At the direction of President Trump, the White House Office of Management and Budget will move to identify and eliminate any trace of critical race theory in the federal government.
Critical race theory is the leftist, racist doctrine that forms the intellectual underpinnings of Black Lives Matter, Antifa, and other radical organizations currently engaged in unrest on Americas streets. Best News in a long time. Posted by: Nevergiveup at September 05, 2020 08:54 AM (85Gof) 13

So, Labor Day weekend and nothing from Durham, etc. I didn't expect it. At least I'm not emotionally invested in all of that anymore, if they can get something together by next spring, well fine, and if not, them's the breaks.
When I cared about all that was when I thought Trump needed it to be re-elected, as I thought they would be able to drag him down with all the allegations and noise they had been making but Now - Now the election is about other things entirely, and the Dems are blowing it, like they blew it in Rochester last night. All I care about is this election - if we lose, all is lost, but if we win, all things good are Possible, and our enemies will be confounded. Maybe Durham and Barr will get some things together by next spring, whatever. Posted by: Tom Servo at September 05, 2020 09:03 AM (V2Yro) 51

Election facts and why there needs to be a concerted effort in purple states to GOTV: there are 246 Electoral College votes in States w Republican Secretaries of State and AGs (all but KY and MT have Republican Governors and PDT won all but NH [4] in 2016.) Two states he won, WI (10) and MI (16), are now Democrat controlled. The disparity in EC gives Democrats a major edge in the EC, if they refuse to certify election results. So, even if you are confident of a PDT win, please help GOTV. If all the Democrat governors cheat, they win the EC, because they control 292 EC votes and it takes 270 to win.

Good morning hordelings. Posted by my daughter on Facebook this morning, with a whole series of stats on domestic violence and abuse:
"Maybe we should put more media attention on the problem of domestic violence and sexual assault than making the perpetrators heroes. Let's stop the silencing of the REAL victims' voices. and end the glorification of those who commit these crimes." One such stat: Everyday, on average, three women are killed by a partner or ex-partner. This was the trajectory for Jacob Blake's attack. Stop glorifying it. The sign-up link (https://mimome.stoatnet.org) is in the sidebar on the front page and in my nick; theres's also an e-mail link in the sidebar what will put you in touch with Eric Stratton, Rush Chairman. Snuggled comfortably in between the NoVA and TX events, this will be a low-key, laid-back, high-speed, low-drag afternoon event. We're not promising lavish venues or cabrito or anything, but you're welcome to come even if you're from another state, and even if that state is Ohio. Unfortunately, Obergruppenfuhrer Whitmer has deemed our drone target vendor as "non-essential", so the Bofors Gun Team Building exercise has been cancelled. Best News in a long time. Yes! Also this continued effort to decouple from China, including the continued arrest of Chinese agents stealing intel, aiding domestic insurrectionists, and this: According to an Aug. 27 White House Office of Management and Budget (OMB) document seen by Reuters, the OMB directed U.S. agencies to submit "cross-cutting data on federal funding that aids or supports China, or that directly or indirectly counters China's unfair competition and malign activities and influence globally." The document, titled "Strategic Competition with China Crosscut," does not say how the information will be used other than that it will "inform policymakers" of the myriad ways U.S. government spending involves China. . . The sweeping budget data request will be used to help policymakers and notes all funding should "reflect strategic priorities" when responding to China. Best News in a long time. _____________ And long overdue. This racist, divisive, pseudo-intellectual bullshit has no place in our society, and it certainly has no place in our government or in our schools. It is utter garbage that never should have been allowed to pollute our discourse. Posted by: TrivialPursuer at September 05, 2020 09:41 AM (k4dH2) 181

