Sefton: sefton at cutjibnewsletter.com | Project Veritas: CBS "News" Faked Footage of Cars Lining Up at a Covid Testing Site To Make the Lines Appear Much Longer Than They Actually Were[Mamaroneck, N.Y.—May 6, 2020] A CBS News crew pulled medical professionals off the floor at the Cherry Medical Center in Grand Rapids, Michigan, to line up in their vehicles so a CBS film crew would have a long line for their COVID-19 coverage. ... 'Apparently, the news crew wanted more people in the line,' said a Cherry Health Supervisor. "We pretended. There were a couple of real patients, which made it worse," Said Another Registered Nurse. In other words, CBS delayed the treatment of real patients so they could get their shot of fake patients waiting in long lines. ... "The insider told us that medical personnel were taken away from treating patients and making the line longer for actual patients wait for the COVID-19 test," he said.CBS "News" calls the report "100% false." You know, like Joe Biden says. Hidden video camera of the nurses admitting CBS asked them to fake a line at the link. Comments(Jump to bottom of comments)1

This is a great example of how the "news" is done these days. First, you decide what the story is going to be. (Invariably your story will support some Leftist trope.) Then, you go out and get witness quotes and photos that illustrate the pre-selected point. You ignore anything that doesn't fit the narrative, and if the required material isn't available, you just make up shit.
See, e.g., the New York Times 1619 Project. Posted by: Cicero (@cicero) at May 06, 2020 12:22 PM (cuKeo) 119
They only stuck a bottle rocket in that gas tank to prove how it will burst into flames.
They only ran that story about flushing a Koran down the toilet out of concern. They only ran a fake TANG memo because of a deeper truth. They only edited the Zimmerman tape to make it sound awful because of concerns over racism They only ran Jayson Blair's nonexistent travels and interviews because they wanted to encourage him They only ran completely false information about the Lacrosse team rape story because they wanted to Believe All Women They only ran a false story about Hands Up Don't Shoot because they wanted to express support for Black Lives Matter. They only claimed Trump had early access to Wikileaks documents out of a desire for the truth. They only ran repeated stories about 17 intelligence agencies supporting the Russian Collusion myth when it was just 4 analysts because they were worried about the election. They ran a story claiming Scaramucci had ties to Russia because they were just trying to find the facts They ran Duranty's analingus of the Soviet Union over Holodomor out of a desire to reach out to our enemies They made up a story about Saturday Night Fever being based on a real man because Disco was so cool They ran a story about Cookie, the little boy hooked on heroin just because they wanted to promote a young black woman in the industry They ran dozens of Phillip Glass stories that were complete fabrications because they held a deeper truth. They kept Brian Williams on for years despite his increasingly bizarre, blatantly false claims because they didn't want to hurt his feelings on and on and on it goes through the years. Then an Israeli press photographer released a photo of the reverse angle. Have always said the senseless policies will face away or crumble under the weight of facts, common sense, and people's desire to do normal things.
The "senseless policies" - those which, now, are clearly irrelevant. One of which appears to be much of "testing". Stipulating the following things, now known to some degree of confidence: * infection fatality rate of C-19 *not* apocalyptic, appears sub-influenza for most demos * reproduction rate much lower than initially believed * hospitalization/acute care rate, even at "peaks" not a problem One wonders: * why diagnostic testing other than for symptomatic, and screening for medical/assisted care/etc staff, other select occupations? * why not pour resources into a very rapid, huge anti-body survey, which will help confirm non-apocalyptic dimensions of this bug? And the constant, widespread, unvarying anecdotal accounts of empty testing centers, even some closing already due to lack of business. Several things that don't seem to make sense in any framework, unless I'm missing a lot. Posted by: rhomboid at May 06, 2020 12:33 PM (El6T/) 188

I would like to ask a question. Not trying to be a troll.
Why do people hate the concept of masks? Taiwan and Hong Kong knocked this down to zero with the use of masks. I do fluid dynamics in real life, and the physics all support masks reducing the spread. N95 masks will even protect you substantially although I would not exercise in them unless you want to pass out. Other things that reduce the spread is low density, warn temperatures, and sunlight (I agree no masks are needed outside, and 6 feet is overkill in even a light breeze). Which is likely why California and Florida have stayed low (as well as Cali likely having a less virulent strain hit it in January). I was saying these things back in Feb when cdc and fda were giving out misinformation. Even Ace came out a while back and said if it helps open things up just do it. Is it that you think it makes you a subject? I live in Cali and I am infuriated at all this. The news media infuriated me. Fauci infuriated me. But masks are the one thing an independent Free thinking person can do as their part. If we had just done masks from the I think we would be in exactly the same spot we Are in now. Maybe better. But wearing a mask means I am doing the one thing I have control over to help older people. Maybe I am just a slave. Prove me wrong. Give me A good reason for not wearing a mask. I greatly disapprove of comparisons of AGW and this bug - there is a key, gigantic difference.
AGW *is a very outlandish, improbable hypothesis for which there is no evidence, not even a framework of testable propositions* - i.e, it almost certainly *doesn't exist, at all*. Leaving aside all the fraud and abandonment of scientific method - i.e., the Lysenkoism. C-19 definitely exists, it's definitely a public health issue. Entire question is how to deal with it. Comparing the two lends AGW some respectability - hell, implies that it's even real, as opposed to an outlandish and unproven hypothesis. Posted by: rhomboid at May 06, 2020 12:39 PM (El6T/) 227

