The Morning Rant: Minimalist Edition

punk-monkey.jpg

Ah yes...The Heritage Foundation. Looking at the board of directors it should be a solid place, but this mewling quim has disgraced herself and conservatism with her desperate pleas to be considered a "good conservative" to preserve her invitations to the best cocktail parties.

“Racism in America is a fatal wound,” the author lamented. “Every time another incident occurs we put a Band-Aid on it, but the Band-Aid keeps falling off. Band-Aids are not enough to ever stitch this country back together.”

She went on: “Nothing can bring George Floyd back to life. But if his horrific and needless death proves to be a turning point to make Americans finally end the ugly racism that stains our nation’s history and afflicts us like a cancer of the soul, he will leave behind a legacy we sorely need.”

Did you throw up a little?

The Con of the Surrender Cons

It is a reflex, unfortunately, that's commonplace on the establishment Right, an infuriating capitulation to our country's most insidious foes. The Left intends to destroy the nation and use race as the carpet-bomb--and that approach is working even as blacks continue to make solid economic, occupational, and educational gains.
Read that again...Black America is being used as a tool with which to destroy America just when there was some good economic news. If it hasn't become blatantly obvious that the Democrat/Progressive cabal in America does not care a whit about any minority group except as a bludgeon with which to beat middle-class America, then I am at a loss. How much more evidence is required before American minorities realize that they are being played; kept in inner-city poverty, and servitude in service to the Democrat/Progressive machines that run those cities.

At least Tammany Hall gave some value for the votes they bought. What has Black America received for their loyalty? 50 years of violence and poverty and hopelessness, supported by an crypto-Marxist educational complex that has taught three generations that they are inferior and must rely on big government for everything.

Black and minority support for President Trump is slightly better than for his Republican predecessors, but is it enough? Or is it just a blip? What is sad is that Trump's economic reforms have provided an unprecedented opportunity for minorities to emerge from their metaphorical slavery (and the Democrats are the masters) and enter the middle class. Hopefully that message has not been subsumed in the vile race baiting that passes for journalism and news, but I'm not holding my breath.

My take on the Bubba Wallace debacle.
The pit crews and garage staff for Nascar are no longer the 40-50 year olds that were in racing for years from the local dirt tracks on up. PIt crews today are not even recruited from tracks, or car engineering schools, etc. Nascar has been recruiting college athletes for a while now, no car knowledge is even required. What is required is that pit crew members need to be extremely fit, fast, and able to run, land on knees, carry tires, while wearing full on firesuits with enclosed helmets, etc on tracks that reach temps of 110 degrees. These guys(yes there have been a few women) have to practice all week long in addition to traveling and working at the tracks being raced.

The garage crews are a combination of college educated engineers, mechanics, etc. You see older guys in the garage that have been around for a while in Nascar, but the guys doing the actual work on the cars are again, 25-35 year olds. Team shops back in NC is where you find the older guys, the corporate engine builders, various guys who are from the manufacturers, etc.

So , IMO, these young woke guys who have been through the college indoctrination as athletes were pissed off at the plane that flew the confederate flag over the track on Sunday, along with the parade of cars flying the flag outside the track, and one decided to strike back. With the noose hoax. He made sure that Wallace wasn't involved in actually seeing it, ( considering the drivers are not supposed to be in the garage areas at all due to Covid right now, that was easy) and he took the story to Nascar officials. Phelps and other big wigs were not in Alabama as far as I know, due to Covid Nascar had agreed to keep all non essential personel away from the tracks. Even Jeff Gordon and his co announcer were not in Alabama, they are back in Charlotte calling the races from HQ.

Nascar ran with this and now they have to figure out what to do since they were caught with this hoax.

----------------------------

How long has it taken our side to figure out we've been played by Republicans?

Republicans offer no sincere alternative to anyone. Trump has offered one, and it has resulted in 40% approval among blacks.

Sure, Republican cities on the whole are better and safer, but on a national level - in the public consciousness - Republicans offer zero alternative and will turn their backs on black Americans as they have turned their backs on their most loyal supporters time and again.

