17 Had an interesting conversation with some young hipster types yesterday. Two couples, early 20s, hipster clothes and hair, one of the girls had the dyed-red hair.

As we were chatting, just because I was waiting for an Uber, they happened to be there, and this being a friendly town, one of the guys mentioned that they were headed out to see a live band in a while...and then everyone kind of froze for several uncomfortable seconds.

I lowered my voice conspiratorily and said with a grin in my voice: "Isn't live music against the law in this state?"

Picking up on my vibe, another answered, sotto voce, with a sly smile, "Well, we're kind of rebellious."

I said: "Me too. Always have been. If you young folks wouldn't mind an old greybeard dropping by, I'd love to give them some business and enjoy some live music. At this point, ANY kind of live music!"

They said, you'd be more than welcome!

They gave me the name and location of their Music Speakeasy. Don't know if I'll actually go but hey, I might.

I was very careful not to bring up politics, but gleaned several things from the group: they hate Polis. One of the young ladies said she wished he was up for re-election so she could vote against him, and they all concurred. And, it was one of those things where you are speaking conspiratorily and pick up on the vibe, I had a distinct feeling they were not voting Biden.

Not illegal here, but I'm sure social distancing is supposed to be enforced. A local bar/restaurant on the river has a band Sunday afternoon. A buddy told me about it and a friend of his is playing. We went to the place on Friday for fish fry and I looked at the outside venue. There is nowhere to sit and where you stand is in the sand of the beach volleyball court.

55 Gonna be tough to match yesterday morning. Went to the local Cabelas and came home with 1,000 percussion caps and a Ruger Blackhawk 357 from 1974.

I was amazed. Percussion caps are getting hard to find. And all handguns are in short supply. Finding that Blackhawk in near mint condition for a true bargain price verges on miraculous.

I would like to say it was a heavenly reward for clean living. I'll have to settle for being damn lucky.

Second thing I thought was... how does this compare to regular deaths per day of other causes in the U.S.?

Deaths from all causes: 1,671,434

Per Day COVID-19: 671
Per Day all causes: 7,396

So COVID-19 deaths represent only 9% of total deaths in USA.

In fact the Interstate ran through it, and the bison had a tunnel between the north field and the south field. You could leave the I-70, park, and walk up to the fence to look at the bison.

I have a rant in my head that I can't quite polish, but this is part of it. We don't have the second amendment in New Jersey.

I used to wish for a Bandertopia, where we'd get the freedoms from other countries (casual public nudity in gyms and saunas) and all of the liberties from America (buy a simple license and walk into the woods with a gun in season).

We have facial recognition and license plate readers in cop cars, so there goes your fourth amendment. We can't go to church (not that I did, it's just a matter of principle), or to bars, or to gyms, so your peacable assembly is fucked.

The first amendment is being clamped by tech companies not government, so it's sort of not unconstitutional but you're deprived of free speech anyway.

About the only thing we're missing is quartering of soldiers in your house in peacetime.

I have spent my entire life believing that America is special, that our freedoms are better than anyone's. I'm having trouble feeling it right now.

110 Our Whole Foods went full N*zi months ago, and I won't shop there anymore. Shame, too. I had moved into a new apartment half a block from WF just before ths shamdemic started, and I had initially been happy to have fresh produce within walking distance.

First sign of trouble was when they removed all outdoor seating early on, when they could have spread the tables out like every other place. Then, the armed guards at the door appeared. Next, they self-limited their capacity far below what the state mandated and started lining the sheep up on the sidewalk clear around the building, waiting to get in.

Final straw for me came when the armed gestapo stopped me at the door and told me reusable bags were no longer permitted in the store, even if you self-bagged. Again, this is their own decision. Literally every. single. place in town lets you bring in your reusable bags if you self-bag. And that had been the policy at WF only a week or so earlier.

But the kicker is: There was and *still is to this day* a giant fking sign in the parking lot, mounted to the top of the cart corral, that you walk past on the way in, that reads: "Don't Forget Your Reusable Bags."

Still not removed, painted over or covered with a tarp.

King Soopers is right there on the same plaze, no guards, no lining up like sheep, no insane bag policies. I shant darken Whole Foods' door again.

Texas is a pretty good sample size (about 10% us US pop). WhuFlu is not killing 9% but 9% of the people that die have it.

So 70.7% deaths are people over 65.

Been tracking 16 weeks now.
That the numbers are manipulated makes me think it's not on the up and up. That they do not keep straight deaths from Covid-19 and those with some other mitigating factors is a shame .

I was religiously following and tabulating the making calculations for the numbers in Michigan from the start as well. But once I found out that we could not trust any of the data, because they were lying about it -- calling every death a COVID-19 death, even sometimes when not even bothering to test the person for it -- and manipulating the data, I gave up.

I had been going over the data every day or at least weekly.

But it was pointless when I realized it was 'garbage in-garbage out' going on with the data.

I decided to check Michigan numbers this past week on a whim, as I hadn't checked in about 2 months. I compared the rates to what I had from months ago and everything is still the same. Vast majority of deaths are 60+.

I don't get this stance by the Left at all. By him saying this, isn't he stating that every Governor or Mayor who has not mandated mask-wearing right now is actually putting people at risk?

Because no one needs a mandate from the President to locally mandate mask-wearing. That's obvious from the cities and states who already have mandates in place.

So Biden is basically saying two things:

-- he thinks any mayor or governor who has not mandated mask-wearing is endangering people's lives
-- he believes in federal government control and bullying states to do what he wants

Remember when the media flip-flopped on first wanting President Trump to mandate lockdowns across the country and then questioning if he had the authority to force lockdowns to end?

Has anyone in the media gone back to that discussion of the authority of the President to do such things? Seems like a good question for Joe Biden.

201 Just discovered a really fantastic Prog band from Denmark called Fall of Episteme. Not quite neo-prog, not quite retro-prog, not quite prog metal. I like that they don't fit neatly into any category. Their self-released album sounds fantastic for a self-release. Great production and engineering. Great musicianship, tons of enthusiasm - you can tell they have a blast doing what they do - but what I like best is that they never forget the golden rule: even in Prog, you gotta have TUNES in there, man. Memorable, hoooky tunes. And they have 'em.

Really digging their 15-minute fantasy-epic "Invisible Crusader." Its message of the common people rising up against a corrupt leadership kind of resonates with me these days.

I know we have a lot of Prog Rock fans here so thought I'd give these guys a plug.

Our Krogers (King Soopers) has been pretty laissez-faire about the muzzles too. Most have it on walking in, although some ignore that as well, but once you're in a lot of people take them off. I needed to call an Uber yesterday. You have to click on your phone that you agree to wear a mask and sit in the back seat. The driver had on a very loose gaiter on that barely even covered his mouth. Seeing that, I immediately chin-masked it. He pulled down the gaiter and grinned at me in the rear-view, and we had a pleasant convo on the drive.
