Sexual rebellion remained a political tool of the counterculture straight on through the 20th century. The free-love movement of the ‘60s challenged the purportedly constraining norms that encouraged premarital abstinence, monogamy, marriage, and reproductive sex. The transgressive performances on display in gay pride events represented an acknowledgement and parodic embrace of the non-normative culture of the LGBT community. However, it’s important to note that the genuinely transgressive character of both the free love and the gay pride movements was in effect evidence that the traditionally conservative norms for sex in America remained firmly in place.And that's exactly why traditional sexual relationships are the primary target of the progressive left. They have co-opted education, and they are now busily destroying the structure and character of the American family. And they have a successful template in Black America, courtesy of "The Great Society" and LBJ and the rest of the racist Democrats of the 1960s. They insinuated government between Black America, the church and tradition, and in the process created a dependent subculture and a viciously dysfunctional underclass. If one planned to destroy Black America, would one have done anything differently? And now they are using the same tools to complete the destruction of the larger American society.

Ronna McDaniel has been an early and absolutely loyal supporter of Trump from the first day of his 2016 campaign. She is the granddaughter of George Romney, former Gov. of Michigan and both her mother and her grandmother ran for Congressional seats when she was a youngster which she says inspired her interest in politics. She worked for several media production companies as a business manager, she has a degree from Brigham Young.
She became the head of the Michigan Republican Party after working in Mitt's campaign , and worked hard to get Trump elected. She cleaned house in MIchigan to remove party officials who were never Trumpers.
After Trumps election is when she was chosen by Trump and then elected to head the RNC after Priebus "left". She's been a pretty staunch conservative, calling out Amash and especially all the Russia hoax participants.

The process started before WWII with industrialization in the late 19th and early 20th century (the WWI government was a prototype). Republics of the sort we had do best with a bunch of small land-holder farming types(profession and living area tends to have a large impact on worldview).

I agree with you. I think the perp's connection to black leaders was the thing that made him think he could just ignore what the police were ordering him to do. That's the crucial moment where this all went south, the one bad decision that fixed everything that came after. In fairness, the "fiscally responsible voter" is just as bad. they want budget cuts - but not the ones that cut things they like. See, e.g., the "conservative" midwest and corn subsidies.
Look at everyone when anyone talks about reforming SS. Even conservatives say things like "I paid for it, it's not an entitlement". Well, not really. the money you paid in is not remotely enough to fund the amount you will be paid out - that is why it is a ponzi scheme - your payout has to be funded by new "investors". Yes, perhaps if the gov't had invested the SS taxes you paid in - perhaps then the amount you paid in would fund what is going to be paid out (or even more in some cases). But, that isn't what happened and everyone knew that wasn't happening.
If we didn't have voters that want to protect the trough they are eating from, we'd get politicians willing to cut spending.

An interesting dynamic is occurring at the Portland riots - of about 300 rioters present, about 50 claim to be members of "the press" - they wear helmets and clothing identifying themselves as members of the press. Although members of the "press" have occasionally been caught throwing things at the cops and providing riot support vehicles, their main function is to serve as the media wing of Antifa. All but a tiny handful of these "press" people are 100% pro-Antifa - identifiable press people who aren't pro-Antifa tend to get assaulted by the mob.
My question is: exactly when did we create a caste of people who can ignore police orders in the middle of a riot? I missed the part of the First Amendment that states that press people have rights and privileges that ordinary US citizens don't have.
An Obama Federal judge in Portland has ordered the cops not to bother the "press" people. For a while, he was toying with the idea of having the ACLU certify who was and was not a legitimate member of the press, but it apparently dawned on him that he would be reversed quickly if he named a pro-Antifa organization to vet press people.

Or the one that has been posted quite a bit, the troopers pull over the guy, as they try to cuff him, he stiffens, resists, starts tussling, then they taze him. He falls to the ground, gets back up. One of the cops is trying to beat the snot out of him, and the other is trying to cuff him. He grabs the cuffer's gun, shoots BOTH cops, I believe. He's hit by rounds in the process, and still manages to drive away.
Later goes to a hospital, and the legal system gets involved.
Sometimes it's a wonder to me that cops aren't shooting substantially MORE people in these situations.

