Up unfortunately 2 hours earlier than I planned, so I ate a bit, shaved, and watched a great old British film on YouTube called Account Rendered. It's a murder mystery from 1957 with Honor Blackman as the second lead. Good stuff, fairly clued.

Watching some of the old B & W films, British and American, dramas and mysteries, has been my stress killer and entertainment. There are hordes (pun gleefully intended) of forgotten films on various channels. The big name movies of every year are there if you want to pay for them. But lots of people post good-quality videos of lesser-known films noir, British crime dramas, you name it, all for free.

Since the inception of the Corona-crisis, I've taken more notice of the wildlife around the homestead. We were fortunate to have orioles this year, lots of woodpeckers of all sizes, cardinals, bluebirds, and hummingbirds. We had a beautiful redtail hawk around and could hear the screes of the nestlings. Owls at night.Of the four-legged variety, there are bears around raiding birdfeeders, a moose and bobcats.
Not bad for seacoast area of NH.

I too have noticed more of the wildlife around the compound since retirement and the onset of Kung Flu. We have all kinds of birds including some blue, green and yellow birds (finches?) There's also quail, some redtail hawks and plenty of turkey buzzards. On the ground we've got all the normal 4-legged friends and pests.

As an aside, my SIL in WV has a momma and baby porcupine that visit from time to time.

We had a great horned owl mooching around our parts for a while. He kept trying to land on tree branches that were way too small for him, and he'd get a sort of "miffed" look as he inevitably bobbed around and sank lower and lower. Eventually he gave up and moved on.

Just about an hour away. Both my kids live in Kenosha WI and now that Rev is semi-retired we wanted to be closer to the grandkids. So Kenosha it is. Just in time to do online learning with the kiddoes while mom and dad are at work. No in-person school here, so it's us.

I'll be mowing the back acreage today. I'll be followed by a flock of cattle egrets. They're indigenous to the Gulf Coast and follow livestock around, eating insects turned up by their hooves. Sometimes you see them riding the back of a horse or cow, picking bugs off their hide.

good. i have a relative that lives in a rural area and has lots of chickens turkeys etc. They would lose a few a night to foxes I guess. At one point they had to go out with shotguns at night and at least try to defend them. Those predators can be very sneaky once they lock in. Hopefully they are not and issue for them.