I suggest it's time *we* wake up and realize that we have no party and that is the sole reason why the Party of Race Terror gets away with 90% of the shit they do.

+++++++++++++
Okay. So that's the position. America is racism, America's racism is a mortal condition, superficial treatments for America's racism are ineffective, and we need to rethink responses to American racism.

Is it just me, or is she calling for something very much like "fundamental transformation" of America? Moreover, not for "fundamental transformation" back to constitutional basics, but to something new and "racially just?"

If I am not way off base in this interpretation, then how is such a fundamental transformation into something new even remotely "conservative" by any definition? What exactly *is* the Heritage Foundation in that case? Because based on this, it is not a conservative institution by any measure and it is instead a radical revolutionary organization.

It's my sincere hope that everyone who has benefited from PDT's growth policies now understand just how fragile it is. We were just starting to take Bronco Bama's economic boot off our collective necks and then the ChiComs decided to unleash a biological war upon us. Then their progressive counterparts here did and are doing all they can to squash all those gains from the past few years.

I sure hope people wake up to the damage that progressives in both parties will do if not purged from our politics. Kick out all the progs and make damned good and certain they stay out. If this means replacing all the spineless quislings in the current iteration of the GOPe, then so be that, too. If you won't stand up against this existential threat, then you have no business in politics. We cannot afford any further waffling.

What is needed now is strength against all our enemies, both foreign and domestic.

54 I guess my problem with all of this is that I disagree with the premise. Racism is NOT an American Problem(TM). It is a Human failing. It is not something we can "cure." There is no cure for hatred. Or envy. Or prejudice. There is no cure for so many of the
weaknesses of man. We can only, everyday, fight through deliberate
effort to be good, and reasonable, and forgiving, and charitable, and
civil. Because the reality is, given our nature, we could every one of
us easily embrace that tribal violence and wreak havoc. It is literally
in our nature. Peace is not. This, in short, is why family and religion

Conservative Treehouse has it nailed. If you haven't seen their article, go look - photographic proof of the kind that NASCAR never anticipated.

And given how blatant it is - NASCAR is in on it, I believe the NASCAR office set it up as a publicity stunt, and Walker is just a willing peon following their orders. It's too obvious and too lame for anyone in NASCAR at the scene not to know exactly what's going on; ergo, they are complicit.

Remember me saying that Mayor Jenny and her political allies were the ones behind CHAZ/CHOP the entire time? That's sure turned out to be true. Same thing goes here; this is an Op being run by NASCAR, and an intensely stupid one.

Posted by: clutch cargo at June 23, 2020 11:12 AM (8B6Ng)

Because of the secrecy in Nascar regarding cars and what's in them. Anyone caught photographing and posting anything from the garage areas is subject to immediate firing. These guys know this, it's part of their culture.

Remember, there is almost no media allowed on the tracks right now, and what media is there is not allowed to wander around the garages, the motor homes, etc. Covid restrictions, Nascar agreed to a bunch of restrictions in order to be able to start up. They were the first organized sport to want to go back up and running in the USA, so all the restrictions were the price they paid.

I also think that these crews know this was a hoax. But it's for the cause, so it's ok. They aren't going to speak out or jeopardize it in any manner because they know they will be fired or at least ostracized for doubting.

88 My rebuttal to Heritage: If racism is a fatal wound to the United States, and can be passed from government to government as it clearly must have been to transmit from the British to us, then there is no escape. Even a radically different government could not escape it, as this remedy has already been tried through revolution and civil war, and purportedly did not yield the desired results. The only outcome of a fatal wound is death, so the solution would be to dissolve the concept of the American nation, have a national divorce, and proceed as independent nations.

If you're not suggesting a national divorce, Heritage, then you didn't believe a word you printed.

98 Racism is individual and personal and the only possible "fixes" for it are individual and personal. I think that we were making really good progress as people generally seemed to all agree that everyone needed to be taken as an individual and judged only on what they themselves did or didn't do. No one was being asked to "check" anything about themselves with a mirror.

