Sefton: sefton at cutjibnewsletter.com | Fox News' Left-Liberal Cranky Old Fossil and Conspiracy Theorist Chris Wallace Defends Joe Biden on Guns, Insisting That He Doesn't Want to Erode the Second Amendment, Just Take Away "Weapons of Mass Destruction" Like the AR-15I ask again: Why are 90% of the positions in "conservative" media filled by left-liberals? It's almost as if the corporate stooges running these companies intend them to be safe, managed Controlled Opposition operations that will never be too conservative. That basically describes 90% of "conservative" politicians as well....Wallace's analysis of the Democrats' convention went off the rails when he turned to the topic of Joe Biden and gun control.Wow, Chris Wallace decloaks as a left-liberal hack and partisan shill for the Democrats. What a surprise. Yet again, my expectations have been so subverted that my whole reality is spinning and my limbs feel like alien meat controlled by invisible puppeteers. Next thing you'll be telling me is that AllahPundit, who claimed to oppose Obama for eight years, is backing the third Obama term now as represented by Centrist Moderate Joe Biden, just as he backed the third Obama term in 2016 when he backed Hillary Clinton in a very cowardly, womanly, passive-aggressive/plausible-deniability way. And then I just won't know which way is up! Fact-Check: Last year, when CNN nepot Anderson Cooper asked about gun owners' fears that Joe Biden's administration would come to "take their guns away," Joe Biden answers: "Bingo!" But don't listen to Joe Biden's own words; listen to left-liberal media activists' spin.Earlier in the hour, Wallace praised an address by former congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords -- whose husband, astronaut Mark Kelly, is seeking to unseat Sen. Martha McSally, R-Ariz., in November -- as "enormously powerful" and called her "a living embodiment of the concern" most Americans have about gun violence. Comments(Jump to bottom of comments)1

If you ever want to know what the DNC's "Talking Point of the Day" is, you can't go wrong with going to Chris Wallace.
He has been mainlining that shit for who knows how long. He was the very first to say, astonishingly, and within seconds of the first break in testimony, that Blasey-Ford was "credible". There's a whole lot of Malarkey in the Gun Industry these days what with the AR-47 and the AK-15. You don't need these sorts of things, they're heavy machine guns! I have a radical take on the second amendment. And no, that take is not compatible with "all but assault rifles."
If the armed forces use it, I as a citizen should be allowed to use it. I define "arms" very broadly. If I want to install landmines on my property, why should I not be allowed to so long as I follow the applicable conventions (e.g., putting up fences and placards)? If I want to stock up on RPGs, why should I not be allowed to? If I want to buy a fully-functioning tank or artillery, why should not I be allowed to? These things are egregious cost centers and most won't ever do it, but they should be *allowed* to do so. The purpose of keeping and bearing arms is, at its core, to defend one's self against the state. I should not be legally restricted from reaching parity if needed in the hypothetical case where I can afford it. Posted by: Joe Mannix (Not a cop!) at August 20, 2020 05:02 PM (hYcqw) 76

There is a lot of hysteria over these mislabeled assault weapons which are semi automatic. An individual can own an automatic weapon by getting a tax stamp and a buttload of fed paperwork, if he or she wishes.
As an individual who respects and supports the 2nd amendment, it is clear to me that it was formulated to protect me against the tyranny ofnindividuals and of government, if it got so bad. An individual cannot afford to feed automatic weapons at 400 to 600 rounds per minute. Good for suppression fire, but there is no substitute for good marksmanship. Platforms like the AR-15 or M1A are great semi-auto platforms to defend yourself and your family. A good marksman can call his or her shots without the spray and pray of automatic weapons. People were wondering if Bannon was Q, but that seems unlikely.
A lot of people got interested in Q over the lockdown, because suddenly crazy conspiracies didn't seem so crazy The general consensus is Q is military intelligence, possible Edward Snowden's NSA. The left must be worried, and lately instead of ignoring Q, there's been several "false flag" attempts to discredit it. Some of the main Q twitter sites had over 500K followers. In the past few weeks, @jack has banished many of them. Which makes me think its not just 4chan, fooling around Posted by: artemis at August 20, 2020 05:06 PM (AwPyG) 108

