Mississippi Church That Resisted Orders to Shut Down Burns Down/Explodes;
Trump Orders Governors to Treat Religious Services as "Essential Services"

Is this an inside job or a false flag? Or is the left dropping all masks?

The First Pentecostal Church of Holly Springs in Mississippi burned down early Wednesday morning. The congregation had been in a legal battle to continue holding services despite the novel coronavirus outbreak and subsequent lockdown orders.

The building went up in flames between 2-4 a.m. Investigators said the church was spray-painted with graffiti before an explosion blew out the front of the building, according to Fox 13. Maj. Kelly McMillian of the Marshall Count Sheriff’s Department confirmed the fire to be a criminal act of arson.

Thomas More Society senior counsel and lawyer for the church, Stephen Crampton, spoke with Fox News about the fire and said the perpetrators spray-painted a message that read, "I Bet you stay home now you hypokrits."

"We're in a time where I don't think it's any secret that there's a growing hostility toward churches, across the board," Crampton said. "And now, here are churches like First Pentecostal that are sort of stirring up the waters by being outspoken and somewhat firm about seeking to protect their Constitutional rights."

Tim Pool covered this story, and suggested caution, which I think is appropriate. He doesn't like the fact that the arsonist left a graffiti message letting everyone know his motive was political. We've seen that sort of thing in false flag cases -- the hoaxer wants to make sure you "get it."

Also, he doesn't like the misspelling of "hypokrit." I think his idea is that this is an attempt to mislead the cops into thinking the arsonist is illiterate, when he's not.

But I see it as equally if not more likely that he is illiterate.

Also, I'd point out that while there was that one case of a false flag church burning, most of these hoax cases involve graffiti and criminal mischief, not stuff as serious as arson. Hate crime hoaxers tend to commit "hate crimes" -- graffiti, fake nooses, and fake scarf-grabbings -- and not real crimes, like arson or arson by explosive.

Anyway, I agree with Pool that people should be suspicious about the breadcrumb trail being left on the ground for us here, but I wouldn't ignore the possibility that this is exactly what it looks like: an attack on a church by some crazed leftwing atheist Karens.

(Are there any other kind?)

Meanwhile -- and maybe relatedly -- Trump decrees that church services are "essential services" and tells governors to allow churches to resume operations, or he'll overrule them.

I'm not sure how that works, but then, I also don't know how governors decided that they can suspend the Bill of Rights on a whim. And while governors were doing that, all the media attention, and all the NeverTrump attention, was on Trump's claim that he had "total authority" to reopen the country.

They continue ignoring actual, current, real fascist actions committed by the Democrats they support in order to focus laser-like on hypothetical possible future actions of Trump.

I would note that Presidents have, in the past, used the US Marshall service as well as the National Guard to guarantee civil rights.

When schools in the south refused to permit black students to enter, in defiance of a court order, the US Marshalls were sent in to enforce the order.

There will be few judges willing to agree that leftwing governors have the right to shut down a liberty explicitly protected by the Constitution while allowing gay swinger glory hole clubs to offer.

So yeah, that's how it will happen: A judge's order, followed by the US Marshalls and maybe the fucking National Guard.

So if New York, New Jersey, Michigan, etc., want to take their chances with the National Guard surrounding and protecting chuches -- make my fucking day.

Let's get it on.

Good question:

Yes, how is it that the media spent February, March, and April insisting that Trump had the power to unilaterally order states to shut down, but now demands to know what his authority is for demanding they open up?

In fact, CNN is pushing a story today claiming that if the US had shut down two weeks earlier -- that is, if Trump had asserted a mythical ability to order the country shut down -- many lives would have been saved:

But he doesn't have the power to protect a right enumerated in the Constitution? Strange!

By the way, that CNN story should really be talking about New York shutting down two weeks earlier, because New York City and only New York City was the epicenter of the pandemic which then spread it to most other parts of the country.

But they don't want to acknowledge that Andrew Cuomo is responsible for murdering people -- so they change the headline to the "U.S." being late to shut down.

For someone so attuned to logic and how the mind works, Adams has some astonishingly silly takes.

My favorite is his claim that there is "no such thing as a slippery slope". That every argument is judged on its own merits.

Posted by: ... at May 22, 2020 03:28 PM (t+mAj)

156 When Trump said he had total authority to open the country, he was right and I'll tell you why:

ALL 50 states are under a declaration of emergency order at the same time. That is different from the national emergency order Trump declared about the the COVID-19 public health emergency in early March. Each of the 50 states, through their governors, had to declare a state of emergency for their state and then ASK POTUS to approve the declaration of emergency. Doing this opened up the flow of federal FEMA money to the states. But it also gives the federal government a lot of power of the states that it normally would not have but for those declarations of emergency because if the POTUS revokes and/or lets the declaration of emergency expire, there is no more FEMA money to the states.

You couple that with the Commerce Clause in the constitution, and basically Trump has total authority.

But he doesn't want to do that -- he wants the normal federal republic system to work DESPITE the 50 declarations of emergency. He is basically ALLOWING the governors to keep making the decisions.

Trump often gives the big picture and/or bottom line when he speaks, so he didn't go into all the minutia, but he was correct when he said he had total authority.