The notion of individual racism and individual responsibility for how one treats other people, or judges them an on what basis is changed to an idea of collective racism. "Check yourself" isn't any more weighty than pushing up your sleeve and evaluating your tan. Responsibility doesn't exist. It can't.

And that's the secret - no matter the public theater aspects, checking your skin tone means that it's not your fault, whatever it is. No one has to look at their own behavior, attitudes or judgement because those things aren't even racism anymore. Do the little public song-and-dance and all your friends praise you for it.

There's a REASON that the collectivist left are blind to their own screaming racist bullshit, and it's because they don't believe that they CAN be racist by their own definitions.

So they'll tell you yet again that black people are emotional and criminal and they're better than you because they support people of color and you don't.

100 54 I guess my problem with all of this is that I disagree with the premise.
This, in short, is why family and religion
are the pillars of a good life and civilization. And this is why the
left wants both of them destroyed.

136 I think the decades-long attempt to erase the N-word from the world's vocabulary has had an opposite effect. Spoken only in hushed tones, the euphemism for the offensive word, instead of disappearing, has actually grown to a level of mystic awesome power. A magical word if you will. I would be shocked if there is a 10-year-old in this country who doesn't know what "the N-word" is. 137 Which is why this problem is NOT going to get better. Some college grads will wake up to reality and adjust. Many or most (?) never will. A new cadre comes out of universities every year to renew the "charge!" to authoritarian collectivism, because they've been taught to do that.

We need to attack the university system and either destroy the Marxists ability to control it, or discredit and replace it.

The phenomenon of rapidly expanding costs, student loan indentures, and graduates being unable to find the jobs they were promised gives us a good angle to attack from.

It goes something like this: "You trusted these people and they lied to you. They promised you a future that didn't exist. They convinced you to give them tens if not hundreds of thousands to prepare you for that future that didn't exist. Their salaries have grown, their staffs have grown, Academia is living higher on the hog than it ever had, and you're holding the bill with nothing to show. They told you to blame Capitalism. They lied about everything else. Why would you trust them about this?"

141 54 I guess my problem with all of this is that I disagree with the premise. Racism is NOT an American Problem(TM). It is a Human failing. It is not something we can "cure." There is no cure for hatred. Or envy. Or prejudice. There is no cure for so many of the
weaknesses of man.
We can only, everyday, fight through deliberate effort to be good, and reasonable, and forgiving, and charitable, and civil. Because the reality is, given our nature, we could every one of us easily embrace that tribal violence and wreak havoc. It is literally in our nature. Peace is not. This, in short, is why family and religion are the pillars of a good life and civilization. And this is why the left wants both of them destroyed.

Right?

Also, it's human nature -- please show me one society in human history that didn't value its own tribe over others (as a survival instinct, for starters).

And it's not popular to say it, but. . . this gets back to an inconvenient aspect of the "hate" business (hate speech, hate crime, etc.): its not illegal to hate. The emotion "hate" - not actions motivated by hate - just can't be declared off-limits. This is also part of being human, having free thought, etc..If someone somewhere irrationally (or rationally) hates a person/group/organization, whatever, that is their prerogative.

Posted by: Meade Lux Lewis at June 23, 2020 11:18 AM (sWM8x)

Excellent point. And there is a good reason. He probably isn't a racist. He's just a thug with a badge.

But the end game is to create assumptions about every single interaction with the police...that it is being driven by systemic, structural racism.
Posted by: CharlieBrown'sDildo at June 23, 2020 11:26 AM (dLLD6)

Right. Chauvin doesn't have to be a racist. It's entirely irrelevant if he's a racist or not. Systemic, structural racism means it doesn't matter if he's a thug with a badge. It doesn't matter if the same percent or more of cop interactions with whites end in death. Racism isn't something done by people to other people anymore.

Or so we're told.

Chauvin is an individual. There's not enough power to be gained by condemning an individual.

