Later went into the corn oil bidness, I believe.

Got a Native American chick to shill for him.

Thus continuing the long history of Native Americans being culturally appropriated by Italians, as first seen with "Iron Eyes Cody" (Espera Oscar de Corti).

30 Have to run some errands, dammit! But this is an extraordinary portrait. The dark background that emphasizes the book, the man's face and his hand. The skin tones are perfect for that lighting. This is comparable to a Rembrandt: a very individual face, the direct look at the viewer, and the delicate use of related colors. The column captures the gilding on the book's pages.

Thanks for this one, CBD. I'll be back later to examine it more closely.

166 Now that we're past 100, another bit of hopeful news:

On of my writing group people, the older lady, has emailed me, sounding much more sensible than our Bernie-Bro colleague. Now I know better than to throw her right into J.J.'s Morning Report without warming her up, so to speak. So when she asked what I thought about politics today, I said, among other things:

". . . [A]sk yourself why America no longer *seems* like the America we grew up in. Would you have believed even 20 years ago, let alone 50, that Americans would willingly put on muzzles like tame dogs?

"And if Trump really were a dictator, there would be no dissent from his positions at all. Hillary would have been shot after she lost, and any protest would wind up under the treads of a tank. Just remember: Whatever the Democrats accuse their opponents of, they are probably guilty of themselves."

She's a cat lover, so I steered her to last week's Pet Thread. I can't think of a better way to expose people to Ace and the Horde.

219 Biden getting a little testy.

CBS News national correspondent Erroll Barnett, who was interviewing Biden as part of a convention of Black and Hispanic journalists, asked the former vice president if he'd ever been tested for cognitive decline.

"No, I haven't taken a test," Biden responded. "Why the hell would I take a test? Come on, man."

Biden continued, saying that would be like making the reporter take a drug test for cocaine before coming into work.

"What do you think? Huh? Are you a junkie?," Biden said.

Thankfully, it was "only" the equipment driver (and anyone unlucky enough to be working with him). I think they found a couple slagged bits of the machine, but that was all.

For the longest time, research folks at the DuPont Experimental Station who retired just walled away from their office and lab. Then, after the detritus from many iterations of this piled up, they switched their policy to, "If you intend to retire in the near furure, you will spend time purging your lab space of old samples and chemicals."

Went to one of those "Med Express" clinics the other day to be tested for Kung Flu. Not that I have it, but when I fly back from the MoMe, I'm in no mood to be hassled by Massachusetts' Gestapo.

They called yesterday and said I was clear. I want a paper copy, so called this morning. Was put on hold twice - once for 15 minutes - before I could speak to someone.

Went into the clinic and was immediately snapped at by the receptionist - "Sir, you need to go back outside and call to register." - but kept walking, said I'd called ahead and was there to pick up my paperwork.

Had it practically thrown at me. I took pleasure in taking my mask off right in front of the witch before turning around and walking out.

People are assholes.

Oh, and by the way, the morning rag had yet another "wear your mask or you'll die" COVID porn story as the "editorial" of the day. I'd shove the John Lewis funeral in their face, but I know they'd never print my letter.

Have I noted that people are assholes?

Under no circumstances ought the term "heroic" be applied to teachers in any school district which refuses to conduct teaching in actual classrooms.

On-line teaching is akin to spending one's workday in the teachers' lounges, based on what took place during this spring's fiasco. No more than two hours "teaching".

I knew a friend who'd been in the military and had been involved in trying to train some of the Afghans to be part of their own military force. He said the hardest thing of all was not figuring out if they were loyal or not; it was keeping them from shooting themselves or shooting their friends whenever they were handed a weapon. They had no concept of fire control, or for that matter, no concept of even basic safety measures. He said it was like handing guns to a bunch of 4 year olds and telling them to go play.

In my neck of the woods homes at all price points, except over $1M, are flying off the shelves.

A $350,000 place in a good, solid neighborhood, had 46 showings in two days and 7 offers from that. Two $600,000 + places on my street also had multiple offers and sold under three weeks.

The $180K-$320K homes are getting offers as soon as they go on the market from folks that have not stepped foot into them.

It's crazy.

I know that at least two members of my family were in the mob. As the family story goes, BITD when my paternal grandmother was living in NYC, right after she married my grandfather, a couple of her cousins were associated guys. She told them many times not to get involved in that mess, and that if they did they wouldn't eat at her house anymore. Which is the old italian way of saying you're persona non grata. Well, they didn't listen and later on they both "got their button" on the same day. As the story goes, on the day they got "made" they both went to my grandmother's house for Sunday dinner a few days later and told her as much. She gave them one last meal and told them never to come back around her family again. As the story goes, they understood and were very polite and respectful about it. They respected her wishes, thanked her, said their goodbyes and left. Nobody every heard from them again.

Wow, quite the story!

My great-grandfather represented a number of big time guys, including at the Appalachin Trials.

His various granddaughters, my aunts, would clerk in his law office.

One of my aunts told me, Sammy la Gamba had a habit of pinching the young girls' bums, and would do it to them in the office. One day my one aunt told her sister, "I'm going to tell Mr. Maggadino (the local Boss) what he did!"

My other aunt told her: "Don't do that. Maggadino is very much a gentleman in these kinds of things and he would NOT want one of his guys pinching the butts of his attorney's underage granddaughters. how would you feel if he's never seen again?"

Nice response shill faggot.

Zinc ions bind to a molecule found in HCQ and Green Tea Extract, which allows the zinc to be absorbed into the cell membrane, Zinc cannot do this by itself. Repeatedly, Zinc has been found to impede/slow down the replication of RNA viruses in the host cells.

Neck yourself.
