Minnesota, New Jersey Churches Announce They Will Ignore Fascist Tyrants' Decrees and Reopen

New Jersey:

A handful of New Jersey pastors say they are reopening in defiance of Gov. Phil Murphy's stay-at-home orders to stop the spread of the coronavirus, because of their religious convictions and constitutional rights.

Charles Clark Jr., co-pastor of Solid Rock Baptist Church in Berlin who has been preaching for 45 years, made the announcement Wednesday at the South Jersey house of worship.

"We're not breaking the law by going to church," Clark Jr. said. "The people telling us we can't go to church are breaking the Constitution of the United States. It's illegal...It's just ridiculous in this country."

...

Murphy has made it clear that until there's a vaccine or a treatment, mass gatherings, including worship services, will remain restricted, ABC 6 reports.

Phil Murphy murdered thousands of elderly citizens by ordering their nursing homes to be filled with people known to be infected with COVID-19 and contagious. And he knew he was deliberately infecting the only group at serious risk of death due to the disease.

So yeah -- let's do all the things this murderous fascist tells us to.

Minnesota churches say, very sensibly, that they will not remained locked down while the state permits malls and casinos to open.

That order is so illegal and unconstitutional I can't believe I even have to point this out.

This is just straight-up Chinese Communist Party suppression of religion in the interest of enlarging the Holy State.

You'll be happy to hear, however, that America's First Transsexual Governor, Karl "Gretchen" Whitmer, is giving the green light to gay swinger sex clubs while continuing to persecute a barber.

There is perhaps nothing more confusing than Democrat governors' orders during the Chinese WuFlu pandemic. Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer is by far the worst. That was made clear with the news that a gay swinger's club with "glory holes" is being allowed to operate under her nose in Lansing while she aims her business-killing death ray on 77-year-old barber Karl Manke for giving haircuts.

...

The FAQs also ask if there are "glory holes" (if you're blissfully ignorant of what these are, don't Google it) and the response from the website says, "A maze is a network of paths and hedges designed as a puzzle through which one has to find a way, and in our case, it is very dark and made with walls that have a few holes in them," says the club's website.

If Christians have to go to court to fight for their right to go to church, then this country is already done, and it's time to move past the impolite fiction of "American democracy."

25 Supposedly, I'm locked up to "save Grandma." But at this point, what am I saving Grandma for?

My 82 year old mother loves her family, and her Catholic Church, and she's barred from both right now. What is she living for? And is she going to be alive when a vaccine comes along? (For that matter, I likely won't be alive either, but that's more about the fact that we may never have an effective vaccine. I'm assuming for this hypothetical that we may have an effective vaccine, and it may be available in 12 to 18 months.).

We're not living anymore. We're just surviving. And for my 82 year old mother, even survival isn't going to be for very long.

86 82 percent of our deaths in Minnesota have been in LTC facilities. The Dictator Tin Pot Timmy Walz is STILL putting recovering CV19 patients that can leave the hospital into nursing homes. Then they all sit around and scratch their sacks on why the numbers lead the nation in LTC per capita deaths. Gee, I don't know, maybe because you're putting infected people into the most vulnerable places on earth? Take those out and we've had like 160 deaths non LTC related and we've napalmed our economy over it. Good for the churches for standing up!

It might have been at one time but it's not anymore. It's a fucking raging dumpster fire. A fine country is one where the government protects its citizens and encourages them to flourish. The 70,000 page IRS code is just one example, proof that we are suppressed, oppressed, controlled, and pillaged by the "elites" every minute of every fucking day. And it's been this way for at least 100 years!

They laugh at you and all of us because they can so blatantly commit crimes right in front of us, with naked aggression, and they know that they are protected and shielded from our wrath by the intelligence agencies, police state, and banksters. All of them hate God. Why the fuck you think abortion clinics and glory hole clubs remain open while churches are shuttered?