This is all really collectivist ideology dressed up and then everyone pretends they're talking about the same things when they're not. Look at the way the "woke" defend people of color? Every single excuse for barbarism (even if the antifa sh*ts are mostly white) and would *you* be able to be civilized if civilization was so against you? But it's so flagrantly paternalistic, attitudes toward client races for all intents and purposes. Because no one is actually a PERSON. They're just representatives of collectives.

Most definitely. I'm still amazed at how one incident (King George) propelled this into full-blown criticality. Racism (according to the newly awakened) now permeates every nook and cranny of American society. Ostensibly reasonable people have bought into this without reservation.

------

It invalidates the idea that we, as a country, made progress on race relations.

Open, hostile, prejudiced based on race isnt anywhere near as bad today as it was in first two thirds of the 20th century.

Most white folks today acknowlege that and actually try to live in a colorblind manner.

Well.... that erodes into the power of the race hustlers and the poverty pimps if things are getting better. Hence, todays racial theory posits that the mere act of having the temerity to be born white makes one a racist. Its inherent. You cant avoid it. If youre white.... your racist.

They further posit that being black prohibits one from being racist because blacks dont have the power to be racists.

Having created this binary racial condition allows the agitators to grievance monger at will once again and restores their race based arguments.

Posted by: fixerupper at June 23, 2020 11:36 AM (8XRCm)

We should be working for the end of all class definitions, including race.

There are no classes. It's not a fundamental condition of human existence.

The construct of race has become the western version of castes. I suspect it only exists anymore as a tool of the race hustlers and for keeping people bound to entitlements.

166 Trump was confronting China on trade ... China launches a bio-weapon at US (release accidental or not, doesn't matter, they closed flights to China, opened them to the West, after silencing doctors that told the truth).

Trump had record low UE for Hispanics and Blacks, Dems launch a race war to get them "black on the Dem plantation, back in chains". They could not be more obvious ... same old playbook, MFM fully on board, scripts written in advance.

But for their race wars, they just need the 10% or so to get violent, while the working moms and dads lament that the gangs are given mayoral support to burn their neighborhoods. Floyd's son denounced the violence and destruction ... so have many others from the left.

This is a Dem Op, but all the cartels that feel Trump may shake their grifter trees are pushing every rito button they own. So the Dems are joined by CCP money/influence -- WallStreet likes the stimulus, but still wants globalism -- and the GayLord Obama mafia are all pulling the strings they still have from the Obama years (many still inside the bureaucracy).

imo Trump has played it pretty well, but it is like The Exorcist, the demons don't come out without green pea soup and heads spinning ... lots of "your mother knits socks in hell" abusive language toward the things we hold dear ... tick tock, more prayer and fasting, but also other aggressive/supportive actions also needed.

What I think happened - NASCAR took a huge financial hit from the cancellation of much of the season; also, they were facing a drop off in interest even when it did come back. Some millennial Assistant in the Office of Bad Ideas pitched the idea - "Hey, Guess what??? We can get a whole lot of minority sports fans interested in our sport if we give them a Hero to cheer for! We'll make millions!!!"

And so they started grooming Walker, and they the George Floyd riots started, and same guy said "Hey Boss! Lets make him be victim of Race Hatred, too! It'll be great, think of the publicity!!!" And so they cooked up this Noose scheme, which was cheap and easy, and only then went to guys like Petty and said "hey you've got millions tied up in this thing of ours, you'd better back us up here or you're likely gonna lose everything!" and so Perry is stuck, locked into a real bad plan that he can't get out of.

BUT I think they know there's a problem - just like with Jussie, the execution of the plan was done too stupidly, and even they know they don't dare show us the "proof" because they know we'd laugh. So they've got to tough it out and pretend that there was a crime, while they refuse to show anyone any actual evidence of such a crime.