After the first night's violence, it was obvious that attempts would be made to trash downtown Kenosha the second night, and that people would be coming down from Milwaukee and up from Chicago to riot.
You'd think he would have spent all day with the police chief coming up with a plan for the upcoming riots and figuring out how to deploy the city cops in the evening, coordinating with the county sheriff, asking adjacent county sheriffs for aid, and leaning on the governor to get the National Guard into Kenosha in the afternoon (rather than late in the evening, as happened).
Instead, the cops were completely caught flatfooted - they obviously had a plan to protect the courthouse, and no plan to protect downtown.
Complete incompetence. Oh, I forgot - the mayor is a Democrat, isn't he?

How about nursing homes? Their activities staff, their dietary staff, LNA's etc. are often high school students, college students, those in early 20s. I know a guy who was hit 15 times and lived. He says he was in the wrong place (he knew he was), and they rolled up on him. He got as low as he could, below the steering wheel, rounds were pinging in through the glass, through the metal, and directly into his body when they got close enough.
Needless to say it took a while to recover.
Another guy I knew got hit 8 times. He knows exactly who fired what. They were family members.

Arrests are legal, and we have media and the left teaching radicals that cops can't arrest, as if that is illegal, they are all racists, illegitimate (and even protecting your own home is illegal.)

We were not anywhere near the campus where it's required, and she was not anywhere near me or anybody else. But she's got the damn mask on.

Same here (except the female part). The mask goes on as I'm going in the door, comes off when I'm leaving.
I don't want to be hassled. Not because I'm afraid what they might do to me, but I'm afraid what I might do to them.
Occasionally I see shoppers, men and women, with no masks on. I quietly nod "you go, dude" as I walk past. Not going to get into that either, if someone gives them shite, I might intervene, and I might not.

Between my wife and I have paid in about $700k to SS. Invested in New Perspective fund or American Funds Balance it paid 28% and 24% last year. Getting that extra $160k a year to spend or reinvest sure would be nice!

I think a lot of compliance is just to make life easier. That being said, I am a lot crankier and more likely to bitch about anything with a mask on. So really, it's not a good thing for me.

I don't think the mayor is crazy. Befuddled and over his head probably comes closer. No clue as to the city council, I've only been here a month and don't know who's who outside the mayor. I do know that Evers is a stupid stupid very bad man who really botched this, probably on purpose.

A "sources say" story can be evaluated, like most things, in terms of its plausibility and relation to known facts - this one is very credible.
Seven decades of randomized clinical trials and a century of observational experience have yielded no evidence of significant benefit in limiting transmission of viral disease from masks, apart from actual respirators properly fitted and used, in a clinical setting (not comparable to normal/real life).
Pre-scientific, medieval, and totalitarian is a bad look for 2020.
Oh - and the poorly informed/smug/arrogant element - your average NPR listener and a stunning number of actual medical and "scientific" people - really don't want to know about surgical masks in clinical settings, and what they have been shown to do/not do.

If the purpose of masks is to catch spittle etc. then a wedding veil or mosquito net would be more than enough material to do the job.
Particulate filter etc. is clearly not the purpose.
If it was to protect the user from a virus then we would all be dressed in moon suits with supplied air.

I've been doing my best to avoid the mask. Unfortunately I've had a couple of times where I couldn't avoid it, like accompanying my kid to a medical appointment. *sigh*

WSJ, and I think now NYT, with stories about "new" doubts about lockdowns. New = considered, settled doctrine on the subject, for decades, long since enshrined in basic guidance by all the major public health organizations.
Sweden was going by the book. *Everyone else* was the radical experiment - and it was questioned from the outset by well qualified observers. Speaking of which, chief UK epidemiologist pathetically admitted lockdown was a panic move not based on any new or particular scientific rationale, but simply something that could be done. "Do something!"

I wear it in stores if they want me to. It's a small imposition. I'm a concealed carrier, so I deliberately avoid situations likely to piss people off.

I saw that video a few days ago. It looks like the guy shot from his side of the car and hit both cops. Both went down, one was able to climb over a guard rail to get away after being shot.
I searched around to try to find out the final outcome under searches such as "two police officers shot", etc. but surprise, surprise, all I could find were links to the Kenosha shooting, pretty much all politically slaned to the left.

Though I approach it a bit differently.
Most places at the moment are doing curbside service, so I make it a small imposition on the business to come outside for my business.
If a business doesn't want me inside because they believe me to be a diseased cockroach or rodent, I completely understand. I just have them come outside.
