Saturday Morning Coffee Break

sat 4 9 20.jpg

***

TGIS!!

Good morning Morons. Opine away or bloviate. Whatever trips your trigger. Just remember no running with sharp objects, don't pull the 'ettes hair and be nice to one another.

Have a great weekend!

11 Willowed...

Well, the democrats have made their first bid on the November elections:

$2000.00/month for everyone.

I'm assuming they mean households, so approximately 120 million checks each month. Doing the math puts us at about 3 Trillion per year.

This is a democrat dream. Give everyone just enough to keep them from starving in exchange for their vote. Give small increases about every 4 years or so to remind everyone where that money comes from.

Having everyone on a minimum level does nothing to build the economy and advance the country.

However, there does need to be a plan to keep the middle class from slipping into poverty as the country opens back up.

I still say paying off debt with the sale of national assets is the way to go.

There will be no "second wave", that's a leftist fantasy. Because except for NYC and New Jersey, there never was a First Wave. All of us outside of those areas have been shutdown for nothing.

And this is why the Democrats are dangerous, and would be dangerious, even if the COVID nonsense wasn't so successful.

70% of the country is receiving government checks. Even conservatives - and especially conservative women - would become (D) curious if they thought it would help their poor little Suzy who never could find that Art History job after graduating with so much debt bless her heart, and she's never going to get ahead at the JC Penney where her manager hates her.

25 I'm always hearing from experts about who is behind the counter making the coffee at Starbuck's. Apparently they all have masters degrees in literature. Swear to Christ, I stopped at a turnpike rest stop late one night and the other restaurants were closed. That was the one time I ordered coffee at Starbuck's. I kind of wonder what is wrong with someone who has to to out and have somebody else make his god damned coffee for him. How crippled and retarded are you actually? Tiger tear your arm off?

On that dare, I did start asking baristas about their education a couple of years ago -- on the rare occasion that the kids or some in-laws, what have you, would drag me into a place that had one. I must have been going into the wrong class of establishment, unlike the hoity-toits who can afford to look down on literature grads, because mostly I was talking to single moms with no college. Occasionally a student, and that was with about a 50-50 mix of vocational training with pretty pedestrian majors. I did meet one grad student in psychiatric counseling, but it was pretty clear that she was there to meet potential patients, not as a career. The only actual lit grad I found had taken early retirement from a teaching job to spend more time on her horse ranch, and owning the bakery and coffe shop was the off-season fill-in that interfered with her riding the least. Didn't seem like the life-long failure epic that the online quotations called out.

Anyway, yes, I take my coffee black, since the doctor told me to avoid sugar about 15 years ago. You could not put a large-bore pistol to my head and make me put that other ghey jizz in there. What the hell is wrong with people?

26 Mornin', all,

Showered, shaved (new Merkur adjustable razor -- very efficient), slopped the livestock and then myself.

Strangely for May it's fairly cool here, so I've got the door open with the screen door closed. Normally I wash the car on Saturday mornings; but it rained last night with the approach of this cool front, so the streets are still wet and it's pointless to wash your car under those conditions. I'll have to do it tomorrow.

Coffee? With chicory, please.

Don't like the modern back deck. And I really don't like Wisconsin cold.

Which reminds me of a joke: One day, an old New Hampshire farmer saw a fellow walking along the stone wall around his property. "Can I help you, mister?"

"It's OK,"
the stranger replied. "I'm a land surveyor. We've been doing some estimating to confirm the state line. It's over there now," he finished, pointing to a row of hills far across the valley.

"What's that mean?" the farmer asked.

"The border's changed. That's New Hampshire over there. You live in Vermont now."

"Thank God!"
the famer exclaimed. "At my age, I couldn't have stood one more of those New Hampshire winters."

But he's more conservative in outlook than 99.8% of Dems. And he's even defended Trump (and rule of law) in Congressional hearings.

It's almost as if he's a Dem with a conscience.

That's a low probability event.