Science has been corrupted by government for decades. Money, power and control.
Posted by: JackStraw at May 06, 2020 12:35 PM (ZLI7S) Akin to, and largely responsible for the sweeping changes in our industrial-military posture, has been the technological revolution during recent decades. In this revolution, research has become central; it also becomes more formalized, complex, and costly. A steadily increasing share is conducted for, by, or at the direction of, the Federal government. Today, the solitary inventor, tinkering in his shop, has been overshadowed by task forces of scientists in laboratories and testing fields. In the same fashion, the free university, historically the fountainhead of free ideas and scientific discovery, has experienced a revolution in the conduct of research. Partly because of the huge costs involved, a government contract becomes virtually a substitute for intellectual curiosity. For every old blackboard there are now hundreds of new electronic computers. The prospect of domination of the nation's scholars by Federal employment, project allocations, and the power of money is ever present and is gravely to be regarded. Yet, in holding scientific research and discovery in respect, as we should, we must also be alert to the equal and opposite danger that public policy could itself become the captive of a scientifictechnological elite. The same speech where Eisenhower warned of the Military Industrial Complex. Posted by: Romeo13 at May 06, 2020 12:41 PM (NgKpN) 249

Applications are only published 18 months after filing, but if Fauci were an inventor, the US Government would be an assignee.
Posted by: Deplorable Jay Guevara at May 06, 2020 12:40 PM (ItAg0) The government rights to patents for inventions developed under federally sponsored R&D at universities, nonprofit organizations and small business organizations are determined in accordance with the terms of the funding agreement. Prior to 1980, the patent rights clauses used in a funding agreement were determined by the legislation and policy of the agency involved. Some agencies kept title, and others gave title. In 1980, the Congress passed an act to provide uniformity among the various government agencies. More importantly, this act was passed so that universities, nonprofit organizations and small business organizations could more easily obtain title to patents developed with federal funding. In accordance with the act, all funding agreements with such organizations must give the organization the right to obtain title to any invention that is conceived or first reduced to practice in performance of work under the funding agreement. There are several exceptions to this requirement, such as inventions made during the operation of a government- owned facility or if the organization is not located in the U.S. From a legal website on patent law. I don't believe one word about masks being effective.
Maybe the fancy ones they wear in hospitals but putting on a bandana to walk into a store does not make you more safe. A tennis shoe or a maxi-pad with wings sure and the hell won't. Posted by: rickb223 at May 06, 2020 12:53 PM (At/8G) 317
Masks probably do help in the outbound direction (e.g., if you are infected and asymptomatic, it helps keep your germs to yourself). I wear a mask when I feel a bit unwell but have to go to work, so that I don't share with my colleagues.
From this standpoint, wearing a mask is reasonably if you have any suspicion of infection. If you don't, it's probably pointless. Posted by: Joe Mannix (Not a cop!) at May 06, 2020 12:53 PM (hYcqw) 318

