Saturday Morning Coffee Break

My sentiment exactly!

The rules? Opine away or bloviate. Whatever trips your trigger. Just remember no running with sharp objects, don't pull the 'ettes hair and be nice to one another.

Remember, don't let the bastards or mosquitoes grind you down.

Have a great weekend!!

19 Day four of my WuFlu.

Went to the dr on Wednesday for what I thought was a sinis infection. Was told that WuFlu has mutated and its symptoms are now those of a sinus infection. Was tested on the spot, with no results (I won't have those until next Friday at the earliest) and told I have the WuFlu, and to go quarantine yourself.
Antibiotics have kicked Montezuma in the hind quarters. Sore throat is nearly gone, ear ache is down to tinnitus only, congestion comes and goes but is generally about 70% better. Never once ran a fever, temp checked about 4 times a day highest was 98.3 on the first day.

On Friday morning, Smash rolled out first thing with a 100 degree fever, body aches, and general fatigue. Her fever broke last night and she feels better already.

In 37 years of marriage, Smash has NEVER gotten sick from one of my numerous sinis infections. Maybe I did have it. Maybe I did give it to her. Junior-ette has no symptoms at all, damned healthy teenager.

If we had it, it was the mild version for sure.

25 This is just your weekly reminder that your historical parallel isn't 1930s Germany but pre-civil war Spain.

It's weird how the left does the exact same shit over and over again. For example, emptying prisons because justice and then prosecuting political enemies.

The present craziness is unsustainable. We're actually in free-fall now, so just accept that things are going to get worse before they get better.

Don't let that depress you. You'll see "news" reports packed with lies from start to finish, especially about Barr, Trump, Durham, etc.

Unless you hear it from the actual people, assume it is a lie.

37 Somebody on one of Insty's threads posted this photo of an AOC tweet, dated 5/30/2020, that she later deleted. It says that it's vital for the government to keep businesses shut down until after Election Day, because Trump must be defeated, and if that means some jobs are lost or some businesses closed, it's "a small price to pay" to defeat Trump.

https://preview.tinyurl.com/ybz436ly

It's certainly a small price for her to pay, since it's not going to be her job that's lost or her business that goes under because the government is kneeling on its throat.

Just another example of how the left is willing to literally destroy peoples' lives in order to wrest the presidency from Trump.

This is why we should be happy. Higher education is committing mass suicide before our very eyes.

The left is entirely dependent on a very fragile ecosystem of grants and grifts, held together with gossamer threads. They are now setting off tac nukes all over it.

Lots of colleges going to go under.

Public schools are also going to collapse. My very liberal district is openly mulling going with online classes and parents are responding that they may as well home school.

I'll be interested to see if these people will be willing to keep up the illusion that the covid is about to kill us all at the price of gutting both higher ed and public schools. I think they're just dumb enough to do it.

You don't hear the mob talking about Yuengling anymore because they know they are wasting their time and when they lose, it shows they are a paper tiger.

Oh wait, that wasn't Trump who did that, that was Obama. It's an object lesson that people who live in Blue jurisdictions, with Dem attorney generals, have got to get out and move into the country, or another state. We used to live in a nation where minority rights were protected under the law, but no longer - if you live in a place like St. Louis, or San Fran, or Portland, or Seatttle - or NYC - then IF you try to defend yourself, your weapons will be taken away BY your government and YOU will be charged with the crime.

One has to approach things as a happy warrior. Don't focus on things that get you sad, focus on all the wins, for they are very, very many.

I mean, the left literally hired *actors* to play Black Panthers because the real ones apparently weren't available.

The entire armed might of their show of force was hired off of Linkedin and was wearing vegan combat gear, complete with crappy .22LR knockoffs of real guns (which I'm are are well-maintained and won't jam or misfeed under stressful conditions).

It's the same everywhere else. Their goons are brave because the local cops cover for them. Outside of these tiny enclaves, they are much less bold.

Look at the big picture, look at the trend lines. We are winning, bigly. The left is going nuts and wrecking their own institutions out of despair, not hope of victory.

105 China is currently facing a problem that could be even more devastating than the China virus. Torrential rains have been falling on parts of China for the last few weeks causing massive flooding and landslides.

The Yangtze River is well above flood levels and rising and much of the region is under the highest threat level for flooding. The massive 3 Gorges Dam can't release water fast enough to handle the load and it keeps getting worse.

