I saw on Steam a Samurai Jack game that's coming out: "Battle For Time". I just can't. I was a big fan of the cartoon. But what the cartoon network did in the end was terrible. I know, I know, just a cartoon character, but it was criminal. Not going to spoil it for you if you haven't seen the end but they give him everything he wanted and then break him.
If the video game is Jack hunting down the animators to undo his final episode then I'll buy.

Three people a day are dying of CCP virus in Oregon - a hundred people die on a normal day in Oregon.
At the rate cases are currently declining, Brown said it would take more than 200 days for all of Oregon to meet school reopening metrics. And to that end, the governor said the state has two paths to consider.
Either Oregonians - specifically those who have downplayed the virus's effects and the severity of its spread - can more strictly adhere to social distancing guidelines and opt to wear masks, or Brown will hand down a new statewide order to shutter bars and restaurants.
Translation: the schools will be shut for all of the next academic year.
I wonder if this is going to be the thing that breaks the Democratic coalition in Oregon - when parents, particularly suburban parents, see that the schools are basically non-functional for another year (imagine a Zoom class of second graders).
Yet, the schools are laying nobody off (the Governor's initial pandemic order explicitly ordered the schools not to lay anyone off), so there will be no reduction in the high taxes people pay for schools.

Basically, the teachers union saw a golden opportunity to get a year's paid vacation, doing little or no work, and they are grabbing it.
Yeah, you will have Karens screaming about "safety", but the average parent, figuring out how to manage having the kids at home for another year, while giving them some semblance of an education, probably will have a different opinion.
Trump really needs to keep pushing on reopening schools - I think that this is a golden political opportunity.

I was listening to a podcast and the guy mentioned that Sulla (Roman dictator, great general, kind of an asshole) had had as the epitaph on his tomb: 'No greater friend, no worse enemy.' This surprised and impressed me as the origin for the phrase.
So, I looked it up and some pages ascribe it to Mad Dog Mattis in relation to the United States.
Looking up the wiki page, it says that Plutarch reported reading the epitaph on Sulla's tomb as 'No greater friend, No worse enemy.'
However, wiki also states that the epitaph read: "No friend ever served me, and no enemy ever wronged me, whom I have not repaid in full" which, while no less bad ass, is still not quite as pithy in it's brevity.

This was a new motherboard when I was putting together a system. It acted a bit twitchy, so I had opened things up, looked it over. I could not see anything wrong, so I reconnected it to power and hit the power switch. Poof.
The tech guy said he thought that the capacitors had probably leaked fluid across the board, which when power was applied, caused a short. Hence fire.

I have a rule about sites with thousands of comments per article. Don't read them. It's all fighting and name-calling.
Breitbart comments and The Hill comments are indistinguishable from each other.
Comments on right-side sites.
Most of the comments default to "most popular". That guarantees the most hair-on-fire comments stay at the top.
Next time, change preference to either "oldest" or "newest" sort, and at least you can get an idea of commenters, instead of the dumpster fire it defaults to.

It's three parts. You put water in the bottom part up to the pressure nipple. Not over it because that's how it can explode.
You put coffee grounds in the middle part. You put it on the stove. When the water boils the steam comes up through the middle part and through a spout where it fills the top part with espresso. (Steam vs. water is the difference between espresso and coffee).
It makes a very distinctive gurgling noise when it's done, so you have to be around and not let it burn.

I was listening to a podcast and the guy mentioned that Sulla (Roman dictator, great general, kind of an asshole) had had as the epitaph on his tomb: 'No greater friend, no worse enemy.' This surprised and impressed me as the origin for the phrase.
So, I looked it up and some pages ascribe it to Mad Dog Mattis in relation to the United States.
Looking up the wiki page, it says that Plutarch reported reading the epitaph on Sulla's tomb as 'No greater friend, No worse enemy.'
However, wiki also states that the epitaph read: "No friend ever served me, and no enemy ever wronged me, whom I have not repaid in full" which, while no less bad ass, is still not quite as pithy in it's brevity.

That is good. The Greek says, as precise as I can make it (thus awkward in English): "no one with respect to friends in doing well (benefiting) or of enemies in treating badly, wickedly / doing harm surpassed him.
The way with the ancients is that when Plutarch says "they say," it means that he himself does not vouch for Sulla having written the lines, nor does he deny it.

It doesn't matter. They're not taking a blind sample. Modern statistics is all about justifying how you shape your sample, to defend how you biased it.
Because if the D to R ratio in Minnesota is 50 to 30, you shouldn't have to expressly find 50 Ds and 30 Rs. Just call 100 people - see what happens. Or a thousand. Calling more people is what boosts the confidence interval.

I went to a yard sale this morning, and it wasn't too far from my chiropracter, so, I figured I check out the sale and then get my bones rattled.
My dentist is across the street from my chiropracter, and i always pop in and shoot the breeze with him.
I went in my dentist's office and he's closing up !
He's been my dentist since '81, great guy, we've always swapped books and stories.
But, if I hadn't gone to the yard sale, ( a dud, btw) I would have never known what became of my dentist !

Had the van's oil and antifreeze changed today, and got rid of the tick in the rear wheel somewhere.
The tick sounded like something was stuck in the tire, as the sound was consistent with the rolling of the tire, not the engine RPMs. Somehow, a part of the emergency brake was bent, and they bent it back, no extra charge. Works like new.
But the important thing was that I walked a couple of blocks to the Mexican restaurant and had enchiladas picadillo, shredded beef.
And a double top shelf margarita. And the shop was busy and falling behind, so instead of going to the waiting room, I ordered another double top shelf margarita.
Now, 2 hours later, my drinking regiment is all messed up.
Beer? still too full.
Whisky? nah, don't want to mix with the tequila.
Wine? are you nuts?
HEY! Look! Two little cans of margarita mixer I forgot about in the back of the refrigerator! And a big bag of ice is in the freezer. Still have a half bottle of the Costco Silver that makes a fine drink.
Problem solved!

When Mrs. KvC and I went to get tested for WuFlu three weeks ago, the testing location was a hispanic community center in downtown Wilmington. Supposedly it was a "bad" place to be if you weren't a POC.

And look - I've tried it. I had a theory that betting big Vegas line swings would win - because the public was wrong. Not a bad theory.
After keying in three years of a prominent site, filtering out the minor garbage - I learned that lines swing big when big players move in. But there was nothing I could make money with.
My data mining was just as valid, and just as rigorous, as any other researcher. And just as futile.

Was going to just go to McDonald's, for a bite and to kill time waiting for the van to be serviced, but their dining room was closed! Drive-up only, kind of tough when walking.
Next door, the Wendy's, same thing.
Then I spotted the sign to the Mexican place. A block away. I knew it was there, but haven't eaten there in well over a year. And YES!, the dining room was open!
But half the seats were taped off and I had to wear a mask to go in.
Walking back the half mile or so, after finishing a big plate of Mexican food and two big afternoon margaritas was a bit challenging however.
I endured.

There is so much wrong with this. First of all it's named smeg. I'm not lying, go look at the link.
Then there's this: "This espresso maker delivers authentic espresso in Italian couture style."
First off, couture refers to clothing. No one wants their coffee to taste like burnt linen. Second, it's a French word. There is no such thing as authentic Italian couture.
How is it that 22 year old English majors keep getting jobs?