129 On the ONT, I mentioned that I'm listening to a local station that runs Casey Kasem's "American Top 40" on Saturday mornings. Today is from September 1981, a very good time in my life. Funny how we remember the songs from the top 10 or 20 from a given week -- they get played on oldies stations -- but the songs that debuted at no. 40 and peaked at no. 27 are forgotten.
Posted by: Wolfus Aurelius at September 05, 2020 09:23 AM (rpbg1) you're right, takes me back. How quaint now to remember that there was such a thing as a "Top 40" that most everyone knew about? I looked up todays just for grins, and I was only vaguely aware of one of the people listed (Taylor Swift) and had never heard of any of the songs, nor will I ever. Like so much of pop culture, making that list now is just a meaningless exercise carried out because it meant something 40 and 50 years ago. It was a good window into how pop music has died completely. I think we're back to just local performers with small numbers of personal friends and acquaintances who follow them, virtually and in RL when possible. That's what pop music was before the 20th century, we're reverting to the norm. Posted by: Tom Servo at September 05, 2020 09:49 AM (V2Yro) 198

--------------------------------------------------------------------- I argue with people all the time about this. They talk about how many # 1's Taylor Swift or Drake has--"MOAR THAN THE BEATLES!'--but they fail to realize that unlike The Beatles, no one knows any of their songs. Back in the mid-60's, even old farts knew a couple of Beatles tunes and could probably name all four members of the band. They also knew who Mick Jagger and Bob Dylan were. That's the big difference today. Posted by: JoeF. at September 05, 2020 09:58 AM (7ixfo) 226

Very nice. Posted by: Ben Had at September 05, 2020 08:59 AM (CKxoR) I've done this a few times. The "putting cocoa mix in coffee" thing, not the "mentioning it here". We used to get the Starbuck's "Extra Burned" blend at the office; I was not drinking that without cream and sugar. But on occasion, I'd get myself a big mug of it and then find that, "Oh. We're out of sugar." At those times, I'd just grab a pack of the Swiss Miss cocoa mix that they also provided for employees and pour that in. It was okay; I think it would've been better with a different blend of coffee. Later on, we switched to milder coffee blends, and I started drinking my coffee black, anyway, while I was getting some dental work done. Posted by: Tom Servo at September 05, 2020 10:00 AM (V2Yro) Tom, while my loathing for McCain is only slightly less than yours, I do have a question about this. If he was as central to all of this as you assert, how come none of the other Senators threw him under the bus, and how did he get out of that relatively unscathed? I don't think that he was Maverick back then, so I can't imagine that he had this repository of MSM goodwill to draw upon to help him out. Visiting my 95-year-old grandma in IL this weekend,
found out she still watches Fox News and already has Sean Hannity's latest book. She was happy to hear about all the Trump signs we passed... in Illinois! She probably would have started arguing with the garbage "news" program on the TV in the hotel breakfast room if she'd been with us this morning. https://bit.ly/2ZbseND Posted by: Anonosaurus Wrecks, Tyrannosaur Wrangler at September 05, 2020 10:06 AM (+y/Ru) The author of that piece noticed that Melania's outfit during her address was quite serious and absolutely had a military theme - but she got the origin completely wrong. She probably knows this, which is why she used black and white Photo's to make her comparisons. Leni's outfit back in the day was undoubtedly a light gray, as that was standard German dress uniform color of the time. (SS wore black) Melania, on the other hand, wore Olive Drab, which together with the double leather belt (rich brown) looks to be based on the standard British Officer's dress uniform from the 30's and 40's. It was extremely appropriate for the times, and for the seriousness of her address. Although I can't find a photo at the moment, I'm quite sure that the female members of the British Royal Family would have worn something similar during that war. That's the look Melania was going for, and achieved. Posted by: Tom Servo at September 05, 2020 10:17 AM (V2Yro) 299

