Sefton: sefton at cutjibnewsletter.com | Revisiting Evergreen State [KT]A couple of days ago, Ace linked an April 2019 piece by John Sexton concerning the film "The Hunted Individual", regarding events at Evergreen State College. Ace: Special Acknowledgment to John Sexton. one of the very few people in the paid "conservative" press who has covered the Evergreen State College racial caste system. I have to admit that while I read most of his coverage, I only occasionally wrote about it myself. And some of it was so infuriating -- and so dispiriting, so depressing -- I couldn't force myself to read more of it. But he kept on documenting every ugly racist bit of it.John Sexton, April 2019: It has been nearly two years since the campus erupted at Evergreen State College and there are still reverberations from those events happening now. Later today, the Board of Trustees will meet to discuss President George Bridges' tenure at the school. . . This reconsideration of Bridges is long overdue. He, more than any other person, was responsible for allowing a group of Social Justice Warriors to take over the campus and ruin the school's reputation, creating a significant impact on the school's enrollment and budget. But he was far from alone. As you'll see for yourself in part three of this film about Evergreen, many of the professors on campus immediately surrendered themselves to the protesters, allowing themselves to be told where to go and what to do on the grounds that doing anything else would be inexcusable and possibly racist.George S. Bridges is still president at Evergreen. Still maintaining the school's reputation. Even though it is hard for students to form packs of thugs to hunt down insufficiently subservient white people while classes are online due to "the virus". President Bridges thinks the inequities produced by the virus are similar to when people are killed just because they are black: Sadly, the injustices they represent are a small sample of deaths people of color are experiencing in our country. In the havoc caused by COVID-19, there are similar disparities among those who die from the virus and those who recover. People from groups who have historically experienced discrimination, poverty, and social disadvantage are the first to lose lives to this disease. And they are more likely to be deficient in vitamin D. But let's not mention that at progressive colleges, or in the MSM, until there have been large, randomized double-blind studies. People might inadvertently die from having adequate vitamin D levels. Anyway, the film (and earlier ones) Sexton discusses are worth watching if you can stand it. Christian Toto has written a piece on seven movies Hollywood wouldn't make, but should. One is: "Evergreen" - Why would a group of students demand the resignation of a gentle, liberal professor like Bret Weinstein? He dared to disagree with the social justice groupthink infecting the campus, a move that sealed his fate. Weinstein's nightmare gave "No Safe Spaces" one of its most provocative sequences. Let's get to know Bret, his wife and fellow professor, and see how Evergreen State College became a personal hell for the duo. I tried to find something recent from Bret Weinsten, but only found Twitter posts: Bloodthirsty utopians have a plan.I'm not a fan of the kneeling gesture because it is ambiguous. If both sides do it it means one thing, and if it's unilateral it means almost the opposite. It is tailor made for meaning-games of a dangerous kind. We need an unambiguous alternateive. In 2017, In response to anti-police riots, the police were stood down at Evergreen. Those who made the demand said they would replace the police with community patrols. My family lived through the aftermath so you don't have to.I corrected the date for him. If Evergreen police hadn't been stood down they wouldn't have beaten anyone. Chief Brown was a TESC alumn dedicated to good policing. Rioters hunted me, kidnapped staff, assaulted/battered students. None were charged. The leader was paid to help rewrite the student conduct code. We are, in part, witnessing the logical conclusion of telling an entire generation of people that their identity is the most important aspect about themselves, that there is no objective truth, and the primary organising principle of human interaction is power. Brett has appeared on a lot of blogs including Rogan, Dave Rubin, etc. He's a evolutionary biologist and his brother Eric works for Peter Thiel. They have enough access to make a stand. The vast majority of professors who fight the mob will not get hired, if they do won't get tenure, if they have tenure, will be driven out anyway. We desperately need to attack the tactics of the left. They use our rules against us. Time we started using our rules for us. Freedom of speech is nearly absolute, and that means the freedom to listen. The first time a college got away with shouting out conservatives on campus, was the time to react. Now, might be easier to create a credentialing system and bypass the expensive indocrtination altogether.

