25 This painting doesn't met current standards. She needs to have a mask painted on her if she is going to be out, which she shouldn't be but her white privilege is just running amok.

130 I like this painting. It is a simple study in color and reminds me a bit of the bright, homey scenes from the Sandi artists I enjoy. There is a charm in the little girl playing with the toy boat that echoes the direction and list of the real boats on the lake. I assume the girl is young, (six or seven?) because she isn't aware of the breeze on her dress. She's busy playing and that's all that matters. I would think any parent or grandparent of little girls would appreciate this work.

Thanks, CBD. What a pleasant image to end the week.

197 I am beginning to think that the continued closure of schools is a metropolitan area integration/busing plan. If the suburban moms won't send the kids, they'll get students from the nearby "underprivileged" areas and shift the bill to the suburbs.

I learned yesterday that a big majority of locals do not want schools to reopen and favor the virtual plan. A friend who owns a big estate sale warehouse told me that he had to clear out his entire upstairs as someone offered him big money to rent it out. Why? A school for the local Indian immigrant population. A significant portion of the parents seem to have made other plans for full day programming.

HIGHLY recommend 'That Dark and Bloody River' by Allen Eckert (spelling?). It tells the story of the settling of the Ohio River region and conflicts between Natives and settlers. Very captivating, sometimes quite violent (of course). Doesn't take sides or proselytize. Great book, easy read.

222 The fight over Hagia Sophia should be examined a bit more than anyone in this country is doing. What's happening is that Erdogan is trying to cast away the legacy of Kemal Ataturk and the other secular Turks of the early 20th Century, who were opposed to Islam and it's control over the State. Instead, he was trying to resurrect the old Ottoman practices and cast himself as the new Caliph, entitled to Soverieignty over the Muslim World.

This comes as his popularity inside Turkey is hitting an all-time low. Clearly, he's trying to enlist all of the Radical Muslims who's he's let into his country from Syria into his side in any conflict with real Turks who are tired of his act.

In other words, its those who are currently in charge of the State Apparatus bringing in radical outsiders to try to help them keep their own people oppressed. Sounds familiar, no wonder it makes the NYT happy.

department being corrupt" story would have been a blatant lie. However,
by hiring an attorney, Sullivan could now tell the attorney his fairy
tale, and the attorney could then file the answer under oath. Sullivan
doesn't want to go under oath because he is afraid of his fairy tale
collapsing if he has to defend it himself, and his actual goal of
covering Obama's bare ass, might become apparent.

Definitely got to recommend the Horde check it out if you're into such things.

D. Exceptions
The requirement to wear a face covering does not apply to following:

6. Persons with health conditions that prohibit wearing a face covering. Nothing in this
Order shall require the use of a face covering by any person for whom doing so would be
contrary to his or her health or safety because of a medical condition.

Any person who declines to wear a face covering because of a medical condition shall
not be required to produce or carry medical documentation verifying the stated condition nor

That one has some of the best jungle fighting stories ever - one that really stands out in my memory is how one of the 10 man recon teams got away when they accidentally bumped into a division sized NVA force. They were on a narrow jungle trail, couldn't do more than single file, with jungle to thick to move through on either side. All ten carried submachine guns, and their escape plan was that all of them would line up along the trail. First guy would empty his clip into the oncoming soldiers, then turn and take off running down the trail behind them. As soon as he was out of the way, 2nd guy would empty his clip and take off. And then the 3rd, and then the 4th. The attackers would give up on running straight into the that long enough for them to get away.

After it improved a bit, I went to the urgent care place. They diagnosed it as bacterial sinusitis and prescribed some antibiotics. Within a few days the symptoms were gone.

Now, they said bacterial. But what if the lessening of the symptoms was just because the infection had run its course, and the improvement had nothing to do with the antibiotic? Is it possible I had the Hong Kong Flooey?

I actually do that. My hearing is none too good anyway, and I guess I rely more upon lip reading that I thought I did. So I'm at the Pick and Pull auto wreckers, and the staff all masked (sheesh!), and I have to keep asking the counter girls to "speak up, I can't hear you!"

How about "Excuse me, do I know you?" and "You really should mind your own business." Don't even acknowledge what they say.

I heard yesterday (from someone's Facebook) that a Karen approached another woman in a store and scolded her, saying "You really should be wearing a mask!".

The non-Karen replied, "Oh, I didn't realize we were sharing our thoughts with strangers, but since we are, I think purple really is not your color and you could stand to lose about 35 pounds."

Kinda freaked me out went to the doctor they checked me out said its a thing going around, lasting longer than normal colds/flu. This was before anyone had really heard of Wuhan. I fly a lot, or used to, and came into contact with thousands of people from Europe and Asia at airports. Pretty good chance I had it I think.

Same here. Last week of December, 1 st week of January. Sick as a dog for four days and on the 5th day, poof, like magic. All well.
Posted by: rickb223 at July 10, 2020 10:50 AM (QFqpA)

***********************

Same.
Started with my sister in law (a nurse) getting a very bad "upper respiratory infection" (but tested flu negative) in early December that turned into pneumonia quickly. By Christmas she could not walk across a room without getting out of breath. She had to get oxygen treatments, etc.

Right after Christmas, my brother got a very bad fever and cough (also tested flu negative). Fever lasted 5 days & cough lingered. His kidney enzyme levels were all messed up. Doctor could not explain it.

By New Year's day I had a cough that was so sharp and hurt so bad it felt like a knife was going into my chest. I've had bronchitis before -- this cough was 100x worse. I was so exhausted there was 2 days I literally could not get out of bed I was so weak. I also tested flu negative. Doctor told me there was a strange upper respiratory infection with a cough that presented like the flu but was not the flu. He theorized that it was a new strain of flu.

NONE OF OUR CHILDREN (all under GOT SICK. We all commented at the time that usually it is them (from school, etc. being the little petri dishes of disease that they are) who get us sick, but this time they were fine.

I'm 100% convinced we all 3 had it -- my sister in law contracted it from the hospital, which is why she got it the worse, my brother from living in the same house with her (who got it the 2nd worse) and me, just coming in contact with them with holiday visits, the least worse.

In the '90's and early '00's I wasted a lot of time and money at the local "Gentleman's Club" and there were a lot of Russian girls working there. I got to know some of them and one thing that struck me was that if it was a particularly slow night, one might complain to me that she only made $ 1000.--half of which she had to share with the House. She was accustomed to pulling in $2000.
