Trader Joe's to #Woke Droogs: LOLGF
Some #Woke Droogs signed a stupid little petition demanding that Trader Joe's change the names of some of its products.
For a while, Trader Joe's had a funny little thing going. Their Mexican food was branded as coming from "Trader Jose's." Their Italian food was from "Trader Giotto's." Now, I guess China doesn't have a name that sounds like Joe so I guess they just looked for one of the most popular male given names and called their Chinese offerings "Trader Ming's." This was racist, venomous little ignorant retards shrieked. Trader Joe's said they would consider changing the names. And then they said LOLGF, we're not changing anything.Trader Joe's seemed to reverse a decision to rebrand some of its international food labels, denying that the packaging is racist. After saying earlier this month that it is replacing "any variations" on the name Trader Joe's, the company said in an announcement on its website it will keep "products that resonate with our customers" on the shelves. For decades, the chain has used names like Trader Giotto's, Trader José's and Trader Ming's on international foods. "Recently we have heard from many customers reaffirming that these name variations are largely viewed in exactly the way they were intended--as an attempt to have fun with our product marketing," the company wrote. ...Stereotypes like "Jose is very popular boy's name in Mexico." We can't have harmful stereotypes like that In These Trying Times. Ten days ago Redbull fired its #Wokest executives for trying to tie Black Lives Matter around the company's neck. A Change.org petition organized by California high school senior Briones Bedell demanding changes to Trader Joe's branding has garnered more than 4,800 signatures as of Wednesday, but the chain said it does "not make decisions based on petitions."
The petition demanded that Trader Joe's packaging "belies a narrative of exoticism that perpetuates harmful stereotypes."

I think a good part of the reason I've lost weight after moving to Texas is that I'm no longer in walking distance of a Trader Joe's. Now when I need something from them I have to add it to a shopping list, and junk food doesn't go on the list.

Their store brand of Israeli couscous is my favorite, and the only reason I eat couscous. And they label it "Israeli" in big John Hancock cursive.
I like a lot of their dried goods and the dairy/cheese section.
I have found nothing reasonably affordable to match their feta cheese.

Most businesses are dominated by progs, and as most business have learned, there are enough progs in their bases to make capitulation an obvious choice. There are exceptions - some businesses like gun stores, for example, would be ruined by capitulation. Most won't be. Whether this is because most people are progs or because most people cannot be bothered to object, I do not know. I suspect there are for progs than I would have previously imagined. I doubt they are the majority, but there are more than enough to win.

Trader Joe's is a strange place. Their prices are much lower than one would expect and they have a lot of nice stuff. But very small quantities of it, and spread out over wide aisles so its like the store isn't carrying enough to fill the space it is in.

You and me both, brother. In my company's quixotic quest to remove "offensive" language from our source code, documentation and all correspondence, they have some interesting replacement language. My favorite is "white hat" and "black hat." Both are forbidden now. Their replacement is "ethical" and "unethical." They have no replacement for "gray hat" and I wonder when they'll figure it out. I also wonder when they'll figure out that the replacements are not perfect synonyms and if they care about the pollution they are creating in pursuit of their woke aspirations.

It was never meant to be this big thing anyway, he tried to sell his elemental magic fantasy and no publisher wanted to print any more of that kind of thing. So he knocked off the first Dresden book just to make money and get a sale and it went huge. There had been urban fantasy before that but he really for some reason connected with people and it took off like crazy.
So it wasn't a planned series, there's no idea behind it other than "well hell, I need to pay rent." And it shows.

When I lived in walking distance of one, I used their yogurt exclusively. It was the best at the best price in the area. It was the first yogurt I tried that I liked. So congratulations.

anyway when I was a poor artist, they were always really cool to work for, they kept me semi fed
and during this insanity, TJs has been my go to for shopping, and they've made it tolerable and even somewhat cheerful.
they've been "there for me" throughout my life I guess. that's about the best thing a brand can do.

