My understanding is that the outfits, the background, etc is all about symbolism. The subject didn't really wear all this, but rather each element is intended to say something about the person being portraited.

Armor = warrior
Horizon beyond = the power he wields
Hairstyle = prancing mince.

Posted by: Kilroy wasn't here at April 27, 2020 09:59 AM (zy+gb)

177 The Russian Tsar Peter the Great was well known for his particular love of small people. This was somewhat ironic given his own size: at a height of six feet and seven inches, he towered above most visitors to his court, yet he was obsessed with dwarfs.

Peter kept a permanent retinue of dwarfs in his court and frequently used them to put on lavish entertainments. During extravagant feasts in the royal palace, it was not uncommon to see a naked dwarf leaping from a giant pie, or plays and entertainments using dwarf actors.

Peter was the one who did the most to modernize Russia and bring it up to the standards of the rest of Europe, right? Russia had been under the hooves of the Mongols while Europe was having this little party called the Renaissance. 195 It seems so tedious to get dressed like this.
It's called "studio armour" that was only worn by this period for portraits and not on the battlefield other than the breastplate for select troop types (like cavalry called "cuirassiers" and by engineers and sometimes sappers/miners digging trenches as they neared a besieged fortress).

Although they could have, the breastplate wasn't often worn by generals even on the battlefield.

Judy Garland used to say that at least a couple of the Munchkins asked her to dinner; though Garland was known to "enhance" her memories of the Oz shoot, I'm sure in this case she was telling the truth. They were, after all, grown men and women, not children. And Garland's not my type, but any port in a storm.

218 Peter was the one who did the most to modernize Russia and bring it up to the standards of the rest of Europe, right? Russia had been under the hooves of the Mongols while Europe was having this little party called the Renaissance. 223 Looking at this painting an others on his Wiki page, the skin tones are rather coarse. Same for some of the brush work. 365 Peter was a bad motherfucker. He more or less founded the Russian Navy. He industrialized Russia at swordpoint. He crushed the Streltsy. He crushed the boyars. He forced the peasants to scratch St. Petersburg out of the tundra with their bare hands.

He was a textbook example of ruthless SMR leadership.

Orcettes beat them both when it comes to putting out. Also, they're better than dwarvettes because they don't have beards.

The only problem with the orcettes is that they tend to get a little stabby when you piss them off.

376 On the Huldufolk front...

"And Then You Die", a novel in the Aurelio Zen mystery series bu Michael Dibdin.

Takes a weird little detour to Iceland, and a lightly comic adventure which may or may not involve Huldufolk.

Great mystery series for those, who like mystery reading.

"Blood Rain", the previous book to "ATYD", gives you more of a feel for the usual Zen thriller.

Not to be overlong - I filed just after I had been furloughed, then this past Friday got a note that said I hadn't made enough in wages to qualify. So I called this morning, and the nice girl (really! she was very sweet and helpful) said that she didn't understand that ruling, in light of the fact that I had made a lot of money in 2019, then as she walked me through things, realized that I had not filed through the "COVID-19 portal," but even then, I should not have been denied.

In any event, I refiled via Kung Flu, and now I am waiting. Thank heavens I have enough money to get through this, though my discretionary income is just about zero at this point.

Here's a story about Peter - he was a reformer, and one of the things he sought to reform was education. He was always encouraging Russians to study more and subsidizing them to do so.

Also, like many Tsars, he was fond of condemning people to death. Unlike others, however, he often did the honors personally, with. a headsman's ax.

Finally, contrary to all the jokes from you wiseasses, he loved chicks and took many mistresses.

All of these traits converged when he tired of his Scottish mistress's intrigues, beheaded her, and used the opportunity to demonstrate to the crowd about the spinal column and respiratory system, as hers were fresh and on display.

438 >>Can you give more context? I am unfamiliar with this part of the story.

Millian has always been a controversial character. Russian American businessman and acquaintance of Trump from way back. He claims to have high level contacts in Russia.

He's been accused of being a Fusion GPS plant or like Flynn a guy who was framed. It is claimed he is a source, potentially THE source, for the garbage in the Steele report.

Some believe he was willingly telling Steele lies to frame Trump while others think Steele took his jokes and wild theories and made them sound real.

In any case he has largely eluded being thoroughly debriefed by Congressional committees and his testimony about what Steele really did and what Millian's real intent were are a key to unraveling this scam.

Thank you. Interesting. Is that his real twitter handle? Meaning has it been vetted?

Is he staying underground, but he is willing to engage via twitter?

Not really sure I understand what he is trying to accomplish via those tweets you gave above - if it is indeed him.

Nah, it's all good. We speak of lasers "lasing" and tasers "tasing" (but never of zener diodes "zening", I don't know why that is).

After a while an acronym is just like any other word with respect to derivative forms.

>>Not really sure I understand what he is trying to accomplish via those tweets you gave above - if it is indeed him.

I believe it is his twitter account, whether he is doing the tweeting obviously nobody knows right now.

It sounds to me as if he wants to talk with Nunes and of course the stuff in the dossier is all fake garbage so maybe given how things are unraveling he is ready to finally open up. Millian knows the Obama FBI/FBI were corrupt so he has kept a low profile to insure he didn't get swept up in the fallout.

My belief is that Steele took a bunch of bar talk and turned it into the dossier and the FBI never bothered to check Steele's source, they just told everyone it was true and acted on it.