400 million people live downstream of the dam which has been controversial since the day it was built over concerns it was built with the same exacting standards everything else in China is built with. If China doesn't get some relief soon they are in deep poo.

I was in a job once, years ago, where almost everyone hated the management (except a few suckups) and the mood was terrible. BUT the fear of being fired daily was palpable. So, working there became a daily game of ostentatiously showing how you were doing everything by the book, while covertly trying to come up with any way to sabotage the business as possible. When almost every employee is secretly trying to sabotage everything from the inside every day, the business doesn't last too long. I finally got fed up enough to just quit when I'd had as much as I could take - and I stayed longer than I should.

oh, and it was a major corp, too, they're still around, although most of their North American operations have folded.

The biggest problem is that the right made a habit of giving up every time it lost a battle. The left never does. They suffer a defeat, regroup, and attack again.

But the right - led by Conservatism, Inc., has accepted the leftist narrative so we have gotten used to slow surrender.

No more. We have to not only defend what we have, but take back what was lost. The 'good old days' CAN COME BACK.

The current situation actually makes it more likely since it was "politics as usual" that was holding us back.

That's why the left is self-defeating. The existing ecosystem was the one THEY built to serve THEM. Smashing it frees the right to roll things back, and cripples their power base.

122 Good morning-

If you want a glimpse into the mindset that is driving CO Gov. Polis' decision-making, check out this laughable interactive COVID modeling page put out by the CO School of Public Health.

https://cucovid19.shinyapps.io/colorado/

The graph shows the ccomputer modeled projection of daily COVID cases based on four (and only four) parameters- distancing, masks, isolation of active cases and contact tracing.

Play with the slide bars. For instance, a single change in the percentage of people social distancing among younger people from the baseline of 65% to say 60% while holding everything else constant results in a curve of projected COVID cases that is three times as high as the historical peak from back in April and lasting from Sep 2020 to at least May 2021.

This is **cking cartoonish!!!!

And Polis calls this science. Even the damn scientists call this science.

And when on-campus enrollment drops, what are the Title IX Stasi expected to do to amuse themselves? I bet they'll go online and hunt for perps that way.

None will ever be let go because they run the school now. Current MSU president is a terrible, useless tool who made the Wharton staff get "retrained" because someone complained a hanging display reminded them of lynching.

136 Albert Watkins, the McCloskeys' attorney, told Fox News that "If Kimberly Gardner wants to press charges against two attorneys who are protecting their home and their family and themselves on their own property, I will tell you that it will be nothing short of the proverbial cluster fuck."

LOL, I don't know anything about this guy, but I like him so far.

A mob, some of whom were armed, breaks down a private gate on private property, forces their way into a private community, confronts and threatens the lives of a private couple standing on their own lawn. The local DA, Soros-funded stooge Kim Gardner, threatens to charge the homeowners with "violent assault" on the mob, because the couple held guns. Gardner has already released all the protesters who were arrested in her jurisdiction, but it's this couple she is going to charge. Because they had the audacity to try and defend their own lives and their own home from the mob.

Fuck her and fuck Soros. I hope this couple and their lawyers ream Gardner so hard she can't sit down on her fat, incompetent ass for months.

Back when MN was testing only those exhibiting symptoms, we were getting only about a 10% positive rate. I imagine many of the negative tests were run-of-the-mill flu.

Every two years they send new people there and it's hard for people to get adjusted. Her main complaint- "There are all Republicans." Well, gee, what did you expect in rural NJ in a County that almost always goes Republican?" (I didn't say that). She also said "They don't realize I'm black-(maybe because she is very light skinned and bi-racial) Do you need to tell them that before you get to know them? (Didn't say that either.) She said the head of the KKK in this area lives eight miles away. Why did somebody (I think the former pastor) need to tell her that?. He's apparently not a member of her church. Is he going to come and burn a cross on her lawn? If he's head of the KKK he's probably about 70 years old and probably if he's a church goer has his own church to go to.

It really would be better to send a older person who is good at pastoral care and understood their background and cultural millieu, but her husband is a teacher in the local school system.

271 Day four of my WuFlu.

Went to the dr on Wednesday for what I thought was a sinis
infection. Was told that WuFlu has mutated and its symptoms are now
those of a sinus infection. Was tested on the spot, with no results (I
won't have those until next Friday at the earliest) and told I have the
WuFlu, and to go quarantine yourself.