Or it could be a personal grudge where there is no political motive but rather that the perpetrator is trying to cover his tracks by throwing in a red herring. Better to maintain a safe distance rather rush in and have things blow up in your face.
Regardless, I hope that the church members and community rally together this Sunday to provide a witness than faith will overcome hate.

He's using a persuasion technique to claim there is no slippery slope. I am blanking on the exact name of it but there's a specific technique wherein a person denies that arguments build upon each other but rather insists that each step is sui generis.

It's a bad faith technique designed to frustrate the person making an argument.

In other words, he is, at best, being less than candid about how he is approaching the entire practice of argumentation.

True story, when the Ray Rice incident happened, where he had knocked out his fiance while they were in an elevator, the video INSIDE the elevator had been delivered to the NFL offices mere days after the incident had occurred.

Fast forward a couple months, and the NFL has given Rice a slap on the wrist for the incident, because he claimed a little shoving might have gone on inside the elevator, but he swears he never hit her, but that she slipped and fell.

The NFL says the ruling was based on the information they had. Then the video inside the elevator is released.

Bam.

NFL SWEARS they never saw that video before. The police then go public and say, yes, indeed, we delivered the video to your offices, as you requested. Days after the incident.

There's proof of it being delivered and everything.

So the NFL does an investigation of just how such a thing could have happened, and you know what the NFL found out?

Nobody other than a low lever staffer ever saw a copy of the video. Not Rog Goodell, not any of their lawyers, security team... nobody.

Well that clears that up.

251 He's using a persuasion technique to claim there is no slippery slope.

- - -

When you can't beat their argument,

1. stall the opposition by finding excuses to pick it apart down to the molecular level, while ignoring the primary claim. Do this as long as it takes.

2. wait for the opposition to get fed up and quit.

3. declare you won; declare that they couldn't defend their argument.

264 National Guard are under the command of the governor (Title 32 U.S. Code) unless nationalized / mobilized / called up, use whatever term you like. There has to be a Congresssionally-approved need for that (e.g. all the mobilizations back in the '00s were in support of 'Operation Noble Eagle').
So, I tend to think the NG would not be an option, because for the President to employ them would be a monummental (1) effort to get Congressional approval, or (2) executive overreach if not.
I expect it would be federal LE like the US Marshals, FBI, or maybe even CBP. It's way easier to get away with using federal police for political ops - just ask Obama, Holder, Comey, Brennan, Reno, etc etc etc.

And in this case, like Alabama, the cause would actually be legitimate, assuming the evidence was not falsified (unlike all the uses they served under the <spit> democrats <spit> I named).

A Snapshot of Voter Fears About the Election

If there were an "official" feeling to describe how Americans view the forthcoming 2020 presidential election, it would be "fear." However, a study shows election fear predated COVID-19 and the ensuing economic upheaval to form what is now a tumultuous, interconnected triad.

The annual Survey of American Fears conducted in August 2019 by Chapman University found 47.5% of Americans were "afraid or very afraid" of the 2020 election outcome. But among some demographic groups that percentage pushed up considerably -- liberals, for example, registered at 74.6%.

I will say, though, that actors taking themselves that seriously when it comes to fake combat tickles me.

This is true (and why I link to Daily Wire), but it doesn't necessarily negate the individual's mindset. I don't feel like digging through 15 tons of Ed Morrisey's turds just to find a single kernel of corn pop.

Waste of my time.

In the Orville Faubus case in Arkansas, Gov. Faubus called out the National Guard to prevent the schools from being integrated in defiance of the federal courts.

Ike federalized the Arkansas Guard to take command away from Faubus, and then sent in the 101st Airborne, *regular federal Army* to enforce desegregation.

That was meant as a quite serious statement on governors defying federal court orders.

I used to think Shapiro was a phony, that his act was all about self-serving, milking a slot in the conservosphere.

I have now come to the conclusion that he is, is autistic. He's not as far gone as some, but he's absolutely on the spectrum. His brain just sorta goes places, and he doesn't have any compass to give him pause, to look around and see if what he's saying has any practical place in the real world.

So yeah, he's not wrong on lots of things. But the things he's wrong on, he's about as twisted around as you can get without being stupid or evil. Of which he is neither.

329 If you listen to Scott Adams enough and you're semi-intelligent, you'll realize he's a big proponent of Social Engineering by Elites, because he fancies himself an elite social engineer.

338 The way the Left has refused all this time to get under the tent of how Trump works and expose it - which they could, and use it to damage him bigly - tells you more about how *they* work than anything else.

Trump knows some very important Secrets of the Left. He is an "activist" and a "community organizer" of the most effective kinds. He knows how to rabble rouse with the best. He didn't capture a movement with all the stars lined against him and keep its support at 95% through dumb luck.

Trump is well acquainted with the Left's tactics and uses them to great effect. But they don't call him out on it - they shannot - because if they do, people will discover that the Commies are running a giant magic show.

It's one of the reasons Trump maintains his power over them. They can't be honest about what he's really doing and why he's so good at it. How often do you hear them even admit he's good at what he does? They are terrified of "everyone" figuring out the game. And they will take being Rachel Corried for eight years if it means they can keep most people asleep.

From the photo I saw, the church looked like it could have had an explosion inside. The roof is gone and a wall looks collapsed.

Maybe a congregant would set a small fire in order to look more sympathetic, but the damage looks like somebody wanted to make certain that church couldn't be used. I'm inclined to suspect some lefty did it, but I guess we will see.