Posted by: Northernlurker --- Never. In my dalliance with believing in nothing, part of what I doubted was what I used to hear about abortion lessening the value of life. I adopted the "skepticism" of currency. When I adopted a faith, I again saw the case that abortion damages the value of life, however, I realized that was an unsolvable problem. The people you need to reach have already had their value of life fashionably degraded. The people who have embraced the progressive Will to Power, have aligned their purpose in life around the ascension to this power. You can't be free of somebody who shares no basic common ground, and any common ground they profess is part of a con game. So much that they have embraced is definitionally disingenuous at the start. Posted by: JEM at May 06, 2020 12:11 PM (8erNz) +++++++++++++++ I agree. I had an interesting conversation about this a couple of years ago when I was in Europe for a business trip and a big group of us went out to dinner. One of my Euro colleagues asked about some stories he read in the press, all of which were false. I told him, "the most valuable lesson you can learn is that the American press lie constantly and you shouldn't trust them." A woman at the table (American) took exception and asserted that they are sometimes wrong due to deadline pressures, but they don't lie. I gave her an analogy. I said, "Assume we're talking about an investment advisor instead. Every time you give him $1000, he loses your money. There are two possible reasons for this. He could be incompetent, or he could be stealing from you. Which reason it is will guide later actions, but the immediate action is the same: quit giving him your money. Whether the press are incompetent like you assert or if they're liars like I assert, the first step is to stop listening to them regardless of which one of us is right." No response. Oh, but you can trust them THIS time Posted by: Christopher R Taylor at May 06, 2020 12:22 PM (KZzsI) ++++ Outstanding reminders. Thank you. One of the Media's problems, perhaps the big problem, is that the incentive structure is screwed up. At the very top, in local and network news, the incentive is rewards for maximizing profit from ads. So we get "If it bleeds it leads," or "Orangeman Bad." Good luck making money if you only have stories about a group mowing a disabled veteran's lawn, or about a new highway section that opened on time and on budget. To the reporters, the goal is to rise up the ladder, to become a network reporter, then a network anchor, then get your own opinion-type hour-long show. Again, you are not going to rise up that ladder with only stories about lost puppies being found and the sad little boy is now overjoyed. You have to make a splash, get noticed by the network. Editors and news division chiefs have to try to get better ratings that the competition, and at least attempt to make profit in their area of responsibility. Do they have time and resources to check the details of every reporter's story, under the pressure of the 24-hour news cycle? No, and they are not required to do so by the publisher and/or CEO. Gotta get that film of the (false) coronavirus hospital situation on-air before the other guys run something similar! The problem is, a couple of words are missing from the above incentives and motivations descriptions: Truth and accuracy. Posted by: Gref at May 06, 2020 01:01 PM (AMIL/) 362

Last Friday, it was packed. A few old people were wearing masks, Asians (as always), but that was about it. Sure, it's pretty spread out, but people were driving from all over to get there. I was surprised the ranger station was open TBH. But of course, all the picnic tables, out in the sun in 80 degree weather were taped off. My tax dollars at work. Sadly, even if half of the crazy libs in this state decided to vote the other way, I don't think we can overcome the illegals voting. Posted by: clutch cargo at May 06, 2020 01:03 PM (8B6Ng) 377
I've seen that before but it really does not make any sense to me. From what little I know of biology I thought that if just one virus (of any sort) got in and your immune system allowed it to reproduce then you are going to get the disease until your immune system can fight it off or you die. The only thing I can think of where the load would matter is if your body can fight off a few but not many. If that is the case then would not everybody die that gets infected?
Posted by: moon_over_vermont at May 06, 2020 12:53 PM (00CEy) It's a fair question. Your body CONSTANTLY fights off invaders. For example, anthrax spores are present in common dirt. You dig in dirt, you're exposed to anthrax. But your body's immune system is well equipped to fight off minor doses of anthrax. It's spots those few bits of alien sumbitches, and eats them for breakfast. Leave some nice warm chicken salad out for a couple of days, and salmonella WILL come knocking. It's in the air. All the time. But in low doses. And you never even notice it going on. So. One day, this stranger shows up at your front door, and in force. This is why viral load is important. And yes, I'm mixing viruses and bacteria, but the principle is the same. Posted by: GnuBreed at May 06, 2020 01:03 PM (Z4rgH) 378

That would just make things go faster. Virii overwhelm the body by seeming to be benign and fooling the immune system, then breeding out of control. Having a lot won't make you sicker, just get you more certainly sick, swifter.

Wouldn't a slower speed of getting sick allow the immune system more time to respond and potentially lead to more mild symptoms?
Its possible, but virii succeed by tricking your immune system into not knowing they are dangerous. So I'm not sure how much difference that would make. I am far from an expert on the subject but what I recall makes me believe that the difference is not the amount of viral presence but rather the familiarity your immune system has with the virus, and some seem to attack it sooner than others. But I'm completely open to correction from someone with more information and training. Posted by: Christopher R Taylor at May 06, 2020 01:05 PM (KZzsI) 386

Thanks to all your answers. Looked at the video one of you mentioned. FWIW I have no hope a vaccine will be developed. That idiot Fauci has been working on this since SARS and MERS and they have not really made progress. And if progress is made it will not be CDC that makes it.
I agree with Zombie. Even the crappy masks keep it from propelling out. I also agree with the use of force. But I do use a mask and have been since mid February. For those who think this is just a flu. It spreads faster than flu and if you get sick (which is a low probability event based on the antibody studies) it will gum up your blood. Similar to malaria and lupus - which is why hydrochloroquinine seems to work. BTW. if we could get that when you first started feeling sick I think we could knock this down to nothing quickly. Another reason to hate Fauci. For states where there are minimal impacts I agree that mask are unnecessary. And I do not think they should be required. But just because they are is no reason to not make use of them. Again, thanks for your answers. I mostly lurk here but I look forward to the Cali MoMe. One of the Media's problems, perhaps the big problem, is that the incentive structure is screwed up. At the very top, in local and network news, the incentive is rewards for maximizing profit from ads. Posted by: Gref at May 06, 2020 01:01 PM (AMIL/) In fact, that's the ONLY reason that modern news media exists. To sell ads.