For whatever reason, Richard seem overly protective and fond of Wallace. He has always been supportive of his drivers but he seems over the top for Wallace. I don't know if it is because of Wallace being half black( in case you all don't know , Wallace's father is white ) or because Wallace has emotional issues.( Wallace came out last year saying he was being treated for depression and was hailed as a hero then for disclosing it) . Petty has been outspoken , probably the natural result of being 83 and feeling like he can say whatever the hell he wants now.

Wallace has always had this loud, goofy personality in which he did kind of off the wall stuff on his Nascar facebook and other drivers, fans, etc. thought he was hilarious. He's been spoken to by Nascar a couple of times for his hijinks,*( and admits to being in the King's doghouse a couple of times) but I think now, they won't do anything no matter what he says or does because of race. He reminds me of Ezekiel Elliott of Ohio State and the Cowboys, just without the boatload of talent. He comes from a well to do family as did Elliott, is spoiled, and has found his cause celeb that no one can correct him for. Elliott went wilding when he first got to the NFL, and it's taken a few years for him to manage to stay out of trouble, although he's on the BLM bandwagon( despite no evidence he ever suffered from racism) . Wallace may or may not mature out of this, he has talent to drive, but he is easily distracted and I think he relishes the attention his new found role is bringing.

Regardless, Nascar's grotesque attempt on capitalizing on this is going to be a serious problem for them. They have lost so much viewership and attendance over the last decade and thinking they can fit into the "pop" culture is the worst kind of marketing for them. They are an extremely expensive sport to support and they have allowed the corporate sponsors to take over and dictate their entity. It's not going to end well.

188 We should be working for the end of all class definitions, including race.

There are no classes. It's not a fundamental condition of human existence.

The construct of race has become the western version of castes. I suspect it only exists anymore as a tool of the race hustlers and for keeping people bound to entitlements.

We defeated aristocracy and its pretensions, I'm perfectly fine with destroying race as well. Our best future is E Pluribus Unum, a united America made up of Americans without hyphenated loyalties, where all are equal before the law and blesses with an abundance of opportunity.

I am a member of AIHA (American Industrial Hygiene Association) and there has been a back and forth debate about wearing "masks". Most of the real experts on this subject now think that the masks are pretty much worthless. They may "hinder" some aerosol passing, but won't stop the virus, which is too small for most masks to stop (unless you have a real respirator mask on with a HEPA filter).

Wearing a mask is a mark that "I'm afraid and I conform".

Yeah, slaves made important contributions to early and middle America through their labor. And the institution certainly had a significant impact on our political and cultural development.

But making it the central aspect of study for the history of this country requires some pretty tortured logic... it's akin to saying that mass-industrialization or collective agriculture were the organizing principle of the Soviet Union. It's ridiculous.

222 So I was thinking about the Left's push for mail-in ballots and our current state of COVID-19 requirements for gathering in groups:

--- Masks required
--- 6-foot "social distancing" required
--- In some cases, temperature checks required

I am assuming that the places where these restrictions are still in effect (Michigan being one), they will still be in effect come election day.

Imagine the irony if people are not turned away for not having ID, but *are* turned away if they refuse to get their temperature taken, wear a mask and "social distance".

Talk about "disenfranchisement"!

Anyway, I'm realizing that if this is the situation come election day, I would definitely rather *not* put up with that nonsense and just use a mail-in ballot. *However*, knowing the Democrats are going to cheat their asses off with mail-in ballots, I will end up going to fill in and cast my ballot in person.

But it got me wondering how many millions of other people feel like me, but will instead choose mail-in ballots instead of dealing with the new stupid requirements for voting.

Also the race just got boring. If there was no wreck there seemed to be little strategy other then have a bigger team and block for your best driver.

The fact that they trotted out Richard for all this makes me a little sad but only a little. A bit like hearing an actor you liked years back has said something stupid.

In the case of an actor it happens so often it no longer bothers me at all as I assume they all hate me anyway.

The swing state polls done by reputable pollsters talking to likely voters tell a completely different story and that's where the election is one or lost.

