Morning Rant - Special Guest Ranter [Weasel]

monkey 2 scaled.jpg

With distance comes perspective, and when you are too close to a situation it's often difficult to understand how bad it really is. This is especially true when you have arrived at your current position slowly and incrementally, only to suddenly realize you have a problem. That is the sociopolitical landscape in which we stand today. To borrow a quote from Hemingway; "How do you go bankrupt? Gradually and then suddenly." Gone today and perhaps forever is anything even remotely resembling polite discourse, and we find ourselves in a stark black and white world, with precious little gray in between. One side is openly seditious and has adopted a manifesto of rebellion, insurrection and destruction. That side plays for keeps. The other side, our side, unfortunately, acts as though the old rules still apply, and that somehow magically with hope and good intentions the old order will be restored.

To understand the depth of our predicament, one has to look no further than our excitement when from nowhere, a figure emerges, political or otherwise, who fights for what we believe in. Someone who calls it like it is, and who shares our sense of right, wrong, and the rule of law. Someone who is willing to go toe-to-toe against overwhelming odds, and who has put aside personal considerations because it's the right thing to do. The fact that these individuals are now so uncommon tells you all you need to know regarding the scale of our problem. These people should be the rule rather than the exception. The reality is our side is largely comprised of weak, career-minded political operatives whose commitment to fundamentals lasts no longer than the next election, and whose core principle is self-enrichment.

This is where we stand today. This is our predicament, and anyone not understanding the seriousness of it has not been paying attention and needs to quickly gain the needed perspective.

Posted by: Widespread Pepe at September 16, 2020 11:07 AM (n4scg)

37 The concept of "Woke" is not a bad one, and would be good for "our side" to adopt it.

Because the answer is not to get better political leadership, the answer is to be more engaged and better informed citizenry. For if we do, the people will look at what passes for leadership, reject it completely, and replace it with a (at least temporarily) better set of leaders.

Which really is doable.

It will force a realignment, and some on "our side" won't much like the new folks on "our side," but I'm ok with that. If you can't, for example, accept gay conservatives, then I'm quite alright with you taking a powder and vacating your place at the table.

60 There's nothing new or magical about our predicament.

It's the normal state of affairs. It's the M.O. of all humanity.

We've never been perfect, but we've always been a damn sight better than everything else until now.

All that has happened is that we've forgotten what it is that makes America exceptional. Our insistence on at least the appearance of decency and fair play.

Couple that in with this faux post modern worldview that jettisons objective reality for thought experiments and narratives, and you get to right where we are now.

Maybe it will pass, maybe we're boned. Who knows.

That's really the core of it. Until we start undoing the demoralization - like by reforming the entire education system and the bureaucracy - our fate will rest on the ability to find a handful of good men willing to storm the gates of hell.

We can't go on like this. We will run out of good men, unless we start teaching and rewarding virtue again, thus replenishing the supply.

91 People in fear of flash mobs this summer around here came to national attention.

Local school suspended two players from playing for carrying police and fire support flags onto the football field on September 11. They were not given the okay, but were also not told no. They remained ambiguous due to ongoing threats from TiikTok BLM freaks over the summer. A lie told by a former student travelled the globe before the truth got out of bed. Imagine that. Dumbass seems to be okay with inviting insurrectionists to our community.

I hope the spotlight and show of support will squash any such plans for that.

The concept that the statement black lives matter is wholly accepted while the violent Marxist group sharing that phrase as their movement name will be fought tooth and nail should be easy to explain and pacify. But it is not.

111 "when you are too close to a situation it's often difficult to understand how bad it really is."

From my experience, it is possible to be right at the HQ of Big Fraud, and be blind to it. The really corrupt people seem normal, maybe even nicer than the average Joe. Even mafia guys can be pretty decent fellows to be around (I'm told), as long as you aren't involved in exposing their crimes ... then you get Seth Riched.

But walking past Strzok or Mueller in the hall every day, or other plotters in the coup ... it might be disarming, they may even be charming. It makes "normalcy bias" much stronger for the DC denizens, than for those of us outside the beltway, for example. Cruz's "DC Cartel" verbiage sells better in the Hinterlands than right in DC, where the money flows freely down Gucci Gulch.

The whole bureaucracy wants to (jealously) protect itself, it is a natural instinct, to some degree like the wife protecting the abusive cheating husband, perhaps. Or a version of Stockhold syndrome, perhaps ... DC held captive, bureaucrats defending corrupt Hillary/Obama to the very end.

