6 Good Morning Morons today is Sunday, May 3, 2020. On this day in 1802 Washington, D.C. was incorporated as a city after Congress abolished the Board of Commissioners, the District's founding government. The "City of Washington" was given a mayor-council form of government. They should have left it alone as the idiot Democrats want to make it a State now.

21 Welp my brand new alternator (installed about a month ago) with less than 400 miles threw its bearing about 100 miles away from home. Thankfully the truck is parked in my friend's dad's driveway - but it's two hours away - and its a brand new alternator (not a reman).

Added up some of the costs on this truck and over a year and a half of ownership I'm at $150k.

For my dream car its really at nightmare status. Did get to do some pretty fun offroading yesterday though.

Jail....and then what? An I-bond from the District, a dismissal at Court, and a Civil Right attorney knocking at the door with a proposition for a lottery win.

Groot and her ilk have spent their lives cultivating disrespect for the Rule of Law in general and police specifically. Now they act surprised when residents don't want to follow a legally questionable "mandate." They're extra surprised when cops object to being thrown into a situation that endangers their physical and financial well-being after years of being painted as the bad guys.

I am glad my state tends to not have extreme animals and insects such as those with the prenom, "murder" The state I was born in has pretty much every killer everything and crazy weather like golf ball hail and tornadoes to boot. Then when you throw in burrs, you have a lot going on. That builds character I guess.
The scariest insect I know of is the cow killer ant. They were big and furry too but pretty much indestructable. We would encounter them in Columbus GA while hanging out in the bush. These things would not go down if you slammed them with an m-16 butt. But luckily they usually traveled alone, they were rogues.

Its USPS. It'll get to you eventually. The past two months have been hit or miss for all of the delivery companies - Fedex seems to have weathered it better than others. My normal UPS guy hasn't been around lately and his replacement is a purple hair nose pierced 20-something who promptly ignored me when I asked her to keep it below 15mph on our one lane private road.

107 Here in the Bluegrass we have "Red Wasps." They're kind of like normal black wasps, but have a slight reddish hue. Some call them "Mud Daubers" because they make these smallish nests that look like they were made from mud, then dried.

I have a young social media friend who recently posted a photo where in the top half is a photo of illegal aliens in detention behind chain link fence. caption: "those aren't concentration camps don't be hyperbolic".

The lower photo is of a upper-middle class white family of four watching television in comfort of their modern living room. caption: "This is tyranny"

So the Left is already waving the hands and saying that the destruction of millions of lives, and impositions to speech, movement, assembly; the State declaring who is "essential" and can work and those who are condemned to financial ruin, sending in goons to break up worship services, outlawing a pick-up basketball game; forbidding haircuts, dental work, and kids play with neighbors...

That isn't tyranny.

I should ask him for what the definition of tyranny is and what it would like.

137 There should be a thread on the really stupid pc changes to terms such as mail man. Mail Man is not the worst, letter carrier is ok I guess but still dumb. To me, letter carrier is a more demeaning term.

Sure there are tons of pc changes but some of them are just horrible. I still can't believe the Syracuse Orange Men changed their name to the Syracuse Orange. The women's teams were called the Orange Women. But the Orange? What does that even mean?

One that has really bothered my lately is the Ace Hardware commercial. They jingle was always, "Ace is the place with the helpful hardware man". Now they say, "Ace is the place with the helpful hardware folks". It sounds stupid, stands out to people who are over 29, and does nothing for any cause whatsoever. It says they are lame and that is that.

Posted by: Quint at May 03, 2020 07:55 AM (hHxp2)

138 CNN says there may never be a WuFlu vaccine. We may have to stay 6 feet apart forever.

Curious as to how this magical "six feet of social distancing" came about, I did some research.

The problem is, there is NO vigorous research on "social distancing". Basically they are taking guidelines that have been around for quite a while for medical personnel, in a hospital setting, to approach those who are compromised.

That is, the surgeon doesn't stand alongside the patient that she is going to cut up in the next minute and then put on a mask and gloves.

So this "CDC Approved" two meter spacing before putting on PPE in a hospital setting is a direct analog to walking in the park or shopping at the home improvement store.

They are winging it and there is nothing scientific about "six feet" yet they attach criminal penalties for violating it.

That is tyranny.

The Karens of the world cannot wrap their heads around this. The COVID mess has made them believe that they're signing their own death warrants if they step outside their house.

Fact of the matter is that Damocles' sword dangles over the necks of every mortal on earth. There is little that we can do to prevent its swift and decisive cleaving.

Once you learn to accept your own mortality, life becomes a lot more enjoyable. You don't take it for granted by sitting on your couch and pretending that you're saving society at the same time.

He interacted a lot with Fauci professionally. My mother in law (sweetest woman on earth, I'm convinced) said that Fauci always traveled with an "entourage" and was "all about himself" at professional conferences. You noticed that he says a lot but does nothing too.

Sort of like the past two generations of Republican House and Senate investigators. They all yell about getting to the bottom of it and never any charges filed despite the legal pad full of felonies discovered.

I was used to saying that the Trump administration is the absolute worse in that the DOJ refuses to even investigate Deep State, but apparently this is a long held Republican Tradition of maintaining double standards.