2. Even if one racist why assume it's "systemic" to police?
3. Even if "systemic" to police, why assume it's "systemic" to the rest of society?
4. Number 3 is against "the science" because of how integrated and diverse current police forces are, especially in the major metro areas with 90% of interactions with black people.
5. Number 3 is against "the science" because there is statistically no over representation of fatal interactions between police and people of color, when adjusted for the frequency of interactions with those groups, and due to the need for police to be more present and active in communities where the crime is.
6. Number 4 is against "the science" because of: huge diversity in outcome and as policy in corporate America, all government agencies, the fact that interracial marriages are now so prevalent, and the fact that the Good Ol' Amerikkka voted for a black President not just once, but twice. Not to mention the huge diversity of armed forces, and the fact that nearly every poll of Americans shows Americans on the whole the least racist people probably on the planet.

So they've got to tough it out and pretend that there was a crime, while they refuse to show anyone any actual evidence of such a crime.

My favorite retort to any manufactured charge of racism is to say, "Really? Prove it."

I should qualify that statement to add, "Prove it just as you would in court with vetted evidence. Mere accusations don't cut it."

There is no such thing as widespread racism in America anymore. It's a meme that's being shoved down our throats by PROGDA 24/7 365. It's the Big Lie that will eventually become the truth if people don't start waking up to what's being done to them.

You're not an athlete. This is a big thing on campuses and on professional teams now. And I'm not going to make light of it, there have been several high profile athletes who have committed suicide instead of seeking help because of fear of stigma. But like so many of these problems, the pendulum swings way beyond reasonable. Athletes are now being borderline pressured to come out and describe their emotional and mental struggles, which IMO, adds an unfair pressure onto them in addition to whatever they are struggling with. Now they have to be some kind of hero/mentor to whoever else is struggling with mental illness, instead of allowing them privacy to deal with their issues with professionals and their family.
The stigma is being ginned up, just like systemic racism.
The left gloms onto any issue they can to push their agenda.

247 Do these people understand that there are folks alive that lived through segregation and real racism? As an adult, I found out that I went to a segregated school. I had no idea, partly because the Indians (feather not dot) went to our school. I don't remember segregated water fountains and I didn't travel on the bus, but I'm sure there were segregated facilities in the town. Yet I am supposed to believe that things are somehow even worse today. I am to ignore the outright racism of affirmative action. I am supposed to ignore the quotas for minorities (as if they just aren't capable of getting the job on their own merits.) it's just insane. And I don't see a single thing that they are offering to change this, unless the plan is to kill off all white people.

Eh, I've never seen Rogan lauded for his intellect. When I've listened to his podcasts I appreciate that he is curious and wants to have conversations, and is generally far less judgmental which allows him to interview a wide variety of people across the political spectrum.

I can enjoy his interviews without endorsing his pro promotion (groan) or that he likes Bernie (groan) and is all over the map on what he thinks depending on who ihe is speaking with. His good interviews are those where the guest is interesting (vs. listening to hear what Rogan thinks abut X).

NASCAR has been dying since France Sr. died, and arguably just before. The owners and drivers KNOW this and are in panic mode. They THINK they're doing themselves a favor because they're TOLD it will help.

The media and TV shows them a MAJORITY of America supports BLM and the riots and don't know it's fake.

They're being willful idiots and it will cost them, dearly.

I hope they invested well.

for those Morons not familiar with WA State, it used to be a red state many moons ago. The influx of Californians fleeing their enormous property taxes and the growth of the tech industry with soy liberals coming to the area like locusts have turned it blue. Stein STOPPED her recount efforts because of the embarrasment.

When the boxes were opened, 3 ballots for Hillary, one for Trump. That's it. Examples like that abounded.
Stein STOPPED her recount efforts because of the embarrasment.
And then the REPUBLICANS, who controlled the Michigan statehouse and the legislature at the time, didn't do DICK to punish the crime.