If the outnumbered Republicans in the cities would get off their asses and vote in their local races, they would still lose, but we might reduce the Democrat margin enough to win the state wide races. In Minneapolis, the Republican Party doesn't even run a candidate for mayor or most council seats, that is how dysfunctional it is. Although I hate to take Failure Theater off the hook, it's kind of asymmetrical warfare in that conservatives naturally recoil from the idea of public service instead of doing something more useful where libs live for this deadbeat shit. That's why Trump is such a throwback to noblesse obligee at the end of a successful business career with tons of fuck you money. It would drive the NTs even more insane than usual to hear this but I think he's closer to the Founders ideal of a President than any of the Uniparty careerists. @330; posted by rd: "If the outnumbered Republicans in the cities would get off their asses and vote in their local races, they would still lose, but we might reduce the Democrat margin enough to win the state wide races." You already know this, but I'm gonna say it for everyone else who doesn't live here: Minnesota was 92% white in 1990. There's been a big demographic shift here in just one generation, and the proverbial melting pot hasn't been very effective. White guilt was a thing here long before it became popular on college campuses and preached by coastal media types. I think it had something to do with all the old, communist anti-war types who grew up or settled around here during the '60s. Most of them never gave up the fight and think we're still waiting for the same revolution. But, worse, it was really, really easy for the normal folks, and their kids, to fall into the same way of thinking when the state was so homogenous. It was seductive and easy to believe everyone would just get along so long as white folks "had their hearts in the right place." Racism was only a problem in other parts of the country, and everything would be different here, somehow. There was no push back for a long time 'cause, well, most of those folks had zero interaction with minority communities, and if we're being honest, there's still very little interaction for most people. Nowadays, progressivism in Minnesota has a weird class aspect too. It's very much a secular religion for city dwellers who wanna be on the "right side of history", but it also helps separate people from their "backwards" relatives who live in rural areas. The whole "all Republicans are racist" thing runs very deep here. I have a feeling that won't change in the suburbs and cities for another generation, and only after some big failures by local and state Democrats. I strongly expect that when adjusted for contributing factors - individual "co-morbidities" (diabetes, obesity, pulmonary issues, etc), density and inter-generational nature of residential situation, maybe a few more - that fatality rates for C-19 among non-white examples will be ..... pretty much the same as the total population.
Sort of like when socio-economic "outcomes" are adjusted for things like unwed births, educational attainment, etc. - race pretty much disappears as an explanatory factor. Posted by: rhomboid at June 06, 2020 12:21 PM (El6T/) 68

The whole "all Republicans are racist" thing runs very deep here. I have a feeling that won't change in the suburbs and cities for another generation, and only after some big failures by local and state Democrats.
That's another Big Lie that needs some serious pushback. It won't change until people start calling BS on those who spread it. "All Republicans are racist? That's a lie and you know it." Every. Single. Time. It's. Said. Posted by: BackwardsBoy - #WASTF at June 06, 2020 12:27 PM (HaL55) 78
AZ seems a particularly infuriating and sad case. But still I think in that zone where an actual *quality* GOP candidate has an advantage. McSally, well, yeah. But like every other incumbent, she had WH endorsement before the process barely got off the ground.
The governor indicates AZ GOP is trending toward the CA GOP extinction pattern. Empty chamber of commerce seat-warmer, in many ways. But vastly out-performed McSally last cycle, when she lost to the dingbat in boots. Posted by: rhomboid at June 06, 2020 12:27 PM (El6T/) 79

