EMT 07/25/20

After 3 plus months of a bullshit lockdown whose only upside was sick people finally had the common courtesy to stay home and not give everyone else their stupid germs, we sent our daughter to a week-long day camp.

So of course she comes back with a nasty sinus bug.

At least she had fun.

I'm pretty sure you can't catch the covid from this post, but that dumbshit primadona Fauci would probably disagree.

lol, it is a funny ritual. I will be honest with you. I am ashamed to admit it but I missed out on the tear gas room. I was put on a detail that day. I still think it was less than what I experienced simply from what I have seen in videos etc. Sure it sucks, no question there.

My experience with CS gas was when they pulled the old countermarch ploy and hit us with a bunch of canisters of CS. I had one drop at my feet. I was proud that I was the shit with the gas mask and probably the first one to don it and call out gas, gas, gas. The problem is the freaking thing failed and the masked filled up with smoke. I decided it was best to move to another area. Other guys were bouncing off of trees. A straight hit of that stuff will mess up your day.

My main problem with churches being shut down is that people comply with them.

I'd gladly be led out in handcuffs for my faith.

You think they are gonna come arrest all 2000 in attendance at these mega churches?

Let them haul off the preacher. When he's led off, the elders should take the pulpit and continue preaching. When the elders are led off, the deacons should take the pulpit. When the deacons are led off, the congregants should take the pulpit. When they try to clear the congregants, go limp and make them drag you out.

Make them incarcerate your all, and while you are in jail, hold worship services in jail.

Have some faith. Serve God. Make the authorities do what they say they will.

We are like school ground kids handing over our lunch money to the bully without even being punched in the face first or fighting back.

You want to arrest me? Fine, it ain't the first time I've been arrested.

My main problem with churches being shut down is that people comply with them.

In doing so, they hurt the faithful horribly. Every Catholic bishop in the country should have said to the authorities, "The Church has celebrated Mass through war, famine, flood and pestilence long before there was any of the United States. We will do so now. The faithful are dispensed from their Sunday Obligation and pastors must take due precautions but every parish in this diocese will have public Masses every Sunday for those who wish to attend and receive the Sacraments. We are not defying civil laws but following divine ones." Except our bishops have the collective backbone of a banana.

I had no problem writing that their decision to align themselves with an organization which in their own words consider Trayvon Martin to have been murdered, and seeks to abolish the black nuclear family left me doubting their moral decision making ability in other instances as well, and that I would not be traveling the same road as them from here on out.

172 Calvary decision: When my uncle was with the 7th at Fort Riley in the mid-60's, there was one sergeant in the US Army who was allowed a beard, and he was the one who took care of the horses at the officers' riding club. It was in the newer of the very old stables built for actual horse troopers, and he casually pointed out stacks and stacks of McClellan saddles over in the corner.

Fast forward to Air Force special forces invading Afghanistan, and they had to borrow wooden saddles from the locals. All ours had been surplus'd. Goes to show that no form of warfare is permanently obsolete (there was once a Scythian war-chariot gap). And that's why we need a calvary decision.

Calgary decision: the people of western cities will never lose their love for rodeo, and chuck wagon races should not be outlawed.

I believe that part of the human condition is the sharing of viruses. Sometimes they kill, yes, but more often they are defeated by an activated immune system. It seems reasonable that an isolated human, without the seemingly constant low-level exposure to pathogens, will have a diminished immune response when it does get exposed.

It's as if human beings need an immune system that is in a perpetual state of readiness.

262 Sick people staying home isn't the only upside to the lockdown: people are washing their hands more. That's worth a 25% unemployment rate, right? When they lock us down again this fall, and the unemployment rate goes up to 40%, maybe there will be yet another upside. People floss their teeth more, or something.

The Three Stooges Dam isn't going nowhere.

All of the "reporting" on it so far is heavily laden with the typical sensationalism. Not just the over-the-top rhetoric and the eagerness for hundreds of millions to die, but also the pseudo-engineering crap like "eleven out of the twelve critical points have failed" - that is garbage that even Imperial College would be ashamed to communicate.

The rainfall is 10-12% over annual average. When you hear/read "unprecedented" assume they meant "not that all uncommon".

Floods happen all the time.

All of the stories are bullshit. Most hospital overcrowding is caused by staff reductions due to lack of voluntary or non-emergency procedures.

In May and June Texas lost hospital as the stupid Abbott directive forced hospitals to close surgical wings associated with non-emergency surgery. This in turn forced the mgmt to furlough nurses, OTs, etc to keep the hospitals afloat.

Another thing is that many hospitals took entire floors and converted those to WUFLU floor. So 1 or 2 people on that floors rendered the other rooms useless to non-WUFLU patients.

Yes, maybe you cant get grandma or ex converted to ashes overnight but 2 or 3 places I looked online have 72 hours turnaround on cremations.

conservatives don't defend it enough imo. I fully understand why Italian Americans have a special pride in Columbus Day. I laud them and would happily celebrate with them any time any place. But the Left and much of the nation is taught to hate Columbus Day not because they have anything against Italians, but because they decry the nation itself. That's a sea change for them right there from where they were a week ago.

There are no screaming "Trump is Hitler!" headlines at ABC or NBC and even a nice article in Politico about how Trump made a "necessary" call about closing down the RNC Convention in FL.

There is even a report out of Portland that "alleged arsonists and looter" have been arrested, mostly without the hysteria and condemnation of federal LE...

The Fairy Godmother notices two statues in the park, a man and a woman. They seem to be gazing longingly at each other, and have clearly been there for a century or more.
Moved, she brings the statues to life and tells them they have one hour to fulfill their dreams.
The couple go off into the bushes, followed by much thrashing, grunting, and chuckling.

Then the Fairy Godmother hears this exchange:

America loves Trump, its the political class that hates him and the Conventions are all about the political class.

333 I'll do that one when someone can define how many generations it takes to become 'indigenous'. The last five hundred years is a long time in the history of human migration, so long most people world-wide cannot trace their genealogy that far back.

That isn't true at all. The Thousand Genome Project and similar projects since then have all proven that we are very much closer related than we think.

Tracing through the Y-chromosome and using the regular timing of copy-errors between generations, researchers, working with other fields in historical science can do a great job of showing migration and integration through the ages.

OTOH, these companies that take your money and lie to you about your lineage based on DNA sample, can technically go back only three generations and then make guesswork for anything further back.

The fallout from the 1KGP is going to change our understanding of who we are, where we came from and who we are related to.
