Are We Living In A Post Constitutional World? I got in a discussion with a friend over this the other day. He's a Republican, and he is a conservative, but because of that he's a Never Trumper.We can usually have good discussions, although this one ended when he accused Trump of “hedonism, hate and idiocracy”. This is meaningless knee jerk boilerplate, no different than someone on the Left reflexively screaming “Racism! Sexism! Bigotry!” so I just dropped the conversation, but before it ended I argued that we are.
The GOP hasn't been about conservatism for at least a generation. It's been about preserving the wealth and power of GOP politicians. Conservatism (meaning Constitutionalism) is, if not dead, utterly without influence or power in this country. It's about generations of people who utterly discredited "conservatism" by failing to practice it while loudly proclaiming themselves its champions. Now that their failure has resulted in the death of their movement, they're doing their best Marley impersonation while shaking the chains of their failure. If my name was Adorno, I'd say that Trump is the antithesis portion of the dialectic. The thesis ain't coming back, the question is what form will the synthesis take? We're in a post constitutional world. The donks subverted it, the GOP let them, and now the only question is what next? Either the full on Marxism of the left, or someone who, even if he's not a constitutionalist, at least embraces the traditional society and culture that it created.So what are your thoughts? I'm a classical liberal, I'd much prefer a nation guided by the principles enshrined in the Constitution because I know that produces the freeist, happiest, most productive society. Oh. I hate to say this but they jump. I once had one up near the ceiling - not too big - that had apparently spotted that I was coming for it.
It went up and around an outward-facing corner in what looked like an erratic way. Then it was still. I continued making my way towards it.
Not five seconds later it jumps one way and swings back the other like fucking Spiderman right the shit around the corner while descending eight feet or more into a stairwell. It was amazing, intense, weird, awe-inspiring and creepy all at once. Never saw it again.

I didn't even have an opinion on Flynn, Popadopalous et al in 2017. But I've come around. I can fairly predict which way a judge will rule based on the party of the person who appointed them (with GWB appointees being iffy). All respect for the courts has gone out the window.

The pro-Antifa "journalists" in Portland have all stopped livestreaming - they only post edited snippets that show all of the police violence, and none of the Antifa violence. People who are identified as livestreamers have been attacked.
There was considerable discussion on Portland Antifa twitter after Adam Haner was attacked on how to keep people from filming future attacks of this nature.
Amusingly, at least one right-wing streamer has been able to keep functioning at the Portland protests by dressing identically to a member of the Antifa "black bloc" - since he's not identifiable, it's hard to target him.

It turns out that Riverdance has a story line and part of it is Irish coming to New York and meeting tap dancers and the styles influenced each other. He played a tap dancer.
Here's the heartwarming part of the story. This guy's in maybe his late 30s now. There's a tradition I'd never heard of about wearing white shoes. You don't get them for yourself. And last week a mentor of his sent him white tap shoes.
He'd respected the tradition and not got his own white shoe and now he has them.

That was the whole point about objectivism. It is there, it is easy to explain. It doesn't need defending because it is reality.
However, the newer thought is that it is not a two position spectrum between left and right, it is a three position triangle of Individuals, Limits and Equality
it only seems that classic liberals are midpoint between the left and right, because from the individual position, the left and right are on different sides from you.

They are the same music. I think it has to do with the French invasion of Mexico with Maximilian, but the Polka music came to Mexico and became that norteno stuff.
A friend's German grandmother came to visit and would listen to the low riders going up and down the gut blasting their music, and she loved it because it reminded her of home and her childhood.

So the Clinesmith stuff. That all sounds like that is the result of Trump appointing Grennel to be his acting Director of National Security and that scared the deep state so much they let him put in his actual choice, who told the DOJ to declassify some shit or he was going to do it instead. So they declassified it and that is what exposed Clinesmith and made him go to Durham.

These days if you know a few of the lyrics of a tune, the internet is pretty good at sleuthing that out. Instrumentals? Kind of screwed. The 50s and 60s had some good 'uns, just on pure production and musicianship.

Went today to my first dog show since March. A new procedure for traffic flow in and out of the ring has been set up, as well as picking up armbands before going in and getting ribbons afterwards. It mostly puts the burden on the poor steward (i.e., me) to keep things moving efficiently. But it worked out pretty well and for the judge and exhibitors it's not much different than before.
I got a nice compliment from a long-time handler, who told me it was a relief to have a steward who actually could be heard. So maybe I'm good for something.

