, like chocolate chips. It makes a great crunchy pickle. Haven't had it fried, but I can imagine it being great. And it's a superb thickener for gumbo. The only thing wrong with it is that if you cook it in between its early stage of deliciousness, and its late, falling-apart, thickener stage, it's incredibly gross and part of it goes down your throat while another part stays in your mouth. Cornbread, collard greens, fried fish and hushpuppies, cornbread, fried green tomatoes, fried chicken, cornbread in a glass of buttermilk for dessert...fine eatin'!
Posted by: BackwardsBoy - Joe Biden killed my career at September 16, 2020 09:45 PM (HaL55) All good! Well. Except the buttermilk. But I've used that in very good salad dressings. Posted by: Diogenes at September 16, 2020 09:48 PM (axyOa) 689
Naturally, back home in Alabama okra was always fried in cornbread batter until pretty crispy. When the "soul food" craze hit way back when, we wondered what all the fuss was about. We always ate that way and didn't think anything of it. - Yeah, all the non-racists honestly believe Southern cooking tastes better when it's made by a magical black person. Hoecake in buttermilk. Et with a spoon, cause we gots standards.
Hoecake is fried cornmeal, with salt and a wee bit of water to make it sizzle. Bacon grease is the preferred medium. Posted by: MarkY at September 16, 2020 09:49 PM (N8i9I) 696
