Dental floss.

Nobody likes to talk about it, but you gotta have your favorite, right?

Mine is Reach Total Care. I don't think they even make it anymore, but I managed to clean out a couple years worth at the local discount store when they had a bunch from closeout.

Yeah, I hoard things like dental floss I like.

That's why when the WuFlu panic shopping hit, all I worried about was milk for the kids.

And ammo.

For me, not those maniac kids. My homeschool has started getting bomb threats from one of the students, and I feel like the teachers should be well armed.

I suspect the youngest. He likes knocking down block towers saying things like "booom" and "Roooaaar".

70 Virtually everything is manufactured in China.

One of the sneaky ways some companies go to not alert you to the fact that their product is made in China is that they made say made in America and have Chinese Character right after it.

Check out an Energizer battery.

It says Made in America but has two Chinese characters after it.

The actual battery is made in China and shipped to the US, the only thing made in America is the label which is applied, packaged and sold to an unsuspecting and largely uncaring consumer.

The funnier one is Rayovac, they say Made in the USA from US and global parts.

Guess what the US part and the global part is?

My mother actually believed the 70s nonsense that violence was something taught to children rather than being inherent in human nature.

I wasn't allowed to have "war toys" for years, but try as she might, she couldn't derail my fascination with military history. She encouraged me to read, so the books I checked out were all about war.

When we went to the book store, those were the ones I wanted to buy even when I was little. I'd stare for hours and pictures of tanks and planes and (especially) warships.

It didn't help that my parents were divorced and my dad thought she was being stupid and gave me toy guns, model tanks and so on. She gave up by the time I turned 6.

Lots of the stupidity that torments us today came out in the 70s.

Yep. From Raleigh, NC's premier newspaper:

"“He had been on a downhill slope because of some other issues he had,” said his 29-year-old son, Nate Jones. “Had the virus not been a thing, he probably had at least several more months left in him.

And the gamble for those additional months was worth the loss of $20T+ in wealth, 20%+ unemployment (and the resulting suicides of younger people), permanently closing 30% of small businesses, and 100M people losing their employer-based health insurance.

In my childhood neighborhood, EVERY dad was either a WWII, Korea, or serving Vietnam vet. in a couple cases, two or even all three. We divided all our war toys into classifications - Big Army (WE were the soldiers), two scales of models, or GI Joes (I preferred the Japanese infantryman, which I am sure made my dad - who fought in the Pacific and was awarded a Combat V Bronze Star) - cringe; he was tolerant enough not to comment, bless him.

I don't feel any outrage when I read stuff like that. It's what I expect them to say.

This isn't an episode of Scooby Doo, where upon being confronted with the incriminating evidence the crooks gripe that they "would have gotten away with it, too, if it wasn't for you meddling kids!"

Of course they're going to lie. They have to. Everything they have is built on lies and they have to ride the rocket until it hits the ground. There's no other exit strategy.

Not a single one of these people is going to do a mea culpa unless they face the same kind of pain Flynn faced.

Fearless prediction: should any of these people get hauled away, they will claim that they are political prisoners of an incipient dictatorship, because that's the only card they will have left.

Tell me about it! I've probably driven my hair stylist crazy with texts about what she's heard. I want my hair colored and cut!

Early this week, we had a friend of a friend come by and cut Mr. Black and Jr. Black's hair in my kitchen. They both got speakeasy haircuts. She's a stylist who's just trying to pay her bills. I feel for them all, greatly. No gov't employee has had their paychecks yanked out from underneath them by any of this phony lockdown crap.

I've been convinced he was playing for the other team for a while.

Funny how he got all belligerent on talk shows but didn't do shit when he had subpoena power.

His Benghanzi hearings were a joke and nothing came of them. Same with Hillary's emails.

As I said at the time, Congress has a number of tools to force compliance and they used to use them all the time.

For example, the budget. All Congress had to do was zero out the DoJ or State Dept budget for a year. In fact, they didn't even have to do that much, just budget it seperately rather than as part of the pork-filled "omnibus."

Let Obama sign all the other budgets and hold that one until they get the documents. Again, this used to happen *all the time.*

The GOP ran on restoring it in 2010! But strangely, they did nothing once they got the power we gave them.