It seems like we are going back in time to the early part of our country where politics were almost like a war with the attacks on the character of the politician and his supporters.
Sometimes I think it is a good thing. But when violence becomes part of the political landscape like what the Dems/Libs/Commies have currently unleashed then it has gone to far.

149 The Founders understood corruption is the rule rather than the exception.

Thus the checks and balances written into the Constitution.

Unfortunately, corruption never sleeps.

IMO, our Founders were students of human nature, particularly the worst aspects. They knew that politics attracts the worst types of people: control freaks. Which is why the designed our government to be small and weak when it comes to personal freedom. They wanted a government with big red lines past which it was not to go.
It worked for a long time. But now, because good men did nothing to stop it, the control freaks have taken over one political party in a long and concerted effort to destroy America from within. This latest effort in the guise of "health safety" is nothing more than tyranny and needs to be stopped today. Flu season is over and we need to get back to normal ASAP.

As concerns the riots, if the prog-left wants a war on November 4 after Sundown Joe loses, we need to bring them one in no uncertain terms. It will be sad, but we have the God-given right to defend ourselves and our country from aggressors. Never forget that the Democrats started this and us Normals need to finish it or else we'll regret not doing so. If we don't impose our will upon our domestic enemies, they'll impose their will on us.

We cannot allow that to happen for any reason. There's only one way to be free of the Leftard Terminators.

Ah. One of the many things I hate about our current culture is that rage is not just acceptable, it is encouraged. If you scream louder it means you're just more passionate. Online, it's thinking you win an argument by going all-caps and repeating the same sentence 10x, such as "TRANSMEN ARE WOMEN."

This is childish, and condescending (i.e. if I shout it slowly you dunderheads might get my brilliant argument!). It is not sassy, smart 'n just the right of cynical.

That chick looks like a pill. She's likely not happy unless she's giving you her running, snarky commentary of how f'd up the world is according to her special brand of woke and enlightened. Get off my lawn, babe.

Fun fact: IBM generally considered the Selectric and its successor (the Selectric II) to be the perfect typing experience. In the computer era, they engineered the extremely convoluted "buckling spring" keyboard actuating mechanism (their legendary Model M keyboard) to be the closest they could approach to Selectric typing action on an electronic keyboard that could also be effectively mass-produced.

I typed my doctoral thesis on the IBM Selectric of our research group's admin assistant during the off hours. 224 201 Biden did a recent interview with some broad from the NEA labor union. Naturally he railed against charter schools and bleated "When I'm President, they not get one penny of Federal funding!".

Well of course not. Why fund charter schools that out-perform public schools, are a blessing to minority students, and gives parents a choice? Gasbag.

252 How did we get here? Some are the result of just plain bad parenting. When "Kat" Patterson was arrested in Lancaster, accused of felony riot, property destruction and other crimes, her father called the bail requirement "obscene". Presumably he thought the Portland approach would be followed in Lancaster and his daughter would be freed instantly and at zero expense, charges dropped. Bad thinking, but - worse - a terrible expectation to have communicated to your daughter. Chip Patterson is irresponsible and a bad example.

Chip Patterson, the girl's father, teaches English and is a dorm supervisor at the expensive private prep school Mercersburg Academy. He and his wife raised three children and supervise a dorm full of other people's children. But he thinks his daughter should be free to travel 100 miles east to burn Lancaster, Pa without penalty. What's ironic though is that he used to work as a PR representative for the San Bernardino Sheriff's Dept., so he presumably should know better.

Brit Royalty went beyond "mercantilism" in protecting their East India Tea Company ... but I don't know if the company was more powerful, were they? Mercantilism is where we are now, with Trump saying America First ... but we don't force other nations to buy our tea. (winning some nations to our western Liberty side, versus China's communism, is the current challenge, globalists still in bed with China's side?)

In any case, I think the Brit Tea company corruption pales in comparison to the globalists and corporate powers of today. We now have our currency used to prop up conglomerates, and BigTech monopolies being used as weapons against the sovereignty of the individual ... and the richest being held above our laws, even as they fund a coup and "war" in our streets.

8/6 - Jordan61 asks for prayers for Mom, who is in remission from multiple myeloma, and she is having a bone biopsy on Wednesday, 8/12, to make sure it isn't returning. (She's had some red flags in her routine bloodwork.) Prayers for a negative result and continuing remission.
8/20 Update - Mom's biopsy was negative! Thanks to the Horde for your prayers.