I checked out Oprah's multi-channel broadcast/discussion on race that happened a few weeks ago. It was a zoom screen roundtable of some of successful black people in their fields. Not that one person succeeding = no racism in their chosen field, but still. Those were some very privileged people on the call with Oprah - the type who live a very exclusive lifestyle, and likely have little contact with non-millionaires apart from the help.

I just marvel that we're supposed to take as fact "400 years of oppression" (which implies things have been solidly awful) while at the same time we have many people such as Oprah, who have not just achieved success, but have been mega-successful for decades, who have kids and grandkids growing up on their earned wealth with no great barriers to their success and happiness.

I realized something late last night. We are being gaslight by the media, and political interests, and its working.

Think back on history. Viet Nam, the Tet Offensive. The media and politicians spun a DECISIVE defeat of North Viet Nam, as a Victory for them. The literally lost every fight, and destroyed themselves. Yet here in the US? Most people thought they had won. And it affected US politics to the point we left.

Then? Crash of 2008. Certain Politicians and Media spun that Bad Investment vehicles made up of mortgages, were going to crash the whole system. Widespread Panic, severely damaged the housing market, and killed a lot of investment. Yet those very same investment vehicles still exist. Nothing is different today except banks consolidated into much larger entities.

Now? a dual hit of Covid, and BLM crap. BOTH of which, are IMO, bunk, and hysteria created by Media and Politicians.

Now, what do all three of those media created horrors have in common?

All done during Presidential Election Years.

Its almost like, there is a pattern there.

Problem is, they do seem to be successful in gaslighting the population.

352 Masks do help ... question is how much. A contagious person coughing and hacking, will surely spread less inoculum to others in a crowd if he wears a mask. The inoculum is carried by small particles of vapor/fluid ... which are much larger than the virus itself, of course.

The downside though, is the various social constraints imposed by masks, the "obedience training" factor, the lower oxygen intake and strained breathing through the mask (especially the tight fitted N-95s, which I wear occasionally for spray drift or in a grain bin).

There is also a question as to whether the viral spread is largely from casual inhalation, or from prolonged contact with a contagious person (prolonged contact is what I hear, not walking past a contagious someone not wearing a mask, not touching an object they breathed on).

Studies that showed a bunch of people caught it by being on the same bus, virus spread through the AC system, low temp kept it alive, some got it hours later? ... that was out of China, so data is suspect. But it is a bad "flu", it is bad in nursing homes ... mostly, people with symptoms should stay home or be very careful, and THEY should wear the mask in public, if they have to go out ... but they should not go out mostly.

imo just saying "masks don't work" is wrong ... but just how much is spread from the asymptomatic, idk, we can't get a straight answer due to the misinfo campaign and experts like Fauci gleefully lying to us constantly.

Right?
There are so many successful blacks that it's not even noteworthy, so it was kinda jarring to see a bunch of rich, powerful friends of Oprah having a chat about racism in light of the recent pandemic and riot-related hardship that people of all races have experienced. Oprah and her pal Gayle regularly party on Geffen's yacht - but she wants you, unemployed person in WV, and you, WI small business owner whose shop was torched, to check your privilege because you're not black. It's because with a few exceptions since Reagan (Trump, Cruz, Cotton, et. al.) -- our "leaders" (including billionaire conservatives) NEVER fights back. They are happy to lose gracefully and will have their "dignity" when finally shot in the back of the head once the country is lost.

The chase added a "playoff" type atmosphere, but was ruined by the snot nosed grandson when he started rule changes on the fly to get Jeff Gordon and Tony Stewart in.

The STAGE racing should piss EVERYONE off because you pay damn good money to go see it and you LOSE 30 laps of racing because of the stages.

This is completely off the wall and OT, but seeing how many people here really know and appreciate religion, has there ever been a thought to having a weekly or monthly "Religion Thread" on Sundays? Hosted maybe by FenelonSpoke (since you are a church leader?).

I see comments in so many threads over the past few months alone where people share a Bible quote or passage or parable and it really hits home for a lot of people. Whether it be to calm someone of their fears or in this case, dealing with depression.

