I always enjoy paintings by Steen. I see the development of Rembrandt's style in Steen's approach: individual faces and figures, the use of light to set a mood and emphasize certain colors, and his use of brilliant colors where appropriate. Steen adds to that with a sense of humor in many of his works. It is art to be pleasant and enjoyed by the viewer.

I think I know what the Strzok insurance policy was. It was General Flynn.

On January 24, 2017 it was Strzok and Pientka that were sent into the White House to interview Flynn. Both Strzok and Pientka said they thought Flynn was telling the truth and then Strzok and Page edited the 302 to make it appear he was not telling the truth and Pientka has remained a virtual ghost to this day. My father was a strong believer that true wisdom came by way of a 2" wide leather belt. Verbal threats, negative reinforcement and manual labor were also tools he deployed.
To keep a unified parental front, my mother woukd often thrash me with a wooden spoon with such intensity that, in retrospect, I believe she would have made a wonderful speed metal drummer. Her technique was lacking with a flyswatter which I often deftly avoided with a quick hip thrust here and there and she did not get enough whip effect to make the Hot Wheels track a suitable deterrent. Looking back, it was excellent training. Now when someone is verbally deriding me or physically threatening me, my mind goes very calm and I often smile while my brain works out ways in which I might destroy them. It's amazing how so much of our comedy for the last 60 years traces back to Your Show of Shows, by Sid Caesar in the 1950's.
Young writers for Sid Caesar who were just getting their start in the business: Mel Brooks, Carl Reiner, Neil Simon, Woody Allen, and several others who, while not household names today, went on to write and direct many of the big comedy hits we remember. The Dick van Dyke show was based on Carl Reiner's memories of working for Sid Caesar; the movie "My Favorite Year" was based on Mel Brooks version of the same thing. His ending of the game of "find Ryan" in a pile of dog tags while a line of paratroopers walks by is key to that. The whole point of the film is about finding the point of the fight again. The thematic thrust of the opening is that Tom Hanks' character is so desensitized to the death around him (like the poor bastard moment when the guy gets shot in the head right next to him) that he can't really see anything about the war other than his own survival. Ryan is the ultimate breaking point of that. They find him, offering him the ticket home they all want, and he refuses it because he has a mission and his new brothers to help. Read some tales from people on the set, they said the entire cast broke down laughing several times because of the improv jokes Billy Crystal kept cracking as Miracle Max. Almost all of his part was improv, and the people on the scene said it was a real shame that all of his best stuff had to be cut because it was so damned raunchy!