Fuck your notions of "equal" religions, this shit goes on because Satanism is recognized and sanctioned by the state when it ought to be outlawed. Fuck your freedom of religion, Luciferians!

Things will not even begin to "get fixed" until there are 1000s of hangings for treason or for plain old crimes against humanity. Start with every Dem mayor or governor that supports sanctuary cities or states. And every judge and police officer who agitates the good citizenry while releasing violent criminals back among us.

Jail time won't work, their sentences would just be pardoned or diminished to almost nothing. Death to tyrants and to those who would poison my children!!

Looking at quarantine caselaw going back to the 1800s pulled up a lot of the current cases. Up until last week, almost every case seeking to overturn the lockdowns was summarily rejected.

Then, around the 16th, a lot of religious entity opinions started being issued. Fairly even split is starting to develop (as can be expected from the jurisdictions) but with more and more judges noticing that these rules pretty much target religious groups. One major one, Berean Baptist Church v. Coper (E.D.N.C. May 16, 2020), is a hoot to read.

Phrases like: "But wait, there's more inconsistency."

It basically all comes down to the Pope thing these days, since they've reached concord in the past decade that salvation is by grace alone, not by works. Jabba the Pritzker is really starting to backpedal on the lock down. The word is Mike Madigan (who really runs the state) has been getting a ton of grief about lost businesses told Jabba the lock down has to end. Phase 3 which will reopen all business with the masks and other BS is most likely to happen next weekend. He's also going to "allow" restaurants and bars to have outdoor seating because "the science" says they can.

It's too little too late for too many business. The POS played chicken with the shut down to get a Federal bailout and all he'll end up with is a sea of bankrupt companies and a much smaller tax base

164 JoeF, you'd be surprised what Catholics and Lutherans (LCMS anyway) agree on. It basically all comes down to the Pope thing these days, since they've reached concord in the past decade that salvation is by grace alone, not by works. Most people probably have gotten it already. Most people are not in such dire shape as to get massively sick from trivial exposure from the few airborne particles that are inhaled. Sufficient Vitamin D levels keep the significant majority healthy. We will all get it (or get it again), and most of us will be just fine.

Living things fight to stay alive, and churches are living things. I think that a very large number of them that refused to give any fight to stay alive, won't.

I've often thought that if there were a time machine, and we could get Luther and Aquinas into the same room all by themselves with a pitcher of beer, and Luther were stlll young enough not to have descended into his mad bitterness about the way he was treated, that they would find a great deal to agree about. Luther was definitely a sensuous person. Puts him on the southern side of the divide, and Aristotle--in temperament, anyway.

First Pentecostal Church in Holly Springs, Mississippi, burned down Wednesday morning, news outlets reported. When investigators from the Marshall County Sheriff's Office got to the scene, they found graffiti in the church parking lot that read: "Bet you stay home now you hypokrites."

278 Here in California, a Christian thrift store decided to openly violate Gavin Newsom's orders, and just re-open and let people shop like normal. Knowing that he would be cited and fined for conducting business, the manager every day just walks into the police station to report himself, and get his ticket and court order:

https://www.ktvu.com/news/ santa-rosa-nonprofit-racks-up-fines-for-covid-19-violations

He says that when his case finally goes to court, he bets that a sympathetic jury will laugh the charges off the docket as obviously ridiculous.

Furthermore, he's beating the Left at the own game by trotting out minorities that he is helping: "Hello, my name is Tyreesa and I was an addict, but working here at this store has turned my life around and given me jobs skills and broke my cycle of addiction with therapy." Boom -- argue with THAT, leftwipes.

SANTA ROSA, Calif. - A Santa Rosa non-profit has racked up $21,000 in fines for COVID-19 order violations.

Michael Bryant has no intention of closing his thrift stores, even as the citations pile up.

"I'm not stopping halfway, I either shouldn't have done it or I'm going all the way with whatever it takes," Bryant told KTVU on Wednesday.