Hot and smoky in the center of WA.
75,000 acre brush fire south of me. Tough terrain and not many roads to get to the fire. Lots of air action overhead but no real heavy tankers. I was going to head east for a couple of days but even though the closest fire spot is about five miles away wind forecasts are all over the place. NWS says 25-35 from the NW, fire crews say 25-35 from the east. It'll make a difference in sticking around or not. I doubt I'll have to evacuate but it is nervous making. Excellent article explaining Color Revolutions and how the media and deep state operatives are conducting one in the U.S. right now:
https://preview.tinyurl.com/Color-Revolution "A 'Color Revolution' in this context refers to a specific type of coordinated attack that the United States government has been known to deploy against foreign regimes, particularly in Eastern Europe deemed to be 'authoritarian' and hostile to American interests. Rather than using a direct military intervention to effect regime change as in Iraq, Color Revolutions attack a foreign regime by contesting its electoral legitimacy, organizing mass protests and acts of civil disobedience, and leveraging media contacts to ensure favorable coverage to their agenda in the Western press." I mean, they would be doing this if they weren't in any legal danger at all, too, wouldn't they? My point is that they are not acting any differently than they would otherwise. So, what's the new target for timing on the next shoe? Two weeks or thereabouts? I guess it all depends on your perspective. To you, they seem carefree and just speaking truth to power. To me, they seem scared to death and all of them are attacking at once. I'm not sure if you got the reference from the @shipwreckedcrew tweet but Mueller's team, likely Andrew Weissmann, recreated the Wood's File for the Carter Page FISA warrant after the fact and somehow the original has disappeared, something that is not supposed to even be possible. The Senate was just briefed on this last week. What has become apparent is one of the reasons for the length of the investigation is that evidence was hidden, altered or destroyed. Just like in the Flynn case where USA Jensen only found the exculpatory evidence a couple months ago because the Mueller team hid it. This is a big problem. @shipwreckedcrew Riddle Me This: Kevin Clinesmith eats a "False Writing" charge for adding 4 words to an email not in the original and not telling anyone he did so. What is the consequence for "recreating" an entire file of docs that were "missing", and not telling anyone you did so? Andrew? Posted by: JackStraw at September 05, 2020 10:50 AM (ZLI7S) 403

Posted by: JackStraw at September 05, 2020 11:07 AM (ZLI7S) --- Yes, and they're going to howl "political prosecution!!!" when they get charged. This is why the investigation is taking so damn long. Barr can't pull a Mueller-style b.s. indictment by news release thing. He has to get the good and make it stick. Clinesmith's plea seems to have driven Weissman around the bend. Also interesting that they're rushing out some Comey hagiography because he's clearly going down. Posted by: Ace-Endorsed Author A.H. Lloyd at September 05, 2020 11:14 AM (cfSRQ) 478

I read some background this week on what is actually going on with the Stars and Stripes contretemps - looks like it's actually just another episode of Politics as Usual in DC.
Congress supposed to be passing a Military Appropriations bill which was approved by committee in July. Pelosi and Schumer are trying to throw some typical shit into it like they always do, Trump and the Senate Leadership say no way, just pass the damn bill like we agreed to already. Money for this fiscal year is running out, of course that is all fixed if Congress just does what they already said. So, Stars and Stripes is popular on the left, especially with some of Nancy's house caucus. So Esper comes out and says "okay we're out of money, we're canceling S & S." they all howl, Esper says "nope you won't give us money, S&S goes first." So I'm not sure where the big negotiations are, but that's why Trump just jumped in and said "okay we're keeping S&S." Looks to me like he and Esper are just running a good cop, bad cop scene. I am acquainted with a young woman who worked on
Hillary's campaign but didn't vote for Hillary. The break came after Chelsea came to Michigan and delivered a speech to the workers. Imagine being an unpaid volunteer and listening to a rich woman with absolutely no concept of what it's like to depend on a paycheck. Posted by: NaughtyPine at September 05, 2020 11:07 AM (/+bwe) That is exactly her problem. She and everyone else knows she's living the life she's living because of her parents and it's obvious the latter are trying to set her up to be financially secure after they die. Once they do, she's going to be a nobody. Personally, while there are plenty of people who think she should run for Congress, I don't think she's cut out for the job. And I believe she'd hate it. @418 You know, a lot of people claiming to be atheist and agnostic turned that way because they ran into all the collectivists and communists in the churches.