- Yep. The reason the left hates guns is because they assume everyone is just like them. Horrible, violent, antisocial, quick to anger, mentally unstable hotheads who would shoot someone in a traffic stop or political disagreement. Interestingly, that's the same reason I'm fine with my fellow Americans being free to own whatever they can afford. I assume they're the same as me, and a minigun is no deadlier than a paring knife. 75 I have a radical take on the second amendment.
Or more realistically, if I want to store 2500 tons of Ammonium Nitrate in a warehouse in the middle of a large city, should I have the right to do so?
Posted by: Tom Servo at August 20, 2020 05:09 PM (Kpl3J) ++++++++ Yes, you should. Same with atomic weapons. This is, essentially, a self-limiting problem for two reasons in our system. First, it is shockingly expensive. We often talk about countries that could easily have nukes but choose not to - countries like Korea and Japan. Why not? Because they're expensive. They're too expensive to keep as a hobby. In our country, which - present troubles notwithstanding - is quite peaceful, there would be no demand. On the other side, like large stockpiles of explosive materials, this needn't be regulated as a weapon. It can be - and is - regulated as industrial product that is highly dangerous. That's the reason for the compliance piece in my example about land mines. I can install them, but I'd damn well better put up fences and placards. If I don't, it brings up the second piece. That second piece is liability. We have very strong liability laws, customs and protections in this country. If I do something stupid and I kill someone, it's over for me. Period. I'm going down and I will be ruined. Self-preservation has a lot to do with self-control. And anyone in the position to be able to afford the more exotic manifestations of a truly unregulated arms market is extremely unlikely to lack self control and self preservation. If they that much, they have a lot to lose, too. It isn't perfect. Accidents could and would happen. It is possible that derangement and evil could lead to non-accidental bad outcomes, too. I acknowledge that. I do think that, on balance, the arms market should be open regardless. I do not think that the risks of an open market for arms exceeds the risk of oppression that we see writ large in every respect when arms are restricted. They focused on the personal protection needs/rights of women, "trans" people and minorities as well as white folks, and went waaaaayyyy back in history to educate the court on how many multi-shot weapons existed and were commonly used, beginning as far back as the 1500s. For Joe's main point about the purpose of the 2nd, my argument is that yes, the 2nd is about defense from the state, but it is also about personal defense.
More importantly, it is about defense from the state by allowing citizens the ability to defend themselves. The two are connected and most citizens loose their freedoms not because of the state military attacking the people, but from the thugs and criminals attacking the people and making them reliant on the state. Look at what happened with the ccp virus - a virus attacks the people and the state steps in and steals a bunch of rights from the people (travel, employment, assembly, religion,...) Now, you have a point about landmines, but I think practicalities make the issue moot. For RPGs, etc. I think the balance tilts. -- Sure, I want to own an RPG, but I sure as hell don't want my neighbors to own one. Or BLM, or the weathermen or black panthers or the corner drug lord. At some point my fear of others having those weapons outweighs my desire to own one myself.
Posted by: Gentlemen, this is democracy manifest at August 20, 2020 05:13 PM (LWu6U) Those are good points, and the point I was trying to make is that no society can allow weapons with which the society itself can be held hostage. Guns can be matched with other guns, but materials needed to build car bombs can not, and those have to be restricted. The cities in the middle east which have ineffective governments which control nothing, and they end up with dysopian hellholes, places like Beirut where 300,000 people can become homeless in an instant because of a screwup. That's a risk that a sane society won't tolerate. Also, with respect to landmines, that's the same category as trip guns. You would need signs all around such a property saying "IF THIS HOUSE CATCHES FIRE LET IT BURN!!!! ALL FIRE DEPARTMENT PERSONNEL WILL BE KILLED IF THEY ATTEMPT TO PUT ANY FIRE OUT!" Someone told me the 5 cognitive questions are to test different areas of your brain for damage. The area that remembers who is president is different than the area that remembers what day it is. Really interesting.
Posted by: artemis at August 20, 2020 05:23 PM (AwPyG) +++++++++++ It's really weird when that "who's the president" part gets damaged. My dad had a grievous head injury some time ago and he was in a coma for a couple of weeks (the latter part was drug-induced on purpose to keep him safe). As he started to come to, he thought it was 1982 (the last time he had a major hospitalization). All of his answers were very consistent with 1982. President, where he was living, his siblings' ages, his children's names (except mine, since I wasn't born yet), all of it. Over the next week or so, he caught back up to present day. It was spooky. Gun control legislation is dead. I know someone who was always mildly in favor of "common sense gun safety" who purchased a pistol in June, loves shooting, and is now only limited in range time by availability of ammo.

Posted by: Heart of Darkness I understand, I am just saying that everything is a tradeoff and has a balance between conflicting priorities. At some point people are willing to give up freedoms. I think any further limiting of guns is stupid since without concealed carry, semi-auto, etc. you can not defend yourself and you are fully reliant on the state, while not affecting the criminals at all since they can and will break those laws. But an RPG gives me little additional self defense, and creates the problem of fear of others --- and that gives the state more power since only they can protect me. Nuclear, Biological, Chemical (NBC) US doctrine as WMDs was simple - NBC as WMDs are indistinguishable, use one on us, we use one on you. Unfortunately all we have for WMDs is nuclear. W. decided after 9-11 that big bombs, improvised or manufactured, are also WMDs. Effectively killing the US doctrine of indistinguishability and enter arguing the size of big bombs. Now assclowns are arguing that semiautomatic rifles are WMDs. Do we respond that an AK-47 attack merits a nuke response. No. It was a unilateral withdrawal of nukes being on the table if attacked by other, until then, WMDs (until then NBC). Posted by: Burnt Toast at August 20, 2020 05:39 PM (15yMb) 371