He and wife Dana are the founders of Crossing the Jordan, which provides programs for people recovering from substance abuse, homelessness, sex trafficking, and incarceration.

The services are funded by five second-hand stores, which closed abruptly in March, under state and local emergency orders.

"We're were like, we're going to lose these people we're caring for, they're going to go out to the streets, what do we do,?" said Michael.
...
The Bryants hope for a sympathetic judge as the citations pile up.

To make it easier, Michael simply reports to Police headquarters every morning for his citations, so officers don't have to come to a store.

He is racking up three violations every day- one for each Santa Rosa store.

"21 technical arrests, 21 thousand dollars so far," said Dana, "and I think we're at 10 potential years in jail."

Added Michael, "these people in our program are like family and nobody has ever stood up for them, so it's time somebody did." "

Check and mate.

283 Re: the virus hanging around in the air

I read a review article the other day and the actual science regarding the seasonal flu appears to show a correlation to humidity. Drier air equals more respiratory infections, but as the humidity rises the infection rate decreases. One theory is that viral particles that coughed into the air are attached to microscopic droplets of water and are able to remain suspended longer in drier air. As the air gets more humid, water vapor molecules aggregate, become heavier, and drop out of the air, which also causes the viruses to fall out. Drier air also dries out and irritates the air passages and may help the virus to infect the target cells.

++++++++++++
That isn't entirely true. The number of total bitcoins is fixed. As computing power gets cheaper, the cost to clear transactions goes down. Except that the computational effort to validate the blockchain goes up exponentially. Power per unit of cost needs to fall dramatically just do keep the clearance costs the same as the number of transactions increase.

Bitcoin is insanely inefficient and this is why specialized hardware has been created just to do it, but it is hard (deliberately) to do and the actual real-world costs of clearance are brutal. At the peak of the bitcoin bubble a few years ago, bitcoin clearance was estimated to consume more electrical energy than the Republic of Ireland.

Other blockchain systems are more sustainable, but the real-world energy costs of bitcoin are brutal and only tend to get worse.

299 I read a review article the other day and the actual science regarding the seasonal flu appears to show a correlation to humidity.

314 Don't know if it's commented on below, but it is a generally absolute rule that there is an appeal to an appellate court from a judgment in a trial-level court. EVERY criminal defendant in every court in the land has a right to appeal the judgment (there are time limits, etc.) It's not just the D. and the Judge. The function of a writ petition is to stop/change/reverse something happening now that is so momentous, it must be considered now or there'll be a fooking mess that can't be cleaned up easily. 317 As you know, Luther was a lot closer in spirit to the Catholic Church than to Calvin or Zwingli.
Posted by: Caliban at May 21, 2020 06:24 PM (QE8X6)

I agree, everything I've read on Luther says that in the beginning, all he wanted to do was to Reform the Roman Catholic Church, not overthrow it. And he thought he could do so, but then some saw their being overthrown and they decided to Judge Sullivan him.

And THEN the German Princes decided it was a great time to finally be free of Italian political control, and Luther's demands for reform were just the horse they could ride to get that accomplished.

Meanwhile, over in Merrye Olde England, a chap named Henry wanted a new wife.

338 the dollar is inflated for sure, but we have a military a reserve currency status. Alternatives are gold or Bitcoin ... or buy stock or buy something productive. I'd love for it to be trendy for responsible people to own acreage, not have land go to the Chinese or corporate owners.

For now USD is still king, maybe stocks that have real stuff (like Big Oil I guess) will hold value, but half the nation is passive investors ... not really adding anything to the system, just counting on government to save the markets. Normal "capitalism" requires owners managing their capital ... not markets pumped up and billionaires bailed out by monetary policy and printing, while the working class declines.

+++++++++
They do, but it has an endpoint. This process is called "mining" and in Bitcoin land, it is the reward for committing processing power to updating and validating the blockchain. This massive computing power has to be paid for, and you get little bits of Bitcoin for processing the chain. The more process, the more you get. But this will end when they run out of Bitcoins (e.g., the finite number of them are allocated) - which is when the eye-watering processing fees will start to accumulate.