50 My first cup of coffee in the morning gets Sugar in the Raw and some Nestle's liquid coffee creamer, both of which I can buy cheap at Dollar Tree. This is chicory coffee in a Cafe du Monde cup -- an actual one that my mother rescued from the trash many years ago -- so it's smaller than average. I have to stir the cup a bit to get the sugar to dissolve. This way I get a little sugar high with the caffeine before I go to work out.

For cups 2 and up, I pop in a sweetener, which dissolves much faster, and with no creamer the coffee is hotter, so I sip it.

This week, the kid's dental appointments for May 21 were cancelled. Unfortunately, this included the kid with extensive dental work who *needs* to see a dentist. I managed to call back and after hearing the stupid notice on Covid19 six times, get a hold of of someone in the building who could run a physical note over to the pediatric office. His case does rise to the level that the dentist did call back & somewhat reluctantly agree to see him, but seriously, this is beyond ridiculous.

Furthermore, what good does it do to have COBRA coverage, if you can't use it?
Posted by: Katja at May 09, 2020 09:13 AM (jB6a5)

Eh, there are restrictions still on "open" dental practices, even in Texas, though they're supposed to go away soon.

If it's not emergency treatment, probably you shouldn't expect the dentist to open up.

Not worth the loss or suspension of his license.

Which reminds me of another joke: a man walks into a bar.

"What'll you have, pal?" the bartender asks.

"It's been a lousy day," the man answers. "I want to wrap my hands around something tall, cold and full of gin."

The bartender grabs the man by his shirtfront and lifts him out of his chair. "Just how long have you known my wife?" he growls.

158 That, to me, was the biggest surprise of the week. As I posted last thread, Obama made a huge mistake with that leaked phone call yesterday. He just volunteered to jump back into the shit show, just as everything is starting to fall apart for his team.

Really, serious, would like to know here please, what did he just volunteer to do? What actually happened, consequent to an action that he has taken within the past ninety days or fewer? I have been hearing all morning that this is an ill-timed move for him, to have jumped back into this and put his neck on the line, except we're talking about a phone call that was made while he was still in office, which was a few years ago.

Really just wondering what he did in the last few days that increased his exposure, above what it had been in the last few years.

Speaking of pizza delivery, the Domino's ad highlighting their super-good and fast system to give you something in return for an incorrect delivery, always baffled me. If there's a company -wide system for that, there must be a lot of errors to make good, no? Why highlight that? Of course, the average consumer doesn't think it through.

I'm having something called criobru in my coffee--it's roasted and ground cacao, which I got thinking it sounded good and might be a nice caffeine-free evening drink.

I don't like it that much brewed by itself, but a couple of tablespoons of it brewed with my coffee is really fabulous! Chocolate coffee!

I'm especially sad over it because we took them last year and they both absolutely LOVED it. Lego, water park, etc. They had a blast, and when we asked where they would like to go for their vacation this year they requested it. Didn't even think about it, either. That was where they wanted to go, full stop.

And I had no problem supporting Legoland because when we went last year it was during that "gay pride" bullsh*t month, and you know what wasn't anywhere inside Legoland Florida? Gay pride bullsh*t. Nothing. None. Nowhere.

I remember that what made 'Smugglers' Blues" so great when it came out was the Miami Vice episode written around it - that episode was one of the greatest "Must See" episodes of any TV series, ever. I think the video you refer to was done for MTV.

Frey's solo career took off after the Eagles had broken up in 1980 over what was a political fight (plus they were all sick of each other).

301 Obama could be excused for thinking the rule of law is for little people, and that as a black Democrat man with a nice crease inn his trousers, he could mock those that call into question his use of office and police powers, as a cudgel against an incoming president.

Obama .. raised partly out of country, by commie parents and commie mentor in Hawaii, to Columbia U (home of Cloward/Piven) where he muddled through college without a trace left behind of his academic records, then to Chicago to be taken in by more commies (Wright/Ayers/Jarrett) ... ushered into office via leaked divorce documents of his competition.