My wife's aunt passed from multiple myeloma. A local firefighter that started a charity (michaelsmemories.org) had it and died last year.

Prayer and belief is an AMAZING thing.

300 The conservative movement has to be built from the ground up.

If conservatives don't control the school board and city council, they'll never control D.C.

To think a team can when they championship without first having capable, well-disciplined players each performing their task is a denial of reality.
Posted by: Bitter Clinger at September 16, 2020 11:40 AM (rFYU2)

Point of order. We're not conservatives anymore. You have to hold ground to protect it. You have to have something to conserve it.

We lost the cultural headwaters.

Politics is downstream of culture, and culture is downstream of philosophy.

We need to break the Left's stranglehold on both education and entertainment. We need to change the status quo, not preserve it.

We are a reform movement. Conservatism is obsolete. It's not the right tool for this job. It's like trying to fight WWII with Napoleonic tactics.

You need capable and well-disciplined players, and you also need an up-to-date playbook.

Hezbollah took over all important functions from the Lebanese government years ago. Which is why nobody touched their stash of ammonium nitrate, which finally blew up and destroyed a huge chunk of Beirut. Now Lebanon has had no government at all in over a month, and is spiraling down into the same chaos as post-Ghaddafi Libya. Posted by: illiniwek at September 16, 2020 11:48 AM (Cus5s)

If you work to understand the times, Deep State IS what the Crown was. Ever since 1688, the British Monarch has been little more than a figurehead for the Parliamentary leaders who run all governmental offices.

The British East India Company was a very clever way to create an off-the-books army which could be run for Profit without having to answer to any of the normal restrictions that were placed on the official government. The sign of having really "Made it" in British high society was when you could gain a small ownership share in it. It was used to enrich every British parliamentary and military leader for over 100 years.

374 Late to thread, but thanks Weasel you nailed it when you wrote --

This is our predicament, and anyone not understanding the seriousness of it has not been paying attention and needs to quickly gain the needed perspective.

I think that's the main thing dividing those who "get it" and the NT'er types, and it's been that way since at least 2015. I was skeptical about DJT but at least I grasped the gravity of the situation our system was in, so there was never any doubt I would vote for him.

375 I hear the Orange one is runnin low on money. Best for his sacred followers to contribute more, as God ain't gonna help him.

So the Left is basically saying the office is auctioned off to the highest bidder. That absent conscience, its purely a financial transaction - not about policies, ideology, skill or vision but about money thrown at consultants and marketing.

May explain why Bloomberg is the Demonic Party presidential candidate.

380 I just learned from an EXTREMELY reliable and unbiased source that Trump has run out of money, so I just donated to him again. Im so glad to get the heads up here-I had no idea!

I guess Trump has been so busy brokering peace in the Middle East and getting our economy going again and helping blue cities and states try to end the dems own violence and riots that he forgot to fund raise.

Men!

(Captain) Villanueva was the only one of the Steeler's to come out for the National Anthem in a game last year, because the coach of the Steelers, Mike Tomlin, held them all in the locker room. Afterwards, Villanueva got denounced by his teammates. Nice.

Yes, the NFL is full of crock of shit people; coaches, owners, the commissioner.

394 231 >>It's intriguing how Christians are constantly left out of the Muslim-Jewish equation in the ME.

Depends on how you look at it: Trump is making sure a lot of
Christian Americans will no longer bleed and die fighting the wars
between the Jews and Arabs in the ME.

Posted by: Lizzy at September 16, 2020 11:36 AM (bDqIh)

This. And it's driving the Deep State tools, whose own sons and daughters aren't serving, crazy.

Posted by: Jane D'oh at September 16, 2020 11:38 AM (ptqGC)

Those are fair and valid points as a way to look at it.

. I'd still like to see Christians get a fair shake in a region where they have just as much history and influence the last 2000 years than Muslims. Like building churches and not persecution of Christians should have been in this ME deal if America had anything to do with it and had our full blessing.
Hell, tie all foreign aid to every ME country to protect Christian and Christianity in the ME along with its history, churches, and people.

This never would have occurred without the last 19 years of war in the ME. And both sides of the deal know it.

Can we please not us "executed" when we have a perfectly good word, "murdered" that accurately describes this killing? "Executed" should be reserved for those (sadly all too rare anymore) instances, when the perps of these murders have been strapped into a wooden chair, and 3500 volts at 40 amps sent coursing through their festering brains.