You should *always* cultivate an attitude of gratitude, especially for freedoms.

We are where we are today precisely because people took their freedom for granted, just as people took plenty and prosperity for granted.

These things are not our "birthright," they have to earned, generation from generation.

I see people griping that shortages are a function of Communism and "unAmerican" and my blood boils.

NO. Shortages, privation, and oppression are the NORM for humanity. America is abnormal because people before us made it that way.

No, of course he won't be indicted - that's why a growing number of us think it would be a master stroke for Trump to issue a pre-emptive pardon of Obama, it would look generous while simultaneously driving every leftist out of their minds.

As far as the phone call yesterday, I find that astounding and hugely significant - because it was such a Mistake!!! If you've read thoughts on strategy, from Sun Tzu through Clausewitz, a huge part of strategy involves waiting for you opponent to make a mistake. Obama was safe hiding inside his bunker, saying nothing, he was untouchable - and all of a sudden he's been trolled into sticking his head out and making sure that HE is now involved in all of this!

What incredibly stupid timing for him! Now, as ALL the evidence against is starting to come out! As the Dam is starting to break! He should have gone even deeper under cover! But his side, and his people must be absolutely desperate, and like drowning men they're grabbing for him. And he's too arrogant to realize that he could get dragged down with them.

Until yesterday, Obama was still politically untouchable. *He* just changed that.

He made a mistake.

None of this can happen without Obama's imprimatur.

I'm intrigued by this proposition.

Granted Obama is amoral. But aren't you projecting a sense of loyalty to someone who has no ability, or vocabulary to exhibit loyalty?

Not that it would ever happen, but Barry already did damage by popping out of his hole and making noise again - so any question to whether he would bare testimony would not be to issue truth, it would be to do what is most expedient for himself.

If a decision to better himself, no matter how marginal or contrived - even just for the joy of lying and sowing confusion, were to stand before throwing a Democratic Party stooge under the bus... prepare room for that stooge under the bus.

The party has no loyalty. Everyone can be a cut-out and dispensed. What you may think is loyalty is simply trying to outrun your fellow camper away from the bear.

Where have you been since 2008? Obama's signature move is to sell people out, early and often.

Remember him dumping on his grandmother? Ace even did a riff that 'greater love hath no man than to sacrifice his friend's life for himself.'

So yes, he'll spill on everyone if he thinks it will save him. He does this all the time.

The latter two gentlemen keep sending out these offensive "Dear Constituent" emails in which they praise their own drag-ass approach to getting the state open again.

That's a pleasant way of thinking about it. Butterfly effect and all that.

Except that means we lost the House for the same reasons, I guess. But hey, we got some tax cuts that will expire before it happened and before we lost every economic gain made in the last four years in the desperate hope to give elderly people a few more months to lie in their nursing home beds staring at the ceiling while their families are prohibited from visiting them.

And the lawbreakers are still untouched and untouchable.

417 Well, the democrats have made their first bid on the November elections:

$2000.00/month for everyone.

I'm assuming they mean households, so approximately 120 million checks each month. Doing the math puts us at about 3 Trillion per year.

This is a democrat dream. Give everyone just enough to keep them from starving in exchange for their vote. Give small increases about every 4 years or so to remind everyone where that money comes from.

Having everyone on a minimum level does nothing to build the economy and advance the country.

However, there does need to be a plan to keep the middle class from slipping into poverty as the country opens back up.

I still say paying off debt with the sale of national assets is the way to go.

452 On the subject of dental floss:

(1) I was given a new pair of leather moccasin slippers for Christmas. By mid-March both left and right were blown out along the seams. Stiched them up with dental floss. Slightly unsightly, but functionally good as new.

(2) My wife bought a Zero-Water filter and pitcher on clearance, and we found the little spiggot leaked. When I disassembled it, I found the little rubber washer did not for a tight enough seal. Hmm, what would be sufficiently sanitary, water-resistant, able to fill the gap, etc.? Ah, wound some dental floss (unused, of course) around the mechanism to force the washer to form a tighter fit.

I dunno, but I'm kinda thinkin' dental floss may be the new duct tape. Maybe Mike Rowe has an opinion on this?
