Shock: David French Attacks Pro-Life Christian Conservatives In Order to Score Points for His Leftwing Friends... Again

As a friend says: "It's the classic David French tweet format: Preachy, Conservative/Christian Shaming, False Facts Collected from Leftwing Twitter Feeds."

If David French would like to know why conservatives are skeptical of masks, he could ask them.

If he knew any, that is.

Which he doesn't. So he makes guesses about what conservatives do or do not believe, and why they believe what they believe, just as his leftwing political allies do.

The Conservatives in the Mist treatment the leftwing press gives to conservatives -- treating them as dumb animals to be studied from afar instead of simply interviewed, as one would do with a human being.

And David French, naturally, follows his leftwing tribe in this.

Is anyone pretending this trans-trending c*ck is anything but a full-on "Blessings of Liberty" progressive antifa supporter?

He's a worst journalist than he is a lawyer. Once again, he states his anti-Christian assumptions as facts without bothering to check them.

Right from the lizard part of his brain to Twitter with no fact-checking or basic due diligence.

Degenerate twitter addicts need attention at all times -- and spending a few minutes alone, off social media, fact-checking a claim gets you no retweets!

If he had checked his assumptions -- if he did the very least amount of due diligence expected of any semi-serious writer -- he would have found that that the overwhelming majority of Republicans (and hence, "pro-life conservatives") support wearing masks.

It's not quite as high as the percentage of the Obey Your Superiors Democrats who support wearing masks, but it's very high.

republicanssupportmasks

So 68% of Republicans support mask-wearing, versus 92% of Democrats.

And my tipster points out that most of this difference is probably just due to the urban/rural divide. People who live in a lot of space really don't need masks as much as subway-riding New Yorkers do.

But note that last poll result: When asked if they believed that Republicans supported mask-wearing or not, Democrats were laughably inaccurate in their guesses.

Republicans, as usual, correctly intuited what Democrats believed, but Democrats, also as usual, were completely out-to-sea about what the Average Republican thinks.

As the friend who tipped me this says:

Isn't it terribly strange that David French, Super Christian Ultra-Conservative, keeps making the exact same slanderous mistakes about conservatives that his progressive twitter friends do?

Isn't weird that every one of David French's thoughts so perfectly tracks with the Twitter musings of Chris Hayes or Brian Stelter?

Either David French is a progressive -- period -- or Chris Hayes and Brian Stelter are also super-duper Strong Christian Conservatives.

I'm thinking option A is the more likely one.

More:

Theory: Jake Tapper, or possibly Brian Stelter, honeydicked David French and "turned" him.

And Jonah Goldberg, too.

Let's just take it from the top with the "who rightly ask women to carry children to term" part.

Pro-lifers didn't put the baby in the lady.
What they're saying is: if you don't want kids, then don't put yourself in a position to get pregnant -- use birth control, or better yet, be a little more discriminating about when and with whom you have sex.

It is not a similar argument to say: carry the baby = wear a piece of cloth on your face.

The mask is not a human life, and further, one does not create the scenario in which a mask is necessary (CHYNA did).

What an asshole. The differences are crystal clear: innocence, and to a lesser degree naivete. One is the death of an innocent soul. The other is an opposition by a sentient adult to being commanded to comply with edicts that are supported by no clear evidence.

That he would compare the two is appalling. That he would cheapen one with the other is grotesque.

107 65 What a bullshit false equivalency. It is no different, in spirit, than the canard of "how could you oppose abortion and support the death penalty (as if the two necessarily go hand-in-hand)?"

What an asshole.

"The second item in the liberal creed, after self-righteousness, is unaccountability. Liberals have invented whole college majors--psychology, sociology, women's studies--to prove that nothing is anybody's fault. No one is fond of taking responsibility for his actions, but consider how much you'd have to hate free will to come up with a political platform that advocates killing unborn babies but not convicted murderers. A callous pragmatist might favor abortion and capital punishment. A devout Christian would sanction neither. But it takes years of therapy to arrive at the liberal view."

So perhaps his comparison is not valid.