The Left can and will prosecute and imprison anyone not of the State, even if they have to make it up like Stone, Flynn et al, But when you have outright sedition, treason and a host of felonies committed by the Left or of the Deep State (BIRM) nothing.

And everyone on planet earth knows it and is OK with it.

I'm at the point where we can abolish the DOJ along with half the cabinet departments and the US military as being worthless expenses.

Got my last month's checks all at once. Then, yesterday, got another e-mail saying I hadn't made enough money. Checked into my online account and couldn't find any place to claim benefits.

Was all ready to spend hours on the phone tomorrow, but before coming here this morning, decided to check on-line one more time.

245 I dunno, there's probably a chance of reclaiming the military by excising all of the officer class and restocking those ranks from the senior NCO's.

The military has always had its bureaucracy and politics - I'm not assailing the men and women in uniform.

The military is just one gargantuan budget expense. It hasn't been used for legitimate national security since we had the Department of War and I'm at the point I don't know what the military would defend us against.

It sure isn't freedom and liberty because I can't think of any sovereign government right now that would have a more oppressive, corrupt, tyrannical government that what we are experiencing Right Now, and what many are hoping that we will have tomorrow.

To do that, he had to accept it and own it, and hire on it's leading proponents, such as Fauci, to be *his* guys. Having chosen that path, he's not got to stay on it.

If you want to see a leader who's actually done this thing correctly, look to Bolsonaro in Brazil. And look at how much crap he gets for it, even here. (and I'm sure I'll be criticized for holding him up as the model we should have followed)

I looked at the TX dashboard of covid cases last night. Looks like the new cases and new deaths are both pretty flat, and the deaths are very heavily skewed to older people. The racial distro is pretty close to a third each black, white, and Hispanic, which is our population. (Always weird to me to see TX depicted as nothing but racist white hillbillies...Houston is a racially diverse *and* racially mixed area. Granted, the little town I currently live in is 90% white, but it also has an average household income close to if not actually in the six figures and an average education level slightly above four years of college per adult. So, it's not remotely representative. My husband and I make fun of it a lot (neither of us is from a wealthy background AT ALL). My mom used to teach in the high school here and still calls it Stepford - the moms were all dressed alike, etc. I don't fit in at parent meetings!)

100% agree. He was calling for calm in the beginning but the hysteria was starting to build as the left saw it as a way to hurt him politically. Right before the 15 days to slow the spread started Steve Cortes on his radio show was in DC (mostly for a White House meeting) and talking about treating this like a war and throwing everything we had at it to stop this as fast as possible. That was the thinking going into to the shutdowns. 306 I understand that Fauci, Gates, and Soros probably will make bank from the remdesivir, but it sure seems to me that a lot of the previous testing of HCQ+Z could be used to jump start certification as a "certified" alternative to the "golden" drug for the CV-19 and significantly decrease testing requirements and costs.

Then I woke up...

Posted by: Colin at May 03, 2020 08:20 AM

Meh.

Just checking the stats for Michigan this past week, the demographic breakdown of the 41,379 cases and 3,789 deaths was:

(Cases/Deaths)
--- Black (32% / 41%)
--- White (33% / 47%)

or...

(Cases/Deaths)
--- Black (13,241 / 1,553)
--- White (13,779 / 1,781)

Or, put another way based on percentage of Michigan population:

Black population: 1,360,000
White population: 7,480,000

Percentage of COVID-19 cases/deaths by population:

(Cases/Deaths)
--- Black: (0.97% / 0.11%)
--- White: (0.18% / 0.02%)

So approximately 1% of the Black population of Michigan has been infected with COVID-19 and 0.11% of the Black population of Michigan has died from COVID-19.

Meanwhile, what percentage of the Black population of Michigan has been affected by the now 49-day shutdown of the state? I would bet it is MUCH higher than 1%.

328 So the game this fall is the blue-state governors where Trump won in 16 (Michigan, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin) or would likely win in 20 (Minnesota, Nevada, Colorado) are going to use the virus as an excuse to implement fraudulent mail-in voting and hand their states' electoral votes to Biden.
-----
How many of those states have both houses controlled by the Dems?

Republicans control the House in PA, WI, MI.
Republicans control the Senate in MN

Only in NV does the dems control both houses.

So, only if the Republicans roll over will it happen. Even token opposition will delay this until it's too late to print.

Medium opposition and it's litigated to the Supreme Court until next year.

Quit worrying about that.

Why do you think they were trying to pass it at the federal level? To supersede state laws.

334 OTTAWA - The federal government has outlawed a wide range of rifles with the aim of making Canada safer, saying the guns were designed for the battlefield, not hunting or sport shooting.

The ban issued Friday covers some 1,500 models and variants of what the government considers assault-style firearms, meaning they cannot be legally used, sold or imported, starting immediately.

The list includes the popular AR-15 rifle and the Ruger Mini-14 used to kill 14 women at Montreal's Ecole Polytechnique in 1989.

"Today we are closing the market for military-grade assault weapons in Canada," Prime Minister Justin Trudeau told a news conference.

May their chains rest lightly upon them.