Nothing of Obama's past leaked out ... (though in a sense it is an open secret, he was raised through the commie machine). So as POTUS, Barry felt ordained to fundamentally transform the USA ... it was his destiny, and he surely knew he was just the figurehead for The Machine.

But his glide path is now into the ground ... DeepState has other Men at Work to undermine the nation ...Barry, Comey, Brennan can be sacrificed, Gates/Soros/?? have bigger PlanDemic ventures ahead.

Drudge has made quite a descent. Used to be, when it started showing signs of going off the rails, I'd go less and less. To the point where eventually, I stopped going at all. It would still cross my mind, but I resisted clicking over. Not even for a glance. I haven't been there in years. Now, it's almost like I've forgotten Drudge is even there. It's a complete non-factor. Shame.

There had been some discussion on here of those huge collars in '70s fashion. Someone mentioned them catching the wind and slapping you in the face, I think.

334 "Plenty of cows in Kansas. They are just waiting to be shipped to processing plants."

this guy has an interesting take on the consolidation in the meat processing industry ... 4-5 big names, some foreign owned. They have been bringing in foreign meat, blending it with US beef, calling it all US. That is what COOL (country of origin labeling) was about ...

But now there are people controlling that link in the chain, and they can screw the producer (those that raise the cattle, then have to sell) ... so once again, big money and foreign interests gain control of an industry ... possible terrible outcomes ahead ... Consolidation has given us some efficiencies maybe, but largely has screwed us, letting a few BigMoney names control the little guys.

After we got off the phone she looked at me and said that better be one heck of a tree house. Later, she looked at me and said with a bit of work I could make a fully enclosed room with power to it and we could rent it out on Airbnb. I took her at here wird. Walked over to my neighbor's this morning and gave him $200 for a wrought iron spiral stairway he had for sale.

Also: Let me see if I have this correctly. Our who knows how many billions a year intelligence and law enforcement system could not come up with empirical evidence (also known as, "evidence") that Trump colluded with the Russians. None. Zero. I lost count of how many blatantly fabricated "game changer" lies were forced on us.

And the response of the press is...Andrew Cuomo socks.

How does all of this not come to blows?

394 I saw The Killer at a club on Rt. 301 in Waldorf, Maryland in the early 70s. He was really hammered and playing mostly boring songs by Stephen Collins Foster for some reason. He was trying to come on to some women seated on an adjoining table and, when they rebuffed him, accused them of being lezzos. Like I said, he was really hammered. It was still a great evening.
Posted by: Captain Hate

I saw him mid 70's at an small auditorium near Chicago.
His warm up group was Ken Lovelace and the Memphis Beats, who did 45 minutes.
Then Jerry came out. Did 45 lackadaisical minutes and was off. No encore no nothing.
Waste of time and money

398 government will have a big role in a recovery and in returning some vital manufacturing to USA. The JJ plan is more about tax incentives, although he may have included some government grants, idk.

The trillions so far mostly went to prop up (over-leveraged) WallStreet. This benefits those invested in the stock market "game" as well ... BigCorp comes out of it grinning. But all the "non-essential" businesses forced to shut down should be the ones getting grants for their lost revenue. Workers got unemployment, but a restaurant forced to shut down still paid other expenses. The loans via banks were useful but tricky ... and slow.

We can't allow the Gates' "New Normal" (no church for you, but WalMart can run full speed) ... to take control of America. It does seem "they" had a plan .. to "flood the zone" with pandemic scares and using that to get funding for the globalist agenda.

It was implemented with incredible success, America just rolled over as Governors became dictators ... "fundamental transformation" that Obama probably never dreamed could happen so quickly.

Some worse than others. Mothers aren't somehow immune to being vicious or cruel just because they're female and gave birth. Like all human beings, they can act for good or they can act for evil. They can nurture, build up and encourage their children, or they can tear them down, crush their spirits, and make them feel unworthy of life.