143 No, fomite transmission (surfaces) so far does not look to be a player, maybe even as much as with other viruses.

Already KIA, or near the end in ICU, but empowering errors about this virus:

* it's deadlier than flu
* it's even as deadly as flu
* asymptomatic transmission
* you can become symptomatic/seriously ill from it twice
* infectiousness is prolonged
* anti-bodies are needed for resistance/protection

Masks aren't on the list because that topic has already been studied for decades with fairly clear results, and nothing has changed of course.

The farcical nature of the "new evidence" barfed up by the CDC on this is just the 1,000th tip to the dim that the CDC is in serious trouble.

159 At this point wearing or not wearing a mask WRT Wuhan Flu indicates nothing. The science is in debate. The "science" is in debate. The cure is in debate.

But the statistics upon which we base everything are a damnable lie as is their wont. Politics, agenda, and actual data acquisition have twisted any data, at this point, to be irrelevant except as a bullet point to be superseded by subsequent bullet points. I don't expect information to improve until after November 2020.

Wear a mask. Don't wear a mask. Live with it.

But the Wuhan Flu has certainly flushed out those who prefer reflexive authoritarianism, so for that we can be thankful. I'll wager these are all correlated with casting a Republican ballot, but not with evangelical attendance. French is cheesed at other evangelicals, and I'm going to wager the reason for that is derived from personal interactions: the other men in his local congregation have decided he's a nuisance and avoid him.

I'm also going to put money on the proposition you've misunderstood French. Hypothesis: he's not an associate of any leftoid (who aren't thick on the ground in Nashville exurbs). He is a particular elementary school type who retains a noticeable residue of that: the youngster who couldn't build friendships with other boys and tends to be a remora to feminine authority figures. Much of what he has to say is a variation on a theme of 'that's uncalled for', an insipid phrase you only heard out of the mouths of bourgeois matrons.

And even today, the busboy, after clearing the dishes will use the same rag that was used to wipe down another table used by a customer to change the diaper on their child.

My problem will be with my employer. They have bought into this thing with every nickel they have. I work indoors; my office is air-conditioned, and I have space around me. Their facility is a half mile away from my office. By the time I walk there, my temperature will already be higher than 98.6.

there are so many conflicting reports ... some say it doesn't last on surfaces, idk. But yeah, go the the grocery ... usually have to open several frig doors for milk or frozen items ... most other shoppers have touched them, probably after wiping their eyes/mouth/ass ... heh.

And every item an infected person picks up while shopping is also handled by the checkout person, who then infects all your items ... and I did see two places early on that cleaned their hands after every checkout, but none recently.

Some mom had a couple little shits with her yesterday. You could hear the little monsters screaming from four aisles away, and as I'm trying to maneuver to avoid them, it's not working.

We line up in lanes, two apart (because they CAN'T open adjacent lanes, of course), and mom is saying "don't touch that, put that back!"

I'm thinking, "please let me the Covids," and I start breathing in their general direction.

339 >>> And what's their defiant response when asked to endure this tiny inconvenience? It's often a particularly dumb version of "my body, my choice." Unbelievable.

Abortion is the intentional murder of another human being.

Not wearing a mask to Walmart isn't.

In REAL conservative land we ask government to protect people from Murder.

We don't ask the government to prescribe safety gear for merely being in a public space, nor prescribe what *must* be worn aside from minimal coverings of our sexual anatomy for public decency. Nor define each and every nuance of what is necessary for personal OR public safety.

A store may have the right to say no-shirt no-shoes (or no-mask) no service. Where does these power hungry governors get their power?

I might concede an argument to necessity.....as necessity defends what it demands.......for the first month, which has long long past.

After that it is up to governors to avail themselves to their respective legislative bodies such that the peoples representatives elected to decide the power of governors may dutifully discuss the topic and weigh the evidence, hear their constituents and debate amongst themselves.

Which governors have actually done so? Those that haven't are operating illegally and are such breaking the law. And REAL conservatives get upset at governors acting as autocratic dictators on ANY issue, even if it is in our best interest.

I just did some envelope math for laffs.

Last year we have data for total deaths for is 2017, when 2.8 mm Americans departed this mortal coil.

Covid deaths so far are 150K. For simplification I'll say that that number will double by the end of the year and that half of that is fraud/comorbidity. (See how that makes the math easy?).

So covids are 5% of US deaths. That's kind of big, but closing the economy big?

This whole entire op and scam is as antithetical to actual science as can be conceived.

And as far as infection rates and testing...

