Speedway Evades North Carolina's (Democrat) Governor's Edict Against Racing By Declaring the Race "A Protest"
I have mixed feelings about this.
On one had, I salute the defiance and the refusal to obey. On the other hand, the left is increasingly demanding not just silence, but enforced speech. Demanding that everyone repeat the exact political message the left has written for us all. Sometimes, even demanding that white women kneel before a black man. The way the member of an inferior, subjugated race should kneel to its racial superiors. So while I do like that the race organizers basically told the governor to fuck off with his political persecution and double standards, I am also alarmed that the only method we have open to us to defy the government is to repeat the enforced-speech statements the left has scripted for us. Yes, these race organizers, and the fans who showed up, defied the governor's edict. But they could only do by lowering themselves to repeat the left's demanded enforced speech: "This Event is held in Peaceful Protest of Injustice and Inequality Everywhere." Will that be the price for going to church in the future? Acceeding to the left's demands that we call church services "Islam Means Peace Rallies"? If one can only gain one's temporary freedom to perform an action that one wishes to perform by first repeating the catechisms of the far, hard Maoist left -- is that freedom? Is that, at this point, the best we can hope for, short of violent rebellion?Comments

Same with that synagogue, I think. This is like in the early 90s when the smoking bans were ramping up and some of the bars started changing their classification to "dinner theaters" to get around the regulations.
It would have been better, in this case, to make it a different "protest." A peaceful protest against government overreach would have been far more on the nose.

But if the mayor sends the police and decides to treat the satire as the reason for some sort of official exemption, then yes we're in the sort of situation you're outlinking.
I do think the left would love to do what you're suggesting. But the sort of open rebellion of holding the race and mocking them is exactly what we need.

Trump should address the nation. He should outline all of the rules and laws that the Obama administration broke to spy on him and his family. He should also outline who else Obama spied on.
He should then announce that he will not prosecute anyone for the crimes because he has been convinced by the Left that these were not actual crimes but natural extensions of constitutional power. He should also announce that he's using every tool that Obama's team used and created on his opponents wherever they are.

I'm a hard-right nationalist, but if I insisted on my way or the highway (right now dammit) you'd be reading about what I did in your favorite newspaper/ aggregator. There's a place for violent action and rage, and there's definitely a place for non-violent resistance. The problems come when people are filled with rage yet not channeling it constructively- or destructively.
Anyways, the only reason I bring it up is that I don't think you like being angry and feeling helpless about it. I've seen that a lot, and you don't have to think that way. One way or the other.

Quite a few years ago, businesses were fleeing MN, so, MN got the bright idea of slapping a tax on businesses that closed their doors and reopened elsewhere.
So, businesses starting moving all of the labor intensive stuff out of state and kept corporate headquarters in MN.
Or, they just expanded out of state.
A company I worked for, in MN, years ago, shut down roughly half of their manufacturing line and moved it to Arkansas, I believe it was.

Totally agree. Catholicism has hundreds of examples of martyrs who died for the faith, or spent dozens of years in prison rather than comply with hostile government edits.
No martyrs today, especially not anywhere in the hierarchy. Imagine if we had a St John Paul II today? Every one would gladly follow his lead.
One of his first acts as Pope was to fly to Poland to hold an outdoor mass, the first in 40 years. The soviets threatened to blow him out of the sky, and he just ignored them. I think close to a million people showed up.

Not bad news, but also consider that the government is pumping a lot of cash into the economy, and it has to go somewhere. A lot of institutions are buying up stock because they don't know where to park their money.
And a lot of the world is a lot worse off.
This may be a "bubble" that pops later this summer. But my 401K looks a lot better than it did 6 weeks ago.

That fed stimulus was idiotic. And you're right it's certainly contributing to the runup. But at the same time, the economy has snapped back. Not just stocks and the jobs report. Stuff like travel reservations are back to almost normal, new home sales almost back to normal, car sales, and on and on.
All the predictions that the Wuhan would mean years or even decades of prolonged economic decline were pure bullshit. And that bullshit is what caused the sell off. once people realized it was bullshit they jumped back in the market with both feet.