It all looks like a Planned Operation ... especially since they discussed the need to push people via such "trial runs" like Fauci and the globalists talk about when they are planning their perfect world (run by their global machine, after "Death to America" is accomplished)

Polly can be a little too conspiracy minded at times, or maybe we have too much normalcy bias, and fail to accept how evil these global planners really are. 430 Moms.

When your teachers tell you, 'you're not living up to your potential,' but they don't tell you what that means, or how to achieve it, you just get left with the scolding.

When simple childhood carelessness gets punished as if it were willful wrongdoing, but you can't make your case, you just get left with the fury of injustice.

When simple boisterous boyhood is called disruptive and unwelcome, you feel rejected and misunderstood.

When they're basing their estimations of your unruliness on what your two older brothers did, or what your parents are like, or other factors, you realize nobody is actually looking at you.

And that's just all-too-normal growing-up stuff. I knew that nobody was intentionally cruel, or unjust, or disdainful, or unloving. I can only extrapolate how hard it has been for so many to have a parent who really was cruel and unjust and disinheriting.

Some wonderful folk, many on here, emerged from that toxic brew. Mysterious ways, Mr. God.

A puzzle for a Saturday morning!

... So Obama already knew on Jan 5 when Yates first learned... the call was taped (which Flynn knew); the call took place when Flynn was in the Dominican Republic (not sure about this); so the recording must have been from recording the Russian Ambassador. If this is true, what US "agency" would be in charge of tapping the phones of foreign ambassadors ? And was it even a US agency or could it possibly be a foreign agency?

454 Unrolled thread by Techno_Fog re Van Grack:

Flynn prosecutor Brandon Van Grack should be in trouble.

How Van Grack's misrepresentations about the Flynn investigation and evidence led Judge Sullivan to issue an inaccurate opinion.

Why a show-cause hearing is appropriate.

457 19 From last thread: "Agreed. Which is why I also guarantee that when the mythical "next wave" comes around and the governors and mayors order another round of lockdown decrees, they will be obeyed, despite what some commenters think."

There will be no "second wave", that's a leftist fantasy. Because except for NYC and New Jersey, there never was a First Wave. All of us outside of those areas have been shutdown for nothing.

Yes and no. The original fear was valid. Too many people in China were dieing, China wouldn't let us in, it was obvious they were telling big lies (sulfur plumes), and our govt knew that we (Fauci) had been funding Wuhan lab experiments.

After the initial legitimate lockdown then the numbers come in and they don't jibe with the fear
But how do you tell the masses that all the initial preparation was malarkey? Nothing to see here.

It had to be wound down and it did take way too many weeks to do that. We can thank the MSM and Fauci for that.

459 @realDonaldTrump 21 minutes ago

So in California, the Democrats, who fought like crazy to get all mail in only ballots, and succeeded, have just opened a voting booth in the most Democrat area in the State. They are trying to steal another election. It's all rigged out there. These votes must not count. SCAM!

I am sooooo jealous! I have the Charmin forever rolls but that's only in 2 bathrooms. I need regular rolls for the other bathrooms. Haven't seen Charmin around here for at least 2 months.

464 Great point and one that is being confused by the MFM.

Lying under oath in a transcribed setting vs. "he said/she said."

Funny that in the Slow Fingers Joe situation, the dems pretty much
take the opposite position to say you can't believe one side over
another.

Considering Lisa Page's extraordinary editing skills with the Flynn 302s (and taking her sweet time about it), I'd say it's more like "he said/she wrote". Judge Emmit G. Sullivan gave the Flynn defense short shrift during this entire mess, only to find out that the FBI played him for a fool and an unwitting accomplice. Just like the DOJ and the FBI played the FISA Courts. Man, federal jurisprudence ain't what it used to be. Thanks John Roberts!

465 Well hello Hogmartin! *waves*

Tami, you have to pounce on it when it's available. I have lots of that awful .5 ply Scott's, which isn't fit for stable hands or refugees.

Figuring out when it's available is the tricky part....short of sitting outside the stores and waiting for their delivery trucks.

And what's left over after the store employees re-fill their supplies and the supplies of their extended families.