I would say the tests are either overly sensitive and or giving false positives for any viral load.

Fun fact:

Viruses of all types are continuously circulating in human populations.

Errata:

If you think this shit is bad now wait until cold and flu season rolls around in October.

Tertiary:

It's going to be fun trying to weed out people with the three
different common flu types, and "Common Cold" viruses, which include but
are not limited to, Corona, Rhino and Adeno viruses against COVID-19 ie
a differernt strain of Coronavirus.

391 What Ace calls the " 'conservative in the mist' treatment" I call "anthropologizing."

That is, treating conservatives the way that anthropologists treat some primitive caveman tribe they just discovered. instead of accepting the cavemen's own explanation for their actions -- "We must throw the virgin into the volcano to feed the hungry Ocelot God, or he will eat our souls" -- the anthropologists condescendingly state their own interpretation and theory of the cavemen's action as being obviously true and coming from a much higher plane of intellectual sophistication: "The Caveman Tribe, fearful of ecological change brought on by pressures from logging operations upstream, assuage their collective super-ego with symbolic sacrifices yadda yadda yadda." This is not meant to intentionally belittle the tribe, but the anthropologists' simply can't help themselves from feeling superior to their study subjects.

This is what the Left does to the conservatives, but in their case they belittle their subjects intentionally, as a way to dehumanize them. Never ever accept the conservatives' own explanation for their beliefs. In fact, DON'T EVEN INQUIRE of conservatives why they believe what they do. Instead, generate your own anthropologists'-style theory for the conservatives' motivation. Classic examples are "Conservative like guns because they are overcompensating for their small penis size," or "Conservatives claim not to be racist because of the 'white fragility" of their egos," and so on. The "anthropologizing is endless, and universal.

My response has always been to flip the script, and anthropologize the Left. Never accept their own claimed justifications for their behavior. And come up with your own theory, and always make that theory be as demeaning and belittling as possible. This drives them absolutely bonkers with rage. Because they can't stand having their own strategy used against them.

And that's before one reduces the count for gunshot deaths, motorcycle accidents, and cases of 80+ yr-olds with 3 co-morbidities (not kidding).

As in the UK and and surely elsewhere, we're *under* our all-cause death "average" for the period, but more importantly, the 4-5 leading typical causes of death are *all* in deficit. Meaning a cardiac death has now been shifted over to C19, in effect.

Sweden, the largest modern country that has adopted minimal "policies" in response, is having a lower than average year for all-cause deaths, for the last 20 years.

Of course if one backs out a portion of the long-term care/nursing home fatalities, which look they might have been avoidable, the total fatality #s come down substantially, just like that.

And when the median age of a fatality is close to life expectancy ...... well, we'll leave that on for the smart kids in the class to figure out, in terms of significance for "public health".

398 After that it is up to governors to avail themselves to their respective legislative bodies such that the peoples representatives elected to decide the power of governors may dutifully discuss the topic and weigh the evidence, hear their constituents and debate amongst themselves.

Which governors have actually done so? Those that haven't are operating illegally and are such breaking the law. And REAL conservatives get upset at governors acting as autocratic dictators on ANY issue, even if it is in our best interest.

David French's value proposition for Pierre Omidyar, et. al., is that he's a "Christian" and so the other filthy, dirty peasants will surely listen to his Christiany Christianing and know the terrible truth of Orangemanbad.

Now, this is a bullshit con-job that takes in these donors because they've never met anyone outside of their circle of cultural elites, who all worship the goat-god Pan or something.

But that's the bill of goods they've bought and paid for, and David will keep running the play until they figure that no Christian gives a flying fuck what he says.

After that, it's truckstop beejers for French, and he knows it.

My brother, a healthcare worker, was tested for antibodies a few weeks ago and found out he had had it. He was really sick in early February - out for a week. And his wife also got very sick and was in bed for a week. They weren't thinking Wuhan flu then, but that's what it was.

He's been told he still needs to wear the mask, take all the usual precautions, etc. even though he has the antibodies, because "we just don't know if you're immune."

What I tried to point out to my sister this morning is he actually got it - and although he was sick, he didn't need to be hospitalized, didn't end up on a vent and didn't die. He's fine now. Yet everyone is acting like this is the goddamn 1918 flu or the bubonic plague.