I know I have really appreciated the comments here and there sharing religious views on things and the Bible verses/parables like Tom Servo shared. Or the cases where people have recommended CS Lewis' books, etc.

I dunno. Probably tricky to manage a blog post series since religion is a pretty tough subject to broach, especially if too many people don't agree with certain religious beliefs. But I was thinking something lighthearted and simple. Kinda like what Tom Servo did with his comment. He related a Bible story to something a lot of people deal with (depression). Those were always the homilies I appreciated most back when I used to go to church. I hated the bland talking about the Bible, but loved when priests would take a Bible story and explain how its message applied to us today.

I dunno, just throwing it out there.

Either way, thank you Tom Servo and FenelonSpoke (and others who do so) for sharing your faith in comments here and there. Very comforting and heartwarming to read in these times of chaos.

But then they slam you for being tone deaf and not acknowledging the "the struggle."

And again, i ask this question thrice, what is the end state?
How do we make them happy for atoning for something no one alive did (own slaves)? How do you still take credit for oppression when you were not a slave? Why is this always about color when all of this shit boils down to two things:
character and competency.

Because liberalism is all about the feelz.

I contend that the end state for BLM and these affiliated groups (antifa, soros related etc)
is the systematic destruction of all we hold dear- revocation of rights, exorbitant taxes, a Stasi police state- all in the name of tolerance and understanding. and if we need you to go and volunteer your time in the rice paddies for the good of your neighbors, you'll do it or get a gun to the temple.
Any voice of dissention is stifled and you are branded a racist, sexist or homophobe. Your social credit score will go down and your career over.

An example: for those Morons who we or are still in the military- you all know that if you are ever investigated for a SHARP or EEO incident (SHARP is a sexual harassment) your career will have a mark forever- even if you are exonerated, the investigation remains in your records. A permanent scarlet letter.

Because they are aimed at illiterate fucktards? Video wastes a lot of bandwidth with unnecessary cruft that adds nothing to the exposition.

You can speed-read text, glean the gist of it, and then go back and fill in details, all in less time than it took for me to type this. You cannot "speed-view" video in the same way. Video pretty much compels one to take the presenter's premise in linearly and at the pace the presenter sets.

I often look up EweToob videos for repair of equipment. Those can indeed be useful to demonstrate techniques. But some are pitifully poorly done. bad lighting, muddy audio, background noise, or the narrator cannot speak the Queen's English properly. Or they try to be cute. I saw one about servicing a big-screen TV. Guy demonstrates how to remove one of the 24 screws holding the panel together. OK, got it, Dude. Then, he wastes 30 seconds of bandwidth, and 30 seconds of my time, by showing himself is sped-up video removing every other one of those 24 screws. That was just fucking stupid.

Posted by: FenelonSpoke at June 23, 2020 12:39 PM

I think now that we have pretty strong enforcement of threadjacking on the weekend threads, it might be possible to have a thread like that.

But, I do understand the worry about arguments. Religion and politics are two of the most divisive topics on which people seem to get most emotional. And understandably so, because a lot of people define themselves by their faith or their political beliefs. Nothing wrong with that. But sometimes tough to not take things personally when disagreements occur.

I really like your idea though for a "God Incidences" thread. Wouldn't be a discussion of specific religion or faith, but just a sharing of how faith has touched us or gotten us through life in the past (or present!).

Posted by: Clyde Shelton at June 23, 2020 01:12 PM (Do5/p)

417 Thing is that too many people for reasons of power and money keep picking the scab and tearing the bandaid off.

And that wouldn't be so bad but as time goes on and people work better with each other and this last year made strides unheard of ever, they go and lie and exaggerate and force rage and anger to avoid the very conversation they say we need to have. Or the healing that has eluded us.

They are not going to be able to converse and discuss to eventually agree with someone if they continue to claim the other party is evil and worthless and unwilling to compromise. Especially when it is the fact that the other party has made many compromises and concessions while those who complain won't even admit to their own faults.

That's a recipe for war not talk. Which is what those who are brewing all this up really want.