Joe Biden follows a basic pattern of argumentation RE the 2A.
First, he argues the 2nd is not limitless. His evidence is SCOTUS has allowed limitations. Second, he chooses random features of any gun other than a standard shotgun and claims it's not necessary. Third, he asserts his bona fides by pointing out he and his sons own shotguns and his sons hunt. It's basically the Fudd view of 2A. As long as shotguns and hunting are allowed, the 2A is preserved. People think that Fox is really conservative, but they're only 70% liberal as opposed to the standard 95% liberal other places.
The pool of young lefties emerging like tadpoles from the J-schools that still exist--even the humanities departments shrink from their sheer uselessness--are 100%, so 95% represents some form of seeking the Other. Posted by: Jerry Carroll at August 20, 2020 07:31 PM (tSiV9) 588
If an "assault rifle" is a "weapon of mass destruction" then Shrub was correct that Saddam Hussein and his military had many WMDs.

319 >>I had no idea there was such a thing as a privately-owned submarine. Other than maybe someone like Jacques Cousteau.
When I was a kid we used to go to a friend of my parents lake house in the Adirondacks for a visit. There was a guy way back then who owned a small two man sub he used to tool around the lake in. They've been available for a long time. ----Yes, we have the two nukes lost off the coast of Georgia. Ask $200 Quadrillion LA/NYC or CH/DC? Posted by: SPECTRE at August 20, 2020 09:45 PM (r+ov6) 590
Chris Wallace's dad said if he were a reporter in a warzone, he would not warn American troops of an attack against them. Only Canadian Peter Jennings was willing to say he would.
Chris Wallace tried to help Hillary as a debate moderator by taking his cues from The West Wing and exposing to America how dumb is Trump- making him go deep into detail on topics.Media ran with 'Won't accept results of election' while in reality Trump got to spend the first half hour of the debate(aka when people are paying attention) telling voters in Pennsylvania, Michigan, and Wisconsin about Hillary's positions on abortion, guns, and judges. Letting media think he's a fool, and wins those states by 80,000 votes courtesy of Chris Wallace. Posted by: MikeN at August 21, 2020 01:53 AM (o/eHL) 591
How stupid is Chris Wallace? Or is he delusional.
ProTips for idiots like him: 1) An assault weapon is not a WMD. WMDs are clearly defined - usually nuclear, biological, chemical. By Wallace's logic a A-10 Warthog close air support plane is a "weapon of mass destruction". Hell, my LAV-25 firing 200 rounds per minute of 25mm (bullet size of a 20oz coke bottle) of high explosive incendiary ammo the explodes on impact in a 20 meter radius is a "weapon of mass destruction). It's FAR more lethal than any "assault weapon". 2) An AR-15 rifle is not an assault weapon. It may look black and scary, but it is not capable of firing on burst like it's sister, the M-16A2. I don't even think the M-16A2 is an "assault weapon", which as defined by anti-gun idiots is "anything black that looks scary". What Wallace has done is double dip into hyperbole. Bad enough he did it once, but then he dipped the HYPERBOLE itself back in for another hyperbolic coating. It's the rhetorical equivalent of dividing by zero, and reveals him to be an utter fool and a complete moron. Posted by: Fen at August 21, 2020 04:54 AM (TNHVJ) 592
"Why are 90% of the positions in "conservative" media filled by left-liberals?"
Hate to say it but... the answer is a few posts up by Weird Dave of all people: "Not going to lie, I like New York. Or rather, I liked the New York that Rudy created. It was safe, vibrant and alive. I wouldn't have wanted to live there, God no, but it was a great weekend destination. Broadway shows, delicious restaurants on every block, museums, street performers, culture, history....all only a couple-three hour drive away." When even he can be seduced by the culture, anyone even partly "wobbly" will be. Did you compromise when you bought your house? Pick a place a little too tight and too pricey when you could afford something nicer, because you wanted to be in a good school district for your kid's education? It's the same forces at play, only worse, as alot of people are willing to compromise their intellectual integrity to adopt politics they don't believe as a Virtue Flag that allows them to enjoy CULTURE. Go along to get along, leave the MAGA hat at home so the waiter doesn't spit in your food. Posted by: Fen at August 21, 2020 05:01 AM (TNHVJ) 593
Is Chris Wallace a jew like his father, Mike Wallace? It's really odd how it's jews who pretend to be right wing but align with the left in the pundit class.