441 If one is going to perfect only one punch, the left hook should be it.

Five plus hours a week on the heavy and double-ended bag a week, years of Krav Maga and other specialized training.

After watching a number of street brawls, where everyone throws haymakers and is afraid to get hit, the best move appears to be duck the haymaker, step to the dead side and unload a left hook. You get their momentum, your momentum, plenty of help from the leg and abdomen... puts big dents in the heavy bag.

If they didn't immediately distance themselves after the punch, getting inside and deploying knees to the groin would be much better because it is less likely captured by the videographers.

Having a plan similar to that puts on a level of confidence that is quickly and subconsciously picked up by aspiring Karens who look for more timid marks.

Shhhh, don't tell anyone, but -- I took a long plane ride last month.

And the airline's rule was, "Masks must be worn at all times during the entire flight."

Guess what happened?

Plane took off, everyone was wearing masks -- and then the cabin crew comes around UNMASKED to serve drinks, and everyone took their masks off to drink the drinks -- and basically no one ever put their masks back on for the entire flight, INCLUDING THE CREW. And posing the question as whether "it's worth" damaging the economy or whatever is fundamental error - there is no reason to think, including evidence, that any of the policies affected the outcomes (apart from how concentrated elderly vulnerable populations were treated/housed/whatever).

Just as the conventional wisdom and doctrine, including of CDC and WHO, have long said (and only Sweden and a few other jurisdictions followed).

That wisdom has two main parts. First is that these policies are not effective, for a prevalent virus. The second, obviously redundant, part is that the policies inflict unacceptable damage.

528 Are we sure the MI ad story isn't just the story of Trump telling Whitmer 'trust me, I'll pull out' and it's just gotten confused in the NYT's always excellent reporting? Because that would make more sense really...

There's plenty of loose fruit in our stores and they are unlikely to do a better job than *I* would (or at least could if I didn't have the mask keeping me from smelling the fruit). Middlest Kidlet is even better at fruit choosing (she got my mom's knack). We also confine our bakery purchases to day-old and get a lot of bargain meat that *has* to be chosen in person.

It was one thing to make substitutions when everything was a mess at the beginning. At this point I expect to get the items I actually want (important when trying to maintain keto and low cost) not whatever was convenient for the stuff grabber at the moment.

531 Their stock rises almost continuously, even during the Covid foofaraw.

Being that almost half the meals consumed in the former United States were outside the home prior to the Wuhan Death Miasma, whoever was able to exploit their suppliers/vendors to ramp up retail production/delivery of food is likely to do well.

Bezos and Walmart ain't done competing, and knowing how stone-age Whole Paycheck's ordering/inventory system was prior to Amazon coming in and applying their logistics genius to it; and also knowing the tech resources and long term plans from Kroger, I wouldn't go long on Kroger over other major grocery chains.

532 I seriously doubt that. John James (Republican) is running neck and neck with the Democrat incumbent (Gary Peters).

I hope so much James wins. He's impressive.

I have been looking to relocate to either eastern TN or NE Texas (e.g. Upshur county).

Would like recommendations for where 20ish acres and decent neighbors / community could be found.

But mostly need broadband to continue working.

Posted by: 🐧 at July 29, 2020 06:09 PM (C+evo)

534 East TN, you're looking at Gatlingburg/Pigeon Forge for the broadband requirements. Have had the kids out there for soccer tournaments for a decade. A little cheesy commercial in the town proper, but still lovely. Just outside you'll still get the broadband and the country is beautiful. Especially Gatlingburg. Guessing they're running sat though depending on how far out. Don't know enough to know for sure. Great hunting and fishing if you're into that.

535 Oh, Knoxville is more 'current.' And you'll have no problems with anything there. But growing like crazy, lots of traffic and college town. Which, depending on your POV, is kinda fun. (Don't know how long it would remain fun if I lived there though...)

538 I don't think David French was honey-dicked as Ace suggests, as that would imply he needed to be seduced. He almost certainly volunteered, enthusiastically and repeatedly, to be in the middle of a Devil's Threesome between Tapper and Stelter while manually relieving Michael Smerconish.

539 "French is one of the few nutters who is still defending the Iraq war.
Even a lunatic like John McCain back-paddled on that in his final years.
"
I'll defend the Iraq war.

I also don't care for David French.