If you are bored today, either as a byproduct of lethargy, hangover or forced internment by blue state COVID-stasi, you might enjoy spending an hour with this podcast.
It is an intellectual investigation of woke intersectionalism as a false religion by way of comparison to the Christian world view. It examines, among other things, corporate repentance as pertains to white privilege, the surrendering of national history as a result of anachronistic world view and many other current topics as it meanders through a somewhat holistic examining of the entire crisis we are experiencing in American society. Much of it will be an echo chamber for what is routinely discussed here, but it is well put together, logically sound and puts words to what I think a lot of us think about where we are and how we got here. https://tinyurl.com/ych7lao5 My apologies that this comment is not exactly "on-topic", but much of what Evergreen State experienced is much of what the podcast investigates, so I thought it might be pertinent. @96: "WUT??? Any idea of the name? Yet another thing trashed by a leftist court..."
From wikipedia on "one man one vote": "However, in Baker v. Carr, 369 U.S. 186 (1962) the United States Supreme Court under Chief Justice Earl Warren overturned the previous decision in Colegrove holding that malapportionment claims under the Equal Protection Clause of the Fourteenth Amendment were not exempt from judicial review under Article IV, Section 4, as the equal protection issue in this case was separate from any political questions. The 'one person, one vote' doctrine, which requires electoral districts to be apportioned according to population, thus making each district roughly equal in population, was further cemented by Warren Court in the landmark cases that followed Baker, including Gray v. Sanders, 372 U.S. 368 (1963) which concerned the County Unit System in Georgia, Reynolds v. Sims, 377 U.S. 533 (1964) which concerned state legislature districts, Wesberry v. Sanders, 376 U.S. 1 (1964) which concerned U.S. Congressional districts and Avery v. Midland County, 390 U.S. 474 (196 which concerned local government districts." "I was born a poor black child" ... The Jerk
"you mean I'm going to stay this color?" There are certainly different cultures, but only partly tied/linked to race. Why did Ben Carson or Thomas Sowell emerge so successfully, and why are they hated by the black radicals as "Uncle Toms"? Democrat blacks demand all blacks follow them, since their black identity is their main credential. (Sharpton/Obama, various diversity hires like Judge Sullivan) The Dem/Commie party is largely to blame ... after R's pushed through "Equal" rights, racist jerk LBJ was sure he could make the blacks vote Dem ... by making them dependent on government, apparently, and stirring up strife. Dems fought against "equal" rights, but turned on a dime to buy the "minority" vote via Special Rights, special rights LBJ would promise to deliver. This recent attack on black communities by the Dems has perhaps woken more of the "silent majority" in the black community to the capricious pandering and destructive nature of such racist Dem political overlords. Dems demand black communities be made stronger, even as they support/fund the burning of the structures that strengthen those neighborhoods. There is no absence of malice with the Democrats pushing this destruction. Posted by: illiniwek at June 06, 2020 12:39 PM (Cus5s) 128

I've read a lot about Evergreen. One graduate of Evergreen returned to visit an empty campus and of course tells of his time as a student there.
Professors started their classes with everyone standing and confessing their crimes of the day. When he was there, about half of the students went barefoot around campus. Standing at a urinal in piss, in of course the unisex restrooms. He goes on and on of what it was like, not to many years ago. There has been talk of making the campus a homeless shelter. But its in a mostly rural setting and probably not very popular with the homeless, since there is on place to panhandle. Posted by: Colin at June 06, 2020 12:41 PM (30CAi) 138

I read an interesting article about Peter Thiel yesterday where he said we're right on the cusp of higher education crashing and burning and he plans on putting something better in its place.

Natchitoches = Nack-oh-tish Nagogdoches = Nack-uh-docious Nacogdoches, besides being a very lovely little town and the home of Stephen F. I don't know the name of the decision, something something about "one man one vote".
Each county sent the same number of state reps regardless of population. I think that was part of it. It is true that Iowa, maybe 99 counties aren't necessary. A lot of things were platted out when horse and buggy were the norm. As it is consolidation of schools and other regional infrastructure is the norm, because the tax base isn't there. But the principle at the state level was just as sound as the EC is nationally. Posted by: Common Tater at June 06, 2020 12:52 PM (B6WO/) 180

The American education system is nationalized child abuse. It's been like that for a couple generations now. We're seeing the effect, and it'll get worse before it gets better. Maybe young kids (14 and below). living through this...and what's to come...will end up rejecting it all and reclaim a reason based approach to social order. When I was in college, one of my favorite professors was a real hardcore leftie. But he welcomed and encouraged debate from students. He'd also point out what he was teaching had an opposing point of view and would recommend things to read that gave that opposing POV. It was fun, and I learned a lot by being exposed to both sides of the story.
Today that is something that doesn't exist on campus. I was in college in the 90s, but fuck it may have well been 1000 years ago. Posted by: Not Amused Ditto...back in the 70's. Great prof, he started day one of class by saying "I am a Marxist Anarchist." We went from there. Great discussions and one of the best classes I had at school. He particularly loved it when I wore my ROTC uniform to class. Viet Nam was still going and the chats were great. Posted by: Diogenes at June 06, 2020 01:06 PM (axyOa) 230

I wonder how many lefties have examined leftwing thought, carefully considered alternatives and said, yep, this is what I believe?
How many have just simply swallowed what the lying media and brainwashing professors have told them? How many just go along, just because everybody else they know is going along? I honestly believe that conservatives older than, say, 20, have actually been forced to examine their beliefs. The imbecilic media, of course, says conservatives are the ones in a bubble who have never thought things through. Posted by: Northernlurker at June 06, 2020 01:08 PM (Uu+Jp) 237