It gets hard and harder to "mine" new Bitcoin with every transaction. At the beginning, it was easy to accumulate them. As it goes on, there are fewer to give out and each one becomes more expensive (in terms of compute capacity and the electric power and cooling to run that compute capacity at scale) to earn.

No, from NWS for Phoenix:

Humidity 6%
Wind Speed W 8 MPH
Barometer 29.81 in (1009.48 mb)
Dewpoint 16°F (-9°C)
Visibility 10.00 mi

But the AZ Wuhan virus numbers do not suggest we should stop being deplorably isolated.

I thought of that too when I was reading the article. Maybe there is some point at which the air is too dry for viruses to survive. I know the air gets ridiculously dry in the winter in non-desert areas but I honestly don't know if it's the same as in the desert.

Maybe heat also plays a part. How bad does the flu normally get out there?

I knew he was at risk, I was guessing yesterday that he would cut a deal to turn State's Evidence against the McMichael's in order to get himself off the hook. That's still a possibility, perhaps a strong one.

He's charged because of the interplay between Felony Murder and the Law of Parties, both very harsh laws that most southern states have. If he was actively helping the McMichael's to chase Arbery, he can be convicted of everything they're convicted of. If he was following them to see what was going to happen, he can get off, even if they're convicted.

But he's in a lot of trouble - his attorney needs to be cutting deals.

those of us who served in Desert Storm have a little different view on untested vaccines.

Due to Gulf War Syndrome, which 30% of those there have been diagnosed with.

And many others have it but have never been formally diagnosed.

Only 2 groups who exhibit it? US and British troops. Others who were in the region do not exhibit this syndrome.

Only thing that Brit and US troops had in common, that other groups there did not?

Inoculations against chem and bio warfare, that we actually had to sign a WAIVER to get, but if we refused? We could not deploy and our careers would be over.

That's fair. God only knows what sort of "vaccine" you get against Sarin gas. But actual vaccines- -i.e. denatured/dead viral strains or dead bacteria - - are not the same cocktail at the Gulf War shots. One of the issues there was no spacing, as I recall.

More to the point, if you got those shots and DIDN'T get GWS, then shit, you are bulletproof. Inject motor oil for all it matters, you'll just burn it for fuel!

And Disney or any private business should have the same option. Want to ride the rollercoaster or attend that sports ball game in person? The owner should have the OPTION to require proof of vaccination when you buy your ticket.

I would like to get to a vaccine. Isolating older folks in nursing homes is horrible on so many levels and they are also at risk from regular flu but they can be vaccinated for those. Once we have a vaccine and don't have to worry about killing Casey Jone's grandma there is zero excuse have any BS 'new normal is wearing a mask, no choir in church, social distancing, yada yada' And there is zero reason for that vaccine to mandatory other than a nursing home could require residents to get it like they currently do with flu etc.

Posted by: Broseidon - New Work Computer, Same Work Ethic at May 21, 2020 06:48 PM (icI8A)

No, it's simpler than that - which is why it is so harsh a law. If you commit or are in the act of committing a felony, and ANYONE dies for ANY reason flowing out of the chain of events you started with your felony, then you are guilty of Felony Murder. A common example: 2 thieves hold up a store. A policeman arrives, and shoots one of them dead, while capturing the other one. The cop, of course, it justified. The captured perp, however, is now charged with Felony Murder for the death of his friend, who was shot by the Cop. Because HIS felonious actions led to that death.

it is a very harsh law. Law of Parties is another harsh one. If you are in a conspiracy to commit a felony with other parties, or are in the act of committing such a felony with others, then EVERY member of the group is equally guilty of ANYTHING a single one of them does, including murder.