Antibiotics have kicked Montezuma in the hind quarters. Sore throat
is nearly gone, ear ache is down to tinnitus only, congestion comes and
goes but is generally about 70% better. Never once ran a fever, temp
checked about 4 times a day highest was 98.3 on the first day.

On Friday morning, Smash rolled out first thing with a 100 degree
fever, body aches, and general fatigue. Her fever broke last night and
she feels better already.

In 37 years of marriage, Smash has NEVER gotten sick from one of my
numerous sinis infections. Maybe I did have it. Maybe I did give it to
her. Junior-ette has no symptoms at all, damned healthy teenager.

If we had it, it was the mild version for sure.

330 Fenelon, I don't know why race is important in this situation either. Jesus said he spoke to everyone, and I believe we should too.
If she believes her new congregations are subtly racist, then it is her opportunity to show what a true Christian is and show that God is more important that skin.
She might learn that the congregation is less racist than she thinks as well.

It is hardly hiding out from militias in Northern Africa, but it seems to how and where she is called to minister now.

I am glad there are people like you to talk about issues like this and to show how it is important to consider them. Personally my response would be to listen carefully and then ask something like, "Could you pass the pepper, please?" I am not known for my depth or subtlety in dealing with other peoples' crises.

people go on and on about what is real cheese and what is not. Most of the time they are talking out of their asses. Conservatives cheerfully joined in. Americans CANNOT TOLERATE individuality. What you are IS determined by when you were born, your class, race, gender, who you want/are sexually attracted to, etc.

Soon, Americans will completely reject individual rights if they haven't already done so in favor of group rights.

It was a group meeting and I don't want to be confrontational, so I just listened but I have been the interim at a church following someone who wasn't the ethic makeup of the congregation and I think the problem was their controlling pastoral style and not their ethnicity. That church (mainly white) now has another ethnic pastor and it's been fine because he's older and not so controlling.

Particulate masks have a check valve that lets you exhale easily, which is what you want when you're trying to do sanding or something without fogging up your safety glasses.

Doesn't do dick to protect anyone else from you, but nobody seems to notice and it ticks the boxes. I can't tell if the people I see wearing them are in on the joke or not.

So the mask seal to your face doesn't break from overpressure when you exhale. If that seal breaks the gap can allow contaminants/pathogens in when you breath in.

These masks only protect you. They do not protect the people near you. As we are required to wear masks to protect other people, they are 100% useless for that task.

If you have to tell me you are a racial minority, it's really hard to pretend that people hate you because of your skin.

The whole point of Jim Crow was that it worked against people because of how they looked. Mixed people who could 'pass as white' avoided it, which highlighted how unjust it was.

But now we have people combing through their family trees to prove that they are a minority, which shows just how irrelevant it is.

And from a person claiming to be a Christian minister it's deeply disappointing.

"You are old," said the youth; one would hardly suppose
That your eye was as steady as ever;
Yet you balanced an eel on the end of your nose -
What made you so awfully clever?"

"I have answered three questions, and that is enough,"
Said his father; "don't give yourself airs!
Do you think I can listen all day to such stuff?
Be off, or I'll kick you down stairs!"

gee, what did you expect in rural NJ in a County that almost always
goes Republican?" (I didn't say that). She also said "They don't realize
I'm black-(maybe because she is very light skinned and bi-racial) Do

I just don't care and never have cared what color someone's skin is. I only begin my dislike if the other party is clearly racist towards me. That's when I disengage and let them go along without me in their lives. I've only gotten violent when a racist pursued me to attempt to rub my nose in it. Then. Then I let that person know in physical terms that racism is wrong especially when it's directed at me, mine, or those I care for.

476 I'm concerned that Barr and Durham's investigations will be another Lucy-and-the-football moment for conservatives.

477 I don't know that she's a racist. She hasn't mentioned anything about their race; It's just that she wants them to know she's black.

Isn't that racist? Wanting to be identified by the color of your skin and not content of character?

I've considered having an indoor flower garden, but I don't know how to really go about it. I think probably building a hydroponic/soil box into a wall with a 400W+ switchable ballast for metal hydride and high-pressure sodium lights would be the answer. Maybe 2, if I go with that low wattage.

The trick is making it attractive, and I'm not a finish carpenter