Eric hosts "The Portal" and had his brother on to tell the Evergreen story and the story of his theory on a lot of medical research being invalidated because all the mice used everywhere came from one lab in Maine and that somehow bred them to ... well, it's beyond my paygrade to even regurgitate it without listening again (it's been a month). It's a terrific listen and also talks about the peer review system and other topics. The first 30 minutes are incredibly awkward as it's clear Bret is not comfortable talking about himself, but once Eric gets him to open up it's fantastic. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JLb5hZLw44s Posted by: TheHoser at June 06, 2020 01:16 PM (IDjUx) 266

Defunding the cops is going to be a disaster for the D's.
Amusingly, we considered defunding the cops in my town six years ago. The town has a vote once every five years to determine the property tax rate for the cops. Six years ago, the city got greedy, and tried raising the property tax rate for the cops by 25%. The measure lost by one vote. You get one more chance if the levy fails - the city government apologized, rolled back the property tax increase, and the sheriff pointed out that only life-threatening situations would get a police response if the levy failed. The second vote was 88% percent in favor, which meant that 12% of the population favored not having cops. Posted by: The ARC of History! at June 06, 2020 01:21 PM (I2/tG) 289

55 Hate to break it to you, states had the equivalent of the EC, at the county level, to prevent large population areas from dominating state politics.
Expunged long ago by SCOTUS, about 1970 or near enough. Posted by: Common Tater at June 06, 2020 12:18 PM (B6WO/) ---------------------------- Yes, most states had senates that provided representation by county and city, rather than by population. In Virginia for example, the city of Richmond (pop. 220,000) would have one senator and so would Bath County (pop. 4300.) Thus the rural counties were protected from the pure democracy of "King Numbers." This was, of course, exactly the same pattern as was established for the US Senate. All of the Left's issues, fake and imagined, are "settled" and "final." There was a time, most of you remember, when you could oppose homosexual "marriage" and not be called a "homophobe" and be shunned and outcast. He has told me of actual conversations with other parents asking if the kids will be professional sports players. Not if he's alive. But I just had a chilling thought. It was Saint Trayvon. The kid the media refused to show current photos of because he turned into a full blown drug abusing gang banger.
Posted by: Lemmiwinks at June 06, 2020 02:57 PM (h1jJh) Saint Traytable was the moment I finally realized the enemedia would stoop to any level to advance a narrative. First off, they saw a local crime ledger story where a thug got killed by someone named Zimmerman and immediately thought "great, a hook nosed bastard of questionable loyalty who we can demonize to our jooo hating core audience". When that blew up on the rocket surgeons they switched to "white Hispanic", a term that seemed to be invented on the spot and never gets to be applied to, say, Jim Acosta. They lied about every fucking other thing which is why the jury almost immediately reached a verdict of not guilty. Posted by: Captain Hate at June 06, 2020 03:29 PM (y7DUB) 491

Shortly after the story went nation wide, someone posted pictures from his facebook account of what he looked like right before he got his ass shot. He had multiple pictures of the kids he and his thug friends beat unconscious(mostly white teens). He had pictures of him and his thug friends posing with guns, money and drugs. But the media decided to go with a picture from when he was 13 and playing football. Most thugs are still perfectly normal at 13. Posted by: Lemmiwinks at June 06, 2020 03:38 PM (h1jJh) 493

A little late, I know, but something has been nagging at me.
With all the violence going on, and with the police occupied, just how many rapes and sexual assaults do you think are occurring and how many are likely to go completely unreported? Considering the vast opportunities that exist, surely it must be happening to some degree. During the Occupy events, with the cops pushed out of the vicinity, and combined with rampant hard drug use, rape was fairly frequent. Surely it wouldn't be difficult for some woman at a riot to be set upon, beaten, and then dragged off to be gang raped. And not it's not likely that "protestors" are going to inform the Fuzz, their newly christened enemy. And don't expect any news reporting on this. No siree. Good point. And in some states, they just cleared a bunch of criminals out of prison so they wouldn't get COVID 19. And I read somewhere that in LA, you aren't supposed to call 911 for a home break-in unless your life is in danger. Haven't confirmed that, but sounds similar to earlier hang-ups by 911.