They love the first amendment to protect their b.s., but ignore it when they use the government to stifle free speech through selective enforcement of laws, such as shutting down protests when right leaning groups show up, targeting govt agencies after groups they want to silence, or using their agents in the media to try and silence critics through boycotts and veiled threats.
The same for for the second amendment, if you're a law abiding citizen they'll do everything to stop you from having a gun, and if you have one they'll do everything to jail you for it. But if you're a criminal they'll work to remove any enhancements that come from committing a crime with a gun, they'll allow you to plead to one charge and drop the gun charge (which is why prisons have so many "non-violent" drug offenders doing 10 years, because the DA drops the 25 year gun charge if they plead to just drug possession, then they, and libertarians, cry that they sould be free because ghee shouldn't be jailed for just drugs) and if worse comes to worst they'll blame your illegal gun on a legal gun owner in another state.
So yeah, the constitution is great if we all play by the rules, but they won't ever do that, so i don't mind seeing the constitution F off, because I'm sick of only one side being denied rights, especially when the cuck ship crew is the one pushing to deny rights while always screaming "muh constitution"

You got it right. My earliest folks here were Dutch, lived in New Amsterdam back in the 1620s. They really should have kept that place on Wall St instead of moving out to Flatbush. Then NJ.

Duplicates, dead people, people moved, etc.

Started up two vehicles, and moved them to mow where they have been resting. The '62 Studebaker Champ pickup started instantly (I primed the carb.), and kept right on idling like, well, a Champ. Backed it up ten yards, mowed the patch, and then drove it ahead again. Didn't take it out on the road, because just running on a liter bottle of gas tied into the fuel line, and, no brakes at all.
The '65 Olds Delta 88 tried to start, but I ran my starting battery down before it could keep running. So I went got the non-licensed '97 Suburban. Its battery was right up, and it started almost instantly. Boosted the Olds off it, and got it running. That big 425 idles so smoothly and quiet...
Drove it over by the shop, blew dust and pine needles off it, aired up the tires, which were not bad at all, washed the windshield, and put a gallon of fresh gas in the tank. Drove it almost 2 miles up the grid road and back. Ran fine, and the brakes work. Nice to feel that big-block boot in the ass when I step on the throttle.
Mowed that car's spot, and put it back. Spent the rest of the day welding legs on an air tank, and got that done, too.

There's a current game that would probably be considered a successor to that. Command: Modern Operations is supposed to be a pretty sophisticated simulation of running air and naval operations in a modern (or recent history) environment. The developers are apparently confident enough in the game's mechanics that there's a "vendor" version of the game that's only available to companies that work in the defense industry. This particular version of the game allows companies in the defense industry to input the actual stats of their planes/ships/missiles/what-have-you as opposed to the "best info based on unclassified documents" stats that the game developers are forced to use for the retail version of the game. The defense industry companies can then run the simulation using the more accurately statted versions of their equipment and see how their stuff might work in a conflict.
I have the previous version of the game - Command: Modern Naval / Air Operations. But it's involved enough that I've never actually sat down and figured out how to play it (though I'm confident that if I did, I'd get at least some enjoyment out of it).

Nope, he was a veteran and a Ph.D. when he moved to Canada to be a government scientist, he settled in Ottawa in a big fancy house (I remember visiting and staying there as a little boy) and did a lot of scientific work and expeditions in the far north. I drifted out to Alberta 40+ years ago, going wherever I could find work.

I think he plead to a rarely used part of 1001 - involving false documents, not statements - but it all revolved around altering a document provided by CIA. I doubt a DOJ investigation like Durham's would not have access to a CIA document that DOJ had received and used as part of an investigation.
Some follow all the details very closely (I'm happy for exec summaries and care mostly about actual events/actions), but I haven't seen any of those types connecting DNI actions to the Clinesmith case or its progress. We'll find out. I am still wondering when we get to see the plea agreement.

So today I had a guy come in interested in the history of a building. To cut to the the short story, I helped him and we covered the history of the building so he could decide how to restore it..
After he and his partner who joined us, over an hour of research they knew a lot more about the structure. We had a good time, I enjoy helping people w/ research.
Holy Moly, after they left there was $200 in the donation box!