437 Another famous felony murder case, from Oklahoma a couple years ago. A girl recruited two of her stupid 19 year old boyfriends to burglarize rich peoples houses that they thought were vacant. She drove them to the house, they broke in. The grandson of the homeowner came downstairs holding an AR-16 and caught them in the house. After a brief confrontation, he killed both of them.

The shooter was not charged, because self defense of his own house. The girl sitting out in the car, however - and note there was NO intent, she wasn't even in the building when the shots were fired - was charged and convicted of 2 counts of Felony Murder for the deaths of her friends. She's in an Oklahoma State Prison today, and will be there for quite some time.

It's a very harsh law. Many "progressive" states don't have it anymore.

439 328 I would vote for Joe Biden if he boiled babies and ate them. He wasn't my candidate, but taking back the White House is that important. Four more years of Trump will replace what remains of our democracy with unchecked rule by kleptocrats, fascists, religious fanatics, gun nuts, and know-nothings.

The environment? Education? Public health? The rights of voters, workers, immigrants, people of color, and yes, women? Forget them. And not just for the next four years: A Trump victory will lock down the courts for decades. I cannot believe that a rational person can grasp the disaster that is Donald Trump and withhold their support from Biden because of Tara Reade.

440 btw, the original felony that the McMichael's are being charged with is Aggravated Assault, aka Assault with a deadly weapon. They initiated the confrontation with Arbery by chasing him in their truck, then the younger McMichael brandished a firearm while confronting him in public. That's textbook Aggravated Assault, and that's the Felony needed for Felony Murder.

How often does anyone do full time for just felony murder?

Seems to me it's more of a tool for the prosecutor to get someone to roll over on the actual doer than take the full bull themselves.

Least that's what seems to happen in rl.

And frankly when you get together with a bunch of other folks to commit a crime you're not only committing a crime but you're being maximally stupid and deserve every bit of shit that flows your way.

And it actually makes sense as once you proceed on the path of crime you and your partners are responsible for whatever happens regardless of intent.

yeah. not much sympathy here.

I think they'll get knocked down to voluntary manslaughter. Once the story recedes from the headlines they'll plea it down.

Unless these two think they can get a jury to let them go.

Then that Felony Murder charge is going to be difficult to brush away.

443 Im STILL pissed the Missouri Synod got rid of the old hymnal in 80's.

We got rid of the red and blue ones, too.

It's VERY short... only consists of two letters. The first one is "F"...

445 "Dershowitz" of "the Missouri Synod."
Yeah, I'm buying that.

Must be the Jefferson City Dershowitz's.
They came here straight from Rostock.

446 Does having the Doxology and other hymns running through your head count as prayer? If so, I do a fair amount, with some what-i-recognize-as prayer interspersed. Y'all are included daily--yeah, Grammie, you and Re and your tribulations as well!

448 The big problem with governors doing what they're doing is they can't be held accountable (and i don't mean voting them out) They are using their power to selectively choose which businesses survive and which don't, and they should be the ones who have to face the repercussions of it, either with criminal prosecution or with civil trials where they are forced to pay, not the usual case where the government commits crimes and the tax payer pays.

I've long supported Ace's divorce plan, but with stricter measures (such as we vote, when it passes you move to the area you want to live in and immediately give up your citizenship to your former area.) As democrats and their media allies are getting back to their old Jim Crow ways where select groups are treated as lesser humans, this is needed more and more, because they're finally showing how they will jail you for thinning the wrong way, and there are only a few ways to stop that train of thought from growing in the entire communist - adjacent party of theirs.

449 "If Christians have to go to court to fight for their right to go to church, then this country is already done."
That's not true. The courts are the last civil sanctuary for government abuse and they are upholding the rights of the people currently and emboldening the citizenry. This is the process. Let it work.

450 The insistence of these Democrat governors on keeping churches closed is baffling because the bishops of the Roman Catholic and Lutheran churches and the leaders of the many, many Black evangelical churches (those opposing the shutdowns most vociferously) are generally speaking 95% Democrat party supporters.