This is funny because it's true. I unfriended a dear friend in Portland in 2016, not because she's an SJW (she's a happy warrior liberal) but because of her friends. They were SHOCKED that they couldn't just pick up and move to Canada. They bitterly shared that 1) they had to have substantial savings, 2) they had to have marketable skills and/or a job lined up, 3) they have no physical disabilities, and 4) they have no mental health issues.
#4 was such a problem for so many of them! It also became clear that people dissatisfied with their lives in the US are looking for political caretakers.

I didn't send it to the cookbook but there's a super simple recipe for making soft cheese out of that stuff. You put the yogurt in a strainer with a cheesecloth over a container and gravity (plus some pressure if you want to speed things along) drains the excess fluid off, leaving a soft lump. Mix in chives, salt, garlic, whatever for a spread.
Takes a day or so to really drain it out, so you can just stick the works in the refrigerator and forget about it a while.

Yup, this is certainly true of my company. We do little work with consumers. We're a business-to-business firm. Our customers are other businesses for the msot part.
And yet, we're purging and sanitizing language everywhere - inside and out, and being instructed to not use such language in E-Mails, phone calls, etc. - of our own volition due to our own internal pressures and internal executive enthusiasm. No one outside demanded it. The attitudes outside in public surely contributed, but they are not the cause.

No, not yet anyway. But they have assigned engineering teams to go replace all the bad thoughts. Yeah that character was still reasonable. Capable, but not so great she was equal to the mages and super powers, and she needed help.
It was at least believable that a woman who has spent her entire life around cops and being a cop and training to deal with bigger/stronger opponents is fairly competent in a fight.

I agree. Football isn't like some sports where the skill level is clear player to player expect in some very specific positions. If the QB cannot pass for crap, you'll notice. If the receivers can't hold on to the ball you'll notice. But I mean.. if the Linemen can't block very well, but the offensive line can't break through, its just going to look like normal.

I think the leagues are underestimating just how important that is, to the players and fans. The live event will lose much of its excitement, when there is no live audience, and players' performance will be negatively affected. Even fans watching on teevee, the event will seem less urgent, less dramatic.

The NBA and the NCAA mostly call traveling only for a player moving his non-pivot foot, or for jumping and landing a second time without a dribble. While dribbling or running to make a dunk? Hardly ever called, nor is palming. I've seen those called, but they are super-rare especially in the NBA.

They were all sucked into developing increasingly complex financial instruments and selling them to suckers. Additionally, I suspect that much of US corporate culture was influenced by WWII and the fact that so many of the leadership were in the military or in a position where "we need to get this shit done" was paramount. Over time that attitude has faded away.

One son to inherit the farm/family business, one son for the military, one son for the church.
That cut out the inheritance disputes. Military son either got killed or conquered his own territories. Church son wasn't allowed to breed, taking him out of the picture as well (but served as a backup son if something happened to the eldest... you could usually pry him away from the church for a small fee).

Yeah I noticed that. Didn't help them, I don't think they gained any market share. Most soft drink companies got kicked around pretty good by the sudden surge of vaguely flavored fizz waters. Which I happen to like: no sugar, no caffeine, no funny additives.

It does raise the larger point, however, that companies that we identify as "American" no longer are. They are global conglomerates with interests all over the world. The leadership of these companies are often foreign (born or citizens). Like Sundar Pichai. They are no longer interested in evoking an "all-American" identity.

I also think it's super important to be aware of natural tendencies inherent in both sexes, in order to OVERCOME them. shutting your eyes to reality doesn't help.
women have to push themselves to get out of their comfort zones, to not judge, to try to suppress their urge to control the behavior of others.
this is important for REAL social cohesion, and for human progress.
that's all. I point it out because it's very important in understanding some of what's going on, so we can stop it before America collapses fully, which is what a matriarchy WILL cause.

This is why I cannot stand a lot of women and the bitchy queens who mimic this behavior. It's taught to girls from birth through media and education. It's rare to see a good female role model in the media and it's been going on for so many generations that kids are seeing it in their parents, as well.
The last place I worked was bitchy-gossipy from day one and I couldn't adjust.