Yep, it was German settlers in Texas and, to a lesser extent, Arizona who made oompah music popular with folks in northern Mexico.
My wife's maternal ancestors settled Boerne, which is in the Texas Hill Country near San Antonio. Her grandparents primarily spoke German and her mother was fluent in German and English.
My ancestor founded the tiny town of Hochheim.
Southern Texas very nearly became a German colony. That would have really changed history.

You have the good guy saving the town, the bad guy shooting up the town, homesteading (sheep vs. cattle wars), stage/train/bank robbers, all sorts of plots. And horses. Lots of horses. I remember reading about the Lobsterbacks complaining (under a flag of truce) about the accuracy of our Kentucky Long Rifles in the War of the Rebellion, taking out their officers at long range (the officers being on horseback didn't hurt the target acquisition process at all). The complaint was it wasn't fair because the potential for death was more than random/luck.

Two of the best places for birding near me is a certain slough and a fluddle. The fluddle is dried up completely, and the slough has very little water left. The shore birds migrating through like the mudflats somewhat, so there's a little activity there. Last year was just a great season for observing. This year, not so much.

Three very different questions.
Incarceration has nothing to do with "capitalism", its a social issue where a body of laws exist and the will of the government to enforce them through the use of prisons. The government could just as well use restitution for property crimes and torture, exile or execution for violent crimes.
Drug Use case does have tentacles in to "capitalism" because markets attempt to satisfy demands. If drugs weren't developed, or the cost too high, then there wouldn't be an abuse of that particular drug.
People like to get intoxicated, if not Fentanyl, then heroine, or marijuana, alcohol or licking toads. The Chinese had a problem with Opium and the soviets had a problem with alcohol. Today's toxic dose winners with media coverage are opiates in the West.
The last question is interesting, because it forgets that China started this crap, was welding the doors shut on the infected, and lied to the world about everything around the plague.
People consume things like electricity, food, water, medicine and a host of other things. I can't think of any economic system that can survive, or even contemplate voluntarily destroying a third of its economy in an irrational response to delusions, neuroses and general grabs at power.
We have had a massive wealth burn down in the past six months of savings have been wiped out or are presently inflated away.
Yet people still have air-conditioning and can somehow afford all of those drugs.

Regarding the coin shortage... it's real and it's mostly due too the shutdown. With businesses now shuttered they're not taking in cash like they used to. Therefore the banks are not getting deposits that includes coins.
Also, since a lot of people are stuck at home they're not out spending money. There are plenty of coins, they're just in circulation. Add in the general move towards cashless and, coin shortage.

I know our household is loaded with coins because the bank lobbies are closed, the stores that have coin reclamation machines require masks (haven't worn one at all, plan to continue that trend).
The problem is self perpetuating. If they threaten to not provide change, why would I not have coins in reserve so that I am not overcharged? IOW, I',m not going to return any coins because I'm told to either have correct change or get gypted.
Or use plastic and provide Big Tech with another data point to use against me.

The building materials, unlike the lunacy in the US, is made of durable materials that resist fire and bullets rather than the kindling and sticks used to construct nearly every home in the US.
Years ago, I designed the house to be of tilt-wall construction, raised floors so that storage, plumbing, electrical and HVAC could run underneath. Rooms can easily be redesigned since no wall except the exteriors are load bearing.
Don't have to worry much about fire or windstorms. Roof made to hold a greenhouse and provide food along with additional insulation.

I went to a place called Blobs Park for years. It was the exit up the Baltimore-Washington Parkway from NSA.
Very ethnic German waltz and polka place. First was a small dance floor, then it built a bigger venue. I was spun around the floor by a lot of short, black-clad German widows in the Paul Jones dances. The house band the Rhinelanders was not great, but they could hold a rhythm.
Last time I went was when Myron Florin and his band (he was on the old Lawrence Welk Show) played. You could dance with people around you, and I think I danced every time. Such fun.
It's gone now; the property turned into houses.

Which of ALL health options available is the one with the least evidence (if any) of any usefulness.
In general, the masks increase other health risks and are worthless against viruses.
Furthermore, if Biden did win, he wouldn't be able to do anything until late January, and a national mandate would likely mean eternal mandate since the FedGov only sunsets tax breaks.
